Julie was amazing! She was willing to travel to our unique destination (in a treehouse) and had such a great attitude. Lots of energy and enthusiasm too! We loved having Julie photograph our special day and we would highly recommend her.

Julie did both my wedding and my maternity pictures out in Colorado. She is really great at finding stunning backdrops and setting up a picture. Her experience and expertise come through clearly in the photos she takes. She is an adept business woman and clearly communicates with you through the whole process from booking a shoot to finalising and sharing your photos. While taking pictures, she will direct you and make you laugh to get the most candid moments. Our wedding photos are the best thing we purchased for the whole event, and I'm excited now that we just got back our maternity photos!
Couldn't recommend a better photographer!

I can't say enough about Julie and how amazing she was to work with. She is very patient and kind and she did amazing working with all of the children in our wedding, especially my daughters. She kept everything on track the entire wedding and made sure everything went as planned. I felt like she went above and beyond what a photographer would normally do at a wedding. And my pictures are AMAZING! She really captured the beauty of the day. I will for sure work with her again some day on family portraits. :) VERY HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Julie is AMAZING! My husband and I are not big picture people...we were sort of dreading taking all these pictures. But, Julie did such a great job of making it feel natural and having that "eye" to capture shots we just couldn't envision and they are among our favorite pictures! She was quick and efficient so that we all made it to the reception with time to spare. She's incredible with KIDS! You know how hard it is to get the kids to cooperate, and we had a bunch, but she was quick and well-thought out about capturing their attention. Also, one of my favorite traits is how she captures those little moments you don't realize happened because it wasn't the "highlight" but turned out to be some of our favorite pictures. HIGHLY recommend Julie!

Julie is wonderful beyond words!! She is so easy to work with, she is priced competitively, and she is by far one of the best (in my opinion, THE best) photographers in the D.C./NOVA/Shenandoah Valley area. Julie was the absolute best! All the set up and planning was very simple. She is a very kind person and was great at getting genuine reactions and smiles from my wife and me. And the photos are stunning! We especially loved that, for the first look, she was very insistent with our family that everyone leave so that it could be a genuine moment between my wife and me. We highly recommend her for any photography you'd need.

Julie is amazing, best wedding photographer in the area! She is super sweet and personable and professional. My 4 year old daughter was part of our ceremony and Julie had endless patience handling our daughter as well as the other young kids in the wedding and at the reception. Our pictures turned out great, couldn't have asked for more. Will recommend her to all my friends!

I always dreamed about my wedding day.... And when the day came one of my stressors was did I hire a good photographer? Not only was she good.... She was amazing! She went out of her way to cover my day. I'm sure most of my pictures could be in picture frames that you buy or in magazines. She made my special day wonderfully unforgettable. Julie did our engagement and wedding photos and she was phenomenal! The quality of her work is outstanding and she is such a pleasure to work with. You spend a lot of time with your photographer on your wedding day and it was really nice to work with someone that was so accommodating and really went out of her way to make sure the entire experience was positive. She is fun to be around, very easy going and calm but also knows when to take control of a situation to get the right photos.

Not only is Julie a pleasure to work with, her photography skills are really top notch. She is very creative and she got some of the most amazing shots. It rained during our wedding and Julie was a star and stood out in the pouring rain while we stood under an awning so she could get just the right lighting. She is certainly dedicated to her craft.

All in all, Julie was a fantastic photographer and I would highly recommend her. She makes everyone feel comfortable and she really seems like she is having a good time and enjoys what she's doing. We were very happy that we chose to work with her for our wedding and will certainly work with her again.

Julie did my engagement, boudoir and wedding photos and I couldn't have asked for a better photographer! I can't say enough about the quality of her photography, she is without a doubt a true artist. She really knows her stuff! My husband and I had a long engagement, which Julie took advantage of by suggesting we do our engagement photos around the same time of the year and day as our wedding in order to better predict where the sun would be. It made for some really beautiful engagement pictures and helped us choose a time for the wedding. Julie is very organized with a calm yet authoritative manner that gets the job done without being bossy or overbearing. With my boudoir session Julie was professional and fun which made really comfortable. All our pictures turned out AMAZING, I highly recommend Julie Napear as a photographer and would use her again in the future!

Having Julie photograph our wedding was the best decision we made, aside from marrying each other! Having seen her work many times at many events, we knew our photos would be spectacular. What we didn't know was that we would get so much more. Julie is well connected in town and was able to refer us to several other high quality vendors. She attended our tasting with us at the venue and gave us great suggestions for logistics (i.e. how to seat the guests, where to enter from, how to set up tables, color schemes, etc). Her professionalism and skill was noticed by everyone who attended. Our family members called us after the wedding just to tell us how appreciative they were of her getting our family portraits done quickly and in a very organized way. She has a true gift for telling people what to do/how to do it/when to do it, while still keeping things fun, comfortable and making everyone feel at ease. Her knowledge and skills go far beyond that of photography. Not only did she capture some beautiful moments and emotions in photos during our event, but she was integral part of planning one of the best days of our lives so far. I don't know what we would have done without her and I'm very glad that we didn't have to find out. Thank you, Julie, for making that day magical and for making sure we never forget how we were feeling and how happy we were to be marrying each other.

The easiest decision I had to make in the wedding planning process was my photographer, I actually wouldn't pick my date until I had confirmed with Julie that she had the day free. Julie had photographed many wedding I'd been a part of, and I knew she had the perfect style and temperament to make everything as easy and beautiful as possible.

In the crazy world of wedding planning Julie was a beacon of professionalism and so easy to work with. Due to the work Julie puts into keeping up with her clients, she made sure we weren't missing any shots that were important to us. She's also so familiar with the local venues that you know she's vetted the best locations on the property and the best time of day to get the perfect shots. However, the BEST thing about Julie is the super QUICK turn around time - our photos were up within a week of the wedding!

Julie photographed my May 2013 wedding and did an amazing job. The venue was beautiful and Julie was able to take full advantage of it. The only thing I would change about the wedding is that I would have asked her to stay for longer to catch more of the reception shots, but that was my lack of planning.

Julie was friendly and definitely willing to roll with the punches. When we needed extra time for certain things, she was incredibly flexible.

Julie is the best. We were recommended her by a friend, and purchased an engagement shoot from her as a test run before signing a wedding contract. Throughout, we were impressed by her professionalism and dedication as well as the quality of her work. Even the CDs and USBs we received from her were professionally and attractively packaged.

She created a very comfortable and warm environment, which is crucial when you're corralling a churchful of relatives for those family shots; she was able to command the room without irritating anyone. We gave her a shot list extensively inspired by Pinterest, and she pulled off all the shots we asked her with enthusiasm and skill, even when a shot required her to lie on the ground to get the necessary angle!

If you're looking for a photographer, you can't go wrong with Julie.

Julie is amazing! So easy to work with and has great ideas. We had children in our wedding party and she was fantastic with them. They really liked her and listened whenever she directed them to pose. She had most of our pictures loaded on her site within 2 days of the wedding!! The pictures are stunning. We will have a difficult time deciding what to print. One last thing to mention is her character. When the schedule for pictures changed, we told her we wanted to book extra time. Instead of just taking the extra money, she suggested sliding the formal photos to another time so we wouldn't have to pay additional money. That speaks volumes about her honesty and integrity which were very important to us. We would hire her for any future formal event.

Julie did the photography for my daughter’s wedding. The planning stage was easy, with Julie responding promptly to our emails and questions. We assigned a photo captain to each family group to organize and corral our big families and gatherings, so the process of taking the formal family pictures after the ceremony went smoothly and quickly. Julie took so many wonderful formal and candid pictures, seeming to be everywhere at once! I can't believe how quickly she uploaded the photos! Her prices are reasonable, too. We highly recommend Julie for weddings and other events. Her photos are excellent!

Not only were Julie's photos stunning, she was a complete pleasure to work with! My husband and I both (married Oct. 20, 2012) were not sure if we wanted to hire a professional photographer since so many of our guests would be taking photos as well. So glad we decided to go with Julie! Her photos were amazing...she captured a lot of the candid moments that were so important to our wedding. She understood we were both a bit "informal", and had a lot of fun with us getting great shots of us laughing together. I cannot say enough good things about Julie! We knew we'd made the right choice after seeing some fabulous photos after the hour-long engagement shoot, but I was blown away by the photos she took at the wedding. Not only does Julie have a great eye for backdrops and poses, but she was super organized and helpful in setting the day-of schedule while keeping our priorities and large family in mind. Plus, she had a smile on her face the whole time which made her incredibly fun to work with. And, the pictures were uploaded and waiting for me when I got home from my honeymoon! The only problem is chosing which photos are our favorites!

Julie was fantastic. She arrived early, managed to squeeze in all of our various posed family shots (we had A LOT), and captured candid moments throughout the evening. Pictures were posted online within a few days and we had our DVD about a week later. All of our guests kept commenting on how great the pictures look. Julie took the most beautiful pictures at our wedding! She arrived early, worked with us to ensure we got all the formal pictures we wanted, captured wonderful candid shots throughout the day, and took the perfect artistic detailed shots so we remember all the special decorations and moments. Julie makes you feel so comfortable when she's shooting you, that she brings the best out of you to capture in her photos. It's quite amazing, as both of us are quite awkward in front of cameras.

In addition to doing a wonderful engagement shoot at the Thomas Jefferson Memorial in DC, she flew out to Ireland to shoot our wedding in Galway. She did an amazing job, very professional, and so helpful when it comes to the last minute bride related things you don't even think about. She made sure my hair and make-up were perfect for the key shots.

Julie was hands down the BEST vendor we hired for the wedding. She was enthusiastic and incredibly talented. We enjoyed every minute that we worked with her! After comparing several photographers of varying quality, I made the decision to hire Julie, and have had NO regrets about that. Her prices were fair and reasonable considering other photographers of similar quality.

We received our contract, engagement photos, guest photo book, and other items in a timely manner. Julie had guaranteed our wedding photos by a certain date, but our wedding photos were processed and up on the internet before we ever returned from our honeymoon!!! THAT shocked me because many of my friends had to wait several months for their photos.

We made photography one of our highest priorities in the budget, and we are so glad that we did! If I had to do it over, I'd hire Julie in a heartbeat!

I could write pages and pages of good things about Julie. I couldn't be happier with our photos (engagement and wedding). She is AMAZING! She is super friendly and a great photographer. She has such a great eye. My parents and everyone raved on and on about how great of a job she did! At first, I was nervous because there are a lot of photographers in the DC area and I had meetings with 2 of them - and it was a waste of time. I found Julie by chance through the preferred vendors list from our venue - and had a phone interview with her since we were planning our wedding from Florida. I went on her website and was blown away by her galleries. We decided to contract her services immediately. We are thrilled! I HIGHLY recommend her services. She was a part of our special day and caught the most tender moments. She mingled with the guests and wedding party easily and was not obtrusive. When my wife and I were looking for photographers, we stumbled upon some of Julie's work at a wedding venue site. We immediately fell in love with her style. Julie has a unique way of capturing candid and posed images and they really stand out from other photographers' work. Julie has a number of packages that can suit and accommodate every need you may have and she is more than willing to work with you with any special requests.

Overlooking Julie's work would be a big mistake for any bride-to-be. I have seen many photographers' work and have seen many different styles, but Julie's is truly unique. Some people are mediocre in that they have been trained to use a camera and they don't have any real talent. However, Julie, I believe, has a natural talent that cannot be mimicked in any way. If seeing is believe then you need to go to Julie's website and see her work for yourself.

Julie dealt with my numerous gaffes the day of--up to forgetting to send back the template of which family photos I wanted, and shepherded all the feral cats that I'm related to in the nicest way possible for formal portraits. In fact, my DJ actually told me to tell my photographer to talk to him about MCing the event, because she knew what was going on. And of course, I never realized that I was so slim until I looked at the photos afterwards, and the lighting is drop dead gorgeous.

This sounds like a joke but I am dead serious. Thanks so much, Julie! The photos are beautiful!

This is why I loved Julie. . . .

1. RESPONSIVE - Julie was thorough and fast in all her responses. With a multitude of bride questions & concerns, Julie was always patient, attentive, and fast in responding to any of my questions.

2. QUALITY - amazing!!! Check out her photos & her website. They speak volumes of her professionalism & quality.

3. PROFESSIONAL - I'd rather call this point - stealth! The wedding day was wonderful, undoubtedly. And Julie was focused, fast, and yet patient with all the formal portraits. But the other thing I loved was that during the wedding & during the reception, I sometimes wondered if she was there. She was in the background, unobtrusive, and yet the photos appear that she is within 6inches. Ok, some of this is a great lens, but her ability to stay in the background & yet get quality photos in a upclose, personal manner, was wonderful.

4. VALUE - absolutely. I had a hard time comparing photographers before selecting Julie. Sometimes it was like comparing apples to oranges. What one person provided was an extra for another photographer. I struggled at times navigating this. And while we ultimately selected a package from Julie, she was very accomodating at hearing our desires, talking through the options, and coming up with the best package for our needs. Wedding photos are not cheap, and in my research, I decided that you can tell when someone doesn't do quality work. While I had no intention of breaking the bank on a photographer. . . the value of Julie's work at the cost she sets makes her deals excellent and very competitive with other photographers.

5. FLEXIBILITY - while hopefully the above comments highligh her flexibility, I'll share some comments from my wedding guests - those amazed with her images (catching young children without disrupting the fun), impressed by her competence (getting all the portraits done quickly without disrupting the visiting/mingling/ celebration), and ecstatic with the timeliness of available images (with the wedding still fresh in everyones mind, it was fun to see photos so quickly).

I would recommend Julie without any reservation or hesitation. As a person, she is kind, open, and flexible - making her professional work quality, customer-focused, and treasured. (just for clarity, while I'm happy to write a glowing recommendation about Julie & my florist, I would struggle to say similar about the disc jockey).

Julie did a wonderful, professional job for our wedding photographs. She was flexible - helping us stay on schedule when we were running late - but did an amazing job of capturing each moment of the day - often without us noticing! Julie was amazing and we couldn't have been happier with how our photos came out! She is based out of Virginia but agreed to do our wedding in Florida for travel and hotel money because she wanted to go to the beach which was a great deal for both of us. She knew all of the proper shots and the best angles and was very cheery and polite in her direction. Our photos were promptly loaded onto her website so everyone who attended could see them and she then gave us a DVD with the photos on them. We also plan on ordering one of her photo books to commemorate our wedding which we are very much looking forward to. We could not be happier with Julie as our photographer!

As expected, Julie Napear Photography was very professional. Julie really knows what she is doing. You hardly know she is there throughout the ceremony and reception, and she takes many beautiful pictures. Julie Napear was by far the most talented photographer that I have ever worked with! I love every single picture that was taken at our wedding/reception and have gotten so many compliments from friends/family/co-workers, and there were soooo many pictures! Julie was so fast in her work, I didn't feel like the photographs were even taking any time out of the day. My husband, our wedding party and I had so much fun with her! She knew all of the great tricks to acheive every single perfect shot that I wanted plus so many more that I didn't even expect. Julie also helped me out so much with non-photography related things on the wedding day. Furthermore, when we arrived home from the honeymoon all of our pictures were already posted on Julie Napear Photography's website. It was so fast! Amazing photographer for my Late February wedding at Belmont Country Club, Ashburn, Virginia.

Quality service: Julie arrives on time and is great with guests. I received endless compliments on my wedding photos - there are over 1300 of them and honestly are all beautiful photos with perfect lighting and editing. You submit a shot list before your wedding - mine was extremely demanding with multiple group shots taken during cocktail hour. Even after grueling group photos with every family member possible, she took gorgeous outdoor photos, sunset photos on a balcony, and photos in Belmont's bridal suite (which has an adorable bathtub). My favorite shot was taken through a glass door where I am "fixing my makeup." Very creative and classic. Excellent quality and expert photos!

Responsiveness: Equally reachable by phone and email. Any questions I had were immediately answered and suggestions taken into account (but really I didn't have to suggest much - Julie knows the ropes, especially in terms of timing your reception events).

Professionalism: Julie and her assistants are professionally dressed and are very focused on providing you with an excellent end product. Julie is extremely articulate and professional at all times dealing with other vendors, wedding planners, family members and guests.

Value for Cost: In my opinion Julie's pricing is a good value for such high quality photos and service. I wish I had asked her to stay later, as I had her leave before the reception ended to save costs.

Flexibility: I changed my length of service three separate times, once less than a week before my wedding. Julie is extremely reachable and it was not a problem at all.

You can go to Juliie's web site to see how beautiful her photographs are! You can't see on her web site how professional, responsive, flexible, creative, and fun she is to work with. Julie was absolutely outstanding -- we would both highly recommend her. The photos came out beautiful, which was really important to us considering we eloped and so the photos were the only way our friends and family would see our actual wedding. We have had so many compliments on the photos -- Julie captured us as a couple very well, and everyone comments on how natural they look -- which was what we really wanted. Julie was an absolutely wonderful photographer to work with. She helped put my wife, who is terrified of getting her picture taken, at ease. Julie was extremely flexible with setting dates for our engagement photo shoot. My fiance was coming home on leave from Iraq and we only had a few days notice, and she moved things around to make sure that we got them taken on a beautiful day at a breathtaking venue. Julie was absolutely the perfect choice for our photographer. She is so easygoing, a pleasure to work with! She is so down to earth, you can get comfortable and the photos are much better because of that. She always does what she says she will do, always in contact with us and on the ball. I've just finished looking at the photos Julie took at my daughters wedding - I'm completely stunned at how well Julie was able to capture the emotion of the day. I can clearly see the happiness & joy, the humor, - the worry on her dad's face mixed with his pride, just delightful. Her photos allow me to relive the day in perfect detail.

Everything from the formal shots of the wedding party to the fun of the reception - Julie did an absolutely perfect job. Patient and easy to work with, very accomodating about all of our requests, making sure that there were plenty of pictures to chose from (over 1300!). Getting shots of all those little details that will bring to life all the emotion of the day years from now, that's what we wanted when we were shopping photographers - Julie has great instinct for capturing the moments that tell the story of the event. She was everywhere but no one was aware of her - it allowed for perfect recall of how the day actually went.

Julie's price was more then reasonable, she was responsive to our needs and made my daughters day a memory we'll treasure forever.

What can I say other than "Wow." I am so glad that I found Julie Napear Photography and I recommend her to everyone I know. Her pictures came out amazing and she is so affordable. I visited a lot of photographers booths at Bridal Shows and they were all very expensive and didn't give a lot of options for keeping pictures and were snobby on top of that. Julie was friendly and personable and recognized me at a bridal show after meeting with me once and meeting with me at one previous bridal show. Her options are affordable and she gives you a DVD with all of the pictures. I didn't have to pic and choose or worry about wanting a picture months later and not being able to get it. She has been very helpful with putting together an album. Julie and her assistant took nearly 1500 pictures and they were so discreet. Most of the time no one knew they were being photographed and many of my guests have said how wonderful the pictures are and how great the photographers were during the entire event. When my husband and I have children I will use Julie for family portraits and anything else I will ever need a photographer for. If she is available for your event, book her.

I do not have enough good things to say about Julie Napear! She was far and above the absolute best choice we could have made for our wedding. She was extremely professional, fairly priced, fun to spend time with, and highly talented. There were 2 things that were very important to us in choosing a wedding photographer: 1) We wanted a digital copy of every photo she took at the wedding and did not want to be limited by printing through her vendor or only getting a set number of digital negatives. 2) We wanted a photojournalistic style in which she really caught the action as it happened and never interrupted anything to stop and have us take a photo. She was able to surpass our expectations on both of these criteria. Within 3 weeks of the wedding a DVD arrived to us with over 1,200 photos on it. We can now decide what we want to do with them on our own terms: who to print them, where to post them, etc. As for the second criteria, she was also fantastic. With the exception of our posed wedding party and family photos taken before and directly after the ceremony you never once noticed her throughout the night. Instead of 1200 cheesy posed photos, she captured the essence of the entire evening by creating a collection of "fly on the wall" photos that really create a documentary of the whole day.

I would highly recommend Julie to ANYONE looking for amazing wedding photos. I wrote Julie an e-mail after we returned from our wedding in which I thanked her for all of her amazing work. When we started planning our wedding - we wanted to be sure the photographer fit our personalities. Obviously we wanted someone with a great portfolio - but more importantly - we wanted a photographer who would take the posed photos we wanted - and spend the rest of the day catching all the candid moments of both us and our guests. Julie was perfect! She was efficient during all the crazy wedding party photos - while making us all laugh and have fun with it. If you are doing a Virginia wedding, you absolutely need to use Julie Napear Photography! She's absolutely wonderful. I bought a package that gave me a free engagement session, 9 hours on my wedding day plus a bunch of credits to use to purchase printed photos that I'm letting family members use -- and it was very affordable, especially compared to the ridiculous pricing in the Washington DC metro area.

My husband is not a photo taker at all. It's hard for him to take photos with a real smile on his face, but somehow, Julie captured it on both our wedding day and engagement session. I worked with Julie to create a list of MUST HAVE shots from the wedding and she made sure to get every single one, and made them more beautiful than i could imagine. She was also very responsive - i always hear back from her within 24 hours which, to a stressed out bride, is a huge plus! (see for yourself! http://jsnphoto.zenfolio.com/f742719308)

When it came shooting my husbands HUGE family for formal portraits, Julie was able to keep them in line, organized and get the shots done quickly before everyone started wandering away. I've been in weddings where it took forever to get the family portraits but this wasn't the case with Julie.

I can go on and on, but to sum it up, I very highly recommend Julie!

Julie was wonderful! She was extremely professional and it was clear she knew what she was doing! Very organized and she didn't waste any time while taking pictures allowing us to arrive at our reception on time. She blends into the background while working, you don't even realize she's taking pictures yet when you see the photos, it looks like she was right in the middle of it all! Our wedding photos were uploaded to her website the next day and we had the DVD of photos within 3 weeks. We certainly made a great choice and would recommend her to anyone looking for a photographer!

Julie was wonderful and easy to work with! She had great ideas for shots and already had everything planned and set up when we arrived. She was so intent on having everything perfect that she even took pins out of her own hair to fix mine for the pictures. Every single picture came out great. There are almost too many good ones to choose from! We recommend Julie to anyone!

Photography was definitely a high priority for me during my wedding planning. I wanted the BEST pictures and album available. After meeting Julie and seeing her work, I knew my search was over. I was so incredibly impressed with her work and knew that I wanted her to photograph my wedding.

She started with our engagement shoot, which was a perfect "dress rehearsal" for our wedding. The shoot was so effortless and Julie took such beautiful pictures, which were posted almost immediately! There were so many amazing shots that it was hard for me to decide on only 20 for our album! The day of our wedding, Julie worked so hard to make sure she was there on time and that she captured all the important moments of the day. I hired her for 10 hours, and the entire time she had her camera and was busy snapping away. Some of our favorite shots were posted on Facebook the next day!

I am so glad I went with Julie as my photographer. She is unbelievably professional, insanely organized and so much fun to be around. Thanks Julie, for sharing my engagement/wedding experience and for capturing such amazing memories!!

I am SO thankful we were able to hire Julie for our wedding day photography (plus Nick, for videography)! From the first time I saw her photos online and the first meeting we had, I knew she was the photographer I wanted on our special day. I just love looking through all her pictures. After we had our engagement photos, I was even more excited for our wedding day photography! She was a pleasure to work with and is so great at getting through requested pictures quickly. She's amazingly skilled, and easy and fun to work with, and I can't wait to see our wedding photos!

Julie is great to work with both before, during and after the wedding. She is very experienced in wedding photography and her professionalism shines through, whether it's in knowing the right questions to ask in preparation phase, in backing up all her files during the wedding, or in quickly sending us the photos afterward. She is also very pleasant to be around and made us and our guests feel at ease even during the posed shots. And of course her final product (which you can see on her website) speaks for itself. We'd definitely recommend using Julie for your wedding!

Our experience with Julie Napear Photography was wonderful. Julie was very easy to talk to and work with. We found Julie just a few months before our wedding due to our other photographer canceling on us. Julie was able to meet with us and break everything down from listening to what we want and like and in helping us with her suggestions. The day of the wedding went smoothly and the variety of pictures that we had was amazing. Which was bad only, because we had such a hard time narrowing down which ones to put in our wedding album. My husband and I would use her again and would recommend (and have) her to our family and friends.

Julie was a great photographer for our wedding. We asked for only 2 hours of service and she happily provided two hours of great service and support. I highly recommend that you use Julie for your wedding or speical event. She captured us at our best! Awesome pics!!!

Julie was a blessing to have at our wedding! Her professionalism was evident in how she conducted her work, respected the surroundings she was in, and took gorgeous and classic pictures of our wedding. Having known her for some years, I know how important photography is to her and how seriously she takes her work - and it shows! I would recommend her to any couple in the D.C. area.
