Touching ceremony

Marvin was the officiant for my son’s wedding on the beach, and he was absolutely marvelous! He immediately put us all at ease and created such a loving, sweet atmosphere for the ceremony. We loved every moment of it. Marvin truly spoke from the heart and brought so much aloha to our family celebration.

Mahalo Marvin, a Lahaina legend

My husband and I were Lahaina residents and planned to marry in October 2023. We wanted to hire vendors with strong roots on Maui and Marvin is a lifelong Lahaina resident. He is an extremely talented musician who also happens to be a well-respected MPD officer. We had the privilege of hearing him perform before we were engaged and it was no-brainer he would be our musician for the wedding ceremony and cocktail reception.

My husband and I lost our home and everything else in the Lahaina fire, 2 months shy of our wedding. Marvin did too. This meant we had to plan a second wedding later in 2024 and didn't know which vendors would still be around. We were so happy to hear Marvin could still participate. If you want someone with a beautiful voice, gifted musician and all-around great person in the Lahaina community, Marvin is THE guy! Mahalo Marvin! We "lava" that you could be part of our long-awaited special day.

Marvin is amazing!

My Husband and I just got married on the island of Maui and we knew we wanted live music to have at the wedding. Our planner suggested Marvin and after listening to a couple songs it was an immediate yes! Marvin surpassed my expectations. He was absolutely amazing and our guests loved the live music. I recommend using Marvin at your wedding/rehearsal! Thank you Marvin!! 🫶🏻

Marvin is a gem!

My wife and I eloped in Maui in September of 2023, and having Marvin be a part of our special day was the best decision! He is extremely talented and the music he performed during our ceremony was perfect. His voice and the ukulele are so beautiful. On top of all of that, Marvin is just a great guy, and having him participate in our ceremony helped make it extra special. It’s also worth adding that our elopement was only about 6 weeks after the devastating and tragic fires in Maui and Marvin’s attendance at our wedding and encouragement to come to Maui really helped make us feel like we were making the right decision. We’re grateful he was able to make the space to be there for our big day. I highly, highly recommend Marvin if you need a musician!

Incredibly Talented

I highly recommend Marvin Tevaga for any event! My husband and I both grew up on Maui and we were looking for a local musician and found Marvin! He is incredibly talented, kind and friendly! We had him perform for our ceremony as well as during our cocktail hour. The music he played made the day even more romantic! He sent us a list of songs that he's able to play and I was incredibly happy that he already knew a song that I wanted for our processional. Thank you so much Marvin for your presence and making our special day so beautiful.

So talented!

Marvin is so talented!! We felt so lucky to have him perform at our ceremony and cocktail hour. His voice is so beautiful, and the ukulele brought the Aloha spirit to our wedding day. I had a special song that I wanted played while I walked down the aisle, and Marvin was able to learn it for us. Highly recommend!!

Marvin’s gift of music made our wedding day magical

Simply put - Marvin made our wedding dreams come true. His talent will bring happy tears to your eyes and joy to your guests.

We had to move our wedding date a number of times due to COVID, which was horrible and deflating. When people asked us why we just didn’t go the courthouse route, we had two reasons: we wanted our wedding to be memorable after the pain of moving it so many times, and we couldn‘t imagine our wedding day without Marvin. He was just that important to us. We had to change almost all of our other vendors, but it was worth it as long as we had Marvin on our wedding day.

Our wedding coordinator recommended Marvin, and when we heard a sample of his music, we didn’t have to consider anyone else. We had Marvin play both a list of songs in Hawaiian and in English for our ceremony and cocktail hour. Two of our guests even begged him to stay longer because they were so moved by his voice and spirit. They couldn’t stop raving about him.

We definitely want to hire him for our eventual anniversary dinner. If you have the opportunity to hire Marvin for your event, you should take it enthusiastically.

Amazing musician!

Marvin Tevaga was our musician for our ceremony and "reception" for our elopement/wedding for two at beautiful Merriman's. He played Cannon in D for the ceremony which was so beautiful. We requested a song to play at the end of our ceremony that he learned in less than 2 weeks! He even joined us during our photography session, playing while we took photos. He was absolutely wonderful and such a wonderful presence during our intimate ceremony and wedding celebration for just the two of us. I would recommend him to anyone getting married in Maui looking for a true-talent!!

Special touch to our wedding!

Marvin was amazing at my wedding in December at Olowalu Plantation House.

He performed as my guests were arriving for the ceremony, my recessional, and cocktail hour. He definitely put a special touch to my wedding, and my guests couldn't stop raving about him!

He is super talented, and his voice is amazing! If you're looking for a musician for a special event, I would definitely recommend him! Thank you Marvin!

True talent!

Marvin is a remarkable musician! His amazing ukulele playing talent is only surpassed by his remarkable voice. He played a few recognizable songs for our processional and recessional, but one of the highlights was having him perform traditional Hawaiian music. Our wedding simply wouldn’t have felt right without a ukulele. He took the time to learn a song we requested that wasn’t part of his normal list of songs and he nailed it! We could truly feel the aloha through his playing and through his voice. He made our wedding even more perfect! We highly recommend Marvin to anyone who hopes to have the perfect wedding, and who hope to have their guests feel the mana and aloha!

Marvin made our wedding truly unforgettable. He has an absolutely amazing voice and our guests raved about his diverse song choices (from Hawaiian to classic rock). He even learned some custom songs we requested. His performance was so memorable that for our 1 year anniversary I surprised my wife with a private performance. If you'd like to highlight your emotions on your wedding venue and if you'd like to be entertained by lovely music and some real hawaiian ukulele tunes, Marvin Tevaga will be the man!!! The Songs he has in his repetoir are very good picks and the way he perfoms them is simply amazing. Marvin's voice is so warm, beautiful and genuine it will hit straight into your heart and move you for sure. He will be the perfect audible companion to make your special day unforgettable. Marvin Tevaga is a very gentle person who integrates naturally into your venue. - In my opinion, Marvins version of "Over The Rainbow" is the very best in the entire world. - It gets me goose bumps and tears of joy everytime I hear it! :) - I am so very glad that he was a part of our genius crew members that made our wedding perfect.

Marvin was an excellent musician! Having him play during our ceremony/cocktail hour was truly magical. I was referred to him by our wedding planner at Olowalu Plantation House. There are a lot of video clips of him online to see if you like his style and he really gave our wedding a Hawaiian feel. One thing I loved about his services was that he had lots of song options to choose from and you were able to choose whether you wanted him to play songs with/without vocals. We chose to do a combination (songs without vocals during the ceremony and with during cocktail hour). Many of my guests talked to him during the wedding and said he was really friendly too! i would not hesitate to recommend him!

One year ago, my sister married in Maui, accompanied by the wonderful and touching music of Marvin.
His performance at the wedding found a big place in her heart and over the whole last year she raved about it.
On my request, Marvin recorded a personal videomessage for their anniversary.
After receiving the video, I can finally understand my sister (they married without family, just the two of them) and I'm just HAPPY and thankful for his work.

Marvin is so talented! We were lucky to have Marvin perform at our ceremony and cocktail hour at our wedding on July 15th at the Ritz Carlton, and we are so glad that we got to work with him.

Sadly, we missed his performance during the cocktail hour because we were busy taking photos, but our guests let us know afterwards how awesome it was and how impressed they were by his performance! Definitely book Marvin if you get the chance- he is amazing and you will not regret it!

Marvin was great! We were super excited to have Marvin be apart of our special day and we were not disappointed. He came highly recommended. We of course did research of our own to back this up and checked out all of Marvin's You-Tube videos. We quickly became Marvin fans. Our wedding felt like a movie, with the perfect soundtrack playing in the background. Marvin has a beautiful voice and plays the ukulele to set a great island vibe. I’d highly recommend him to anyone getting married on Maui.

I love Marvin Tevaga. I was obsessed with his music leading up to the wedding and was so excited to book him for our reception and cocktail hour(s). The only downside is that we were so busy with photos, I barely had a chance to listen to him. After the wedding my guests were raving about him. They had said he was so unbelievable, they would crowd around him and request songs.

The reason I'm coming back to his website a year later is because now, we have a new baby. I want to pick a bedtime song to play and I want it to be Marvin's version of Somewhere Over The Rainbow (which is what I walked down the aisle to).

Marvin was so awesome at our wedding!! The most touching moment is when he played "A Thousand Years" on the ukulele while our teenage daughter sang... In the second chorus she began to cry and that's when Marvin took over and sang along with her so beautifully. It was a moment we will never forget! We watch the video over and over (even now that we're back home in California). Marvin is very talented at what he does and we will definitely use him again if we ever plan to have another event on Maui!! Marvin THANK YOU so much again... From the bottom of our hearts! Mahalo!

We had the honor of having Marvin play for our wedding ceremony and part of our reception (cocktail hour, and the first hour of dinner). We are a couple from San Francisco, so all we knew of Marvin was from what we saw on YouTube and the internet - which basically is all amazing!! We fell in love with his voice the most out of the many performers we found online, and booked him as soon as we started wedding planning! The only complaint (if any) is that we felt like we communicated with two different people (he has someone else who handles his bookings through email, but we also privately talked to him via phone or Facebook). That felt somewhat redundant at times, but not a big deal. We relied on the list that was on his website for song choice, but Marvin was also very open with conversation about songs he knew or was willing to learn. In the end, we asked Marvin to learn two songs for our ceremony (since it was in a Catholic Church, they were strict about song choices). When he played for our reception, he was just as amazing if not MORE amazing in person as he is online in his videos - we didn't give him a playlist because anything he played was a hit! Our guests RAVED about him, recorded him, asked about him.. and still do! He really set the tone for our evening! Definitely one of the best investments we made in all our planning! We like to think he's now a good friend of ours :) Book Marvin! You won't regret it!!

Marvin was simply amazing and his music is something people still talk about after our wedding. We had him play the wedding and following cocktail hour. It was a perfect accompaniment for the wedding entrance and an awesome way to exit. (Sunday Morning cover was perfect!). He played an amazing collection of classic Hawaiian songs and his popular covers. He actually sounds better in person then his YouTube video if you can believe it. I would highly recommend to book him for your wedding, as it was one of the best decisions for our whole wedding.

We were so happy to have Marvin play at our wedding! We didn't use a wedding planner for any part of our wedding. (Our wedding was very private with only 2 witnesses) Prior to the wedding, he was great about keeping in touch with us, and even contacted us the morning of the wedding to confirm his arrival. He was absolutely wonderful! We only wish we got to spend more time with him, but we had to leave soon after the ceremony for pictures and dinner. We would highly recommend Marvin for any special occasion...he's worth it! Looking forward to seeing him again!! :)

My wedding coordinator recommended Marvin by sending me a video link with him singing and when my husband and I heard his voice we were smitten.
We had Marvin play at our ceremony as well as pre-reception drinks and my guests absolutely adored him - quite a few guests said that he was a highlight. Marvin Tevaga is the most talented and soulful ukelele musician in Hawaii! His music is absolutely beautiful and once I heard his rendition of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow", I immediately fell in love with his music and knew that was the song that I wanted to walk down the aisle to. We heard Marvin's voice on youtube and immediately knew he was the one! His voice is purely amazing and he sounds even better in person! He is truly talented and definitely brings the aloha spirit! He definitely went above and beyond our expectations. He sang at the ceremony and during cocktail hour for a total of 3 hours, but we really wish he could have stayed the whole night and serenaded to us during dinner too because we hardly got to hear him sing due to pictures. =( However, we are very happy that our family and friends got to enjoy him. They loved him and are still in awe of how talented he is. We wish we could do it all over again just to hear him sing more!

I hired Marvin through my wedding planner to play my ceremony music, cocktail hour music and first dance. We heard once song on youtube and it was an easy decision. His voice is melodic and soothing. He puts a great island spin on all his music and we loved that! We got so many compliments on his music and ukulele playing. Marvin was jaw dropping knock your socks off amazing! The videos online absolutely do not do him justice! He has this soulful voice that is captivating, he preformed at my double twin wedding, he was absolutely phenomenal. The only regret that I have is that I didn't have him longer. It was very confusing when I began to plan my 25th vow renewal ceremony in Maui all the way from Michigan. I looked a many, many musicians and just wasn't sure what to do. That is until I came upon Marvin's website. The minute I heard his voice, I knew he was the one I needed to have sing at our beachside ceremony. His voice is amazing and he is really one of the nicest people I have ever met. He will work with you if songs that you would like are not on his song list, but he really does have a fantastic selection. He was on time, early actually, to our ceremony. I had chosen a package through a wonderful wedding planner and we already had our date chosen. When I found out Marvin wasn't available that day, we changed our date with the help of Deanne from Precious Maui Weddings. That's how strongly I felt about having Marvin sing for us and I wasn't sorry! He sounded just as wonderful on the beach as he did on his website. He was so kind and even stayed to play some songs for us as we had pictures taken since we had a very short ceremony. I couldn't have asked for a better wedding musician and emcee... Marvin did an amazing job singing at our wedding ceremony as well as emceeing our entire reception. Marvin was amazing! I continuously replay the moment in my head, when tuned out everything that was happening as I was walking down the aisle--so that I could hear him singing.. It was just one little bit of the song that I can remember hearing, but we couldn't have picked a more perfect musician. Marvin is a wonderful performer with a voice like I've never heard before. Authentic Hawaiian style and sound. When you hear him play and sing you could swear it is a recording with a full sound system but it just Marvin in the corner with his ukulele filling the room with warm beautiful sounds of Hawaii.

I was so lucky to have Marvin perform at my April 2013 destination wedding at Merriman's in Maui. I watched some of Marvin's youtube videos and knew that he would be perfect to perform for my ceremony and during my cocktail hour. His singing and ukulele was absolutely beautiful. It was so romantic to walk down the aisle to his performance. He really did convey the love that my husband and I felt during those moments. Marvin is the man!!! I would definitely recommend him! Planning a destination wedding isn't all that easy unless you are working with a professional and outstanding musician like Marvin Tevega. On somewhat of a short notice, I asked him if he could sing a particular song for us that not many people may know or even know how to play. He agreed to play it. As I walked down the aisle all I could hear was a beautiful voice singing and the ukulele playing the melody to the song I had asked Marvin to sing. It was amazing!! The way he sang it and the way he played it on the ukulele was PERFECT! It didn't end there….during the reception he knew exactly what kind of music we wanted him to play. I booked Marvin through Danielle, the event coordinator at Merriman's in Kapalua to play during our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. We met on the wedding day and everyone LOVED his music! Me and my guests probably sang along to most of his songs. He was a pleasure to work with and a very sweet guy! Thank you so much Marvin!

We had the honor of having Marvin perform at our intimate 40 person wedding at a private estate in Kula, Maui. He played during the ceremony, cocktail hour and reception, and even served as our MC. Words cannot adequately express how happy we were to have him and his beautiful and talented wife, Uilani as a part of our special day. They both have a warm, sincere and natural quality about them that fit perfectly with the atmosphere we wanted at our wedding, and their talent is first rate. They are genuinely nice people, and embody the aloha spirit of the islands. Marvin learned our first dance song, I Won't Give Up, and it was better than the original in my opinion (sorry, Jason Mraz!). He sings both Hawaiian songs as well as contemporary "top 40" songs, and puts his own special twist on them that makes each one sound unique and appropriate for a wedding in Maui. I grew up in Hawaii listening to Hawaiian music, so the last thing I wanted at my wedding was a cheesy wedding singer. I wanted someone with innate natural talent that sings from his heart, and that is precisely what we found in Marvin. I also didn't want to put our guests to sleep with someone who could only sing slow ballads, and this was not the case with Marvin. His renditions of Soul Sister (Train), I'm Yours (Mraz), Over the Rainbow/Wonderful world (IZ), and unbelievably, the hawaiian music spin on one of my favorite 90's hip hop songs, Summertime in the LBC (Dove Shack) were so, so good, and created an upbeat, fun atmosphere during the reception. Both my guests from Hawaii and my mainland guests kept on raving about how good Marvin was. We also booked Marvin's wife, Uilani for an hour of hula dancing. She is stunningly beautiful and graceful, and the love shared between them during their joint performance touched my heart. Uilani even gave a mini hula lesson to our guests! Her talent blew us all away – and the wedding was the night after we went to the Old Lahaina Luau with our guests. The one major regret I have about my wedding is not having a videographer to record Marvin's performance. If anyone out there uses him and wants to share, I would appreciate it so much! I could go on and on, but simply said, hiring Marvin and Uilani was the best decision we made for our wedding. I can’t believe we found them through a YouTube search of wedding musicians in Maui, but I guess some things just are meant to be. I hope to have the honor of hearing Marvin sing live again the next time my husband and I are in Maui. He plays at some of the local venues on island, so the first thing on my vacation agenda will be to find where he is playing so that we can relive the magic of our wedding day. Marvin was my ukelele player for my reception. He played in a duo with a guitar player (sorry I don't remember the other name)
His voice is incredible. Marvin has some great YouTube videos to check out.
He should singing and playing full time and recording CD's for sure!
He supplied a song list prior to the wedding so I got to pick all my favourites. Loved him!
He was booked through the wedding planner at Royal Lahaina Resort so I don't have personal contact information for him.

Marvin's music helped make the ambiance of our wedding perfect. My new husband and I got married at Merriman's out on the deck as the sunset with Marvin's music playing in the background. Our friends and family who came from around the world loved his music and his charm. How can one ever have a more perfect wedding?

Marvin has the most amazing voice!!! When I heard some of his clips online, I knew he was the perfect guy for what I wanted for our wedding. My only regret is that I didn't get to hear him play and sing more, given I was busy with all the bride stuff. I would recommend Marvin to anyone looking for your favorite songs played beautifully in a Hawaiian setting. Thank you Marvin for making our day even more special!

Marvin played ukelele and sang at our wedding reception at Gannon's. He was so easy to work with, arrived on time, and all of our guests were raving about how fabulous he was. I discovered him from a post on my photographer's FB page (thank you, Anna Kim), went searching and found a youtube video of Marvin singing, I instantly fell in love with his voice and knew he would be perfect for our evening and was typing an email to him before the first song was even halfway done playing. It really made our reception so much more personable to have a live music carrying us through the evening. His website has a list of songs that he plays and I was able to email him my preferences of which songs I wanted (or didn't want) and let him pick what he played from that list, he was willing to do song requests of something not on his list if we had a special song to play, but there were so many songs on his list that we loved, and a great variety of country, hawaiian and contemporary, that I didn't need to request anything that wasn't on his list. It was a surprise for my new husband (he thought we were going to use a playlist from our iPod), as we walked in I told him to listen well and soak up Marvin singing and playing for us tonight because this guy is going to be famous someday! I had originally hired him to play just for one hour, but changed my mind and asked him to play for three hours for most of the reception time, great decision on my part! Through conversations, emails and connecting with him before, during and after the event, my new husband and I were both struck by how much we could tell that he is a genuinely kind, thoughtful and very meaningful person, the world needs more good men like Marvin! We are already planning a return trip to celebrate our anniversary and want to have Marvin come play for just the two of us for a romantic dinner together! It was money well spent and I think I would hire him again in a heartbeat for any occasion in Hawaii!

Marvin was amazing for our beach wedding. He knew exactly how to make our special day a musical delight. He was extremely flexible with song selection and didn't really require a whole lot of coordination on the wedding day. Wouldn't have picked anyone else.

Marvin is fantastic!!! Having Marvin serenade us at our ceremony really made our ceremony magical. Our guests are still talking about how wonderful he was. Everyone was impressed. If you get a chance book Marvin you won't regret it.

Marvin is amazing! He is such a talented musician and incredibly professional. He even learned a couple of new songs for us! We hired him to do our ceremony music and at the last minute asked if we could book him for our cocktail hour. He was extremely flexible and having him play at our cocktail hour was a highlight for many of our guests. I absolutely, 100% recommend Marvin for a professional, memorable music experience.

Marvin Tevaga played during our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour. He is super talented and even learned our wedding song for us so he could play it when I walked down the aisle! His set during our cocktail our was a highlight for our guests and made our day even more memorable!

Marvin is so talented and his performance at our wedding was absolutely perfect. He can learn new song requests as well, which was exactly what we needed!
Due to his popularity on Maui, you definitely need a wedding coordinator on the ground to get in touch with him, but otherwise no issues at all and we would highly recommend him!

Quality music performance and professionalism in timing and flexibility. However communication could use much faster response time leaving the client feeling insecure about event plans.

I'm kind of torn by this review. We were really excited about having Marvin sing at our wedding and MC the day. We asked him to learn 4 songs, two during the processional, the first dance and father/daughter dance which we paid extra for in addition to playing for about 4 hours during the day. Now Marvin's voice is awesome and sounds just like his youtube/website clips, he was by far and away our first choice talent-wise. He has a great personality and MC'd just fine.

However, we asked his assistant/manager whether he could play guitar for two songs, which his manager/assistant said he could do, but he played them on the ukulele the day of, which we weren't informed about (which is fine, but it would have been nice to be told). Also it seemed at least to us that he did not learn two of the songs and was just sight reading/playing them for the first time. If learning 4 songs was too many we could have chosen others he already knew, but we weren't told this and to hear the songs we requested and paid for in that way was really disappointing.

I still think Marvin is probably the best choice to go with if you want live music at your wedding in Maui, but just be aware of potential limitations when it comes to learning new songs....
