Amazing experience!

I honestly cannot express how amazing Mel was. I had originally planned a surprise proposal with Shoebox to take photos. We had an amazing plan laid out and then Covid-19 hit. They were fantastic at creating a whole new local plan, including location scouting and area set up. At the shoot Mel was incredible, it was so easy going, comfortable, relaxed and an absolute joy. She captured the moment so perfectly, we both couldn't have been happier. Thank you guys so much!!

BEST Photographers of all time.

Mel and Rob were fabulous from the day we hired them to the day they sent out our pictures! During the lead up to the wedding they even gave us recommendations for hotels as we were unfamiliar with the area! Once we met the day of the wedding they were so relaxed and calm it took away my photo jitters as we are NOT used to being in front of the camera! Mel helped us pose and gave us all the direction we needed! They are both so friendly and welcoming all our guests loved having them around. And the pictures they delivered were just SHOW STOPPING so gorgeous! Even the pictures of the venues and flowers are stunning they didn't miss anything! I have so many pictures of my loved ones now and we all look like models the lighting is perfect the angles are perfect its all perfection! I cannot recommend them enough!! If you are thinking about hiring them do yourself a favor and DO IT.

Shoebox Photography is Amazing!

Mel and Rob were so much fun and great to work with! From our first email, they were quick to respond and very informative. The day of the wedding they were great at capturing everything and fit right in with our family and friends. They are amazing at getting all the right shots but not being in the way. They were also extremely helpful in creating the days timeline and showing us what to expect. They are the sweetest couple as well! The day after the wedding, we did a romance session and my husband and I may have showed up still a wee bit hungover (oops). On top of meeting us at our hotel to pick us up, Mel and Rob were amazing and even bought us bottles of water (thanks again) to help us.

Additionally, we received the photos in a timely manner and they were AMAZING! We have gotten so many compliments on them and the quality of their work is unmatched. I can not recommend them enough. Thank you Mel and Rob!

Absolutely amazing

I can’t say enough amazing things about Mel and Rob! They made our wedding day extra perfect. They feel more like friends rather than 2 people you just met. I couldn’t recommend them more.
Once we got our photos back I was in shock they were so perfect and beautiful I couldn’t believe it. We get compliments every time we show someone a wedding photo.

Wonderful people

There are so many things I could list on why we loved having Mel and Rob document our wedding. They both are such a joy to be around and I’m so glad we choose them. I particularly loved the way they edited their photos which is what drew me in when I first discovered them on Instagram. Then after our Skype call I knew we were going to hire them bc you could just tell they really care and are genuinely awesome people. Spending our day with them was an absolute pleasure they were fun, professional, and organized in all the best ways. Our photos are absolutely stunning and we couldn’t be happier.

Exceptionally wonderful

Two different counties, major contracts, the responsibility of capturing once in a life time kind of photos. I wasn’t once worried. Rob and Mel’s work speaks for itself, but what you can’t see from social media post is the process of working with them. We began chatting, and before we put the deposit down we FaceTimed. It was incredibly natural, they are the most friendly, outgoing couple who made this whole experience, effortless. Every email we sent was answered minutes after pressing send. Questions that don’t regard my photos, like should my groomsmen wear shoes and where can my husband get a haircut, was happily answered. Unexpectedly expecting, and seven months pregnant I was extremely self conscious. Thankful for Mel & Rob making sure they got all the right angles, and for being super considerate the entire time. They are artists, professionals, and they definitely define couple goals!

Only the BEST Wedding Photographers!!

If we were to look back at the many decisions we made for our wedding, one of the best ones was hiring Rob and Mel as our Wedding Photographers. It took us some time, narrowing down who to go with because there's just so many out there - and like every bride, it's one of the most overwhelming parts of planning!! I stumbled upon Rob and Mel's photos, and IMMEDIATELY fell in love. From their style of photos, the candid shots, lighting, the softness - all of which were above par with what I was looking for. I instantly get that romantic vibe in their photos. In our case, when we received our photos, we instantly felt like we were re-living our wedding day - all were just beautiful, we were at complete awe! I get endless compliments on how beautiful our wedding photos turned out, and I am so proud to show it off. Put your complete trust on them, I guarantee they will capture the BEST photos. They will go above and beyond to get you the shots you want, even if that means chasing the sunset on the beach 30 minutes before your reception because we requested beach photos :D Totally worth it! Punts Cana Wedding, Jellyfish

My Husband and I always knew that when we got married, it would be a Destination wedding. So after waiting 10 years for him to finally propose, I already had my wedding planned. The only thing my particular Venue didnt provide was a photographer. With the help of social media I took to instagram and Facebook and immediately fell in love with Melinda and Robs style of photography. And after booking them for our engagement photos while we were on vacation a year before our wedding we fell in love with their personalities.
Our wedding photos are so beautiful and Melinda and Rob captured every moment of the day/night that was important to us. I CANNOT give these guys enough credit on how they were able to direct a "slightly" drunk and very hot group of people and capture such amazing shots.
One moment that stuck out that day was when we tried to bussel my dress. It was a complicated bussel that my bridesmaids couldnt figure out and I turn around and Melinda was on the ground busseling my dress for me! I wouldnt expect that from my photographer but shes just that amazing.
The only problem you will have with them is trying to figure out which pictures your going to print to frame because they are all so good!! Thanks again guys!

Best decision I've made!

What a dream team...seriously! Rob and Mel are a total package and I can't thank them enough for capturing the most beautiful pictures on our wedding day that will last a lifetime. When I started researching different vendors in Punta Cana, I was very selective and I'm glad I came upon them...worth every penny! Their presence was way more than I can describe into words, but you will not regret your decision I promise. Super genuine human beings and just flowed with our family and vibe. They captured moments I don't even remember taking and as most brides would say...the day goes by so fast that it's very important to make sure those moments are captured so you can relive them over and over again. Going through my gallery was an accurate display of our timeline throughout the day and that's what we had hoped for. We will forever have Shoebox Photography in our hearts forever and ever...XOXO

Absolutely Amazing!!!!

Mel and Rob are absolutely amazing at what they do, I cannot say enough good things about them and what they did for us on our day! My husband and I are super awkward picture takers, not models by any means but they made us both feel relaxed, and comfortable. They let us be ourselves and took such gorgeous shots! They are both are very professional but fun at the same time. We had such a great experience with them.
Our pictures are beyond gorgeous!! I cant choose just one shot, there's too many great shots to choose from.
We hired Shoebox based on reviews and were not disappointed. They completely exceed our expectation and I will be forever grateful for the amazing memories they captured for us!

Speechless

We were recently married at Kukua Beach Club in Punta Cana, D.R.--no regrets with our choice in wedding photographers.

Mel and Rob are two professionals who are delightful, organized, driven, and eager to make you feel as comfortable and happy during your wedding day as you are with the finished product. We appreciated everything they did from day one, their open line of communication and dialogue, and their willingness to accommodate any special requests that we may have had along the way. It was hard for us, doing a destination wedding, to pick a photographer we had not met in person, but they made it easy, even going out of their way to meet us at the venue days beforehand during our tasting.

Their ability to blend in throughout our entire day was incredible, making us feel at ease and never as if we had to pose (unless it was for portraits). They fit in like one of the guests but were capturing incredible shots the entire day and night.

They delivered our photos in promised time, and we were without a doubt blown away by a collection of memories we will treasure for the rest of our lives. Their photographic vision, creativity, and their attention to detail cannot be understated, and believe us when we say this comes from two very particular and hard-to-please people. We would absolutely recommend them to anyone: other family members, friends, and strangers alike.

Best. Day. Ever.

It is hard to even find words to describe how absolutely perfect our entire wedding day was - and Rob & Mel from Shoebox were a HUGE part of that!! My husband & I knew we wanted a small, intimate wedding on a tropical beach somewhere... and that was it. With that in mind I started my research, which consisted mostly of Pinterest browsing & googling "Best Destination Wedding Venues", and one day I came across a photo gallery of a wedding at Jellyfish Restaurant in Punta Cana. I fell in love. Not only with the venue, but with every. single. picture. in the gallery. The entire day was captured so well, every detail was perfect & the lighting had me in awe. Right then & there I knew that was the spot, and that I wanted Shoebox to be our wedding photographer.

From the very first email with Mel I knew I had made the right decision. Her & Rob were both so welcoming and we instantly felt comfortable with them, as if we had known them for years. Our wedding day was PERFECT. There is no other way to describe it. We didn't even feel as though we were having our picture taken, but when we look through the photos it takes us right back to that day. They capture moments that you don't see while they are happening. They capture details that you don't even notice. Their photos had our entire family in tears as we re-lived that day for the first time. They are not just photos, but memories that we get to cherish forever... and for that, we are forever grateful. And... just like that gallery I stumbled upon, we love EVERY. SINGLE. PICTURE.

Best Photographers Ever

I highly recommend this couple to photograph your wedding needs. We got married 5/26/18 in Punta Cana and everything we booked was sight unseen, including the photographers. We couldn’t have been more pleased with Mel and Rob. We, as a couple, do not love taking photos and were happy that their style included a lot of candid shots. They made us feel very comfortable the entire time and we had some fun and very beautiful shots. I can’t say enough wonderful things about them. Their communication was prompt and they made everything flow seamlessly. You’d be a fool not to book them.

Dreams Punta Cana Wedding

Working with Shoebox Photography was an amazing experience. I had been following them on social media before I got engaged and loved the style of their work. Mel and Rob from ShoeBox Photography were a BLAST to work with. From the beginning, Mel was super helpful and accommodating. We had our consultations via FaceTime since she was enjoying the sunshine in the Dominican and I was stuck in cold Edmonton. We emailed back and forth, and she even helped me envision our Vancouver venue since I never actually saw the venue before booking it. The wedding day went by really smoothly. I am forever grateful to Rob of ShoeBox Photography. His professionalism, knowledge, and reliability gave me a sense of ease on my wedding day.

My wedding took place in Punta Cana, Dominican Republic on May 20, 2017. I came across ShoeBox Photography while researching Dominican Republic photographers and I instantly fell in love with their photography style. Their bright, crisp, candid photos were exactly how I wanted my wedding day to be captured. ShoeBox was prompt in answering all e-mails and were flexible and understanding when I needed to change reception venue locations 3 months before my wedding due to an unforeseen circumstance.

My husband and I just got married at the Jellyfish Restaurant in Punta Cana on 12/16/17 and we cannot say enough good things about ShoeBox Photography! Melinda was unable to attend but Rob and Maxi were amazing and totally kept us calm and collected when we were chasing the sun trying to get all of our pictures in! We won't see any pictures for a couple weeks but Rob and Maxi were EVERYWHERE and I have total confidence that we wont be disappointed! Shoebox Photography is comprised of two photographers who are a dream team. Our wedding day was amazing, and working with Mel and Rob added to it. We had a destination wedding and had never met them in person, but between skype calls and emails, they were so responsive, kind, and filled with great ideas. We had to move up the time of our wedding by 30 minutes, and of course, Mel and Rob were so flexible and understanding. This team is the total package. Not only did they help to perfectly capture all the sweet and fun moments of our big day, but Mel helped to figure out my elaborate bustle, helped put on my shoes, and was a blast to work with. Rob quickly became my husbands favorite person - he was funny, relaxed, and helped to make sure the day went off without a hitch. Melinda and Rob were one of the first vendors we booked and it was one of the best decisions we made. Melinda was responsive to emails and answered all my questions prior to booking and during the planning was a helpful resource for our destination wedding.

I LOVE LOVE everything Mel & Rob do. Their creative eye and love and talent for photography is simply seen in their work. My now husband surprised me with a proposal when we were doing a weekend getaway to Punta Cana March 2016 to also check out some venues, which is where we first met Melinda. I was so nervous about being on camera so nervous about taking pictures freaking out about how I would pose, what is my good side, which angle will look better. But it was NOT like that at all. There was no posing per se or worrying about what to do next but my hubby and I just enjoying each other and our pictures came out so natural. They of course helped guide us to get some really nice shots. We fell so in love with our wedding photographs that we made an easy decision to hire them for our wedding day. Fast forward to wedding day. They are so professional, thorough and SO MUCH fun to work with. The day flew and they were always around shooting and capturing our best memories. Choosing a wedding photographer is a big deal and we could not be any more pleased/excited/in love with the final product! <3

Choosing Melinda & Rob to photograph our wedding was the easiest and best decision we ever made! Not only are they extremely talented photographers, they are the sweetest couple you will ever meet. They made us feel so comfortable and blended right in with our guests. When we received our photos, we couldn't stop looking at them. They truly know how to capture every special moment. When my husband and I first discovered Shoeboxphotography we were in complete awe with all their photos. It was an easy decision to choose them as our wedding photographer. We loved the authenticity and lightness behind all their photos. Their relaxed energy made it easy to be yourself in front of the camera. My husband and I aren't really the "pose for the camera" type of people, but Rob and Mel made it so comfortable and fun. They played music while we took our photos that really helped us make fun of the whole thing, instead of the pressure of having your photo taken. We recently just got our copies and they are beyond beautiful. They capture our day so perfectly. All the special moments you want to be photographed, were, and we couldn't be happier with them.

The best decision we made for that day was to hire Mel and Rob. They are the BEST! Right from the start they made us feel comfortable and it felt like they were part of the wedding party. I felt an instant connection with them. Our wedding picture are absolutely amazing. All of them are perfect, well taken and so romantic! We have some much appreciation and love for them. Trust me you can't go wrong with them and it will be the best decision you took for your special day!

My best advice with Shoebox Photography: BOOK NOW BEFORE ITS TOO LATE!

Mel and Rob really are the best. We were first drawn to their incredible work after seeing some of there photos on their own blog posted in a Facebook group and also on Style Me Pretty. We loved how soft and simple all of the images were. In each of the weddings that we had looked at it they were able to catch all the right moments that we were looking for: stunning portraits, beautiful ceremony, fun candids, and so much more. You know what is even better than looking at past weddings on their blog though? Looking through your OWN gallery from Shoebox Photography! I have looked through our pictures a million times, they really are perfect. I find myself scanning through and saying "oh, I love that one, I love that one, that one too!" I love them all and so do those that we have shared them with.

Having Mel and Rob shoot our wedding felt like having two long lost friends doing the job. They make you feel like you’ve all known each other forever and it is easy to relax and be yourself in front of their cameras. The day of the wedding we actually decided to add on another hour and they were very flexible and accommodating to this. Not only were they able to capture more of our big day, but we also got to have them around a little longer (and once you meet them, you’ll see why this is SO great too). One touch that we loved that we have never had with any other photographer: portable music during our portraits. We can’t even tell you how much we loved this! And playing our first dance song during our first look…(*tear*), just genius. Oh, and do the first look for sure!!!

My husband and I really cannot say enough great things about Mel, Rob and Shoebox Photography. Do yourself a favor, stop worrying and book with Shoebox. You will not regret and and you will have incredible images to remember your day with.

Melinda & Rob with Shoebox Photography were truly amazing for our special day in paradise! When I first contacted them through email, they were very responsive and thorough with answers to my questions. She did not pressure us into making a decision right away and was respectful of our budget. Fast forward to our special day- the couple was so key in keeping the morning (for our wedding) rolling so we could be on time and not miss that beautiful sunrise! The couple caught every important moment on our wedding day and with such ease. We did not feel overwhelmed or bombarded with cameras. It was nice to have Rob there to shoot photos of the men getting ready while they still felt at ease. I will share two tear jerking moments for me while looking at our final gallery- Melinda had caught a moment between our wedding decorator and I- that I had no idea she even saw much less caught on camera and the second moment was my 10 year old brother tearing up after his newly married big sister gave him a hug after the ceremony. It meant so much to me to look at those photos because the moments on your special day go by so fast that sometimes you need a photo to remind you just how sweet it truly was.On to our romance session-My husband and I say often that we are so thankful that we scheduled it a few days after the wedding because it gave us time to let moments and memories soak in from our special day but still allow us to get dressed up again and take more pictures. We jammed out with her and felt so relaxed and in the moment for our sunset pictures. We remember every second of those moments just holding on to one another as a newly married couple. Melinda and Rob are both very kind, genuine, family oriented people that have incredible talent. The monetary value to comes with their services is truly worth every penny because they gave us so much more than incredible photos. We are glad to call them friends for life!

Melinda was absolutely the best! She simply went above and beyond to make sure that we had beautiful wedding pics. Hiring Rob and Mel was the best decision I had made! They captured every single detail and our emotions on our special day and.. I was shocked of how the photos we had received!! We received HUNDREDS of photos and each one of them are absolutely breathtaking. I know choosing a photographer to capture your special could be very difficult but trust me Rob and Mel's work are so beautiful, you would not regret your decision. Check out there Facebook and you would understand what I meant when I say there pictures are breathtaking! They are a wonderful couple who are very easy going, calm, down to earth, lots of fun and of course professional! We received so many compliments on our photos and I cannot stop looking at the photos :) We had a destination wedding in DR, so if you are getting married in Punta Cana you would save yourself a ton of money to fly them because they are in DR at certain months in the year! There are certain moments in your life where you wish you could relive over and over even as time goes by. Mel and Rob have been able to do this for us. Mel and Rob were so lovely to work with! They were fun and professional and made the whole group feel so comfortable. Many of my guests commented on how seamlessly they blended into the crowd and how approachable they were. We were so lucky to find them, they kept us on track and made sure to check into the during the day to ensure that we got all the photos that we wanted. We found Melinda and Rob by chance as we were looking for a photographer for our wedding in Punta Cana February 2015. We fell in love with their style, the natural light, and the romantic nature of their photos. Their pricing was perfect for our budget and the icing on the cake was that they were already familiar with our venue! We had a Skype session with Melinda and both my husband and I knew instantly we wanted them for our wedding. Melinda and Rob are so welcoming and friendly they really walked us through the process and helped us with great advice for the day.
Before the wedding we had a chance to meet with them and go through the rehearsal. We met their beautiful daughter and already it felt like we had known them forever. We had a team of people that helped us plan our wedding and Melinda and Rob were great at coordinating and working with everyone as a team. On the day of our wedding Melinda and Rob organized our family and group photos with ease and I don't even recall seeing them at the ceremony but needless to say when the photos came back I was stunned they got every shot we wanted! They were so professional, creative, and fun that by the end of the night we were begging them to stay and party with us!
We could not imagine our day without them! Our photos are out of this world gorgeous!!! So beautiful they were chosen to be on Style Me Pretty and for good reason as Melinda and Rob are amazing photographers!! They were able to capture all of the moments we hold sacred and now we have these beautiful memories to share with our families for years to come. We are so grateful to them for this. We loved working with Mel and Rob and have no complaints. From reaching out to them for the first time, to our Skype meeting, to the in person meeting, to the wedding day. They were on top of it, professional, and friendly the whole way through. I didn't create a timeline or have a shot list, but I knew it would all be taken care of. During our meeting Mel was creating a timeline and during the wedding she gave us all the direction we needed, and made sure we were on track. I've already seen several of the photos, and they are out of this world beautiful. I can't wait to see the rest. I have nothing but positive things to say about this beautiful photography couple. Rob & Melinda captured our day perfectly and beautifully; no single detail, person or emotion was overlooked.

Melinda & Rob made me feel comfortable from the first moment we facetimed! I loved the fact that I could have a face-to-face conversation with them, and immediately saw how sincere, professional, and passionate they were as photographers, but also fun, loving and down to earth, which was important to me that they could blend in with my group and make them feel at ease, laugh with them, be part of the pack (which they did ,and then some!!!!).

Melinda allowed me to express my creative vision for my day (and was happy to view my pinterest board for inspiration), she answered all of my questions AND helped me plan some parts of my wedding day itinerary as I was completely lost in terms of how the day should unfold with the first look, the timing, the location, the daylight vs. sunset shots, etc. Bottom line, she made me feel at ease, calmed my nerves, and I felt like she had everything under control, which I really needed in a photographer.

I can not tell you how many compliments we received on our photos. They were candid, creative, beautiful, unique, sincere, and really captured the mood of the day and night.

I am huge fan of their work and will forever be grateful and thankful to have found them as our wedding photographers.

My husband and I are able to reminisce on a day that was a blurr at moments and emotional in its entirety for the rest of our lives thanks to Rob & Melinda.

Rob and Melinda were the best photographers we could have asked for. Shoebox Photography was our favourite wedding vendor! We found them because they photographed our friend's wedding. From day one, they were extremely professional and easy to work with. They were so responsive and easy to get a hold of. They answered our millions of questions and gave great suggestions. We are both a bit camera shy - and they made us feel so comfortable. They helped customize a wedding package that met our needs and were flexible as we made changes closer to the time (number of stops, hours of coverage, etc). Our pictures turned out fabulously and we couldn't have been happier with the result. We would recommend them to anyone for any event - wedding or otherwise.

Where do I start? Throughout the hectic and stressful destination wedding planning process (Punta Cana, DR), I felt all along that I had made the right choice with my photographer, ShoeBox Photography. Rob and Melinda remained highly responsive and professional throughout the entire wedding planning process and until the very end. I knew I had nothing to worry about when it came to wedding photos. The price point was more than reasonable, and they even threw in a special romance session two days before the wedding at the wedding. Rob & Melinda have such laid back, fun personality - which worked out perfectly w/ our group of rowdy wedding party. I also enjoyed Melinda's directing, since my husband and I were very awkward in front of camera. What impressed me most is not only the end product (the pictures were gorgeous!), but the fact that Melinda was able to utilize her wedding experience to give me pointers throughout the day and during the wedding planning process. It was tremendously helpful! Although I was based out of Washington DC and they were in Vancouver - we had e-mail exchanges and Skype meetings to ensure everything is in order. My friends and family keep telling me how much they love the photos (truly impressed by the photography) - and as a photo snob, I love them too. The only regret is not being able to use their service for more milestone events, as we are back in DC. But if you are in Vancouver or planning a destination wedding in Punta Cana, you should definitely consider ShoeBox!

We found out about Shoebox Photography when I saw one of my friends wedding photos by Shoebox posted on Facebook. I loved their style right away - natural yet artistic, with soft colours that are vibrant at the same time. Dylan and I can both feel uncomfortable in front of the camera but when we met up with Mel to do our Engagement shoot she put us at ease right away and we were both able to relax and come out of our shells. The same happened at the wedding. Mel has an incredible ability to be present while taking the photos but also to be silent enough that everyone in front of the camera feels natural and not like they're on display. She was so professional and on top of things in terms of getting the best photos during our day that even some of our guests commented on how impressed they were with her. Justine - her partner photographer for the day was also amazing and made us feel so comfortable. The results of the photos were stunning. When we look through them we both feel transported back to our wedding - we have the same warm, loving, magical feelings that we had on the day because Mel and Justine did such a good job of capturing all of the different aspects of the day. I can't wait to see all of the photos from the wedding and the engagement shoot and I have no doubt that they're all going to be beautiful. Our only problem will be deciding which ones to include in our wedding album. I would definitely recommend Shoebox.

The entire planning leading to the big day was flawless with Mel and I was really put at ease because she really seemed to know her stuff and she was so calm; it definitely helped me out! I felt as though the entire getting ready and ceremony were perfect. I felt great and could really focus on my future husband who was waiting for me under the gazebo. It’s as if I did not even realize we had 2 photographers taking pictures of our every moves! After the ceremony, this is where we saw Mel & Rob in action; they knew which shots would look nice and they were just so fun to be around! My entire wedding party (make that 6 people total) loved them and thought they were SUPER nice. It was just easy for everyone and Mel took the time to show me some pics here and there on her camera; WOW!!! At our private reception, I felt as though they were really part of the group, so it was nice to have them around!
The following day we had a TTD planned for 6am… ouille! Mel made recommendations on what I should do for my hair and it just felt right to trust her; they are great at creating that level of trust you need to have with your photographers right from the start. They once again had great ideas for shots and were open to try out our ideas too; which was nice!
Two weeks went by (so long for a bride!!!) and we got our highlights on their website. O-M-G. Best pictures ever! We both look like we are straight from a very expensive wedding magazine. The pictures were all wonderful, candid shots, simply beautiful!!! Everyone who has looked at the pictures cannot believe how professional, romantic, wonderful all of the pictures are.
Mel and Rob were PERFECT to work with and seriously, you won’t regret it!!!

I'm from Toronto and Melinda and Rob are based in Vancouver. I was a little worried at first that I wouldn't meet them until we got to Punta Cana. What can I say, I shouldn't have worried at all!!
Melinda and Rob are so talented and amazing. They're photos are incredible and full of life. They have a beautiful, elegant, yet natural and unpretentious style and way of being. Aside from being two very cool and fun people, they make you feel super comfortable, are on time, answer your emails, will even Skype you if needed, are professional and very trustworthy. Planning a wedding is never an easy task and planning a destination wedding is even harder. You lose control over your choices and you definitely have to roll with the punches. We were very disappointed with the quality of photography services in the Dominican Republic. My husband reassured me that he would find someone suitable to take our photos. Just our luck he found Shoebox Photography. Melinda and Rob are not just photography professionals but an even better couple and team. Once we arrived in the Dominican they met us at our venue and went over everything we discussed in our countless emails. They asked lots of questions about us as a couple, and took into consideration the ideas and photos we wanted to see. The best thing about Mel and Rob is their connection. We hired ShoeBox for our destination wedding in November. We were instantly impressed with Mel and Rob and their laid back and chilled way of working. We instantly felt comfortable with them, which was really important to us since we wanted the pictures to look natural. Apart from being amazing photographers they are very professional and reliable which made us feel taken care of. Destination Weddings are no walk in the park but Mel and Rob definitely took a lot of stress away and made it easier. From start to finish our experience with them was wonderful. I even had guests rave about them the next day. I would recommend them to anyone. They are cool, fun, talented and amazing at what they do. Our pictures are perfect.

Melinda and Rob were amazing photographers. They were very easy to get along with and put us instantly at ease. Our engagement and wedding photos turned out spectacularly well and were beyond our expectations (go check out their blog for samples). They really listened to what our priorities for the types of shots and the feel that we wanted to get across and the end results are reflective of us because of that. I think that Shoebox provides incredible value and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

We absolutely loved working with Rob and Melinda! From day one they were so approachable and made us feel comfortable in front of the camera. They also blended right in with our friends and family on the wedding day and my goodness, they took some truly beautiful photos! They are experts at capturing those intimate, memorable and candid moments that are the ones that help bring back all of the emotions of the day. Wow, I don't even know where to begin with Shoebox Photography. Our good friends had booked with them after they were in another friend's wedding shoot. So we got to "test drive" them before we even booked. I thought their engagement shoot was amazing, then I got to watch them in action on their wedding day. We booked them almost immediately after. From staying late in the evening to capture the shots we wanted in our engagement shoot to helping navigate my bridal party before the ceremony, they really went above and beyond. They had great ideas for the wedding day that really captured in real life what we had imagined, and more. They are creative, kind, professional and fun. (They are also great dancers!)
If you are even thinking about booking with them, just do it. Booking ShoeBox was one of the best decisions we made (other than "I do")!

We took Mel with us to the Mayan Riviera, in Mexico for our wedding this past October. From the first conversation on the phone, I knew that she was the photographer for us! Mel was very professional, organized and friendly, making both my husband and I feel at ease instantly. She met with me a few times before leaving for Mexico where we planned out the wedding day together. Once she arrived in Mexico, she took the time to walk around the resort with us and plan out where our wedding photos would take place. On our wedding day, she was with us from the time we woke up until the very end of the reception, she blended in so easily with our guests that we didn't even know she was there, as she captured all the specail moments on our wedding day. We had to wait 6-8 weeks for our photos, but it was well worth the wait! The photos that she took were amazing! I would highly recommend Mel @ Shoebox to any future brides looking for a destination wedding photographer!

We first met Melinda back in February after finding Shoebox Photography on weddingful.com and purchased an Engagement Photo Shoot. We loved Melinda. Her mild, easy going nature quickly put us at ease in front of the camera. Without being bossy, she took charge and had us doing all sorts of fun and entertaining poses. We were so thrilled with the engagement photos, we immediately asked her and Rob do to our wedding.
We sat down and came up with a really great package that was very well priced. Really reasonable and competitive in today's wedding photography market.
Upon request, Melinda and Rob showed up bright and early (7am!) the morning of the wedding and immediately blended into the wedding party group (they had had a chance to meet mostly everyone a few nights prior at the rehearsal dinner, which they photographed as part of our package). They snapped and snapped and snapped some more, staging photos, taking candids and also wandering around, taking pictures of things they found interesting.
They stayed until the wee hours of the wedding night and were smiling the whole time.
I couldn't have asked for a better couple. As a team they work well and one on one they are able to take command without making you feel bossed about.
My husband and I were blown away with the final product. Roughly 7000 photos selected and edited down to 1500 or so perfect and beautiful photographs. They took the time to capture photos of everyone in the wedding party, family and friends, as well as some gorgeous shots of the dress, shoes, rings, flowers, food, etc.
People I barely know, but have seen some photos floating around Facebook, etc, comment on how magical and stunning the photos are.
Melinda and Rob of Shoebox Photography are incredibly talented and lovely people. I would 100% recommend them for any photography needs, be it engagement, wedding, family portraits, whatever. They are phenomenal!

Rob and Melinda were the perfect couple to capture the photos from our rainy wedding. We had to quickly switch to plan B when the weather did not cooperate with us. They were very professional and helped calm our nerves and make sure we got a variety of fun and romantic shots. Some of the ideas they came up with on the fly blew my mind and I can't wait to see the gorgeous results!

I remember when I first research photographers, I literally found Rob and Mel on Google. When I first saw their website, I knew exactly these guys were going to be my photographers, the rest were history. I love how not only that they capture the moment, but they also capture you also off guard! Which makes a picture worth more than a thousand words! From time to time, I go on their website to look at their amazing work. Not only have they done my wedding photoshoot, but we have done other photoshoots with them and will be doing many more in the future. Mel and Rob make an amazing team! The added bonus of having two photographers there to capture the moment is unbeatable. I never expected that my wife and I would be this understood in terms of what we were after in our pictures. So much emotion captured in every shot yet so natural. I can look at these pictures over and over again! Exactly what we were after. Pictures really do speak a thousand words.... when taken by a professional of this caliber of course.

Rob and Melinda of ShoeBox Photography photographed my wedding last August. With two photographers they worked seamlessly to provide complete coverage of the whole wedding. They were able to capture the entire day, including all the details that I worked so hard to plan. Melinda’s eye for detail was really appreciated. Both Rob and Melinda are fun and energetic, which made everyone feel at ease. Rob is genuinely funny guy and was able to make the few members of my wedding party that don't like being photographed feel very comfortable- which resulted in fantastic group shots. What can I say, these guys are a dream team. My husband and I are super awkward in front of a camera, and definitely not model material! However our photos are an absolute dream. I honestly can't believe how good I look. (I think my hubby is pretty hot, so awkward or not , I always think he looks good!).

My hubby said he loved Rob's sense of humour and I have to say - Melinda is great at handling tough situations. We did a romance session with a few days after the wedding, and being the last night of the vacation, my husband tired and in a bad mood due to a foot injury earlier in the day. Melinda handled it SO well and convinced him to proceed with the session.

Rob and Mel are so fun, and their personalities play off of each other perfectly so you get a great mix of fun and romantic shots. When I started to stress on the day of the wedding because we were running behind, Melinda was super reassuring and helped me chill out. The romance session at Macao Beach was also a lot of fun, it was nice to get off the resort and see a different area of Punta Cana. It was a lot more relaxed and fun, I'm glad we got to spend that extra time together (despite a grumpy hubby!). I'm so glad she was able to squeeze us in, because I only decided on it a few days prior to the wedding. We also got fantastic teasers from the wedding within a few days, which was perfect because I had an unplugged ceremony and implemented a social media sharing lockdown until we could share some professional pics first. Team ShoeBox 100%, you will NOT be disappointed! I only wish we thought to get a pic with them!

Rob and Melinda were awesome! I would highly recommend them to any bride looking for a relaxing, fun wedding day and great professional photography. Having two photographers made all the differences. I was so happy that candid shots were being taken while the formal shots were happening. Melinda is very creative and has great ideas for unique (and flattering) shots. Melinda and Rob were fantastic to work with! We were a bit shy and uncomfortable in front of the camera at first, but they were so relaxed and easy going that we were able to be ourselves in the end.
They captured some great candid moments, got all the details that we missed seeing with all the excitement of the day and captured our wedding with a soft cohesive style. It was the best day of our lives (so cliche I know!) and we were thrilled that Melinda & Rob from ShoeBox were there to share it with us and capture all the right moments. One thing I appreciated so much was Melinda standing up to the Restaurant GM and insisting they
let us do family photos in the neighbouring garden which has an entry fee normally, instead of in the parking lot. All in the details! Also, the website you get your photos through makes accessing and sharing them so easy. Be sure to get in touch with them early enough as they fly south for the winter!

ShoeBox was one of the Photographers recommended by our wedding planner and after looking at their style and sample online we picked them. We did our engagement photos through a friend of theirs as our schedule was tight and they were out of town on the weekend we had to take them. However, on our wedding day, they were amazing. I was quite ill with the stomach flu so I wasn't terribly helpful and was feeling terrible but it didn't show at all in the photos. They captured every photo we wanted and they came out flawless. I'm extremely happy with our photos (though I wish I had more, but I wasn't feeling great and wasn't up to more) and would recommend them. Small criticism is I had no idea how long until I'd get my photos, but I received them all in just over two months.

Rob and Melinda were great, very friendly, easy going and professional. They shot wonderful photo's and went above and beyond to assist in any way possible (inlcuding helping fix the bussle in my dress numerous times!). They were flexible and stayed an extra hour at the last minute request of us. All shots were great and they produce a great product, only feedback for us personally would be to have more guest shots (even though I know a lot of brides want the majority of shots to be of her and the groom) and I wish we had spent more time taking photos with my family....but that was our fault as we should have specifically requested it!! Would totally recommend Melinda and Rob to any couple.

ShoeBox Photography took beautiful pictures of our wedding day! When we were searching for a photographer we wanted someone who would take pictures that looked natural, while still capturing the magic of our day. We were pleased that Melinda and Rob did exactly that! Our pictures our beautiful, natural and exactly what we had in mind. Our only feedback is that the hotel had offered us a free videographer and we felt there could have been more flexibility demonstrated in working with the videographer on the day of our wedding. Overall, Melinda and Rob are talented, professional, creative and a lovely couple that I would recommend you use on your wedding day, or any special event!

Great experience

Shoebox did a great job to capture natural pictures vs super posed. This was great because you can really see everyone’s emotion and true expressions which makes you feel like you are there even when just looking back at the pictures. The one thing I felt could be improved, is that some of the pictures felt too edited and as if they upped the contrast in post production (when editing). Overall great experience and Rob and Mel are very pleasant and fun people.

Do not recommend.

I have struggled for a long time whether or not to write this review. I really just wanted to move on from the horror of dealing with Mel/Shoebox Photography. But ultimately I decided if I was getting married, I would want to know this experience before booking Shoebox Photography. I am keeping my review to the objective statement of facts.

My husband and I got married in October 2022 in Punta Cana. We began planning our wedding more than a year in advance and besides the venue, the photographer was the first vendor we signed in December of 2021.
Mel was the only person from Shoebox that I communicated with. I never had an interaction with Rob, including on the initial video chat. At the end of Sept., Hurricane Fiona hit the Dominican Republic and both our wedding venue and hotel had to close for several months due to damage. We were not getting married at the hotel, so we had to scramble to find both a new venue and a hotel for 100+ guests with mere weeks before our wedding. This was a near impossible task as four enormous hotels shut down and we were competing with many weddings and vacations looking to rebook. Our travel agent called in every favor and moved heaven and earth to rebook our wedding at a different resort in Punta Cana. We also had our local wedding planner find a new venue and we booked sight unseen. We did this to honor the contracts that we signed for an October 22, 2022 wedding.

Fast forward a few weeks. On October 14, I received an email from Mel telling me that I need to complete the second half of my payment - which I did. Her email did not mention that anything is awry. A few hours later, she sent me an email to let me know that she and Rob would not be traveling to Punta Cana to photograph our wedding. She relayed this in an email to me after business hours on a Friday 3 days before we left for our wedding. Her email noted she was "heartbroken" and "so sorry" recognizing the lurch she left my husband and I in. She proposed sending in her and Rob's place two associate photographers, but ultimately we had no choice but to go with them.
I called Mel immediately and relayed how disappointed I was. She informed me that Mica and Maxi, the two associate photographers, had actually photographed a lot of the weddings that are on Shoebox's website. This came as a surprise to me because there was no mention on the website of additional photographers and she never mentioned them or the possibility someone else would shoot the wedding.

We had no choice but to go with Mica and Maxi - two individuals who I did not meet until my wedding day. I am not sure if they read our pre-event questionnaire, but if they did not follow our requests. We did a first look so we could do our portraits prior to the ceremony and enjoy cocktail hour with our guests. Mica and Maxi took a few first look photos and then left after 10 minutes. We ended up having to miss cocktail hour and do our portraits after the ceremony, defeating the purpose of the first look. Furthermore, I have one picture of cocktail hour. There are many guests from my wedding that I have no pictures of at our wedding. Some of our older relatives and friends with mobility issues did not make it to the dance floor. As such, I have no pictures of them from the wedding. Sharing Mel's response when I pointed this out: ("I apologize that both Mica + Maxi went to the ceremony location for detail + ceremony shots and left you after about 10 min into the first look, it was the intention to do a few more portraits between the first look and the ceremony and the timeline did reflect that. I'm unsure why they both went, but perhaps it was a miscommunication. Regardless, sincere apologies.")

Mel said she would like to make it up to me. One option she provided was for me to pay her an additional $450 for her to send me a wedding album. I declined. Instead, for all of the trouble and after a few more emails from me reminding her, I got two 8 x 10 photos sent to me (~$10 value).

It is hard to put everything into one review and there are other items I am disappointed about. Ultimately I wish we had not gone with Shoebox for our wedding. If you decide to go with them, I would advise asking more questions than we did such as who will be shooting your wedding, when will you get your wedding film. Unrelated to the photography, there were several mishaps on our day, that comes with the territory of planning a wedding in a foreign country and replanning it three weeks out. I would highly recommend every single other vendor we used including the people who played the Lion King when I walked down the aisle even though I requested Canon in D. I get it that mistakes happen. However, of all of the headaches/stress/errors that come with replanning a wedding in 3 weeks in a foreign country, dealing with Shoebox was the biggest headache of all.
