More People Need to Know About This!

This venue become part of my dream wedding! It was absolutely perfect in every way and I want more people to know about it!
Very affordable and they will work with you for whatever you need. If you're looking for a "farmhouse/country" wedding, look no farther! I hardly needed to bring my own decorations!

Kate was AWESOME! She was very attenitive and always answered any question I had. We changed the times of rehearsal several times and she awesome through it all. Beautiful place for pictures and the banquet hall was PERFECT. I am SO happy I had my wedding there. It couldn't have been more perfect!

The Museum is beautiful and they have been prompt with replying. It was absolutely perfect, we were married in front of the Grist Mill and it was so perfect! The reception hall was the best place for our reception. And we had our sparkler exit in front of the house right by the gift shop which made for the best photos! It was all around amazing and Kate was so helpful with all of our questions.

We stumbles across the Museum of Appalachia and it immediately appealed to us because of the scenic views and very reasonable price. Kate was fabulous to work with and was available to answer all of our questions very promptly. We were able to go to the museum several times before the wedding to look around and take measurements, etc. Kate kept in touch with me and also with our vendors and was able to advise them on where/how to deliver everything. On our wedding day, everyone was more than willing to help us get everything in place and, despite some rainy weather, everything was perfect! We owe a HUGE thank you to the Museum and all of its staff!

We had a wonderful experience planning and holding our wedding ceremony and reception at the Museum of Appalachia! The staff was very accommodating in allowing us to come and visit the grounds and Museum several times prior to the wedding to be sure we knew how we were going to have everything set up. Our friends and family who were able to attend absolutely loved the location! If you are planning your wedding, be sure to take your time and explain all of your interests to the staff so they can be as helpful as possible.

The Museum was a perfect place for us because it is basically a blank canvas…you can decorate any way that you want, and you are free to have your ceremony in any location that you choose on the grounds. It really gave us a chance to plan a unique and personalized wedding that was perfect for our tastes.

Absolutely the most beautiful location to have a wedding and reception!! I can not say enough about how wonderful this place is!! We absolutely loved the natural beauty of this location. It sets the stage for any wedding and I highly recommend this as a great location for any type of service. We also had our wedding reception here, which has all the accomodation needed for either a buffett style or sit down dinner wedding reception. We feel in love with this place and you will not be disappointed if you choose to have your wedding here!!!

We got married on March 31, 2012. We choose the MofA because of the vintage and laid back look it portrayed. We worked with both Jessica and Jane and they were extremely helpful. Our day was perfect in every detail. They were flexible in setting up our outdoor tent with All Occasions Party Rentals. We couldn't be happier with how the day turned out!

Kate was very helpful and met with us several times; answered many questions via phone and email. She was a great hostess and was patient with us as this was our first child's marriage ands lives several hours away.
The other staff members were also helpful and cheerful.
I suggest going out for lunch and taking time to envision the flow of your event on the property.

We were so pleased with how our wedding turned out at The Museum of Appalachia! We worked with Kate Campbell to plan and coordinate the wedding and she did a wonderful job. She answered any questions I had very promptly during the planning process, and she was a fantastic "day-of" coordinator. It started to pour right after our ceremony, which meant we could not have our reception outside under a tent as planned. Kate explained all of our options and kept us calm during the upheaval from outside to inside. She also worked with all of the vendors to quickly get everything moved and set-up. So my words of advice, make sure you hire Kate as your DOC - and always have a backup plan!

The museum does not require you to use specific vendors - you can bring in as much or as little as you like. They also offer a free tour to all of your guests on the day of your wedding. It really is such a unique and charming place to have a wedding - you will not regret it! We will always remember having roosters crowing and peacocks cawing during our ceremony. :)

Fantastic venue! It was a beautiful setting! Everyone there was so nice and helpful! We used the outside patio and the indoor banquet hall. So easy for set up and tear down. We were able to decorate in the inside the day before but had to decorate the outside the day of the wedding. Beautiful venue and very interesting for out of town guests. Having the live animals all around really was pretty neat! If you want a rustic wedding book this place! You will have a beautiful wedding!

were mostly pleased with them. the only hitch was that we started with one event planner and was not informed when she left and was handed over to someone else. alot of what we were promised did not happen bc of change of planner. for example, they did not clean around the barn so the wedding had to be pushed over for pictures to look correct. otherwise it is a beautiful place

From start to finish, the Museum of Appalachia was perfect in every way. Rustic, charming and totally DIY. And I'm not kidding about DIY. We did everything ourselves, but that's what you get when you come here. It's like a blank canvas with the most beautiful rustic backdrop. But it means that whatever you want your wedding to be, you need to make it happen. MOA supplies the venue and then really lets go and lets you design the wedding of your dreams. No "preferred vendor list" nightmares of having to pay extra to use the people you want to use, and no annoying red tape. The director was accommodating and kind and answered all of our questions. The only blemish on the entire event was the power outage during the ceremony… it was resolved, but not until the ceremony was over. But it wasn't disastrous and they apologized! All in all, it was perfect for what we wanted.

I loved having my wedding at the Museum! We received so many compliments on the location and the beautiful setting. We made a mistake having our wedding the weekend after homecoming - the field we had chosen was used as a parking lot. Unfortunately, it wasn't as beautiful as we had pictured, but the Museum allowed us to switch fields if neccessary. I also did not like having to pay an extra fee to use the outdoor facilities. Beyond this, we are thrilled and so happy we booked the Museum for our day!

I loved the Museum of Appalachia. We got married in the small barn. We had a rustic rockabilly wedding and barely had to do any decorating. We had our wedding at sun set and field the barn with mason jars that had candles in them. It was breath taking. Peggy is super nice and she let me have my dogs in the ceremony. If you are doing a wedding on a tiny budget this place is perfect. No catoring required. You just rent the venue and you can make the wedding into something yours and not something forced upon you. Oh ya plus all your guest get to tour the museum for free the day of the wedding so if you have a lot of people from out of town, they can have something to do.

There was a switch in management during my time planning, and I wasn't informed but once I got ahold of the person in charge everything went great.
