Mindy did a great job with my wedding hair. My up-do stayed put all day even through the gusting winds and rain I had on my wedding day. She is super friendly and puts you at ease on the wedding day and very accomodating. I think for the cost she did a great job and it was nice because she came to my house on the day of the wedding so I didn't have to stress. She spent a lot of time with me making sure every piece was perfect and that I was happy and she showed my bridesmaids how to put the veil in and take it out so that my hair wouldn't get ruined which was really nice. All of my bridesmaids got their hair done as well and I am not sure that they loved their hair as much as I liked mine. The one bridesmaid had long hair and she did great with her up-do but the other two had chin length hair and theirs didn't look as great but they were still cute.

All you have to do is show Mindy a picture and BOOM... thats what she does... she worked quickly and the end results were amazing!!!
There was a small time issue and she got lost and tried to call (but apparently dialed the wrong number...) I called her home # and her husband assured me she was on the way.... she arrived shortly after. That aside, even showing up 25 minutes late she had all of the girls ready in plenty of time and everything worked out. She is friendly and her work.... its amazing!!!
Maybe try to get her cell number if you book her... in case something were to happen?!?

Perfect! Hair trial went seamlessly. Followed through on wedding day. Stayed in place the entire day and into the evening. Mindy was quick and efficient getting everyones hair done. She also worked with a variety of hair types from short and fine to long and really thick without any issues.

I love this woman! She's incredibly nice, down to earth and really listens to whatever visions you may have about your wedding day look. Between me (the bride), my bridesmaids, mom and flower girls, we had 8 'dos' to do the morning of our wedding and Mindy was fabulous. We even finished slightly ahead of schedule! I absolutely loved my hair the day of our wedding and I'm still getting compliments today. Every single strand stayed in place the entire day and it still looked perfect at midnight. I highly recommend Mindy!

Mindy did a beautiful job with my hair and also my bridesmaid and mother's hair. Everyone looked gorgeous and the hair do's stayed in place all night long. She also works quickly, on the day-of we finished with time to spare!

Mindy was great!! I'm new to the Baltimore area and I'm so lucky to have found Mindy. She did a great job on me, my bridesmaids, my mom and the two flower girls! Everyone's hair looked amazing! The flower girls updos were so age appropriate and stayed up all night (which is a major accomplishment for a two year old!). I'd recommend Mindy to any bride!

Mindy is wonderful! She did a great job!
She was prepared with all sorts of curlers, sprays, pins, serums, and more curlers! She has an album of various photos and looks for review. For a rather large bridal party: 1-bride, 6-bridesmaids and 2-moms, Mindy recruited help (an assistant). All the hair whether it was a blowout or up-do came out great. Six (6) bridesmaids + mom ALL loved their hair! Mindy indeed did a great job. Their hair up-dos lasted ALL night!
I actually feel bad that Mindy's assistant's "bad attitude" = unprofessionalism (tardiness, lack of skill, preoccupation with her parking spot, and eagerness to leave the bridal suite) may have reflected poorly on her. All three women that had hair worked on by the assistant were not happy with their up-do's. Mindy was able to fix one bridesmaid's hair. The maid of honor and mother of the bride were not so fortunate. There was no time left. I know with Mindy's level of skill, expertise and professionalism, she was not happy with her assistant's overall performance (ability and professionalism). I know she was trying to delegate some responsibility to her assistant, but we all expected that the assistant would help "prep" the hair (with curlers, hot iron, etc.) and that Mindy would be the one to design and create the actual do.
With my hair, I am not quite sure what happened.
I guess it was down to crunch time - and perhaps she was frustrated with her assistant's (attitude and final look); maybe she forgot how much & heavy my hair was (that was what happened with our 1st hair trial). But she was so understanding that the 1st trial did not go well, she offered me a 2nd trial to tackle my updo request. The second hair trial went perfectly. It was rough trying to get everything to stay in place during the "bride&bridesmaids" photoshoot. In the end, when we were not able to get reach her (we did not have her cell#), so we had to pull a MacGyver move to salvage what was left of my up-do. We pulled out all the bobby-pins and made our own hair bun. I would be lying if I said I was not upset about my hair falling apart and not being able to reach her when I needed help, but between the flower in my hair and the veil, I was able to hide a lot of what was going on. None of my guests could tell I had hair difficulties.
In summary, Mindy's work was wonderful, I want to make sure I emphasize this. She is fun, talented and professional.

I found Mindy pretty late in the process because the first salon I booked (Chesapeake Beach Resort and Spa)gave me a second degree burn on my cheek. She was very flexible with me and the wedding party and let me book the hair trial during Christmas week. She did a great job on all of our hair. She worked quickly and the hair all stayed in place even with the major wind we faced during our pictures. I would highly recommend her to everyone!

Mindy did my hair for my wedding in December 2008. I found Mindy through my makeup artist, Nicole Palermo. I saw some of her work on Nicole's website and loved her sample up-do's so I immediately felt confident that she would give me the look I had in mind. Because of some last minute problems, I did not have time to do the typical trial run but I figured I'd be OK because I knew what I wanted and knew Mindy did plenty of styles like what I had in mind.
On my wedding day, Mindy quickly and efficiently worked her magic and I ended up with the up-do of my dreams. It was gorgeous, the back was stunning and it looked incredible the entire day without me having to do a thing to it. I could not have been happier with Mindy's work. And she is one of the nicest people to work with, I was so stress-free the morning of my wedding - knowing I was in such good hands for hair and makeup had a LOT to do with my relaxed state of mind. Thank you Mindy for giving me gorgeous hair on the most important day of my life :-)

My name is Ellie Gordon. I have been married for a little more than one month!! Our wedding was beautiful. I'll post reviews on other vendors soon, but wanted to get this one on Mindy's site first! I knew that planning a wedding would involve changes and stress, and joy. The day of our wedding was no exception. The one place that DID NOT cause stress was having my hair done by Mindy Whalen. She brought her tools, experience, suggestions, and most of all, her kindness and sense of humor to alleviate the tension of the day!! My hair, and my bridesmaids hair were absolutely beautiful. I asked Mindy for suggestions on some styles that I had found, and she worked with me to find just the right one. She made us look beautiful. I recommend Mindy for your hair on your special day. Mindy arrived on-time and did an absolute fantastic job on all of our girls! We ended up having more girls than I originally contracted with her but she was very flexible and ended up styling hair for 13 girls! One of my guests said that I was a "Walking Commercial for Aqua Net Hair Spray." Despite hurricane like winds and torrential rains my hair remained perfect the entire day. All thanks to Mindy. I would highly recommend her.

Mindy was a wonderful addition to the pre wedding festivities. She did a fabulous job with my hair as well as 5 bridesmaids and 2 moms. Everyone looked wonderful and all of the hairstyles lasted all night. Mindy created so many different looks for each of my bridesmaids, they all looked fabulous! I would highly recommend Mindy to any bride planning her wedding.

Mindy Whalen stopped by the bridal suite to do everyone's hair. I was very pleased with how everyone looked and it was very convenient to get to relax in the suite the morning of the wedding. It may seem like a pricier option, but I feel it was worth the cost.
