Amazing Cake!
I can't say enough about Julie...she is amazing! We live out of town and arranged to meet Julie initially for a cake tasting and to discuss our vision. She guided us and gave us advice based on our design choices and helped us narrow it down. She also helped us through the different cake flavors, fillings, frostings and we landed on a 3-tier cake with 3 different cake flavors. Our guests loved it! We took home the red velvet top tier and it was delicious! The vanilla cake with fresh strawberries was a crowd favorite. We plan to visit Julie's shop when we return to the area on our 1 year anniversary to have more of our favorite cake :) -

Our wedding cake was absolutely gorgeous! I am so happy that we were able to work with Julie to create our wedding cake - she was always responsive and even met with us when she had no voice and wasn't feeling very well! All of the flavors we tried were absolutely delicious, but the ones we chose for our cake were beyond awesome (lemon and raspberry and a layer of strawberry), and many of our guests said so. Julie listened to exactly what we wanted and created a beautiful cake that tasted just as good as it looked! We could not be happier, and only wish we still had some left :) -

We loved our cake by Julie Bakes! Guests rave about how delicious it was! We chose marble with chocolate ganache and vanilla with chocolate ganache. Julie was friendly and helpful. The first time we met with her she listened to our vision and helped us create our dream cake! Thank you, Julie! -

Julie’s cake, both strawberries/ vanilla and lemon curd/ lemon were delicious! The wedding cake was gorgeous with fresh flowers on top and on the layers. Even my husband thought it was wonderful! -

We had Julie create not only a gorgeous 3-tier wedding cake, but also, an expansive dessert bar and it was AMAZING! Our cake was marble with chocolate ganache for the bottom layer, fresh strawberries and cream (my favorite!) for the second with a carrot cake top layer. One of my friends contacted me after the wedding to say it was the “best cake she’s ever had”. I love sweets, so we also asked Julie to make mini pastries for a dessert bar, we had DELICIOUS mini fruit tarts, cheesecakes, lemon tarts, chocolate mousse and more! I can’t say enough about how amazing the cake and desserts were and her prices are reasonable. Schedule a tasting, you will be thrilled you did and your guests will thank you for the delicious sweets!! -

Julie was absolutely amazing! I even added on brownies and cookies in addition to the cake last minute and she did not have a problem with it at all. She was very kind! The cake was absolutely beautiful and so delicious! We had two different cake flavors and they both were fantastic. I would highly recommend Julie. -

The cake Julie made for our wedding was so delicious and beautiful. We chose the funfetti flavor, she added sprinkles in the icing in between the layers, and made the outside look traditional. Exactly what we asked for, and our guests are still raving about it. She was a pleasure to work with, helped with suggestions to keep our cost down and delivery was seamless. We'll definitely be asking her to make another batch for our anniversary! I highly recommend Julie Bakes! -

YUM!!! Julie's cakes are out of this world! Julie was the only baker we met with because after trying her cakes we knew we had found the one! They are incredibly delicious and I have received so many compliments from guests that they absolutely loved it! For our cake we choose a chocolate cake with cream cheese and chocolate ganache filling with butter cream frosting as well as a vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and cream filling and buttercream frosting! Both were out of this world! We saved out topper but it was so good we couldn't bear to freeze it so we ate the whole thing I think in about 3 days :)! If you are looking for fantastically delicious cake go see Julie!! Thank you for being part of our big day Julie! -

I would recommend Julie to anyone on the Eastern Shore looking to have the most perfect wedding cake for their special day. Not only was she an ABSOLUTE JOY to work with, but she is an excellent baker. My wedding guests continue to rave about how delicious her cake tasted. She was also very professional, friendly and flexible. We had a very large crowd joining us who needed to travel so while we initially ordered a larger cake thinking more people could come. After receiving our RSVPs, I emailed her just a few weeks prior and she accommodated making us a smaller cake to fit our needs and charged me less due to the new size of the cake. I was able to work with my florist and the reception location and (very unfortunately bc I was so busy) did not get to see her on my actual wedding day, but the cake topper and extra pieces of flowers were placed perfectly and the cake looked absolutely perfect.
Julie is the epitome of a professional business woman who not only knows how to serve her clients, but also produces a top of the line product. If you are on the eastern shore and planning a wedding CALL HER!!!!! You will not be disappointed. -

Our venue recommended Julie for our wedding cake. She was flexible in setting up our first meeting and helped talk us through what we wanted our cake to look like. We ended up going with a four-tiered cake and it looked fantastic on display! Most importantly, our cake tasted fantastic - we're still hearing that from guests two weeks after our wedding! All of the sample cakes we tried were delicious, which made it hard to choose what we wanted! We settled on a marble cake with mocha icing, which we highly recommend (and won't be able to wait a year to eat the top layer). We highly recommend Julie, and hope we have an excuse to get cake from her again in the future! -

Julie was very responsive when I emailed her. We were lucky because she was even able to accommodate us about 6 weeks out from our wedding day. We are from out of town and were only going to be in Easton one more weekend before the wedding. Julie went out of her way to meet us on a Sunday to bring samples and discuss what kind/style of cake we wanted. She sent us a quote a few days later based on what we wanted which was beyond affordable for our 250 person wedding.
I had heard about Julie's work from my planner and she exceeded my expectations! The cake was moist and not too sweet. We ended up going with her lemon/raspberry cake with vanilla buttercream icing and a marble cake with a vanilla buttercream icing. The raspberry was my favorite but we thought we'd give the non-fruit fans a chocolate option. My family ended up being very happy because we had lots of leftover cake (my caterers shoved it in the corner where no one saw it! Oops!). It's been 2 months since my wedding and I'm considering getting the top of my wedding cake out of the freezer because I'm craving it as I think about it! -

I love Julie and I soooooo love her cakes! She was so easy to work with and her talent speaks for itself. We picked four different flavors to try, and when we met with her for our tasting she gave us four mini cakes. Second to our wedding, that was one of the best days of the entire wedding planning process. Each flavor was so delicious we couldn't pick just one. My husband and I decided on a three-tier cake: vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and vanilla cream, vanilla cake with chocolate cream, and marble cake with chocolate ganache and vanilla butter cream. Her prices are almost too affordable (if there is such a thing) and her design was even better than we imagined. We had a vision in our heads, and we showed Julie one picture and the result was perfect. If we could relive the day over again, we would choose Julie Bakes again and again. -

We had a wonderful experienced with Julie! From the initial meeting she was professional and detail-oriented, and her sample cakes were both delicious and huge! We also threw her a curveball at the last minute and swapped the flavors of our bottom and middle tiers, but she took that in stride and the end result was both beautiful and delicious! We're glad we saved the top tier for ourselves as there were no slices left at the wedding! -

My husband and I originally reached out to Julie because my friend who LOVES cake said she had tried all the bakeries in the area and Julie had not only the best tasting cake, but the best price. That was all I really needed to know! She brought four (beautiful) mini cakes to our tasting that we could take home and they were AMAZING! Our guests are still raving about how delicious our cake was. We had funfetti (the best!), chocolate PB, and red velvet. The chocolate PB was sinfully delicious! Our cake looked fantastic and she even made a Washington Capitals themed groom's cake. We are so happy with our choice! -

Wonderful experience with Julie! She was very flexible in meeting us so we could try different cakes flavors. She gave us four free samples to take home and we shared them with friends to help us decide. They were all SO delicious! We ended up picking two flavors for our 2-tier cake - vanilla w/strawberries and cream, and chocolate with raspberry preserves. Not only did it taste amazing, but it was also beautiful! It was exactly what we asked for. We saved some leftovers in the freezer and I cant wait to have them on our anniversary! I would highly recommend Julie Bakes! -

We met Julie at a Panera Bread to discuss what we wanted our wedding cake. We came at her with multiple ideas with an overall beach theme. Julie wrapped all our our ideas together and jotted it down and unravelled a beautiful creation. We could not wait to see it on our wedding day. The wait was so worth it! Making it to our 1st anniversary before we can eat the top layer of our cake is proving to be extremely difficult. It's been one month...
Julie is one of the most professional individuals I have ever met and I never for a second had to question whether my cake would be exactly as I'd hoped or on time etc. Guests all mentioned to me how delicious it was and it was absolutely beautiful! -

We tasted cakes at other bakeries and this was by far the best! She made personal samples for the tasting that were freshly baked. She made a special groom's cake with a college logo and it was superb. We received praise from all our guests -

We worked with Julie for our wedding cake. She was extremely easy to work with. We met with her about 8 months before our wedding to show her what type of cake we wanted, pick the design and taste the cakes. The cake looked exactly as we described and tasted great. We got to keep the top tier for our anniversary cake. We will see how it tastes in a year! -

We absolutely loved working with Julie. We met with her to do a tasting and couldn't decide which one we liked best so we did one on each layer of the cake. The cake was so beautiful we didn't want to cut it but we did and everyone loved it. We also had a grooms cake with the logo of the Buffalo Bills on it for the groom. It was such a pleasure working with Julie.

Everyone in the area has referred me to Julie. My first review of no responses she was on vacation which is something we all need so please ignore that and I can not wait to see our wedding cake. From our initial meeting with Julie we knew we loved her style. She right away understood what we were looking for and came up with a design for our wedding cake with us and was upfront with pricing. All her flavors were delicious and choosing was so difficult! When we saw our cake on the wedding day it exceeding expectations on so many levels! Julie was great to work with. She was very open and accommodating to my needs and requests. I was very overwhelmed with cake designs but she came prepared with tons of pictures and advise to our first consultation. I gave her a pretty unique design for a 4 tiered cake with 2 different flavors and she pulled it off better than I could have imagine! She also did a rehearsal dinner cake that was delicious and beautiful!! I would definitely use her again in the future if I'm back in the area and would highly recommend her to anyone. Her prices were worth every penny! -

Outside of the "tasting" on the wedding night, I didn't get a piece of cake then. However, it was served the next day at breakfast and I was able to eat both of the layers we had. It was amazing! I would recommend her for anything. I just hate that I live so far away, I need to find a good excuse to use her again. -

I just wanted to say thank you for the most amazing cake ever. I know I am biased because it is my wedding, but people literally had anxiety trying to make sure they got to try every flavor. They went for seconds and thirds. And your design- perfect. I was probably a difficult bride to work with because I knew what I wanted in my head, and I knew I would know when I saw it, what design I was looking for. You interpreted my ridiculous collages of cake photos perfectly. It was a perfectly balanced, rustic cake, not too many billy balls like i had said- I love how you spread out the billy balls on the layers so it looked like the design dissipated throughout the cake. it was absolutely perfect!
When husband and I cut the cake, part of the piece didn't come out of the base, but we fed each other what we had pulled out, and then got upset because they started taking pictures and trying to whisk us away to dance- we said "no, let us finish this cake!" so we dug out the rest of the piece and enjoyed every morsel. The pumpkin was to die for. so moist. We saved one in our freezer, and have literally been eating cake since the wedding. My dad loved the chocolate (even though he does not like peanut butter....). And my mother in law loved the almond! We had a flavor of each at our sweetheart table!
It truly was a pleasure working with you- we will drive across the bridge for your cakes for all of our future occasions! Thank you for making our day so special!

Contracted Julie to bake our wedding cake for an October wedding and it turned out fabulous! Our initial meeting was very productive, as Julie brought many pictures of past cakes in her portfolio which helped us form our design. We initially were going to go the cupcake route, but after seeing, and tasting, Julie's work we decided to go with a cake. she was timely and the cake looked perfect. We actually saw it for the first time while doing our first dance, and it distracted us a bit because it looked so nice! Everyone commented on the taste too, so barely any went to waste. If having a wedding on Maryland's Eastern Shore I would definitely give Julie a call! You will not be dissapointed! -

Julie and her cakes are fantastic! Julie worked with us to create a cake that melded several ideas and pictures that we liked into one gorgeous masterpiece! Not to mention, her cakes are absolutely delicious! We selected lemon cake with lemon curd and raspberry preserves and it was fantastic! Her cakes are some of the best I have EVER tasted and it became my mission to actually eat a piece of her cake at my reception (which I did!). Julie was great to work with. I had a picture from a magazine that I wanted the cake to look similar too, but more specific to my wedding and the cake turned our perfectly, better than I pictured. The cake is also delicious. We had vanilla cake with peanut butter icing, and marble cake with chocolate ganache. I can't wait to eat the top of the cake we saved for next yet! -

Julie Hanes made an amazing wedding cake for us - it was everything we had envisioned in terms of design and just as, if not more importantly, it was absolutely delicious! We received many, many compliments from our guests.
For our tasting, she let us choose the flavors of the samples we wanted to try and made fresh sample mini-cakes, which really impressed us because A) Julie obviously put in a lot of time and care into making them, for people that weren't even customers yet (other vendors we visited for tastings brought out defrosted cake, and it was just in bad taste in multiple senses of the word); B) They were so, so tasty. She then patiently helped us select the designs for the tiers. On the day of the wedding, Julie arrived with an assistant a few hours before the ceremony to deliver the cake. Many of the weddings I've been to had beautiful cakes that were lacking in taste (either dry, or the cream was just too sweet), but Julie's exceeded our expectations because it was absolutely gorgeous (all buttercream!) and tasted decadent. -

Julie did a fantastic job on our wedding cake! She was very professional to work with and she worked with me to design a cake exactly like one I had fell in love with after seeing it on Pinterest. If you don't have a specific design in mind, she has tons of photo albums of cakes for you to look at so you can get an idea for what you would like. I wasn't a fan of most of the filling flavors from the tasting, but the peanut butter filling is absolutely amazing! We ended up getting alternating tiers of chocolate and vanilla cake, both with the peanut butter filling. All of our guests loved it and many ate multiple pieces it was so good! Julie made the cake look exactly like I wanted. I would highly recommend Julie Bakes. -

As a wedding vendor, I have had a LOT of wedding cake in the past three years but, let me tell you, Julie is the best! We loved tasting her creations and the ones we chose were HARD choices because we liked EVERYTHING she's done! I gave her a ton of changes, beginning to end, and she was so polite and professional and willing to work with me until the cake was PERFECT. She had the perfect shade of blue, designes that matched my wedding dress, the whole bit. The day of, when traffic was nuts and the ceremony was drawing near, she took the time to send me a text to tell me not to worry that, though she was running behind, she was only a few miles out and not to worry. She was the only vendor to do that and it was much appreciated! The cake was delicious and lovely and I HIGHLY recommend her to any bride!!! -

She really worked with us to figure what would work and came up with wonderful ideas!
We served our coconut flavored grooms cake on Friday night at our rehearsal dinner and every was raving about how delicious it was! That really made me excited for the strawberries and cream cake and marble cake with chocolate ganache that we picked for our wedding cake! And it was by far the best cake I've ever had!! 3 different flavors of cake and each was outstanding!

What a wonderful wedding cake - Julie created everything we asked her to create. The tasting was so yummy - it really helped to narrow down the exact cake that was at the wedding.

Julie did a fabulous job on our wedding cake! First, she met us on a rainy day and brought us mini cakes so that we could taste various cake flavors and icings. It was my husband's favorite part of wedding planning! We showed Julie a photo of a cake that another baker in the area had designed. We were unable to afford that cake at the neighboring baker, but Julie was able to produce a replica for significantly less! It looked perfect and tasted even better! My husband and I were looking for a wedding cake that wasn't too sweet, yet also elegant - of the cake vendors/bakeries that we considered, Julie had the best-looking cakes that tasted the best. She customized the cake to exactly how we wanted it. On our wedding day, we received so many compliments on how awesome the cake looked, and how delicious is tasted. At most weddings, the cake is not that exciting and there are always tons of leftovers - not at our wedding! We just had one large slice to take home, and the rest of it was gone by the end of the wedding night. The only caveat I have is if you get the fresh cream and have a summer wedding, keep it in the shade or indoors until the reception - a corner of our cake melted before we got to cut it, but luckily not so bad that it ruined the pictures. We highly recommend the vanilla cake with fresh strawberries and vanilla cream - AMAZING!!!! -

Julie is absoultely one of the best bakers in this area! She is super creative and flexible. My husband would not purchase a cake without first tasting it, I mean not even hold the date! I was convinced that his grandmother would have to make our cake! But Julie with her flavors blew us out of the water!
She worked with us on our design to keep the price low but still feed the most people. She suggested back up sheet cakes, and was flexible enough that if we needed to add on, she was on board. The cake came out beautiful and delicious.
We'll be coming back to Julie for all of our cake needs, and especially for our 1yr anniversary cake for sure! Trust Julie! Other vendors even told us she's the best in the industry! The only thing is be patient. She didn't respond right away, but she did respond promptly when we requested info, but she came so highly recommened that we kept trying. IT WAS WELL WORTH IT! And by prompt I mean she responds to emails within the week, not same day as some vendors which was ok by me.
Don't take a chance. Trust someone who is tried and true! If you want a cake that doesn't just look good but tastes good too, trust Julie! I highly recommend her. -

She was recommended to us by another vendor that we used for our wedding, and we are very glad we went with her. When it came time to select the vendor to make my wedding cake I was very picky as I wanted the cake to not only look good but taste amazing as well. When Julie was recommended to me by my venue I thought I would go for it. All of the cakes she had on her website looked amazing. When we met for the tasting I brought a picture of what i wanted my cake to look like. Julie was great through-out the whole process and made the selection of the cake so easy! My now husband and I did a different flavor of cake for each tier and Julie was completely fine with it. The cake tasted amazing and my guests raved about it. When I finally saw the cake at my wedding reception it looked absolutely amazing and better then the picture I had given her. I would highly recommend Julie to anyone in the future as her work is amazing and baking as well :-) -

Our cake was delicious and absolutely beautiful. Julie was easy to work with and I loved the cake she made for us. She was fairly expensive compared to other bakers in the area, but she did make a great cake. My only complaint was that she charged by head count. The exact same size cake cost more if you had more people- I didn't think this was very fair pricing. Other than that, the cake was perfect -

Julie's cake was honestly the best wedding cake I've ever had (sorry my married friends :) I may be biased, but I really don't think so. Many guests approached me and said the same thing, sweet loves and non-sweet lovers alike!
We chose the strawberry vanilla cream, basically strawberry shortcake, and not only was it delicious but was BEAUTIFUL. Julie took the design from our save-the-date (her idea) and replicated the design onto the cake. She also had us leave her some of the flowers from our centerpieces and placed them on and around our cake upon arrival. These small details make what is just a cake, extraordinary. Everything was delivered as scheduled and I didn't have to worry about a thing.
I would also add that the actual wedding cake tasted even better than the samples at the tasting. So if you like the tasting, brace yourself :) -

LOVED my cake!!! I changed the design a couple of times and Julie was very patient and supportive each time. The final design was a blend of several that she has previously done, and it turned out better than I had even imagined it! She can be a little tricky to get a hold of, but is very reliable otherwise. I recommend calling during the day if possible over email. -

Her cake are not only beautiful but DELICIOUS!! I can't tell you how many people at my wedding loved the cake. She did both my wedding cake and the groom's cake. She also has great prices! -

Julie made my bridal shower cake and wedding cake. Both were delicious and beautiful. I have gotten many compliments on them both. She does not return phone calls quickly, but I did have better luck through emails with her. I was very happy with her services and would use her again. -

We loved our wedding cake! Julie did a great job of keeping the decorations simple, just as I had asked, and the cake itself was delicious! I was very wary about getting a wedding cake because they are usually too sweet and over-iced, but ours was just right. We got the vanilla with fresh strawberries and toasted almond w/ chocolate cream. There was just enough left for breakfast cake! Sometimes it does take Julie several days to respond to emails, but the ordering and tasting process still went very smoothly. Her cakes are very affordable and she was able to offer cost-cutting options for us as our budget was a little tight. -

Julie was pleasant to work with and her cakes taste heavenly. The only thing that I wish could have been different is that the cake came on carboard wrapped in aluminum foil. If I had known this I would have purchased something a little fancier to sit the cake on. However, everyone LOVED the cake and it was gorgeous! -

The cake that Julie provided for our wedding day was absolutely gorgeous and yummy! I received nothing but compliments from all of my guests on how delicious and fresh the cake tasted. Julie was also very pleasant to work with. The only complaint I have is that she was not always responsive to e-mails, but in the end she got the job done and did it superbly! -

Julie was extremely helpful when it came to discussing the design for our cake. I think I surprised her when I showed her the exact design that I wanted on my cake. She delivered a fabulous cake - it tasted amazing! Fresh strawberries and vanilla cream in between moist vanilla cake - everyone commented on how light and delicate it was, not too sweet and perfect for a warm summer wedding dessert. The only two things I would say that bring down the rating is that email was the only way for contact, and I think in transport some of the designs either got crushed or the piping was slightly inconsistant. Other than that the cake was wonderful - I am glad we went with a larger cake since we had a fairly large cake topper and more people than expected to feed. Thank you Julie!! (And yes, Gino smeared cake on me after the cake cutting.) -

Julie is an excellent baker and our cake was exactly what we asked for - a smaller two tiered naked cake, chocolate with raspberry preserves, vanilla buttercream, and berries on the side. We were very pleased with the final product, but a little frustrated throughout the whole process. Julie is very nice and definitely is a hard worker, but she was not the most responsive to our emails, which was a little frustrating at times. There were also a few details that she accidentally mixed up - we had agreed on having someone pick up the cake, but were initially charged the extra fee for having the cake delivered. When Julie realized her mistake, she brought it to my attention right away and it all worked out. I still recommend her services, just wanted to mention the few frustrations we had. -

Julie Hanes provided a yummy, beautiful cake for our wedding at a fair price. She has many different options of cake flavors and fillings and is creative with the design. Julie takes her business seriously, but also has an important job as a mother to young children, so she is not accessible at all times. A few e-mails were not returned for several weeks. Regardless, we were very happy with our wedding cake! -
