Saved the Day!

She helped us out after we had a horrible experience with our first photographer. Joy was so easy to work with and made it really fun for me and my husband. She communicated well with us and understood what we wanted and we are so very happy with everything!!! We also got so many more photos captured with her assistant there, especially with our large bridal party of 16. Thank you Joy for being such a joy to work with on our special day!!!!

Joy was AMAZING from the first reply to me about availability for my wedding date to getting me a good handful of pictures only FOUR weeks after our wedding so we could send out thank you and Christmas cards with wedding pictures on them. Joy kept in contact with me leading up to the big day and knew everything I was looking for. Her and her second photographer Deena kept everything smooth the day of and did a great job with the rowdy men we had in the wedding party ha. I am blown away at the quality of the photos and they are so much better than I expected! I highly recommend Joy for your wedding. You will not be disappointed!!

Amazing Photographer

Joy is amazing, I renewed my wedding vows and she took amazing pictures. Joy is reliable and knows how to capture each moment. I loved my pictures when I got them back and the work she did showed how dedicated she is to her clients and making their wedding day special.

Truly a JOY!

Joy shot our wedding on the 28th December 2019 at Smith Flat House, Placerville. She also did our engagement photos in July 2019. Joy by name, Joy by nature, she truly was a JOY to work with! She even taught my family some dance moves whilst I was getting ready :) So easygoing yet professional, as well as flexible and accommodating. Joy is very good at working with 'blended' families, whipping people in and out of our formal shots so smoothly and quickly that people didn't even realise what was happening. The photos came out so beautiful and there are so many! We absolutely love them and so do our family and friends. We would absolutely recommend her and can't wait to work with her again!

Joy is the BEST!

My husband and I worked with Joy from Moment of Joy Photography for a year prior to our wedding. From start to finish Joy was a dream come true. She photographed both our engagement shoot and our wedding day and she made them so much fun. She did a great job at making the engagement shoot so relaxed and we just laughed and had a great time and really felt like we got to know eachother well even before the big day. And oh my goodness the pictures were beautiful. She has such a great eye. From the time between the engagement shot and the wedding, Joy made herself available for any questions we had and got back to us promptly. She was extremely professional, sent us all the information we needed reguarding timeline for pictures and also made sure that she knew who all the family members were so the picture time flowed smoothly after the wedding ceremony. On the wedding day, she did a great job of keeping everyone focused and organized so we got through pictures on time and she helped make sure we got around to our tables to greet the guests. We just got our pictures back (which she got back to us faster than expected) and we are so happy with them. They are beautiful and she did a great job at capturing our wedding day. She is such a sweet, creative, wonderful woman and I look forward to working with her again in the future to help capture special events and memories.

I hired Joy to photograph my Engagement and Wedding

If I could give Joy 6 stars, I would! Joy is a phenominal photographer and individual. I am so happy to have chosen to go with her as my wedding photographer. She is very attentive and knows how to work fast and still effective and detail-oriented. Even from my first conversation with her, I felt very supported and heard. She was very easy to work with and always fast to respond back to me with questions. On top of that, she is very talented and I am 100% happy with her work from my wedding and engagement photos. Joy was everything we asked for in a photographer and more! She is so personable and well organized. She made our day flow smoothly by understanding what was important to my husband and I and most importantly she had fun with us! My husband and I love to be silly and not so serious, so we appreciated how she followed our lead and laughed along with us. Dina and Joy are a dynamic duo we are really blessed to have found Joy. We hired Joy for our wedding in 2011 and we couldn't have been happier. Her patience with us, her portfolio, and her price were extraordinary. On the day of my wedding, as is the case with most weddings, things were hectic. Joy remained calm, guided me in the most professional way, and she knew what I wanted for that day. She has come to our home for two Christmases in a row now to take family shots, we are looking forward to those shots each year now. She also did our pregnancy photos (also done at home). We really feel like she has become a part of our family and now her talent is showing up all over our walls, year after year.

Joy was nothing but a Joy to work with! She knew what we wanted and how to execute it without any fuss. We completed our engagement photos and our wedding photos with her and they all turned out great. She worked well with our children and captured some greats shots that I will cherish forever. My husband is the one who found this gem and I am so happy he did. We will continue to work with Joy because she has now found some lifetime clients!

Joy and Dina are amazing! I highly recommend A Moment of Joy Photography to anyone looking for a wedding photographer. We interviewed a few local photographers within our price range, but I wasn't satisified until we met Joy. Joy had such an enthusiastic, yet professional demeanor. She had the perfect photo package for us. She includes engagement photos. She and her assistant take the wedding photos on the day, and you have them ALL day. You get the copyrights to ALL your photos, so you can reprint as many as you want! She also makes a photobook, as your wedding album. Right after talking with her and looking at her work, we instantly knew she was the photographer for us. We met a few months later to take our engagements photos. My fiance and I are not comfortable taking photos and it was our first professional photo shoot, but Joy put us at ease and helped guide us for our poses. All though we were posing, Joy did capture the candid moments and they turned out spectacular. Joy gave the photos to me on a CD in a quick turnaround, so I was able to send out our save-the-dates shortly after. When it came to the big day, my make-up artist was running late, but she put me at ease and rescheduled some of our bride and bridesmaids photos. In the end, it all worked out and Joy and her assistant took all the photos we wanted. I'm glad she was there from the beginning to end. She captured every special moment of our wedding. I would definitely reccommend Joy to my family and friends in the future!!!

A Moment of Joy was truly amazing to work with. They are one of the best photographers to share your special day with. We had the best experience with a moment of joy ! Our wedding date was double booked with our venue and Joy was able to work things out to still accommodate us. Not only that but thanks to her beautiful pictures we have been featured in bridal magazines for the last two years ( from our engagement pictures to wedding pictures). I would recommend A Moment of Joy Photography to any bride and for any style wedding! Joy is very easy to work with, the prices are very reasonable, and you will never be disappointed with any photo she takes. Joy is very creative and really knows how to capture every moment of joy (she really lives up to her business name!). Joy and her assistant photographers captured so many wonderful pictures on our wedding day and it was like they weren't even there. People look through our wedding album and they are absolutely amazed with the quality of the pictures and the end result of the album as a whole. Our wedding photography was one of the most important parts of our wedding day and Joy made that happen for us.

A Moment of Joy Photography was the best decision that we made during our wedding panning. I knew that she had a talent that I wanted to capture our wedding. I had ranted and raved to my husband about how I wanted Joy to be our photographer for our wedding and once Jordan saw all the talented pictures that she showed us at our first meeting, he was speechless.

For our wedding, Joy was not only our photographer. She MADE my wedding day timeline, she organized the entire family while we were taking picture after picture and she took all the stress off me and took care of everything! I truly believe that it was Joy that made our special day a success.

Now that we are six months pregnant, I still get comments on our photos and our wedding album. The photography is the most important part to me for a wedding, you have those pictures forever and they capture memories forever. Joy has made that dream come true for us and we will forever have those memories.

Joy was a pleasure to work with from the very first phone call. Communication was great, she had wonderful ideas and reasonable prices. We have a very large immediate family and the day of the wedding she was able to keep everyone organized and photographed with the right family group. She found a beautiful spot in my parents back yard (the reception site) that we had not even considered and it turned out better than we ever dreamed of! The wedding album she designed for us was perfect and I couldn't have done a better job myself. I don't have one thing that I would change or do differently. She made my wedding day less stressful just by being herself :-) I recommend her to everyone, not just for weddings but for portraits, family and pregnancy photos as well. You will not be disappointed if you choose Joy as your photographer!!!!!!!!!!!!

As a bride you really want your wedding day to be perfect,so I interviewed a few photographers and wanted to get the best deal. I was referred by a mutual friend who had just been in a wedding where Joy was the phtographer. I'm glad I called Joy and booked her for our wedding. Our wedding date was October 2, 2010 and our pictures are amazing. The website for guests to view our pictures was up within a few weeks. Joy designed the lay out of our wedding album book which i was a little nervous about but I'm glad i did. Our album captures every single details from our wedding day and so much more. I would highly recommend using her as yoyr photographer.

We loved working with Joy. She was very flexible and had a GREAT price. I would say her style of photos is more photojournalism. We were able to use the 'engagement' shoot to capture our rehearsal dinner/Chinese Wedding Ceremony the day before our wedding instead of for engagement photos, since we had already taken those somewhere else (had a gift card). I will probably call her to take photos our of family later too.

The only complaint my (now) husband had, was that she made him take too many pictures and smile too much. LOL. But, hey we got LOTS of great formal pics, so I think it was worth his discomfort!

Joy was literally one of the greatest parts of our wedding!..From day one, we knew she was going to be perfect. My fiance and I found her on the KCRA A-List and quickly made an appointment to meet with her. She was very quick to respond, and sincerely listened to what we envisioned for our pictures. The day of the wedding, Joy was prompt and blended right into the background. I hardly even noticed she was there! With all the chaos of the day, it was nice to not worry about "one more thing"..While I was able to get ready, and enjoy my friends and family, Joy managed to capture EVERY last moment!..She was organized, friendly, and really had an eye for what was going to look good. She also worked seamlessly with her assistant. They were an incredible team!

Joy stayed with us ALL day long!..she was there till the VERY end! I was amazed at her work ethic, and professionalism. As any bride, I was anxious to get my pictures back after the wedding. This too, happened quickly!..I couldn't believe it! She captured over 2000 pictures, and managed to get them all up for online viewing within 4 weeks! The album itself was breathtaking!..My husband and I cried when we looked through it for the first time. It literally brought us back to the day of the wedding, and told the whole story!! The pictures were gorgeous. They were so good that Joy was featured in Sacramento Bride and Groom magazine with our pictures. What a compliment to her and her work.

We would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone! She was flawless!

My wife and I got married on October 3rd, 2009. Looking back on the pictures of my wedding day, I have absolutely no regrets what-so-ever about contracting with Joy. Her quality of service was outstanding and she was very accommodating when it came to the specific rules of our church. She was prompt, professional, and we got every picture we asked for. But more than that, she caught candid moments that could never be staged, and have so much meaning. There were quite a few shots that I didn't even think of asking for, but Joy captured them.

We took the majority of our pictures after the ceremony, but before the reception. When it was time for the posed pictures, Joy was in charge, but not bossy. She knew how to take us through the poses and get us into our reception without sacrificing the quality of the pictures. She was with us the whole day from the time my bride-to-be was getting her hair and make-up done at her salon, to the end of the reception when we left for our honeymoon.

I think my favorite part of the whole experience with A Moment Of Joy Photography was when we received our pictures. Apart from a beautiful album, Joy gave us the day's worth of pictures on a 16gig flash drive (she took nearly 2,000 pictures that day). It's the little details that add up to a truly wonderful experience. I would, without hesitation, fully recommend A Moment Of Joy Photography to anybody getting married.

Joy did a fantastic job photographing our wedding. She worked around our very tight schedules for our engagement photo session. For the wedding, she and her assistant arrived promptly, were unobtrusive yet managed to get great intimate detail shots as well as formal wedding portraits and group photos. Our package included photo editing options which expanded the range and uniqueness of the photos. The wedding album Joy created is beautiful and really tells the story of our wedding day. I've received many compliments on our wedding photographs, including one friend who said she'd seen many wedding photos from friends in Sacramento and Southern California but Joy's photos of our wedding were the best overall. My husband and I would highly recommend A Moment of Joy Photography

Joy was great for our September wedding! She was so great with scheduling meetings and being flexible. Our wedding pictures were stunning as well as our album. My friends and family loved it, they said it gave them goosebumps :) We are so lucky to have found Joy and have her capture our day.

Joy is fantastic! She did a fabulous job at our wedding and spent the whole day with us photographing our big day. The photos came out perfect and we have received lots of compliments on them. If someone were interested in Joy as their photographer, especially for a wedding, I would first recommend viewing her photo gallery and reading about her on her web-site- and you will know what you are getting, nothing less, only more. She really does follow what she says on her web-site...it is so true and genuine, just like Joy as a person and a photographer.
Joy is very friendly, and even though we never met in person before that day, she made me feel very comfortable before the wedding while I was getting ready, all the way until the last picture she took that night. From the first time we talked over the phone, I trusted she would provide wonderful photography for our wedding and she did. Joy was easy to talk to and communicated with and felt she knew what I wanted without her asking - and that she was there for me. Joy was also very professional, and guided the formal pictures along smoothly.
We had received many great compliments about Joy at the wedding. Now that we received the pictures, friends and family are even more impressed. When we opened our album for the first time, that she made for us, I cried. Looking at the pictures makes me so happy. I find myself smiling each time I look at them. They are our story. I can relive my entire wedding day each time I look at them. These photo's will always keep our most precious moments fresh and alive.
Joy's photography is absolutely beautiful, more then we could ever ask for. her photography is so personal, touching and thoughtful. The pictures are vibrant and detailed. My favorite pictures captured was the one where I was dancing with my Dad, and you can see a tear running down my cheek.
We are truly grateful and feel so lucky to have found Joy as our photographer and would refer her to anyone.

Within moments of meeting Joy, my husband and I knew that she was "The One!" We found that Joy was not only one of the most down-to-Earth people we would ever meet, but her ability to listen to and retain our ideas of what our wishes were, left us feeling completely at ease with the entire experience. Joy has a subtle grace about her as she photographs, leaving you with no doubt that her passion for capturing every moment will result in some of the most beautiful wedding photographs you will ever see. Joy was the perfect person to have photograph my wedding. She was so personable that it didn't feel uncomfortable having her around; and she was with me all day for one flat rate. She was able to capture beautiful candids of my entire family and no one remembered ever having seen her. The pictures I recieved were beautiful. I thought that she had all the best photos in the album that she made for me, but I found so many gorgeous photos looking through all the photos that were taken. I was very impressed. I would recommend her to anyone. We had a lot of fun. Thanks Joy. :)

There is only one word to describe Joy... AMAZING!!!! After our other photographer canceled on us last minute (litteraly 5 days before the wedding!) I thought my wedding was going to be a disaster! I was soooo upset. I began searching online praying to find someone that would be able to squeeze me in at the very last minute and not charge $5 million dollars! Then, by the grace of God, I found Joy. I met with her immediately and felt trully blessed that things worked out the way they did. She was creative, professional, very easy to work with, and most of all, made me feel 100% confident that everything was going to be ok. She fit us in that weekend and saved our wedding! I would highly recommend her to EVERYONE for your photography needs! She will be doing family portraits for us next!!!!

She was very professinal, but very good at paying very special attention to the important moments. She captured stuff that no one would think to get, and now some of those important moments are some of our favorites pictures. okay let start by telling you I was a total Bridezilla! Nothing could please me or was good enough for "MY WEDDING DAY'!!!! A friend at work told me about Joy and said she wanted me to look at her album with some of the photos that Joy had taken at her wedding . My fiancé and I had searched and searched and looked at so many portfolios from photographers all over the area and every photographers pictures started to look all the same. As soon as my friend told me about Joy and I seen these photos I knew she was the one !!! Her pictures not only captured the moment but I felt by looking at that album that I was actually at the Wedding. After calling Joy I booked her for "MY WEDDING DAY" Yes the Bridezilla finally made a decision!!!! She caught things at angels that many photographers had not even thought of trying she was so creative, and fun but still elegant with these photos. I truly am glad I went with my gut and hired Joy for "MY WEDDING DAY"!!! Joy was the best thing that happened on this day besides the I do's themselves. She was with me for the time I grabbed the first cup of coffee as I crawled out of bed until we drove away after the reception, She also took additional photos after we were gone so we did not have to miss any aspect of our day or the crowd that stayed to dance after we left. The photos are breathtaking, she was professional, Sweet, and just a delight to have as part of our special day. She has several options as far as how how long she can spend with you I chose to have her the whole day as it was "MY WEDDING DAY". I recommend her very highly she truly was and is the best. And not to mention the prices are very reasonable, you get way more than your moneys worth trust me on this!!!

AMAZING, Couldn't have asked for better

We couldn't have asked for a better photographer! A Moment of Joy came highly recommended by two friends who had used her a few years prior, and it was an instant yes for us on our first phone call with us. Communication was so easy through the entire process prior to our wedding, and Joy was so helpful with directing us on the day of our wedding, while making the whole process fun! Even telling me to rest my face when my smile started to look strained haha. Our photos came out stunning, and will be so cherished for the rest of our lives.

I am the bride of a wedding in South Lake Tahoe in July. First, I want to say how grateful I am Joy’s work will allow me to always remember my wedding day. My husband said the assistant was great with them for getting-ready pictures. She had great communication also. However; our party was very dissatisfied with her. On the wedding day she was very impressionable and harsh. She would say things like “you have alot of chefs in the kitchen” or, when my mom asked me to turn my bouquet better in a picture, she told my MOM “not to talk to bride while taking pictures”.
Pictures I was very disappointed to NOT get from Joy:
- flower girl&ring barrier walking down aisle
-1 formal bride&father
- my aunt&uncle (only had 80 people@wedding)
- good picture of bride/groom WITH my vail on
- sunset pictures with bouquet- we forgot it in reception & nothing was done to get it
- Bride&groom with BOTH sets of parents
- Bride alone with train spread out
- decent picture of my mom helping Bride get ready/putting my dress on
- picture of every table(my mom specifically asked for)
- bride&family with all eyes open

My mom had to ask her to take a break from eating during the reception to take a picture of us at sweet heart table. Joy didn’t mount a comfort to us that she will get all the necessary pictures done. The lack of attention to pictures (the angle, centering people, eyes open, arm placements, my dress, background distractions,ect) has caused me to scavenge the albums for a good picture. I have even gotten to the point where I am editing pictures to correct errors.
I do not like to degrade someone’s work but after seeing a photographer in another wedding I recently was a bridesmaid in, made me realize how disappointed I was in Joy. My father in law’s brother also took pictures at the wedding- most his pictures were better than hers. Maybe it was a bad day or a challenging wedding-My goal here is not to degrade her work but to inform future clients of my experience
