Roxie is very good...especially with thick hair. She's also very quick. We had three updos in about an hour. None of us went in for a practice session(although Roxie cuts my hair, so she knows what I like). Roxie Hunt worked with me to give me the perfect wedding hairstyle. She listened to me when we talked about what look I wanted, and she added her personal style to it. I got two services done at Mayapple in October 2014: bridal hair and make up. Amanda did my hair, and while she was sweet, I wanted to cry. I have very fine hair, and I felt that she didn't know how to work with it. When I asked her to fix something that I wasn't happy with, she got offended and defensive and didn't say another word to me.
Melissa did my make up. I loved the outcome, but she was not only rude to me on the phone, but also when I arrived and was also rude and matter-of-fact with my mother.
I think calling the salon a "boutique and spa" is an incredible joke, as I can't imagine anyone going there to relax. It was essentially a shed.
Would I recommend them? No.
Did I get what I paid for? I paid over $100 for hair and make up that I could have done better myself. So, no.

Their hairstylist Mel was really rude and low class. You make the appointment on their cell phones and the stylist calls to change it twice because she has plans and you are lucky to be fit into her schedule. I told her I was not interested in the opportunity. I never ended up getting a cut there but by their negative attitude I am sure it would have been an unpleasant experience.
