Heidi and Greg were great to work with! They helped with every aspect of picking out our wedding cakes and favors. We had a cake on everytable and needed to incorporate a gluten free cake for the bride. They were able to deliver all the cakes and they tasted great. We recieved numerous compliments from guests.
The only thing we didn't like was the cake design...we had pictured a smoother more fondant-like cake topping without any decorative icing drops on the top or sides of the cakes. While the cake was very nice looking it was simply not what we had pictured.
I would definitely recommend Lakes Cakes to others and simply suggest you provide them with a picture of exactly what you want. They do great work, are very professional and make picking out and desigining a cake seem effortless.

I had a pretty specific idea of the kind of cake I wanted and the design ect. Lakes cakes is the BEST cake in town, quite possibly the whole Midwest! AND its the greatest priced. I would NEVER recommend anyone else for a wedding. Our wedding cake was just phenomenal. I am still getting complements to this day! Despite the fact that for the price of the cake we also get an anniversary cake, I saved the top because the rest of the cake was big enough to feed all my guests and then some! I just couldn't have asked for more from Lakes Cakes. You'd be crazy not use them for your wedding.

Lakes Cakes is AMAZING! We loved working with them for our wedding cake and our wedding cake was perfect! When first booking with Heigi and Gregory we went to their home where they provided us a sample of every cake, every filling, and every flavor of icing they had! It was wonderful. They kept in constant contact with us throughot our planning and were very open to any ideas we had. We couldn't have been more pleased. Our cake was everything we imagined and more!

They were amazing and the cake was amazing. It was gorgeous but most importantly it tasted great. When my catering fell apart 3 weeks before the wedding they let me add and assortment of pastries to my order without any hassle. I am so glad we went with them; the cake tasted as marvelous as it looked.

Lakes Cakes is a very reasonably priced bakery. While other bakeries were $3.50 and up per slice - Lakes Cakes starts at $2.60 a slice. Other places also charge you additional for design work, Lakes Cakes doesn't. That definitely makes a huge difference in price. The cakes are also delicious...tasted so much better than the designer cakes places that were $3.50-$4 a slice. Heidi was great to work with and when you go to do a cake tasting she has you taste all the cakes and different frostings and fillings -all the other bakeries make you choose 2-3 flavors and don't let you taste them all. She also made the sugar cookie favors that I had at each table setting for all my guests - they were soooo good and nice - big, thick cookies like Cookies By Design, but actually tasted like sugar cookies instead of dry nothingness. Heidi was also really flexible and willing to change designs on the cookies and cake up to a week or two before the wedding and doesn't charge anything. They also came on time as promised which is very important. I would definitely recommend Lakes Cakes to anyone for their wedding or other special event - Birthday, Graduation, Anniversary etc.

From the very first conversation with Heidi, We knew that Heidi was the one! My Mom had found her and she was having a tasting when I called to talk and even though I interupted them, Heidi was so great and understanding and listened to what I had to say! My mom and I had a vsion for the cake and Heidi took the info and created a masterpiece!!!! My cake was both beautiful but also one of the best tasting cakes I have ever had! My husband(I Love that Word) is a Yankees fan and she made the best Groom's cake ever! It was in the shape of a New York Yankees Hat! He was thrilled! In addition to the cakes she also provided caramel apples as favors! They were a huge hit! I will reccomend Lakes Cakes to Everyone I know!!!!!

We had so much cake left over. Make sure the site involved cutting the cake cuts generous pieces so you do not have leftover cake...at least not the amount we had left. Guests don't like to have scrimpy pieces.

Heidi and Greg did an excellent job on our wedding cake. It started from the initial tasting all the way to the day of the wedding. When my new husband and I walked into the reception we were marveled by how beautiful our cake was. Besides us, it was the center of attention. All of our guest told us how gorgeous and how delicious the cake was. The cake was simply classy and beautiful. We could not have asked for more. I would recommend Lakes Cakes to anyone looking for a beautiful and delicious cake for their wedding. EXCELLENT JOB LAKES CAKES!!!!!!

We actually had wedding cheesecake. Our cake was BEAUTIFUL and people are still talking about how fabulous our cake was! Lakes Cakes made our day wonderful, it was a traditional cake with a twist you don't see at most weddings. Everyone loved it!!!

Lakes Cakes was extremely professional to work with. The owners, Heidi & Greg, pay special attention to the details and treat your event with importance. For instance, when I went to sample the cakes at their home/office, Heidi brought a wonderful spread out on her personal china. This service far exceeded anywhere else I visited and was what made me choose Lakes Cakes. It also didn't hurt that the cakes are delicious :)
I only deducted stars because they were late in arriving to the wedding. However, there was terrible traffic & construction that day and nearly all of our vendors (and guests!) were late. Therefore, I do not think that it is an issue.
I highly recommend Lakes Cakes for the personalized service, beautiful designs and tasty cakes.

Before selecting a cake vendor, I looked at pretty much all the vendors in our price point in metro detroit and I have to say, Lakes Cakes, tasted the best and I think was a great deal for what we got. Being foodies, we were very particular about the taste of the cake, and Heidi and Gregory's was the best, moist enough and tasted homemade.
When I called to set up the appointment, I mentioned we'd like almond cake, and although almond cake isn't apart of her regular cakes, she made some for us. *Note: The almond cake was a huge hit at the wedding. When we went to taste the cakes, Heidi had a plethora of choices separated by cake type and filling, so we could mix and match and come up with our own creation. We loved that we could have different flavors for different tiers of the cake. Also the cost of adding fresh fruit was minimal compared to other cake vendors. We also really liked how each tier had 3 layers of filling (something we only saw at one other vendor).
Everything turned out great, nothing went wrong, the cake was displayed beautifully. I have recommended them to all my many engaged friends.

Heidi was great to work with. She is an amazing artist and baker! She adapted our wedding invitation design into a beautiful cake design exactly as we explained to her. The only problem was that the cake was still being set up as guests came into the hall and that the decorative metal cake stand rental we discussed had not been used. I was delighted with the cake design overall and the amount of cake was very generous.

Lakes Cakes was the best cake that we have ever had in a long time. We had been on 5 cake tasting's and they were the one that we were like WOW. We loved them and my husband can't stop talking about our wedding cake. We were very much satisfied as well as our wedding guest
