SJ's is the BEST, hands down!

We had the pleasure of working with Rich from SJ's, and he was an absolute game changer for our wedding! From start to finish, he brought incredible energy, a fun vibe, and kept the dance floor packed all night. His personality is infectious - friendly, engaging, and professional. He made sure everything went exactly how we envisioned, with his own awesome touch to keep things lively.

One of the best things about Rich was how interactive he was with our guests. He struck the perfect balance of keeping the party going while making sure everyone felt included. His creative ideas and suggestions took the night to the next level, and he really knew how to maintain the momentum.

During our consultation, Rich asked us what we wanted to achieve for our wedding day. We told him we wanted everyone to leave saying it was the best and most fun wedding they’d ever attended. Well, MISSION ACCOMPLISHED! Everyone raved and continues to rave about our wedding. Highly recommend Rich!

I cannot say enough about how helpful Rich was with our wedding. We got so many compliments on the music and how amazing he was during the wedding. Our guests were so impressed with him. He was so involved during the planning experience that we had nothing but confidence when it came to our wedding. I really appreciated his dedication to making sure everything went as smoothly as possible. SJ’s Disc Jockey offered so many options to make the wedding even better, such as uplighting, cold sparklers, and fun activities to keep the guests involved and entertained. I highly recommend him!

Best dance party ever!

We hired Rich from SJs for our DJ at Gold Hill Gardens in June of 2024. We had two pre planning meetings with him, one almost a year before the wedding and the other about a month before. The first meeting he talked a lot about games and other ways to get the crowd into the wedding. We knew that didn’t fit our personality or the vibe we wanted but we trusted that he would still be the best. And we are so glad we did! The next meeting we had filled out his planning form which asked so many good questions and had some fun ideas we hadn’t thought of such as a pre dinner dance party after introductions! We also had a live band and he worked so well with them to make sure everything flowed smoothly. We had an awesome dance party thanks to Rich!

DJ JOE IS AMAZING!
He is kind, creative, passionate, easy to work with, and he's so much fun! He made the planning process easy with a questionnaire and he had so many recommendations for fun things to add to the night. Not only did he keep the dance floor going, he made sure everything flowed smoothly with his amazing MC skills. We also loved working with Ashley who was in charge of the photo booth at our wedding. Brought the VIBES

Joe was a pleasure to work with. He was very responsive, professional throughout the entire planning process and fully understood the assignment. He provided helpful tools/worksheets to make planning our day a breeze and welcomed playlists to get an exact understanding of what we looking for. He played every song to a T that we requested for our ceremony and truly delivered on the vibes we wanted for cocktail hour and all of our guests could not stop raving about the music selection during the reception. He also surprised us with a few extras like a bubble gun that my nephew had an absolute blast on the dance floor with. We would 100000% choose Joe again if we were to do our wedding all over again (ahh we would LOVE to have our wedding again and again!) and you should too!

SJ’s DJ was recommended to us through our venue, and I’m so glad we went with them! Joe was our DJ/MC and he did such an amazing job! Your DJ can 'make' or 'break' your wedding (in our case, definitely "made'!!!)

Rich was an absolute BLAST at our wedding!!!! We told him we wanted fun, and he definitely delivered. During the planning process, he had so many ideas and the ones that we chose really made the day special. I think guests will be talking about the dinner trivia and kissing contest (go ahead, ask him!) for a long, long time. :)

Rich is really a pleasure to work with, and he really made me feel like we were in good hands. He knows what he's doing. Our planning meeting was a couple hours and he really asked about every little detail/cue/song choice to make sure we had EXACTLY what we wanted. We also rented the photo booth, and the guests loved that too.

The BEST DJ in the Area

Joe is truly the best DJ I have ever had at a wedding, and I’m lucky enough to say to was mine! He has a myriad of personal touches you can weave into your ceremony and reception, and truly knew how to keep the energy up during everything. Our guests were so impressed with all the details we put into the wedding, and a huge portion of that was from Joe’s bag of tricks! Everyone was high energy, laughing, and having the best night the entire time, and the credit really does have to go to Joe. He intimately knows the Sacramento wedding venue scene and knows how to work everything to make the night perfect. He also played the BEST music, and our dancefloor was going strong the whole night through (and we added an extra hour!) Huge thanks to Joe for making our wedding so much fun. We truly had the best time and we highly, highly recommend him if you’re in need of an amazing DJ and great emcee.

Perfect Wedding DJ

First, this review is long overdue. We got married back in March and Joe was the perfect fit for us! He is so, so much more than a DJ and made our wedding so fun from start to end. Not your typical wedding DJ!!!

We absolutely loved Joe. He was so responsive, helped us with a ton of preparation before the big day, and was such a fun and warm person to have on the mic! He emcee'ed the ceremony and reception and dancing- all in 3 different locations in our venue and easily accommodated us! None of his equipment failed, you could hear him and the music well the entire night, it was just perfect. He made the event so much fun and personalized everything for our day and our guests. It was the most unique experience and nothing like the cheesy over-the-top wedding DJ stereotype people envision! Our day would not have been as fun or as seamless as it was if it weren't for Joe. He is made for this job!! He truly was the greatest find - you will not find anyone better for your wedding.

Amazing DJ!

We can not say enough about how great this DJ service was for our wedding. From beginning to end, he was professional, resourceful, and a fantastic Emcee at our wedding! He responded right away to any questions we had, was extremely creative and fun to work with. Joe came up with great games to play with guests during dinner, and very creative ways to engage with our guests. He made sure everyone had a great time! Joe’s audio system was perfect, the microphones at the ceremony were top notch, and the sound system set-up was flawless. Joe was so perfect, we knew that DJ/Sound was one thing we did not have to worry about at all! On top of all of that, our dance floor was packed the entire night!!! If you are planning your wedding and need a DJ that will make you feel relaxed from beginning to end, Joe is your guy! We cannot recommend him enough, and are so thankful he was a part of our day!

SJ's DJ rocks! As soon as we met Rich for the first time, we knew that this was who we wanted to DJ our wedding! His sense of humor resonated with us, and we so appreciated his creative ideas and great taste in music. The planning meetings were fun and productive, which flowed seamlessly to the big day itself.

Rich did an amazing job - he got the party started, kept it going, and we were sad it ever had to end! The music choices were spot-on, as were his fun, unique spins on everything from toasts to dances. Choosing a special "last dance" was something that I had never even thought of before, but it became one of my favorite moments of the evening. Our wedding would not have been the same without him - thanks, Rich!

Such an amazing experience!

We were SO happy we had Joe as our DJ. He was knowledgeable and flexible, and gave us a great planning toolkit so we could make a plan that was exactly what we wanted. He did an amazing job translating what we wanted into a great wedding experience - notably, one of the things that makes a vendor great is how they deliver advice, and Joe was VERY helpful on this front. One of the things I asked about was very specific and Joe explained how exactly he could make it happen, but also had the experience to tell me what I might not like about my idea in reality. I really appreciated the honesty, and it gave me the ability to make a more educated decision.
We especially appreciated his flexibility in working with our venue's shorter elopement packages, and even though our planning was last minute due to covid changes, the structure he gave our meetings made it feel like a series of easy and small decisions instead of a giant undertaking. Easily the most stress-free, honest and helpful vendor we hired for the day.
We would ABSOLUTELY recommend Joe as a DJ, we could not have been happier with our experience!

Best Decision Ever

If you are looking for a DJ for your wedding then look no further. We were paired with Rich for our October wedding and couldn’t be happier with our decision to work with him. Rich is a fun and personable guy with the PERFECT DJ voice. We had a blast meeting with him to plan out the events for our wedding. He really got to know us and get a feel for what we were looking for on our wedding day. Rich has a lot of experience and helped us think about things we didn’t know to think about! We met up about two or three weeks before our wedding to outline and finalize the details. We walked in feeling unsure of how the wedding was going to flow, but that evening Rich helped us build an outline for the ceremony and reception. We left feeling confident that our wedding was going to be smooth and fun.

Rich was nothing short of fabulous on the big day! He arrived on time and immediately began setting up and coordinating with our other vendors. Our evening was so much fun thanks to Rich’s skills as a comedian and an ice breaker. He really got our guests in the groove of things at the beginning of the reception with fun little activities to get the crowd loose and engaged. We don’t think we’ve ever seen so many smiles and laughter at a reception before! Last but not least came the dancing. We had a smaller wedding so we weren’t expecting a major presence on the dance floor. But we can’t recall a moment when the dance floor was empty!

We can’t stress enough how important it is to choose a good DJ for your wedding. Our choice allowed us to have a stress-free wedding and be able to enjoy our reception. We had so many guests approach us with compliments, the flow of all the events was seamless due to Rich. We could NOT have made a better choice. Do yourself a favor and hire these guys for your wedding, you won’t regret it! Thank you Rich and SJ’s Disc Jockey for making our big day so stress free and magical.

The best wedding DJ

We used SJ's Disc Jockey for our wedding in November 2020 and I can't say enough great things. Rich was our DJ for the day of and who we communicated with during the planning process. Our original date was postponed due to Covid but he was so flexible and accomdating with all of the changes that had to be made. He was easy to work with and was very quick to respond to questions/concerns. He truly understood what we wanted and exceeded our expectations. If you want a DJ that is fun, engages the guests, and seamlessly moves the event along Rich is your guy! He even had a mask with our names on it.

Coming in clutch - Great Sound & Photo Booth Services

We highly recommend using SJ’s DJ for any event or wedding. Even given uncertain times, Joe was extremely flexible with a few last-minute changes popping up like needing additional equipment and even a full photo booth rental the week of the wedding. The photo booth’s ring lighting and quality delivered was better than we could have expected and all of our guests loved the simplicity of the black and white photos.

The sound was great and all interactions were incredibly professional. We feel like we got a great value for a very reasonable cost.

Making the Night Flow with Ease & Energy

SJ's Disc Jockey Services were nothing short of spectacular! If you are looking for someone who knows how to provide smooth transitions, a continuously awesome atmosphere, great planning and superb reliability and communication, look no further! Our wedding was on New Year's Eve of 2019, into the morning of 2020, and our party was thumping all night long. He listened to our requests, followed the flow and style of our wedding and provided us with the most awesome recommendations for songs, activities, special moments and more! We were about 5 DJ interviews deep by the time we spoke the DJ Joe, and our first interview was all we needed to know that he would provide the most amazing DJ service. Since we had a wedding that went from 5 pm to 1am, we knew we needed to fill the time with activities for one and for all, and during out first phone call he had a seemingly endless list of ideas that we could pull from to make that happen! As my husband and I are both teachers, we appreciate (more than the usual suspect) how organized Joe was, how detailed his plans were, and we 110% trusted that he was going to make our wedding the flow with the energy we needed at the times we needed it. We played the shoe game, caption the picture, top 10, anniversary dance, centerpiece giveaway games, fun alternative couple kissing games, special wedding party introductions, a grand entrance dance party kick off and more! We also did our photobooth services through SJ's as well and the attendant Paul was amazing! Everyone mentioned that it was so nice to have a personal touch on the photobooth. We did both video messages as well as regular photos and it went off without a hitch! As much as we pride ourselves on being planners, Joe brings the special knowledge and know-how with a personal touch that you are looking for. Great DJ!!

Rich helped us with our wedding, and he achieved everything we asked for and more. He was very creative with the playlist, knowing what to play at the right time, and he also did some really cool stuff with the lighting. Amazing DJ!

We had our wedding a little less than a month ago at the Old Sugar Mill in Sacramento and we can’t stop talking about how great Joe was - seriously, Joe was amazing! We have been to many weddings and he is by far the best DJ! He has such infectious energy and was able to keep the party going all night. He was incredibly easy to work with, professional and was accommodating to our many asks. Joe also has a fun creative side that will make any wedding unique - he has tons of games and ways to get your attendees to interact throughout the night. We did the “top 10” question that he suggested and our guests absolutely loved it. We can’t imagine our wedding night being as special if Joe wasn’t there :). We highly recommend him for everyone’s wedding!

DJ RICH Made our day !

RICH !!!! I can’t say enough good things about Rich. We met with Rich twice before the wedding and he helped us with song selections and played them and truly gave us a day of visual. My husband and I are both very into music and we had no idea how challenging it would be picking songs. (First dance, father daughter dance, grandfather dance, anniversary dance)

As I sat down to have my makeup done for our wedding I could see Rich running around in the HEAT setting up and he looked just as excited as I did.

Everything ran so smoothly and when I see the pictures coming in there is nothing but laughs smiles and dancing. We did the table release questions, reverse kiss for guest, first dance voice over and so much more… all were HUGE hits!!

I have had so many text and emails since the wedding saying “Your DJ killed it that night”… I can’t agree more and this truly was one of the best wedding day choices we made.

Joe is super cool! Only vendor that was super responsive with me and all about making the wedding the best. Only bummer is I didn’t hear all the songs from my list I wanted to hear that I gave him. Unique and Fun Event

Joe provided the entertainment for our wedding at Scribner Bend. From the very first meeting, Joe was helpful and wanted to make our day special and something that we’d remember. Joe has many things that he can do to spice up the evening and make your evening uniquely yours. One thing he offers, that we did, was a couples trivia game to release tables for the buffet. It was so fun to watch and play along and all of our guests were into it. Joe makes sure that the evening stays on schedule without the bride and groom feeling rushed. Joe made our evening so special and we would hire him again in a heart beat. Seriously, the best DJ. Thank you, Joe. We were honored to have you be a part of our special day.

Fantastic master of ceremonies, outstanding personality, great ability to read the crowd, and overall a really fun guy. Joe Kalamaras was our favorite part of our wedding day! He is amazing!!! Joe kept the party going by playing all the right music and keeping the guests entertained. What an incredible MC! We were told that Joe was #1 in the industry, which is a true statement!

We met with him a couple of times before the big day to go over all our details pertaining to the music. He had great input and really put everything together so wonderfully. We decided to add the photobooth to our package and I have no regret. The photobooth came with a guest book of all our guest's photo strips AND a flash drive containing videos by our guests. These two things are definitely something my husband and I are going to keep forever and look back on. The photobooth attendants were awesome as well. Very nice and our guest had a lot of fun with them.

I HIGHLY recommend!!!!! Joe is the BEST!

Joe was our DJ for our wedding in May and he did such an amazing job! We met with him prior to the wedding and gave us lots of ideas to make the day even more fun for us and the guests to change up the standard traditions a bit in the reception. We felt great after the meeting that we had chosen the right DJ because he is confidant in his ability as a DJ but also the nicest guy. We ended up getting uplighting which were totally reasonably priced and his dancing/party lights were perfect! The day of went so smoothly and we got so many compliments on how much they loved Joe and how well he did with the music the whole night. Highly recommend Joe and SJ's DJ!!

I cannot say enough nice things about Joe. We had a destination wedding in Tahoe and had to do almost all of our planning long-distance. When we were looking for a DJ, Joe spent almost an hour on Skype with us to make sure he knew what we were looking for in terms of a DJ. When we hung up (even before he sent over a quote) we knew we wanted to work with him. When we decided we HAD TO work with Joe we booked him to do audio for our ceremony, MC/DJ our reception and supply a photo booth with attendant.
He not only helped us with our timeline, he had fun customized activities. We recommend the Shoe Game 
Flash forward to our wedding day, Joe arrived early to set up everything for our ceremony and reception. We basically had a dance party going the whole night with fun little surprises for me and my husband throughout the night. Joe is the best and our guests kept raving about him! Do yourself a favor and book him!

Joe was so awesome to work with!! He had so many great ideas for the wedding including a very fun way to do the grand entrance, a Newlywed Trivia game, and other surprises for us! Everyone loved the music selection, and there wasn't one time when the dance floor was not filled with people! We also rented a photo booth from SJ's Disc Jockey, which was a huge hit. My husband and I highly recommend SJ's Disc Jockey and Joe! He helped make our wedding a great celebration and absolutely unforgettable!!

Joe WOW'd my new wife and I. From the first meeting to the last dance, Joe was impeccable. He was very professional all the way through the process. We hired Joe for DJ services and room uplighting. Everything was perfect. We had the initial meeting and we were so impressed it was an easy decision. We had another meeting before the wedding and we went over all the details. The day of the wedding went off without a hitch. Could not have been happier with the service that we received. It was like Joe had known us for years. He played every song we had hoped he would play without even requesting them. He is a stellar DJ and we will be recommending him to everyone we know. Had an excellent experience with Joe as our DJ. He really wanted to make our day special. Because I was out of the area, he and i usually met via Skype for planning which was super convenient. We did get to meet him at one of the Forest House Lodge events. He got our guests involved and make them sing for their supper which was super fun. He allowed my fiance to make a 40's playlist for dinner which was really neat. I very highly recommend Joe and his DJ ability.

My husband and I couldn't be more satisfied with Joe Kalamaras! He was recommended from my best friend who hired him for her wedding. I believe Joe thought I was a bit nuts as the first time we talked to him, many months before our wedding, it took me 2 minutes to know he was the DJ we wanted. I asked him after our first conversation if he could send over an invoice so we can get things started. He told us that we should be sure and it was alright if we took some time to explore other options. I explicitly remember saying, "no, we want you, send the papers". From then on, our experience got better and better. The payment process was seamless and stress free. If I emailed him, he would get back to me within 10 minutes with a quick, easy response. My husband and I were in our best friend's wedding where we got to see how DJ Joe performed. My friend wanted; ceremony wedding, ballroom reception, every single wedding party couple had their own song to come into for the grand entrance etc. Joe met every need of hers and exceeded expectations! It was our wedding month. I sent Joe a song list schedule and at the end were the "do not play" songs. I am very Type A and let's just say this list was not easy. I even asked him to snip out part of the song that I walked down to and he did it without question. He cut songs where I asked him to cut them and he made rock, modern country, 70's, 80's and 90's songs all work together without awkward transitions. My family and friends had SO much fun and loved everything about our DJ. We had a backyard wedding and Joe managed to make all lighting and sound work perfectly not knowing what this backyard looked like before the day of. One thing that was appreciated by us as well as our guests was that Joe went table to table to excuse them for our buffet style dinner. Most DJ's would announce tables, but Joe went to a personal level and connected with the guests. What else could you ask for in a DJ?

Joe from SJ's DJs is AMAZING!! Joe provided our:
- Ceremony music & audio (mics for officiant, groom, & readers - though we had no idea that the readers would even need mics til our officiant mentioned it last-minute. But thankfully Joe came prepared with an extra handheld!)
- Reception music & entertainment
- Photo booth
- Uplighting for the reception hall

We are SO happy that we had Joe for all these services, since he made the party SO MUCH FUN (even for our fairly tame family & guests), totally smooth and seamless, and incredibly personalized! Everyone kept remarking what an incredible DJ we had, including our vendors and officiant, who have done literally hundreds of weddings and said that Joe really made it something special. He played just the right style of upbeat, danceable music and has tons of fun, interactive games that you can choose from, which all our guests really enjoyed. He also has a very calm, soothing, professional demeanor and is truly a master at what he does. His prices were also very reasonable, and even if they were much higher, he would absolutely be worth the investment! He helped our whole day run so smoothly and deserves full credit for making our party such a blast. It doesn't get any better than Joe of SJ's DJs!!!

It's hard to put into words how grateful we are to have had Joe as our DJ + MC. I'll start by saying, I am a wedding photographer. I've photographed nearly 500 weddings, so it's safe to say, I've seen the good, the bad, and everything in between when it comes to music and MC services for a wedding. I've spent the past 8 or so years working with Joe, and when it came time to hire a DJ for our wedding, it was no question. We had to have the best. Our wedding took place in Jacksonville, Florida. We flew Joe out to Florida, because we simply had to have the best!

Before we secured a definitive date for our wedding, we contacted Joe to make sure he was available. We contacted him over a year in advance, as we know he books very quickly.

If you're reading this, you might be wondering why I so amendment that Joe is the best DJ + MC a couple can have? First, Joe is extraordinarily professional, he will respond to your emails, calls, concerns, questions...and he'll do it faster than any of your other vendors.

Next, Joe is one of the kindest, most generous person you'll meet and this kindness pours out into his business. You won't find another vendor who works harder to make your wedding perfection like Joe does. Joe takes a pride in EVERY SINGLE WEDDING he does. He's flawless.

Unlike most DJ's, Joe does not call the couple "bride + groom" he know the couples name. A small detail, but worth mentioning.

He has a way of engaging your guests into the events of the day. He will incorporate your guests in a way that seem effortless and organic. He will surprise your guests, have them laughing and celebrating all night. Lastly, he has an ability to take your favorite's song list, read your crowd, and know exactly what to play song after song, to keep them enjoying every moment of your dance party. Like all the weddings I've worked with Joe, our wedding had a packed floor and if you hire Joe, so will you. He books fast, so contact him as soon as you have a date!

Joe was so easy to work with! He was happy to meet with us anytime, anyplace to go over details of the wedding. He took note of all of our "must play" and "do not play" songs and happily responded to our endless emails of changes and new ideas. He was also full of helpful suggestions when we needed them - not only of song choices, but of creative ideas for the wedding reception. The wedding day went so smoothly from beginning to end. The photos show what a great time everyone had on the dance floor. All we kept telling Joe was that we wanted a packed dance floor all night and I think he achieved that! We also loved having the photo booth, and so did our guests. I like that they put the photos into an album for us at the end of the night. And the guests could also make a videos, which were so fun to watch! I just wish we had more of those! All in all, we had a great time and we didn't want the night to end!

My new husband and I had a great time working with Joe!

We had one request which was once we kissed and were pronounced husband and wife that he would play a song but at the specific time (like a min and 30 seconds in or something like that) and my new husband and I would run down the isle. He had that song perfectly que'd up! Out of everything i heard i knew that was dead on what we wanted and both my husband and i both commented on how he got it perfect!

Throughout the day i dont remember hearing to much, i guess with all the hussle and bussle of being the bride you dont get to take in all the little things but all i know is my husband and i and all my guests danced our hearts out! We have no complaints! Joe was easy to work and had a lot of creative ideas.

Also that photobooth was a HIT!! Pretty sure everyone should have one of those at their wedding!! Joe even got in and took some pics with me! Great guy!

We had the pleasure of having Joe DJ our wedding last Friday. He was AMAZING!! He did such a great job and was on top of everything. Everyone had such a great time! I wish I could give more stars, I love Joe! I am truly sad for all brides who do not have the opportunity to work with him, he is such a fun person and really knows how to get the party started and keep the party going! In all honesty, I chose my wedding date based on the availability of 3 of my vendors, Joe being one of them, he is that good! I literally did not leave my dance floor for even 5 seconds at my wedding and I wasn't the only one, EVERYONE loved him! He knows how to read a crowd and has an amazing gift for what he does, he made our wedding day so perfect! It was EVERYTHING we wanted and we are so very thankful! Oh, and you should have seen the uplighting!!! He is truly an artist, it was so beautiful and the pictures are amazing! I had an all-star cast of vendors and literally, I could not even imagine my wedding without Joe! He took care of so many little details for me, he had everything organized and showed up early the day of (and when he got there I could tell he was actually excited, this is not just a job to him, he really cares about his brides)! He knows how to read a crowd and I literally did not have to worry about a thing the entire day, he had it all covered! He also gave us several fun ideas for things we could add to our wedding day and what we used really added to our day! We also booked Joe's photo booth which was SO much fun!! We still love looking though the pictures and video, I would definitely recommend the photo booth!! If he has your date open, book him immediately! Joe is the absolute best DJ/MC you will ever have the pleasure of working with! Not only does he have an INCREDIBLE voice, he has the personality and pure love for what he does, to make your special day even better! When we first met with Joe, we booked him immediately… A year and a half in advance… (Yes, he is that good)!! He came with an extremely high recommendation to us, and it was easy to figure out why.

Joe was extremely warm, welcoming and excited to meet with us! When we told him about our story and what we had planned for our day, he started giving us ideas for how we could make it authentic to us. He is ingenious!! Every element that made our wedding day special (to us), came from meeting with Joe. We would come to him with an idea and we would make it 10X better! We sat with him to decide what kind of music we wanted to play and other fine details. We asked that he just keep everyone on the dance floor, and that he did!!

Joe was the DJ for our wedding at the Monte Verde Inn in May 2014. He did a spectacular job and we wholeheartedly recommend him! Joe made sure in advance that he knew exactly what we wanted—genres to play or avoid, and the tone we wanted to set for each part of the occasion (cocktail hour, dinner, dancing). He encouraged us to provide extremely detailed notes and long lists of "don't play" and "definitely play" songs and artists. He asked us for specific choices for every special ritual event like first dances, cake-cutting, bouquet toss, and first and last songs of the evening. I worried out loud to him at one point that our lists were too long and specific and we were being overbearing, and he assured me, "No, the more detailed, the better!" In the end, for the open dancing portion of our reception, Joe had an eclectic and fun playlist perfectly tailored to the crowd and sequenced just right: not once did he let the energy drop and people wander away from the dance floor. It was one of the few receptions either my wife or I have attended where nobody seemed ready for it to be over when it ended.
Joe also excels as an emcee, dropping in just the right amount of banter here and there without ever trying too hard or making himself the center of attention. He is charismatic and very entertaining. Joe encouraged us to provide him (secretly) with humorous and mildly embarrassing bios of the bridesmaids and groomsmen, which he read out loud as he introduced them, to their surprise and everyone's laughter. Joe's photo booth was also a fun and recommended addition to the package; we got an album afterwards full of the goofy pictures our guests took in it.
Logistics were completely professional and seamless. He was punctual, got everything set up without a hitch, and had a whole host of backup plans for every contingency (rain, technical malfunctions, etc.), luckily none of which ended up being necessary. We would recommend Joe to anyone in a heartbeat!

Well it is no surprise that Joe is AMAZING! Looking at all of his reviews it is very clear. The first time my husband and I met with Joe we knew we wanted him to MC our wedding. Immediately we told him we wanted a fun wedding and that is what he delivered. Our guests loved his upbeat personality and fun approach to the traditionally reception events. He kept the crowd laughing and everyone on the dance floor. If you are looking for a fantastic DJ, I would highly recommend Joe.

We also chose to add his photo booth which was a huge hit with all the guests. We got digital copies of all the photos plus guests were allowed to leave a short video clip for us.

Joe was amazing to work with! He was helpful and prompt with any questions we had and made us feel so comfortable with him taking charge of our day. DJ's are extremely important to the flow of the ceremony and reception. He facilitated smooth transitions from cocktail hour to introductions to dinner and then speeches. He knew we wanted to dance all night and he made sure things weren't lagging so we could do so! He was so great with all the music he played and was so much fun! In my opinion, the DJ plays the most important role on your wedding day. They are the ones who will either make or break your reception... so ladies and gentlemen, HIRE JOE! He is professional, efficient, and totally fun. He will listen to your requests but he also has a lot of great suggestions so be sure to listen to what he has to say. We booked with SJ's and had Greg for our DJ. He was so nice and professional. When it came to choosing songs, if there were any blank spots he had multiple suggestions and options for me to choose from. For the wedding day he arrived early to set up and did a great job on the ceremony music. Then he also kept the evening flowing with announcing when we would do cake cutting, toasts, etc. to keep us on our timeline. Once open dancing started, he played good songs that people could definitely get up and dance to. We also got a photo booth through SJ's and it was lots of fun. They provided a multitude of props for our guests and it printed two strips each time so they could keep one and paste one into a book for me and my husband. Also we received a DVD with all the pictures and they also could let guests record a short video message to us. Overall, so happy with all the services we got through SJ's. They made our day that much more wonderful!!!

What can I say that hasn't already been said about Joe at SJ's Disc Jockey? ...Joe is absolutely the most talented, charismatic, engaging DJ out there! Joe is professional, yet fun and will keep your wedding guests entertained and happy. He responds promptly to any questions that you may have and is always willing to meet to go over wedding details, check out your venue and make you feel like you don't have to worry about a thing.
I did not have a single worry about music or wedding flow with Joe. Our guests enjoyed the fun touches that he added to our day, such as the Bridal Party introductions, a trivia game, and others. Let's just say, it was 90 degree weather on our wedding day and no one left the dance floor! Joe was incredible in helping with the flow of the evening and providing valuable insight on how to make sure our night ended on a high note! He was incredibly responsive to our play list requests and even went outside of his comfort zone to play a lot of my country music requests! He was just enough presence to make sure everything went according to plan, but not too overwhelming or in your face. He worked closely with our vendors to make sure all flowed according to the timeline, and he knew all of the little details, like my niece and nephew's names for their special dance! At the end of the wedding, my nephew asked for Joe's business card so that he could come play at his 9th birthday party! Joe was a huge hit with all of the guests, he accommodated requests and made sure no one got bored.

Our DJ, Joe, was outstanding! Where do I begin? Not only was he helpful, charming, attentive to our needs, thorough, professional, on time, quick to respond to emails and inguiries, and very flexible, but he also provides the best value for his DJ services that we found anywhere! He made our wedding the best experience we could have ever hoped for! We had a very specific time frame that we needed to get everything into, and Joe worked with us in every little detail, and really paid attention to our special requests and wishes. We couldn't be happier with our decision to have Joe handle our event. He MC'd our wedding ceremony and reception for us, and kept everything moving right along with our tight schedule, and made it the most beautiful day for us. I HIGHLY recommend SJ's Disc Jockey! Let me start off by saying what a nice and down to earth guy Joe is. We got so lucky to find him. From the first time we met him at the local Starbucks, sparks flew between him and my husband. I'll say that through the entire wedding planning process, my husband never had too much of an opinion and left almost everything up to me. But after our meeting with Joe, my husband let me know that he wanted Joe to MC our wedding. I was already sold by SJ's reviews and price (he is affordable too!), by Joe sealed the deal by meeting my husband and I. We hired Joe almost a year out and during that 11 months, I'd email Joe with questions or song selections and every single time, he'd get back to me within the hour. He was beyond helpful. I met him a few weeks prior to our wedding to finalize song selections and what not and I could not have felt more comfortable come my wedding day. The whole day went flawlessly. He was the perfect guy to get the crowd going. And that voice of his...he's got the perfect voice! I only hope I'll be able to see Joe again when I attend other weddings and events. OUTSTANDING ALL THE WAY AROUND! Joe was fabulous!!!! From the moment my husband and I met Joe we knew he was our guy...he is not only professional and responsive to questions but guides you through the process of music selection to make you feel like you are part of the creation process. During the ceremony he coordinated all of our attendants so that everything ran smoothly, during the dinner he made announcements and got the attention of our guests, and during the reception he commanded the dance floor.

Everyone from our oldest guest to our youngest guest were dancing the night away as Joe picked the perfect mixture for everyone. He made the evening enjoyable and we are trying to figure out what other events we can have him back for as he was phenomenal!!!!!

Words cannot express how much we love Joe Kalamaras!! He was referred to us by our wedding venue and that was the best referral we could have gotten. Joe was kind, professional, has great music taste and just an all around fun guy to be around! The services we recieved were well beyond the value we paid. Joe accomodated any and all of our needs from pre and post ceremony music to all the MC announcements. He encouraged us to have fun introducing our wedding party before the reception started and I still laugh thinking of how he announced our friends and family. He even surprised my husband and I by changing up the garter toss. Guests couldn't stop talking about how great our party was! We also utilized Joe's photo booth service which was a great hit with our guests! At the end of the night we were presented with a beautiful photo album with a copy of all the photos our guests took along with a DVD that had all the photos and videos people left for us. We used these photos with our thank you notes to send to the guests. It was a great surprise for them. I can't thank Joe enough for all he did and our friendship we now have. He's the best the business has to offer!

My husband I just got married on 12-29-2012 and was referred to Joe from our florist, best referral ever. Joe was flexible with meeting us for our first meet and greet and even recommended a later evening appointment to accommodate our work schedule. When we sat down with Joe he gave us a lot of ideas to make our reception memorable which we ended up going with and our guest our still raving about. Joe not only was our DJ but we also went with him for our photo booth and our up lighting as well. Great decision on our part. I would highly recommend Joe for you event.

Joe was amazing!! He made sure my husband and the officiant had a mic during the ceremony so that we were heard by everyone and he didn't miss a single beat. His timing was flawless and he made sure we had all the music we wanted for all those special moments. He had a very small crowd to work with come open dancing time but he made sure to play to the crowd. He saw what songs were working to get people up and dancing and he continued with that pattern. He had all the lights going to make it fun and he was there to inform the guests when it was time for cake or dancing or toasts; he made sure everyone was informed and everything ran smoothly. Joe was wonderful!! No one better!!

Joe responds promptly and is super flexible when it comes to meetings. He doesn't ham it up as an mc and makes sure to check with the bride & groom for "do not play lists" & whether requests are acceptable. He arrives 2 hours early to set up and offers some extra services too! I really wanted his lighting but we had an all outdoor wedding in June so it would have been a waste (which he pointed out rather than just taking my money) but we did have him put together a slideshow for us. If you think you could do it yourself think again! It was professional! We also had his photo-booth which was a HUGE hit! This was entertainment for guests, a wedding favor, & a keepsake for us! Totally worth it!

Greg was our DJ and he did a fantastic job! He responded quickly to our emails and questions and was flexible with times for our appointments. He had a very professional and friendly manner as he facilitated the reception. Joe is hands-down amazing! We had a very small wedding, and initially I thought our guests weren't likely to spend much time on the dance floor, but Joe kept things moving all night long! I had no clue my parents danced like that....
We gave Joe selections for the important dances and a sampling of music we liked, but ultimately left the playlist up to the expert and man did he come through! All the songs for our ceremony were qued up perfectly, and he really set the mood wonderfully for the entire evening with his music choices. We had more than one person ask for a playlist of the dinner music, and they couldn't believe that it was our DJ that put together a selection that was so "us".
Joe was also great to work with, professional and really caring. He's completely down to earth in person, yet can really get enthusiastic and a crowd up to dance, without ever being corny or overbearing. I would recommend his services to anyone.

Very fortunately, all of the vendors for my wedding were 5-star amazing. But if I could give Joe a 6th star, I would, because he turned the wedding into an event to remember! He was there 2 hours early and handled the sound for our ceremony flawlessly. Then, for the reception, his lighting for the room was breathtaking and really set the mood for the whole evening. His easy personality quickly won the guests over as he emceed, introduced, and made announcements. Lastly, he kept the dance floor packed all night long. This was amazing in and of itself since we had repeatedly told him in our planning that we were concerned people were not going to dance. I forgot to mention that during the entire planning process, he always responded to e-mails in a timely manner and available to answer any and all questions I had.

His photobooth was also a huge hit and we couldn't have been more pleased with our photobooth guestbook, the video messages, and the photobooth pictures, which were of high quality and not cheesy at all. I got so many compliments about the photobooth and the music.

Professional, Detail-Oriented, and the PERFECT MC voice! SJ's Disc Jockey couldn't have made us happier! As many appointments/meetings as we needed, so flexible, and all the details remembered!

Joe Kalamaras was such a special find and there really isn't a DJ/MC that can compare to his pricing and quality services! He has so many extras (lighting, multimedia, and photobooths!) to offer and assistants that are super friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable!

Where to start!!??? Joe is amazing! From the first time we met with Joe, we knew we would be in great hands. He was kind, caring, personable, and fit into our budget. I knew he would be more than just a vendor at my wedding but a friend to us as well and that was important to us! This was my special day and I didn’t just want some random person we didn’t know trying to DJ our wedding. With that said he got to know us, we met on several occasions and chatted all the time via email, phone, or even IM. By the time the wedding came it felt like we had known Joe for years. When your DJ knows you and your husband verses just being a complete stranger we found that it makes for a much better reception. Things just flow better; he’s not trying to figure out what you like or what you don’t like or what to say about you when introductions come around. He already knows! Joe truly made for the best reception ever. I’m not just saying that because it was my wedding but because everyone raved about how great he was, the music was perfect, the introductions where Awesome. My husband who does not like to dance even got out on the dance floor and did the best sexy dance I have ever seen. PS Thanks again for that Joe!!! One of our friends who are getting married next year wants to have him for their DJ as well. Joe even got out on the dance floor with us and had some fun himself!! Joe did our Wedding in 2002, and it left us with an impression we have not forgotten. When we found out we had a chance to write a review for him, we jumped on the chance. Friends have told us our wedding was the most fun they have ever had at a wedding, and there is not doubt Joe was a huge part of that. What we can tell you about the service and experience is this: Perfect in every detail. Not only did he meet our expectations, he helped us discover what those expectations should be. He thought of the things we did not. He said the perfect things at the perfect times. He played perfect music, all night. He left out what we did not like, and played exactley what we wanted, and fillied it in with songs that complimented. His MC work is world class. Joe keeps the party going and is truly entertaining WITHOUT being overbearing or making it about himself. He does not try to be the star of the show, rather he makes you the star of the show. Our Wedding night was 9 years ago, and it is still the greatest memory of our lives. Thanks Joe!!

If you do not go with Joe and SJ's Disc Jockey for your wedding/event you are doing yourself and your event a disservice! I must have researched 20 or so DJ's in the local Sacramento area and although some seemed like they would work no one struck my fiance and I like Joe/SJ's Disc Jockey did. Joe is extremely experienced, extremely professional and has a voice that just screams DJ! The man should be on radio :-). Truly though there is no way to describe it better than Joe just "gets it". He understands what a modern couple wants and then exceeds even the highest expectations. He is on top of it, knows the latest trends in music, has an online library to make your life easier in suggesting tunes and best of all? He takes care of everything I mean everything! We didn't have to do more than fill out his basic form of suggested songs and do not plays and he was able to know what we would like and how to handle our guests requests at the ceremony. He is organized with notes and his own timeline and flow for the day. He not only is a fantastic DJ but he hosted our event as the MC in an amazing, fun and professional way. I can not speak highly enough or do him justice in a short review but know that even the most demanding brides (which I possibly was!) will be able to put their trust in Joe and not be let down!

Joe was absolutely wonderful to work with! He made sure everything we wanted was executed perfectly, and that our wedding was a spot-on reflection of us as a couple!
Music was very important to us, but we didn't want to micro-manage every detail... Joe took everything that we talked about, and then read the room to come up with the PERFECT playlist. We were able to put complete trust in him, and just enjoy the celebration with our guests.
Thanks to Joe we were also able to have a photo-booth at our wedding! It was something we wanted, but weren't sure we could afford, and Joe made it possible. He even added a 15 second video feature! Everyone loved it, and now we have a disc of all the pictures and videos to remember our day.
Joe is a class-act with a great personality! He's a genius at reading the room, and goes out of his way to help and support the bride and groom. I recommend him to anyone who is looking to have an awesome celebration without any cheesy gimmicks.

When you imagine how your wedding day will go, with everything working out perfectly and all of your guests having the time of their lives, that's how it went with SJ's Disc Jockey at our wedding. Joe, is the most professional, flexible, and pleasant DJ you could ever ask for. With Joe at the helm, we actually had "The Perfect Wedding." We knew when we booked Joe along with our other vendors that we were getting an "all-star" cast...but on wedding day, he exceed all of our expectations. He really managed our wedding so well, and yet he stayed so low-key and just let the wedding happen. We HIGHLY recommend SJ's Disc Jockey to ANYONE who's planning a wedding...even if you've already booked your DJ. It's not too late. Just call them up to cancel and tell them you're going with Joe instead. They will understand.

We worked with Joe's partner Greg. Greg was great! We had two meetings with him prior to the wedding, and he truly delivered on his promises. He arrived with plenty of time to get set up, and worked with family who was helping with the ceremony music, and reception. He was very responsive to our needs, and delivered an awesome party! We danced right till the very end, and so did our friends and family. Wish we could have another wedding so we could hire him again, he won't disapoint.

Hello future brides! If I could title my wedding, and bottle up my experiences with my different vendors., I would call it "A Dream Come True". I am that girl that has been dreaming of my wedding since I was a little. In fact every Halloween, I asked to be a bride. To me, I wanted my wedding to be perfect... to be a fairytale. I knew the flowers I wanted, the kind of music I wanted to dance to, the type of dress I would wear, and that I wanted a great photographer to capture each moment... what I didn’t know was how to make all these dreams/ideas in my head a reality.
To me, the music at a wedding is so important. I come from a rather traditional background, and knew that when I found the right DJ, he would understand all my needs. Well, my friends, Joe Kalamaras of Sj’s Disc jockey is the absolute epitome of what you hope your DJ would be. I knew Joe from a few years back, but had never seen him DJ. I had only heard great things.
I tend to be a bit of a perfectionist , and so I decided to call Joe and unload on him. I had all these concerns ; what volume the music would be played at, would he know to have classics during the ceremony, but be able to pump up the fun for the dancing? Let me just say, Joe was made to DJ. He is the absolute professional. In just a ten minute phone call, Joe made me completely feel at ease, and even get really excited. He was going to personally cater our wedding to fit our style, our guests, and he even had awesome up lighting that would make my dress stand out and photos POP! Needless to say, I knew I found my DJ for our wedding. Our first consultation was just casual. Joe came over to our house, and brought a simple, yet detailed worksheet with him. We were able to completely customize our wedding : the music that was playing when the guests arrived to the ceremony site, to the groom having a microphone on him so that the guests can hear the vows, we got to pick a fun song to walk back down the isle to (as a married couple!), and then even as the guests arrived at the reception room, he had things pre-setup so it was one seamless transition .
Our reception went great, all the verbal ques we had planned with Joe, went off without a hitch (we had a few things that were different – my husband was a Marine, so we had Joe do a little speech and acknowledge those for their service, and had a patriotic song in the background. I also sang a song to my husband and Joe had the music perfectly cued up and the microphone ready). I cannot give Joe enough appreciation for how wonderful he was. He even took the time to get the correct pronunciation of our wedding party’s names!!! Joe was the ultimate professional. Two things we opted for that we totally suggest too : a photo booth (he provides funny hats/glasses & customizes the picture strips to your wedding colors) and then the up lighting. Absolutely made a difference in the photos… all your guests literally glow!
There are a lot of things that make a wedding truly perfect. To us, Joe was someone who understood timing, and really knew how to get the party started. We even partied until 3am!!! It was a record for our wedding venue.
My dear brides, if you are stressed about finding the perfect DJ, look no further. Joe will make your wedding a fun and memorable event! Thank you Joe Joe! You are the BEST!!!

Joe was one of the best decisions we made on a vendor! He is super professional and far from "cheezy" which is what we were going for, lol! My fiance's relatives and family are a bit shy compared to my side and Joe definitely got the party started..and both sides said how much fun they had and what a great selection of music there was. Thanks to Joe of coarse. We also did the slide show with him where we provide photos and both of us got teary eyed when Joe played it at our wedding. Anyway, I can rant and rave for a while on Joe..he really is a great DJ. :)

Joe was not only extremely helpful and professional from start to finish, he was also incredibly friendly and supportive. We made several changes to our original plans and every one of them was fulfilled just the way we wanted. Whenever we had a question, Joe had an answer. From the very first meeting we were completely certain that we weren't going to have to worry about anything DJ related at all. Needless to say, he arrived early to our reception and had everything setup and ready before we got there, he did a fantastic job setting up (the uplighting was beautiful) and the sound quality and timing of the music was phenomenal.

Thank you Joe for a better evening than we could have hoped for!

Our Dj Joe really honestly made our wedding a day and night to remember!!!! The wedding and reception flowed beautifully from start to finish. Joe thought of all the details and made are wedding day so special for us. He played all the right music so we danced the night away. I had so many guest comment on how wonderful the DJ was. The photo booth was also a hit, and something I highly recommend having at a Wedding. After meeting with several DJs in the area, my (now) husband and I immediately knew when we met Joe that he would be the one we hired. His easy-going attitude and desire to keep the crowd out on the dance floor made our wedding so much fun! Countless people have commented on what a great job he did and how no one was ready to leave when the night was over.

Joe also took care of the lighting throughout our venue and I would definitely recommend adding that to your package. What a difference it makes!

Looking back on our wedding, I could not be happier with how everything turned out and I especially love that Joe took the time to record our vows and mix them into "our song." That keepsake will last a lifetime. Thanks Joe!

Joe is an amazing DJ.He has a nice selection on music and made sure our wedding was always upbeat all throughout the night.

Joe is quickly becoming our "family dj"! He is so easy to work with and kept the partying going. He was willing to travel for a really reasonable fee and also provided a screen and projector for our slideshow (again, for a reasonable fee!).

Joe, our DJ was great! He took lots of request from the wedding party and left the "cheese" out of the wedding. When our gutair player got stuck in traffic, he ended up doing the music for the wedding ceremony as well! Great guy and works closely with our wedding vendor, Mondte Verde Inn. 5 Stars!

Joe is a very good dj and does an excellent job. He is very professional and easy to work with. We did not have any issues or problems. He has a large selection of music.

Joe was wonderful. He was so easy to work with! Our wedding was 400 miles from where we lived, so we had to do a lot of things from a distance. Joe always emailed or called back within two hours of my contacting him. He has a wide selection of music, and he was very professional during the entire event. He did a great job emceeing the reception too!

Nick Javier was really fun to work with. He really made the party happen for our wedding. The sound and lighting were great, too. He listened to our music taste and executed it well. I was a little frustrated during the cocktail hour because I thought we had a specific plan for music type, but he played more dance-type music. Otherwise, he clearly has a lot of wedding experience. He kept a good timeline and planned music with us for details I would never have thought of, like cake cutting. I’m super happy we went with him for this one-time amazing event!

It only took five minutes on a conference call to know that we wanted to work with Joe Kalamaras (SJ's DJ). We instantly felt comfortable with him and trusted that he would deliver as an MC/DJ. However, we had no idea that not only would he meet our expectations - he would exceed them.

Joe was very flexible and receptive of our many song requests (including playing the "Jaws" theme song as a pre-bridal processional tune to help break the ice). He found great ways to improvise throughout the event, and brought a lot of joy and humor to the day. He has a great list of wedding activities, including neat ways to dismiss tables to the buffet table or get guests involved in the reception. We are pretty sure our wedding was a lot funnier than it would have been with any other DJ!

We know we paid more than we initially budgeted and had even received quotes for, but Joe's experience and skill was worth every single penny. We wish we could party with him every weekend!

My husband and I had Jeremy with SJ's as our DJ for our wedding at the Monte Verde Inn (amazing venue btw). Jeremy was great to work with and absolutely delivered what we were looking for in a dj. The music was awesome and nothing was "tacky" as I've seen with other DJ's. I was able to dance the night away which I've always wanted for my wedding. Thanks Jeremy for helping us have the wedding of our dreams! Highly recommended :)

The DJ was awesome. He palyed all the songs we requested and really kept us on schedule throughout the reception. He also provided the music and the mike for the ceremony, which was great. Everyone at the reception loved the music he chose to play during dinner, kind of a Frank Sinatra type mix. He really made the night. Tons of our guests stayed and danced until the last dance, one of my favorite's Livin' on a Prayer, which ended up being a sing-a-long.

I had such a wonderful experience working with Joe and Rich. Rich was our man for the day of, but Joe stepped up to the assist if Rich wasn't available during any part of the planning process. They are NOT a discount DJ. They may cost a little more, but damn are they worth it!
We were looking for a very fine tuned DJ. To us, a DJ should:
- understand the importance of the emcee side
- entertain but not steal spotlight
- engage guests
- provides suggestions and opinions during planning
- understands it's ultimately the couple's day and decision
- easy and fun to work with

And wow, did we find everything we wanted. I truly enjoyed working with Rich and would received a ton of compliments from the guests. There was always more than 10 people on the dance floor at all times. The party was a solid 2.5 hrs of dancing and no one stopped! AMAZING!
