Our wedding reception at the La Quinta in Springfield looked much better on paper than it actually played out. About two weeks before the wedding we were told that the coordinator who we had been working with for months wouldn't be at our reception, but instead a new hire who had never worked a wedding reception on her own would be managing it. There were only three other waitresses helping to serve and clean up when we had a total of 154 guests. When dinner began, there was no method to how the tables were served. The groomsman table and mother of the grooms table were served very last and much later than all other guests, at least an hour later. The mother of the groom didn't eat at all because she was so upset. They also ran out of the beef option, telling us later that it was our guests fault for changing their mind last minute, which wasn't true and one of the grooms uncles received the wrong meal even though his place card read Chicken he was given fish. We put $2500 on the bar, there were two bartenders, the bar was not stocked as it should have been, they were constantly running out of things or just didn't have what they needed to make certain drinks. The bartenders also were unable to make even very simple cocktails. The line for the bar was also embarrassingly long at times because one of the bar tenders would have to go get more supplies. Lastly, the reception began in the main lobby then guests were supposed to go up to the ballroom, however they weren't finished setting up the ballroom, so the entire timeline of the night was thrown off and started late. Luckily, the DJ we hired did his best to keep the venue on track.
On a more positive note, the ballroom looked beautiful and the food was delicious.
