I would highly recommend Reel Ting Steel Drum band. I hired them for my whole wedding event in the Florida Keys. We had a duo steel drum and flutist for live music and they provided DJ services as well. George took care of all our needs from providing microphone & speakers for the ceremony to helping to emcee and direct our guests. He was very quick and responsive to answer all my questions. He did a great job in playing our requested music and feeling out the crowd. Our guests are still talking about what a great band we had! Reel Ting is an absolute must to add that "Caribbean" feel to any event and are true professionals. I would not hesitate to recommend them for a wedding or event.

We used two of the guys for our wedding ceremony and reception-flute and steel drum. They were amazing! The song selection list was extensive and they were very accommodating to our needs.

The Reel Ting Steel Drum Band made our wedding very special by accommodating many unique requests. We wanted a lot of songs that most people have never heard of and he was able to find them all! We received numerous compliments from our wedding guest about the music. We would recommend them to everyone. They truly made our night special!

Enjoyed the Reel Ting Steel Drum Band at the amphitheater at Harbourside Place. Brought the grandkids and they loved dancing to the music and interacting with the band members. During the break the band invited the kids to try their drums and 'banter' with the band. It was a lot of fun for all!

We hired Reel Ting to play at our destination wedding in the Florida Keys. The band consisted of four talented musicians and we had them play throughout the ceremony, cocktail hour, and reception. The music complemented our “island” theme really well. However, there was some items we requested that didn’t receive the attention we had hoped for. Following the event, we brought this to the bands attention and they were considerate to our concerns and returned a fair portion of the their fee. This action of generosity was much appreciated considering everyone’s efforts associated with planning and executing this destination wedding. All in all, the wedding went really and the musicians in Real Ting are very considerate, talented and entertaining. Great island music!

George and Pascal provided a superb double act, perfect for our beach wedding! They were so friendly and got everyone dancing into the night. There was a great mix of Caribbean flavoured steel drum tunes and up to date disco music! Absolutely fantastic!

Our wedding went off on a great night where the music filled the air. From the ceremony through the reception the band was awesome. They were helpful with the annoucements and the music was appropriate for all parts. The reception party had everybody dancing till they could barely take any more. We even had friends singing who didn't know they could and now it's on video. Everybody had the best time and we would recommend the band highly. We were very pleased.

George played steel drums at our "Welcome Cocktail Party" at The Cheeca Lodge & Spa. He was very professional, on time, flexible (we had to move out event inside due to 20% change of rain), and provided great entertainment! Our guests loved the steel drum and even danced along to a few songs! Our younger guests were so intrigued by this instrument...George was so sweet and let a few of them play it themselves! This event was a great start to our destination wedding weekend and George was great throughout our 4 hour party!

I recently hired George Pollis to play the steel drum at my daughter's Graduation Party . There were many issues regarding logistics that George was able to rectify in a timely manner. I am glad that he took the time to communicate with me and assure me that the entertainment provided would be acceptable. His replacement , Pascal, was a wonderful musician. I would recommend him or any member of his band to play for your next event. Erica Anello

We enjoyed the personal attention we received from the band members during our special occasion at the Burger Bar in Jupiter, FL! The music was outstanding and fun! Every band member interacted with the audience and even let kids "try" their drums. It was like being in a show!

We had the pleasant experience of celebrating an important milestone in our lives with the Reel Ting band performing in the background. We loved the sounds and the way they got along with the people at the event. Outstanding professionalism and presence - and a ton of fun. We will definitely seek them out again for events in Florida. Thanks guys!

What a beautiful combination of sounds - steel drum, flute and violin! George, Brian, John, Carol went all out to make our daughter and son in law's wedding ceremony and cocktail music unique and joyful! Even with uncooperative weather they were flexible and generous with the music, time and quality they provided! What professionals! Thank you!!

The Reel Ting Steel Drum Band were a pleasure to work with. They were true professionals from start to finish. They returned all our calls, and answered our emails, and even sent us a press kit and a song list for our review. I received numerous accolades about the bands performance from our guests. They played at my Beach Ceremony and did a great Job. These guys are awesome!

I saw the earlier negative reviews for Reel Ting and I just had to post my review because I had the best experience with the entire band, the music they played, and their professionalism.

We planned our destination wedding to the Florida Keys, which went off without a hitch (except for us of course)! We depended on the band to perform our beach wedding music and the reception music. The steel drums were incredible! Their version of Cannon in D and Somewhere over the Rainbow on the steel drums were just beautiful! The Band was great. They had us up and dancing all night. We had our wedding at the Islander Resort in Islamorada, FL, which was over one thousand miles away from our home. It was well worth the trip!!! I would recommend The Reel Ting to anyone planning a tropical wedding.

I hired the Reel Ting Band to perform at my Wedding @ the Sailfish Club in Palm Beach Florida. The Reel Ting Band did a wonderful job at our Wedding. We asked George for a couple of our special songs for the first Dance and the Daddy/Daughter dance. They performed them brilliantly. I have listened to a lot of Steel Drum Bands to date, however these guys are top on my list. I just purchased their album on Itunes so I can listen to them on the road! Their Steel drum music was upbeat, fun, and we all had a great time interacting with George and his band while doing the Congo dance. There were on time and very professional. I would highly recommend them to anyone.

A++++This was a surprise for my hunnie. I found George through a recommendation from Cathy @ Marriott Key Largo. He was so good to work with - we went over everything, he corresponded quickly and promptly. They showed up on time and played the vibe of music I wanted. I would definitely recommend, one of my favorite vendors :) They even have a website I listen to at work.

    Reel Terrible

I hired Reel Ting after speaking to George and he assured me of the quality of his band and DJ. I requested three songs for the ceremony, and they played two of them properly. I requested an entrance song, and they claim they played it, but the video of the wedding and the real version of the song are very different. Essentially, I walked into what sounded like elevator music.
The ceremony music went as planned, but when it came time to the reception, there was little to be desired. The band went from 4 people to 2 and there was no live music as was promised in the contract.
The speakers Reel Ting used were indoor quality for an outdoor wedding, so you can imagine the static and volume loss. When it came time to the last 90 minutes, the dance music provided by the "DJ" had lags spanning 30-90 seconds. Those moments of awkward silence were simply humiliating and embarrassing. They claimed it was due to poor internet which made no sense, but apparently, they were streaming music from youtube.
When I asked George about this during the wedding, his response was that he arrived at 1pm, so he could justify to himself leaving at 8pm even though the contract stated 4:45-10pm.
The band requested two tents, one for the ceremony and one for the reception to house two people, an indoor speaker, and an iphone.
Another plus was when the DJ accepted song requests from wedding crashers in shorts and flip flops.
Please do yourself a favor and continue shopping for a vendor with integrity, work ethic, and knowledgeable to supply the right equipment for the right job.

Reel Ting Steel Drum Band's reply:

I want to say that I take full responsibility for not meeting Sandra Romo and James expectations. With over 2000 Weddings performed in our 21 years of operation sometimes you miss the mark of meeting the expectations. I'd like to address a few issues about the entertainment we provided their wedding day. Starting with the Wedding Ceremony we were asked to provide three Classical Arrangements The first one " Song to the Moon" composer Dvorak. The second song "Cannon in D" Pachelbel. The third Song "Wedding March " Mendelssohn .Sandra Romo did not care for our rendition of "Song to the Moon" . We performed this song using the published chart/sheet music that University of Miami Frost School of Music uses on Symphony productions. We were two musicians a Flutist and a Steel Drummer trying to cover for a 40 plus piece orchestra. I had offered Sandra Romo an Opera singer from our school to sing this arrangement ,however she declined. Again I take full responsibility for not meeting her expectations on this composition. I would like to address Sandra Romo comments about not providing three hours of Live music. We performed three hours of live music. In fact, we performed in excess of three hours as the reception was running behind and additional song were called for so there was no down time. Sandra Romo statement is inaccurate. Again, I take full responsibility for not meeting her expectations. I would like to address the wedding crashers issue she mentioned. I believe that these wedding crashers were friends of the EMC from Russia that they hired independently and they were requesting Russians songs genre. I was not hired to provide security at Playa Largo and we are not supplied guest list. We just try and please everyone at the weddings to make it a memorable event. I take full responsibility for the Russians wedding crashers. I would like to address Sandra Romo comments about the DJ's performance and the lag on time loading additional songs not were not provided to us in advance and were not on the original play list that she provided to us. We requested a playlist from Sandra Romo and she sent it to us. We downloaded all of her requests. We were asked by her guests to play songs that were not on the original list that she provided to us. In order to accommodate her we downloaded the song via of internet services provided by Playa Largo Resort. There were delays as the internet signal was weak, however the song were downloaded and played as requested. I would like to address the equipment issue that Sandra Romo mentioned. Our sound equipment is designed to provide between 90 and 120 db. These standards are provided by OSHA's standards for noise exposure. We were asked to reposition the speakers to accommodate Sandra Romo. We moved the speakers closer to the Dance Floor. The Dance Floor was packed with their guest and they were dancing. Again, I take full responsibility for not meeting Sandra Romo. In closing I received a heart felt Thank You note from Sandra Romo and her Husband thanking us for the wonderful music we provided. In addition, I had the opportunity to meet James her new husband and their children and they thanked me and complemented our band on a job well done. Again I take full responsibility for not meeting Sandra Romo expectation . I wish this beautiful couple and there family the best of luck in their new Journey as Husband and Wife and may God Bless them.

Nothing in this review comments on the quality of the musicians, as that was never the problem. When they played, they were good. The problems I had were with the management and the final product we received. George and I have very different memories of how the day went down, however the only thing that actually matters is our perception as we were the customer and our review is based on how we perceived the product. We paid over $6000 for ceremony and cocktail music consisting of steel drums, flute and guitar AND a full 8 piece band for the official reception. However the entire band set up for the ceremony which took a long time and required us to start late; and all but George and 2 DJs left after it rained so we didn’t get what we paid for.George was difficult to communicate with throughout the planning process. When he would respond he said “sounds good”. When we went to confirm everything 3 days before the wedding he acted as if he had just heard of our requests but again told us that there were no problems. They weren’t prepared for my entrance and my dad and I stood at the top of the aisle while they tried to get a track to play (it was supposed to be steel drums, guitar and flute). After 5 minutes we decided to walk down in silence, (it played as we were starting the ceremony). The microphone they provided for the ceremony didn’t work so we just yelled. The entire groom’s side had a request and George refused saying it would “kill the vibe” and at the end he sent one of the DJs to my husband AND other guests asking for $200 to play another hour. Yes there were weather problems however the weather didn't cause them to be completely unprepared and unprofessional, the weather the weather didn't cause them to do whatever they wanted regardless of our year’s worth of preparation. Note that he's been in business for MANY years and only has 16 reviews... that should tell you something.

Reel Ting Steel Drum Band's reply:

We were faced with “Monsoon/Tropical Storm” Weather Conditions. We had two musicians receive Electrical Shock. The rain and the wind were so powerful that the tents could not handle these conditions and were collapsing. Our equipment had sustained/received water damage. No Band could perform under these conditions; however we tried our best and continued on as the weather conditions eased towards the end of the evening. We moved our equipment for the second time under the Catering Tent and performed with Two Steel Drummer and four vocalists and also performed DJ services for the remainder of the Wedding, In addition we stayed an extra hour and a half performing in a effort to make sure the wedding ending on a positive note (No Charge to the Client). The Band and I take full responsibility when a Wedding does not meet our client’s expectations. I would like to state the facts:
    1. We arrived two hours early to set up
    2. The client refused to get us a Commercial tent
    3. I told The Groom about the weather concerns
    4. I was never notified about a Wedding Planner until the day of the event and we worked with her during the entire Wedding
    5. All Parties agreed on the 45 minute Weather delay for the Ceremony
    6. All the sound checks tested positive and were agreed upon by their official Nick.
    7. One song request did not get played, we ran out of time
    8. The Itinerary was printed on my clipboard and on our Apple share we did our best, to make the best, out of a Bad Weather situation.

I financed their wedding payments, replied to ever email they sent. I offered to pay their way back to the Keys all expenses paid and the Band would perform. Some people you just can't please or do enough for!!!!
