I couldn't be happier that we chose Malie and her team for our engagement and wedding photos!
I discovered her work on some popular wedding blogs and knew I had to reach out. On our first call, Malie explained her approach so thoughtfully and seemed so genuinely excited to work with us, that we knew she would be a great choice.
Neither of us are particularly comfortable in front of the camera, so when the shoot and then wedding actually came around, I can't tell you how grateful we were for her posing tips and overall good vibes. Other than your partner and bridal party, you basically spend the most time with your photographer on your wedding day. Malie's warm nature and kindness went a long way in keeping me at ease on the big day.
Equally as important: the photos came out better than I could have imagined. They're truly fine art photos, and captured us and the day in such a special way. We'll treasure them always and would recommend Marie Violet Photography to any of our friends! -

Perfect every step of the way!
During our search for editorial wedding photographers, we found Malie with Marie Violet and she immediately stood out. From the very first phone call, Malie put us at ease. She was able to answer all of our questions, provide us with a wedding day timeline, and help us to decide which photography package best suited us. From that first call, I felt that Malie was a friend, and I couldn’t imagine going with anyone else!
From helping me stay warm during an unexpectedly chilly engagement shoot, to visiting our venue for inspiration, to the day of, we felt like we were getting the star treatment. I was on the fence about having a boudoir shoot, but with Malie’s positive and encouraging attitude I decided to go for it. With hair and makeup done, I arrived for the shoot at Malie’s studio and have never felt more confident. We recently received all our wedding photos, and we are STUNNED. Not only did Malie do a phenomenal job of catching all the important moments, but she also made sure we dedicated time during our wedding to get the perfect bride/groom photos that we’ll always have long after the wedding fever has faded. My love of Malie and her work grew with each interaction.
I promise you; a great photographer is one of those vendors that is going to take on your wedding insanity and make you feel OKAY! Malie was a dream come true.

Wow! I cannot emphasize enough how wonderful it was to work with Malie from Marie Violet Photography! When I initially viewed her portfolio of wedding photography, I was blown away by the style and stunning-ness of the photography, and when we received our photos, I could not believe how beautifully she captured our wedding day too. My family, friends, guests, and of course, we as the couple, were all impressed by the quality of her work. Upon meeting and hiring Malie, she made me feel very comfortable, and I could tell how organized, professional, and experienced she was, like sharing an expected hour by hour timeline of the wedding day photography to understand how the photography timeline may be expected to take place (something I of course knew very little about). I knew that we would be in great hands and leading up to the wedding, where she was consistently responsive, thorough, and thoughtful. Considering that my husband and I usually don't like being in front of the camera, she just made us feel so comfortable and her expertise really shined in helping us pose while also feeling very natural. On the day of the wedding, she was a clear leader in guiding us throughout the day, which is exactly what we were hoping for. Malie and her team also did well to collaborate with the videographers and other vendors that were present during the day, and she was flexible while also sticking to a planned schedule of events for the day. Malie has an incredible aesthetic as well as an immense sense of patience and grace, especially with managing a large wedding party, unpredictable weather, outfit changes, and more. 😊 She also created a schedule to ensure that we had time to get photos in my Korean hanbok, which was important to my family and I was very excited for (and of course, these turned out gorgeous!). I am SO grateful and honored to have had the opportunity to have Malie and her team capture our wedding day. Thank you for everything, Malie! Highly recommended! -

Malie is absolutely amazing! She photographed my daughters wedding, back in April, and I knew I wanted her to help me create the perfect gift for my husband, to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary! She did a boudoir shoot, and she took my dreams, and my ideas and brought them to life!
It was a wonderful day, I had hair, makeup, mimosas, she had my favorite playlist playing in the back ground, and she even made me food because I forgot to eat! She made me feel comfortable, beautiful, and sexy, something I haven’t felt in many years due to health problems! The photos were amazing! You have to see her work, her photography is like a fine art. She finds beauty in the smallest details, and you will be so glad you chose her!!! She is a photography genius!!!

We used Malie and Marie Violet Photography for our wedding photos and OH MY GOD she is INCREDIBLE. Our love with Malie started when we had an initial phone consultation with her. We live in San Diego, CA and were planning our big day in Alexandria, VA. From the minute we spoke with Malie we loved her energy, her passion, her spirit and her vision for capturing our most special moments. We decided on a package that included an engagement shoot. As we headed back to the DC area in March 2022 we arranged bridal hair trial and bridal makeup trial on the same day as our engagement shoot. My husband and I knew we wanted photos that were representative of DC, so we picked the national mall. When we told Malie our thoughts she was excited and gave us so many ideas and suggestions which were helpful. The most difficult decision for me was what to wear. Malie helped me tremendously, in fact she sent me so many options of beautiful gowns to rent (which I never would have thought of) and it was such a genius idea. I rented the most beautiful gown and color and it worked out more beautifully than I could have ever imagined. We took photo after photo at the Lincoln Memorial, in front of the Washington Monument and when I tell you the photos were STUNNING. I cried when I first saw them. They are still the most incredible photos and take us back to that very special moment in time. We felt so comfortable with her and she gave us direction on how to pose softly and capture some tender moments between us. Our families were floored when they saw our photos, we have had tears, smiles and speechless responses when showing off our gorgeous engagement photos. We are so in love with them that we share them with family and our bridal party but did not share with anyone else. Instead, we had them blown up into large prints and displayed during our cocktail hour for a museum feel. And our guests were just so in love with the shots. Then some months later was wedding day. In advance, Malie provided us with a survey to fill out to ensure that we had a list of all the photos we wanted and all the family portraits. She also let us know what items to bring to be photographed (e.g. invitation, save the date, something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue, etc.). It was so helpful to have that information in advance to be able to plan ahead and be sure not to miss out on anything. Our wedding day was the best day of our lives and one of our fondest memories was doing photos. Malie had an assistant and they both did an amazing job photographing our wedding. Malie followed me and my husband to get our vantage point and her assistant followed our guests so we got the most amazing and comprehensive photos and vibe of the day. The photos are AMAZING. Many of which were reposted by our vendors including Demetrios Brides (my wedding dress vendor). In each of the photos we can feel the joy, excitement and love captured. We could not be more thrilled with Malie and her talents. We truly feel blessed that we were able to have her as our trusted photographer. I would WITHOUT HESITATION book her again as her talents are endless. And I guarantee that she will provide you with timeless photos that are a true gift both now and in the future. Thank you Malie! Malie evokes a timeless, editorial style in her wedding photography
Malie is an absolute dream to work with! My photos are stunning. They look like they could line the pages of a magazine. The moment I saw her work on her website I knew she would be perfect for my wedding day. Her photos are editorial, romantic, elegant, and truly a work of art. I can’t recommend her enough!
I did not have a typical wedding. We did an American style ceremony then an Indian wedding and reception in the same day, at 3 different locations. Although it was a 15 hour day, Malie was so professional, prepared, and easy to work with. She virtually met with me countless times prior to the ceremony and developed a wedding day timeline I could share with my other vendors and family. It was a high stress occasion and she was spectacular! I had so many family members and guests approach me to tell me how wonderful she was! I was so blessed to have her there throughout the whole process.
Furthermore, Malie will go above and beyond to make sure you cherish your photos forever. She discussed the wedding vision with me many times and got to know me and my husband personally to know what we were looking for. Not to mention, I am the biggest critic when it comes to photography. I had a specific vision for lighting and detail. Malie was more than happy to oblige every request I had and was very patient with me. I highly recommend Malie, she’s exceptional!

My now husband and I could feel the passion and years of experience Malie has in just how she covered even the smallest of details to make sure our memories would be captured to our liking. From directing our poses to giving sound advice on what makes a photo pop, Malie was with us through the entire process. If you look at Malie's past work, that alone would make you sign a contract with her, but her kind spirit is what sealed the deal with us. Malie from Marie Violet Photography is not only a phenomenal photographer, but also a lovely person to have on your wedding day. I cannot recommend her enough. She was so creative, kind, caring, and bubbly—it was like having a close friend by your side all day! This might not sound important, but taking so many photos (first during an engagement session, then on your wedding day) is quite unnatural. You don’t realize until you’re the subject that it’s kind of awkward, which means it is SO important to have a photographer who puts you at ease and truly makes you laugh and smile. Also, your photographer is the person you’ll spent the most time with on your wedding day (perhaps even more time than with your spouse!) so it’s crucial to have someone who makes you feel special. That’s Malie. In fact, the first time we chatted, it was like catching up with an old friend. Her friendliness, immediate understanding of our wedding “vision,” and genuine excitement to be part of our big day immediately convinced me.
I had a specific vision of the wedding photos I wanted: light, airy, gauzy, natural, and romantic. And Malie executed this vision perfectly. We were married at a small inn in upstate New York and Malie flawlessly captured the natural beauty of the outdoor setting. As for the photos of my husband and I, they are the most beautiful and authentic images of us we’ll ever have; I’ll treasure them forever.
Something Malie emphasizes is photographs of your guests. She brings a second photographer so that, at the end of your wedding, you have hundreds of photos of you as a couple, plus hundreds of candids of your family and friends enjoying the day. Seeing these lets you relive your wedding day and glance moments you as the busy couple might’ve missed.
Malie listens to her couples and really takes the time to understand their vision for their wedding and hopes for the day. She is also a fount of advice and wisdom that she’ll generously share with her couples. No question or idea is too small.
From lovely bridal getting-ready moments to romantic post-ceremony sunset photos to genuinely happy wedding party photos, the images Malie captured on our wedding day were just exactly what we hoped for.Marie Violet Photography's reply:

we had Malie shoot our engagement pictures in DC Jefferson Memorial beginning of fall 2018, I can just say the pictures were just so elegant and classy. She works to make your poses look impeccable and perfect. Take the little tips she give you and photos will turn out amazing. She's very professional, was punctual and responds fast to any of your question. She even send me a bride magazine as a guide to wardrobe choices, places to shoot etc. I am just so lucky I have found her.

I am so pleased with the wedding photos Malie with Marie Violet Photography shot for us! She was an absolute delight to work with from the day I met her. Her charisma almost instantly convinced me to hire her. My husband hates taking photos of all types and usually wears a large frown when cameras come out, but Malie had him smiling widely throughout our engagement photos and for our wedding.
She was organized and professional. She was easy to communicate with. She clearly has years of experience photographing weddings and couples. Taking all the photos on our wedding day was pretty draining but she made the process joyful and light-hearted.
Ultimately, our photos are GORGEOUS. There are so many incredible photos we’re overwhelmed! I don’t tend to be a very photogenic person, and Malie got dozens of photos of the two of us that I adore. My family is so grateful to have the day captured so beautifully. I feel like I managed to find the perfect photographer for our wedding, and I’m so grateful.

It was a miracle . Wedding day was on a Holiday day weekend . Mallie and her assistant did a fantastic break taking job. They a great eye for detail. They worked their magic. It was fantastic experience . My daughter found her and I am glad she did . We are pleased with her work. Worth every dime.

User2504212 Sent on 01/13/2016Malie was an absolute doll. We had some hiccups in the beginning, both were out of her control. First there was an issue with the studio, then the hair/makeup was ill. But when we finally met for my buduoir shoot, it was everything and more than expected. She helped me feel super comfortable, even with the lack of clothes that I was wearing. She kept saying how great the pictures were turning out and how beautiful I looked. And she was right! My photos were phenomenal! I looked and felt just like a Victoria's Secret model! I finalized my album on a Thursday and received by Friday evening!! I would definitely recommend her to my friends who want to do something extra for the special person in their lives.Marie Violet Photography's reply:

Everything she did for us had such a beautiful, soft, bridal glow that looks like it belongs in a magazine editorial. She has such an amazing eye for light.
