Perfect Wedding Cake!

This review is long overdue, but we can't say enough about how great our experience was with Renata at Lovely Cakes. From the moment we did the cake tasting we knew our decision had been made - every combination was delicious, and Renata's professionalism was apparent immediately. We felt at ease knowing that our cake was in good hands, and we were thrilled with the results! The cake itself was just as beautiful as we had pictured it being and tasted incredible. Guests were coming up to us all night raving about how delicious it was - even those who don't like cake! We froze the top tier and we're counting down the days until our first anniversary so that we can have some more of it :). Thank you again, Renata!

Perfect in every way!

Renata and the Lovely Cakes team were so fun to work with for our wedding! We went in person for our tasting, and Renata was so easy going and great to work with. She was willing to listen to our ideas (like adding a fondant figurine of our dog to the cake), and sketched out what the cake would look like as we were sitting with her! The cake ended up looking EXACTLY like I wanted it to, and it tasted delicious. It was the perfect addition to our wedding.

Dream cake!

Lovely Cakes was a pleasure to work with from start to finish! The cake was DELICIOUS with so many great flavor options. Renata was so easy to work with and executed what we wanted for our cake beautifully! Would highly recommend Lovely Cakes to anyone looking for the perfect cake for a special occasion.

Delicious wedding cake and cupcakes!

We recently had our wedding, and Lovely Cakes provided cupcakes for our guests and a small cake for my husband and myself. The cake and cupcakes were absolutely delicious! Guests even asked us after the wedding where the cupcakes were from so they could get more! We are so thankful to Renata and her team at Lovely Cakes for helping to make our wedding dreams come true!

Amazing Cake!!

We absolutely loved our cake from Lovely Cakes! It was delicious and our tasting experience with Renata was excellent. She used flavors I requested to also suggest pairings that work well that I didn't pick -- at least one of was our final choice for our wedding cake. She was very responsive and easy to work with, even as we changed our wedding date and our cake dramatically changed in size due to COVID. She listened to what we want and did an absolutely beautiful job -- I couldn't have asked for more!

Delicious cake and great service

Renata and her team truly delivered for our wedding. We had a range of customization options for our cake, and the tasting process was so delicious we can't even put it into words. Every combination of flavors was out of this world, and it assured us we couldn't go wrong. We had confidence throughout the process that ours would be one of the tastiest wedding cakes our guests had ever had – and that's exactly what happened. It was truly perfect.

Beyond the taste, the cake looked absolutely gorgeous. It was elegant and sophisticated, making for excellent photographs and commanding an impressive presence in the room. We couldn't be happier to have met and worked with Renata, and we know you'll be happy to work with her, too.

A masterpiece!

Renata at lovely cakes was wonderful to work with! My husband and I had to reschedule our wedding four times due to COVID-19, and Renata was very flexible throughout the process. We even switched venue locations (the new venue was much further from the bakery!) and the cake was delivered beautifully. All of our guests raved about the taste and design, it was breathtaking!

Amazing cupcakes!

Lovely Cakes did an amazing job with our wedding cupcakes! We had to make several changes due to restrictions and they were accommodating with all of them. Our guests were raving about how delicious the cupcakes were and our only wish is that we had purchased more!! : ) We highly recommend Lovely Cakes!

Gorgeous and delicious cake!

We absolutely LOVED our wedding cake from Lovely Cakes! We had a small intimate backyard wedding in August 2020, and about a month before, I contacted Renata about making a cake for us. I looked through pictures of previous cakes on her website, and sent her a picture of one that we loved the look of, with a few adjustments for us. It was delivered promptly the day of the wedding, and looked amazing, just like the picture. And it tasted delicious too! We ended up getting the white spice cake with both the cinnamon buttercream & their signature salted caramel buttercream filling - and it was all absolutely amazing, and everyone loved it. Would highly recommend Lovely Cakes to all!

Wedding Cake

Renata helped us make our perfect wedding cake and brought what we envisioned together. She was very nice, and during the tasting she gave us two cake flavors we had previously chosen and then had a bunch of icing flavors to see which combinations we liked the most. Our wedding cake came out more beautiful than we ever could have imagined. It was so delicious that we already ate the top piece. You can not go wrong getting your wedding cake from Renata and Lovely Cakes.

Renata makes the most amazing cakes!

Cake was out of this world!

The cake was just perfect! People just wanted to stare at the cake and not eat it because it was so beautiful! The cake arrived on time and was delivered with perfection! The taste of the cake was beyond what people expected. Many who don't eat cake, ate this cake that's how delicious it was.

Delicious and beautiful

We got our wedding cake and assorted wedding pastries from Lovely Cakes. We are so happy with our choice! The cake and the desserts were delicious! Our 4-tiered cake was absolutely gorgeous, and it was exactly as I had pictured. It was the best wedding cake I have ever tasted.

Renata was very nice, and she was very easy to work with. Our cake tasting was so much fun! All of our desserts were exactly as we ordered them, and they were on time at the reception venue. I definitely recommend Lovely Cakes for any event!

WOW! A true showstopper

Renata baked our wedding cake last weekend and words cannot express how happy we were with our cake.
First, the tasting with Renata was super easy and organized. Be prepared to love everything but have to narrow down your choices!
We chose a 4-tier cake with alternating flavors: 1) almond cake w/ lemon buttercream, and 2) vanilla cake w/ cookies and cream buttercream.
The cake looked GORGEOUS in our reception room and the flavors were so, so, so delicious.
It exceeded all my expectations. Thank you, Renata!
Book her early, she is busy for a reason!

So Much Talent!

Lovely Cakes made our wedding cake and it not only looked amazing but tasted great too. They were very flexible and easy to work with when we had to make a few changes due to budget and guest count changes. We challenged them with a Game of Thrones cake and they did not disappoint! Renata is truly talented.

What a not only beautiful cake but delightfully tasteful cake that was made for us for our wedding day! The cake was so good that some of our guests had more than one slice! YUM! YUM! YUM! My cake was beyond delicious. I was so excited to have a few slices left over to devour the day after our wedding because it was the best cake I have ever had! Plus, it was beautiful! Exactly what I wanted! And the experience of working with Renata was such a joy! She is really a wonderful person! I visited her shop and loved her ideas, then I was bowled over by how good it tasted. I knew I had to get my cake from her. It wasn't until I went home and googled her to brag to friends that I learned she won Cake Wars -- in the only episode where the judges had no criticisms of the cakes taste! Even Lebron James loves her cakes. But she is such a warm, humble person that she told me none of that and let her cake speak for itself. Getting my cake from her was one of the very best decisions I made for my wedding!

Renata and her excellent business "Lovely Cakes "are simply the best. Renata made everything so easy and she delivered the cake exactly the way we wanted it to look. Most important apart from the exact decorations,, the cake itself was so delicious. Best quality ingredients. All guests were raving about it. Lovely Cakes did both my kids birthdays in May and June. Each cake was of a distinct theme, I provided the ideas, imagery and color scheme, and they DELIVERED BEAUTIFULLY. Each cake was praised so well, one cake was a Mad Scientist cake with tentacles come out and I couldn't get kids to stop trying to touch the cake at how realistic and gorgeous it was. For my son's birthday cake, we had a bible story theme of Daniel and the Lion's Den, and the cake was so well decorate and fantastic, another parent immediately asked for the bakery information and by the next month, I attended a birthday where two beautiful Sesame Street cakes were ordered from Lovely Cakes. The cakes taste fresh and the fondant is not too heavy. Overall I had a great experience and will continue to utilize this bakery for future orders. Renata is awesome.

Best looking cake and most delicious too!! 75+ people were very impressed! They worked with us to "build" a cake from select pictures and did not disappoint! Ordered another one 2 weeks later for another smaller birthday party and it was just as fabulous!!

This place is awesome. I myself am not a cake person and I even enjoyed our wedding cake. so light and fluffy and not too sweet. We did a buttercream frosting white cake and strawberry I believe jam in the middle. It was delicious. It was with a custom monogram which she had to copy in order to place it on the cake. And it turned out fabulous. Was quite suprised at how inexpensive it was for what she did.

I ordered a cake from Lovely Cakes for a baby shower. It had to feed 35 people, I needed an ice cream themed cake and I wanted it to look beautiful.

I contacted Renata at Lovely Cakes by email because of my busy work schedule. Within hours of my initial email, requesting the size and theme etc. I received an email back with a few introductions and a couple of questions. After explaining that the ice cream theme needed to be fun but grown up at the same time and clearly recognizable as an ice cream themed cake, I received a rough sketch with an explanation of colors and textures. It was perfect. There are also many options for the type of cake/flavor and fillings, so many in fact that I just went with one of the variations they suggested, it was one of their popular combinations. (Canoli)

The cost was $300, for a two tier cake to feed 35 people. Which I had originally thought was a lot for a cake but I weighed my options for quality/skill (check out the pictures on the website very accurate) and my event. You pay 50% for a deposit and the balance upon receipt of the cake which when broken out didn't seem to leave me in tight spot.

The cake arrived, it was beautiful and perfect for the event. The bottom tier had the color and texture of an ice cream cone, the top tier was colored like mint chocolate chip ice cream with a cherry on top. Everyone loved the taste as well as how it looked, we even had cake left over. I would highly recommend Lovely Cakes for your event and will definitely use them again if the I have the chance.

Renata is the cake queen! She is truly a breath of fresh air amid a sea of stuck-up CT cake bakers. A total professional from the get-go, she worked very hard to respect our budget and capture our vision while serving up absolutely to-die-for cake. Our tiered cake with rough buttercream was gorgeous and delicious on its own, and Renata did a beautiful job placing fresh flowers and our custom topper to make it feel truly personal.

Though she probably doesn't need our endorsement since winning "Cake Wars" (!!), we would enthusiastically recommend Renata and Lovely Cakes to anyone!

Renata was wonderful to work with and the pricing for what we were looking for was more than reasonable! We decided to do a cupcake tiered wedding cake with a large cupcake as the topper. We did 5 different flavors and they were all amazing. We would recommend her to anyone and everyone looking for a cake or cupcakes for ANY occasion! The cake Renata made for my son's birthday was exactly what we wanted. It was not only beautiful - exactly like the picture I had sent her with the changes I requested - but it was the best chocolate cake I have ever tasted. It's hard to find a cake that both looks and tastes amazing, but Renata can do it! We live in NYC and I've gotten cakes from several bakeries in the city in the past that were good and beautiful, but Renata's cake was by far the best. I'm so glad I found her and I'll be using her for all my future events!

Renata and her staff are phenomenal! They designed and created a cake from scratch to match the theme for my husband's surprise 30th party. I couldn't have been happier with the way my cake came out. It was breathtaking and exactly how I pictured it. My guests are still raving about how delicious it was and how they want to just order a cake for themselves. The salted Carmel filling is to die for. Renata and her team were wonderful to work with. The cakes weren't just beautiful and unique they tasted awesome. My husband and I are from Texas but got married in CT we wanted a grooms cake (a southern tradition) in the shape of "Big Tex" I sent Renata a image of Big Tex and she sent me 3 different designs at different price points so I could choose something that I liked as well as something that could work with our budget. The grooms cake was a surprise for my husband who loved it. The cakes were so good we took leftovers with us on our honeymoon. We highly recommend Lovely Cakes!

Fabulous job for May 30th 2015 wedding. Renata made 2 cakes, one a traditional wedding cake and a groom's cake that was the talk of the evening. I purchased a "Lovely Cake" for my daughter's baby shower. The theme was "Rubber Ducky" and Renata made the most beautiful cake with two fondant rubber duckies on top sitting under an umbrella. It was the hit of the party. Then we got to taste it. It was absolutely delicious.
I was so pleased. I can't wait for the baby's first birthday to order another "lovely cake".

Renata is the best at what she does, in my opinion the whole of Connecticut. Presentation of her cakes is more than 5 star. She pays attention to every detail of the cake she designs from the taste to the finished product, everything looks perfect. I pay attention to how a fondant is wrapped around a cake and if there are any dents or marks on it and I find none. It takes someone who has great pride in what she does to deliver that level of excellence and quality. I would use her over and over again. My son's Mario cake was beautiful.

Living in Knoxville, TN and planning a Summer wedding in Fairfield, CT proved to be much less stressful than anticipated thanks to reliable recommendations from locals in the CT area. One such recommendation came from our caterer, Sherry Wyatt at Artisan Southport, who could not say enough good things about Lovely Cakes. Wow! Was Sherry ever right!!!

Working with Renata was such a pleasant experience! From conceptualization to construction through to delivering the magnificent work of art to our reception venue, Renata thought of everything. No detail was too small to be overlooked and the final product was absolutely stunning and above all else tasted as decadently delicious as it looked.

Our guests could not stop talking about how beautiful the cake was and how delicious it tasted. We saw many of them taking pictures of it before we cut it. We definitely hit a home run when we discovered Lovely Cakes and Renata Papadopoulos! She is an artist and her cakes are beautiful custom creations and works of art.

Would absolutely, without reservation, recommend Lovely Cakes to anybody looking to get the absolute best!

I have had nothing but great cakes from Renata! I've used Lovely Cakes for both birthdays and special occasions and I'm always amazed at just how beautiful and how delicious these masterpieces are. With some other bakeries, I have found they either have great looking cakes OR great tasting cakes, but it's always a package deal with Lovely Cakes. While pricey, the wedding cake we had was worth every penny. From the frosting to the delicious duo of mocha and chocolate fillings, Renata tailored to entire cake, which included a cake top with our wedding logo, to our individual tastes. We tried a bunch of places all around Connecticut, and Renata's cakes are by far the best tasting! And to boot, they were also the prettiest. I LOVED our cake, and so did our photographer! She even mentioned to me after she saw it how many photos she took of it.

We got a ton of compliments on the cake. Delicious. Lovely Cakes was also about the same price as the other ones we tried around the state. Definitely recommend!

Our wedding cake from Lovely Cakes was spectacular! Renata listened carefully to every request and created a truly lovely cake that tasted delicious. Guests raved about it! In our consultation, Renata gave us great ideas to establish the look we were going for while staying within our target budget. We got to taste 2 mini-cakes baked especially for us to take home. Yum! We went with the chocolate and vanilla tuxedo cake with the chocolate hazelnut filling. Renata was happily available for us to talk to and make any changes throughout the entire wedding planning process. The cake was delivered on time and looked so beautiful with our decor. Renata of Lovely Cakes is an enormously talented artist and baker. I ordered a cake in the shape of the old Shea Stadium to surprise my groom at our wedding. She took extreme care in replicating the design and even thought to include an image of us on a "kiss camera"! My husband and our guests were thrilled and the cake - vanilla with dulce de leche filling - was as delicious as it was beautiful. I can't recommend Renata and Lovely Cakes highly enough.

we had renata at lovely cakes make 2 wedding cakes, both from a photo in a magazine and they were perfect!
when i say perfect, i mean they looked exactly like the mag photos and the cakes were flawless!!
i have seen a lot of mag photo cakes and then the real cake next to it and the real cake is never as good.
but our 2 cakes were exactly like the mag photo and they were gorgeous!
renata is sweet and answered all our emails, she is awesome!!!

the cake was a little dry and not the most flavorful cake i have ever had, but it was so pretty i didn't care that much :)
plus we had other desserts so it wasn't a big deal.
we were out of town and didn't do a cake tasting, so local couples can probably avoid that issue but trying and picking the best.

The owner worked with me and my fiance to design our own custom cake. She drew up some designs for us and helped us pick the one that fit our wedding style the best. Renata at Lovely Cakes did an outstanding job with our wedding cake. I sent her some images of my invitation suite, and she came up with 3 different, equally stunning cake designs. When we met with her in person, she didn't just give us a few bites of cake to try, she actually made 2 mini-cakes, complete with decoration and flavor choices, so that we would know exactly what it would taste like on the day of the wedding. The cake was delicious, and the design was simple, elegant, and beautiful. Renata does wonderful work and I look forward to using her services again the next time I need a special cake!

I highly recommend Lovely Cakes, Renata is very professional and give you amazing ideas. Her cakes are delicious, I loved chocolate with dulce de leche. To die for.
She has so many different options to choose from. Besides her cakes she make's wonderful brownies and pecan bars.

Working with Lovely Cakes was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a vendor of any kind. We needed something last minute that would be beautiful and affordable and Renata leaped right in to assist us. We were able to conduct all of the preliminary business on the phone and by email, using her gorgeous website as a starting point. She delivered on time, exceeded our expectations and was caring and friendly too. My son and his new bride took one bite in front of all the guests and literally screamed, "this is the best cupcake I have ever eaten!"

Lovely Cakes did a wonderful job with my wedding cake. I had an idea of what I wanted the cake to look like, and Renata did an amazing job. She took her time walking me through her previous designs as well as listened to my ideas. Renata is very knowledgeable and gifted in her craft.

The cake was a hit at the wedding!!!! My husband and I were very pleased with the outcome. I would definitely recommend Lovely Cakes to anyone looking for their dream wedding cake.

Words can not express what I felt when I laid eyes on my cake from Lovely Cakes....it was Ah-mazing! My guests could not stop photographing it, they thought it was a card box not cake! It was so fun and exactly what I had chosen from all of Renata's beautiful designs. It was delivered on-time and absolutley delicious (we had the tuxedo cake with chocolate ganache...yum! Can't wait to eat the top in a year!) I would recommend Lovely Cakes to any couple who wants a perfect cake for their perfect day...we got just that! Can't wait for our next party so we can see what Renata comes up with next!

We didn't actually cut the cake because it was too beautiful and we wanted to keep it for our first anniversary! The cupcakes were delicious and were a big hit with our guests.
You truly went out of your way to customize our order and even built a very special tiered cupcake stand that held the cake on the top tier.
We would highly recommend you to anyone who wants a cake for a special or fun occasion.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Renata of Lovely Cakes. I had a unique idea for my wedding cake, and had approached several vendors about the project. When I spoke Renata I could immediately tell that she was confident and knowledgeable. She quickly arranged a meeting with me where we discussed the details of the project. She offered great advice, and together we laid out the plans for my cake. When the big day came I felt totally confident about the cake, and was not disappointed! The cake was absolutely beautiful, exactly what I wanted, and tasted delicious. I received so many compliments, especially on the tastiness of the fondant, and the delicate beauty of her sugar flowers. Renata had created Red Gerber Daisies for the cake that were so real that many of the guests could not tell the difference between them and the fresh flowers right below the cake plate. It was really amazing. I would happily recommend Lovely Cakes to anyone. If you are looking for a friendly baker with creativity, professionalism, and skill, you won't be let down.

Lovely Cakes was extremely professional and provided us with the exact cake we wanted. Even during the tasting we were given three four inch cakes to take home and sample. Every cake flavor was delicious and we ended up using all three flavors for our cake. We were very happy with the result as were all of our guests!

There is a photo of my husband and I standing next to our wedding cake with me near tears because I didnt want to cut it. Forget cake-this is ART! Some bakeries will have you go through a catalog and pick out your cookie-cutter cake. Some will try to push you into doing what they think you should do, whats popular, what "all the brides are doing", etc. And there is the rare person who does exactly what YOU want, and that person is Renata. Our wedding was in an aquarium and we wanted an aquarium/sea life theme cake. All of the other cake designers tried to push the beach theme. The flip-flops, the seashells, the starfish. I told Renata I want an underwater theme, not beach theme, and basically gave her carte blanche to come up with a design. I saw my cake and nearly cried, it was so beautiful. She made, by hand, the most beautiful colorful fish, sea turtles, sea rays, coral, sea grass, I could not believe it. They were so intricate and detailed I thought they were going to come alive. She also made-by hand- a gorgeous dolphin cake topper our of sugar (which someone unfortunately broke, but lets not go there). EVERYONE was amazed and was talking about the cake and taking pictures of it. In addition to being gorgeous, it was also delicious! Renata has several combinations of cakes and fillings and can adjust the flavors to your taste. If you want a creative and unusual cake design, look no further!

Renata of Lovely Cakes was a joy to work with. We went into our meeting with her with an idea for a topsy-turvy circusy cake for our wedding, and she took us tier by tier designing colors and patterns. The finished product was beyond our highest expectations. It was a real masterpiece and totally unique. EVERYONE commented on how awesome it was. Aside from its looks, the flavor (we went for chocolate and peanut butter) was amazing. Definitely the best wedding cake I've ever tasted. We were extremely happy with the whole experience.

Working with Lovely Cakes was an excellent experience. Renata's cakes are beautiful, but the tasting cinched it for us. We hadn't planned on having a groom's cake, but after having difficulty deciding on just a single cake's worth of flavors, we opted to add a second differently flavored cake. Communication was fast and everything was very easy. We live in New York so our face to face time was limited, but with Renata we were able to coordinate everything after the tasting via email. The cakes were gorgeous, delicious, and exactly what we wanted.

Highly recommend!
Renata was quite friendly and guided us towards selecting the most delicious lemon-on-lemon flavor we've ever tasted and from that crafted visually the perfect cake that was exactly as we wanted. Perhaps most importantly, the cake was delivered on time for our wedding! The cake was a hit!

Renata, the baker of Lovely Cakes is absolutely amazing.

For starters, the cakes are absolutely delicious. They are perfectly moist, deliciously filled, and taste marvelous. My husband and I had a hard time in actually deciding which flavor to use, so Renata worked with us and allowed us to choose the three fillings we were stuck between (we opted for strawberry preserves, pineapple buttercream, and cookies and cream buttercream). And I will say, we had a lot of cake which we brought home left over from the wedding the night before. The cake remained delicious and moist for the few days after the wedding which it took us to eat it (and believe me, not a crumb was left).

Moreover, the cakes are absolutely stunning. Lovely Cakes did our wedding cake and a groom's cake, which I surprised my husband with. We came up with designs during our consultation, and I can tell you, the cakes are ten times more beautiful and stunning in person than on paper. She incorporated every color from our wedding (black, white, and purple), and even stenciled on the demask pattern which was a theme throughout our wedding.

More importantly though, the groom's cake was to die for. It has been two weeks since the wedding and people are still talking about it. My brother-in-law even told us to find a way to preserve it and display it (but that is silly and it was too delicious not to eat). I gave Renata a crazy idea of a golf cart (my husband works on a golf course), with our dog (who goes to work with him everyday), and other little details. Somehow, she incorporated all of these ideas and pulled it off perfectly. The club car looked like an exact replica, as well as the chocolate mold of our dog sitting on the cart (even the dimensions looked perfectly life-like). The details were perfect, down to the treads on the tires to the towel on the seat, and the hose in the bed.

Overall, her cakes are absolutely beautiful and delicious. Definitely recommended.

The groom's cake that Renata and the team at Lovely Cakes made for my wedding was beyond anything I could have imagined it to be. It was absolutely one of the highlights of the night. Every person at the wedding took photos of this magnificent cake! I saw a photo of a cake they previously made of the Buffalo Bill's football stadium online and requested to have the same one replicated only with our photo and another team on the scoreboard. I also requested chocolate cake and mint chocolate chip filling, which was not on their menu and they were able to accommodate. It was absolutely amazing!

Renata-the owner, creative force and cake designer-was amazing to collaborate with on the design of my wedding cake.
