Beautiful, personalized ceremony

Susan provided an absolutely beautiful wedding ceremony for us. She spent time in the weeks prior to the ceremony getting to know us and what we wanted in our ceremony. She crafted a ceremony that was beautiful and very "us". We loved her suggestion to do a love letter box and expect it will be a cherished part of our marriage. Susan walked us through everything so that we could focus on what was important- being present as we committed to each other in marriage. We were planning our entire ceremony from several hours away, and it was a blessing to know that everything was in Susan's capable hands. We would recommend her to anyone looking for a special, love filled ceremony.

Our Wedding with Susan

From the very first phone call with Susan, we knew she was perfect for the vibe of our wedding. She took time to get to know us individually and our relationship, then tailored our ceremony to what was most important to us and our marriage. I knew I wanted an apple tree planting unity ceremony, but wasn't sure how I wanted to organize it. Susan wrote a beautiful piece to represent us planting roots together, watering our marriage to make it grow, and seeing the fruits of our commitment grow years down the road. Susan met with my husband and I before the ceremony to ease our minds, and I felt so at peace with her there. The ceremony was wonderful and I truly felt like she was another family member joining us to support us. We are so grateful that we found her and that she was able to join us in celebrating our futures together!

Susan was amazing!

Susan was the officiant for our beautiful wedding in Canton NC. She was so caring and kind. She made the ceremony so special and wondering for us. I highly recommend her to any couple. My husband and I loved every minute of our day and Susan was a major part of that.

October Asheville Wedding

Perfect wedding officiant!

Can’t thank Susan enough for being our officiant. She was amazing to work with from our initial phone call. She provided us the opportunity to really pick and choose the messages we wanted our guests to hear, and it really felt uniquely catered to our specific event. She fit in seamlessly in a small wedding with just our family, but I can imagine she would also be great in all other situations. On a day where nerves are high and many of things can go wrong, Susan was calm, collected and helped make our day one we both won’t ever forget.

Susan: The Best Officiant Around!!!

Susan is truly such an amazing person. During our phone calls she took the time to get to know us and get a sense of us as a couple. She made us completely comfortable throughout this process, respected our wishes, and absolutely delivered on the day of. My now husband and I are not very religious but have a sense of spirituality. She was able to create a ceremony ythat felt true to us and encompassed us as a couple in such a beautiful way. She always emphasized how this moment should be how we imagined it and to stay present with eachother throughout the ceremony. It was absolutely perfect, thank you to Susan for your attention to detail, caring nature, and calming presence. We cannot recommend her enough🫶🏼

Susan is a treasure!

Susan was our officiant for our wedding on May 15th, 2024. Which also happened to be her birthday. She was so kind enough to marry my husband and I in the sweetest, intimate ceremony at her beautiful home in the mountains surrounded by our two daughters. And on her own birthday nonetheless. She was kind, efficient, witty, funny, and made sure to include everything we wanted her to include within the ceremony and our vows. She helped to make our special day so extraordinarily special. We would highly recommend Susan for any one looking for an amazing, thoughtful, truly talented & passionate about what she does kind of officiant for their own special big day. She is Great

There was a lot going on that day and cold. It was supposed to be outside but we had it in my moms dining room and it was still lovely. She was so understanding even though we had a lot going on.

We loved customizing our ceremony to fit us!

Susan was very professional and helpful throughout the ceremony planning process. My husband and I did not want a religious ceremony and Susan helped us create a meaningful and beautiful ceremony that felt totally customized to us a couple. She gave us ideas of different ceremonies to include and we chose to include a sand ceremony, which was wonderful! She was able to give us ideas when we needed guidance as well as the option to customize any part of the ceremony. ALL of our guests commented on what a beautiful ceremony it was and that it was totally "us".

Perfect Magic

Every bride wants their wedding day to be magical and perfect. That os exactly what my day was. I am so thankful for Susan and the role she carried for us that day. She was amazing through the whole process. From the very beginning, almost a year ago. Offering us ideas and never telling us no to what we wanted. she was open to my input and changes. Also not getting to do a rehearsal, it was super helpful and comforting with how often she went through the ceremony over the phone and emails to make sure it was what we wanted. The day was perfect and I am so grateful for Susan, BeLoved Ceremony for her calming, encouraging and peaceful energy she brought us. Plus to be so gracious with our 7 rambunctious kids made it that more serene.

Book susan. Trust me.

Susan was incredibly patient with us in the planning of our ceremony. She had wonderful ideas to make it really special and unique, and made it abundantly clear that it was our ceremony and we could do what we wanted, but she helped guide us to make sure we had thoughtful moments throughout which made it so very special for everyone there (the ideas that we did go with- the love letter box, the wine exchange and tokens for each other's parents were so great, and we never would have thought of those on our own. We didn't want anything cheesy and these weren't- they were awesome, and the ceremony was a perfect 25 or so minutes). She was very responsive to phone calls and emails leading up to the day, and she had no issues at all with minor changes or additions to the ceremony right up to go-time. You can truly be as hands-on or as hands-off as you like, and Susan will nail it for you. We have received so many compliments from guests saying that Susan was wonderful, and that our ceremony was unlike any they'd seen. She even handled the mailing of the marriage license for us so we didn't have to worry about that before leaving for our honeymoon (you only have ten days!). I would absolutely recommend Susan if you want a ceremony that is incredibly special. She is assertive, confident and so cool, and I can't imagine that day without her.

The Perfect Officiant

Susan was an amazing officiant on our wedding day. We eloped from out of state, she called me right away to plan the ceremony and had very good ideas to incorporate. The day of she arrived early and my husband said she had a very calming presence about her which I 100% agree with. Highly recommend!

Wonderful officiant!

Logan and I loved working with Susan! We wanted a spiritual but not religious ceremony and she was able to take our desires and put them into a beautiful heartfelt ceremony that reflected our love and beliefs perfectly. She wants the ceremony to be exactly what you want and will even let you make changes to it the day of your wedding if you want. Her voice is very calm and soothing and she is a poet with her words. My husband's parents have passed away and she made a special effort to honor them during the ceremony and it meant so much to us! We can't say enough kind things about her and would definitely recommend her to anyone that wants a relaxing, heartfelt ceremony.

Amazing, talented and caring

Susan, was amazing. From the first time we spoke and reviewed the ceremony, she was always able to put us at ease and help us through any questions we had. Kevin and I have different beliefs, Susan was able to help us through with wording our ceremony to fit what we wanted to express to each other. She was able to bring all of our thoughts and feelings into words, then shared them with our guest.
Though we had not met Susan in person before our ceremony, she made us feel like we have been friends for many years and spoke from her heart about us. All of guests were taken by how beautiful the ceremony was and how Susan delivered the words and meaning of the ceremony to us. Her elegant voice and heartfelt love that she expressed during the ceremony was felt by all. She was amazing and I am so happy that we were able to have Susan perform our wedding ceremony. I would recommend her to anyone who wants a relaxed, heartfelt and loving ceremony. Susan is very easy to work with and available to help anytime you need it.

Wonderful Wedding

Clay and I loved working with Susan. From the beginning, she was responsive, caring, and flexible. She helped us personalize the ceremony in all ways from the words, the vows, and the location. She drove an hour so we could get married in one of our favorite places just off the parkway. It turned out beautifully. Extremely meaningful and memorable. Amazing ceremony- could not be happier

Susan was the best officiant that we could ask for. She makes the ceremony completely unique to each couple and takes in a lot of input prior to writing everything. You could tell that she was prepared and loved what she does. She brought out all of the emotions in the ceremony from everyone that attended. Kind, unique, and BEST non-denom officiant

We were blown away with how experienced Susan was during our initial over-the-phone conversation. Her ceremony was personal, just the right amount of spiritual, and blew our guests away. We had so many kind words from guests about how they’d never heard such a unique and couple-centered ceremony which meant the world to us. Meaningful, memorable, perfect

Susan has the ability to make everyone -- regardless of religious background/belief -- feel part of the ceremony. Her language is inclusive of all, and exactly what we were looking for. I grew up Catholic, my husband grew up Jewish. Neither of us are part of those religions anymore, but have family members who are. Some said this ceremony was more meaningful than any they'd been to inside of a church.

Susan was responsive and helpful from beginning to end. She took the time to sit with us and go through the entire ceremony word by word to be sure it was what we wanted. She is very flexible and open and a genuine pleasure to work with. I was SO happy we chose her and wouldn't hesitate to recommend her.

A purely amazing officiant

Finding the perfect person to officiate your wedding can be a daunting task. However, Susan shined above and beyond anyone else. Her calm demeanor and soothing tone, made everything feel as though it would be just perfect, and it surely was.

My partner and I wanted something that was personal, that spoke to our beliefs and values and didn't compromise on how beautiful the words spoken should be. We got every bit of that and more. Our ceremony was incredibly heartfelt and sounded as though it was spoken by someone that had known us for years.

The number and emotion of the compliments we received from everyone were astounding. Susan moved most of our guests' to tears with the sheer elegance of what she said.

We're so glad she was recommended to us and ecstatic with our decision to have her officiate our wedding. She's so accepting, kind, sweet, patient, and professional. I would imagine that any ceremony she officiates would reflect that, and she will always be my go-to recommendation for wedding ceremonies.

Our search for a wedding officiant in Asheville, NC began online. Many local officiants have unusually low fees, but are unwilling to meet you in person prior to your wedding day, which was not an option for us. When Susan met us, we didn't know what to expect, but she laid out her entire plan for the ceremony, asking questions along the way to customize it to our liking. We wrote our own vows, which she was happy to have us recite along with her, and we decided to do a love letter box and wine exchange.

Being able to personalize our ceremony and use wording that was not religious, but would leave room for interpretation, really meant a lot to us. I had looked through many officiants' pages on Wedding Wire and was immediately drawn to the way Susan expressed herself. It was evident she had a wealth of experience and a deep passion for what she does. (Some officiants are part time, but this is Susan's full-time calling!) Our guests were very moved by what she had to say, and remarked that she held their attention throughout the ceremony. Susan was the perfect fit for our wedding. During our first phone call with her, both of us were unprepared for the emotion we'd feel just from a ceremony run through! We were running late and took the call in our car and were both crying when we hung up. She made it clear that there would be no surprises or off script moments and her confidence in performing the ceremony put us both at ease. We walked through words we wanted and didn't want and added an 'in memoriam' moment for my husband's late father which made all 22 of our guests sob with emotion. She was flexible and amenable to changes even to the minutes before our ceremony and was willing to try something new. We wanted a ring warming ceremony which she had never done but embraced it completely. I am so grateful she did because it was such a beautiful part of our wedding. Immediately after, we had so many compliments on how personal, heartfelt, and intimate the ceremony was and it was ALL Susan. In fact, it felt so personalized that guests asked if we had written the entire thing ourselves (again, all Susan). Even my 79 year old grandfather (who always has his own opinions about everything) said it was the best ceremony he had ever been to. Susan has touched so many hearts and will continue to do so but we are so glad she was there for our day especially.

Susan was confident, organized, and efficient from start to finish. She was prompt on responding to all communications throughout the entire process. In the beginning, she painted a very vivid picture of how the ceremony would go. Once we booked her, she supplied us with an electronic copy of the ceremony trialogue, and allowed us to tailor it into our own. She offered to be at the rehearsal but said it wouldn't be necessary, and I agree with her. When the day came, she showed up and completed all needed pre-ceremony tasks with time to spare, and lead the ceremony without a hitch except the hitching of us;-).

Susan with beloved ceremony was our officiant. I can’t say enough about this one, because I knew that even though we were getting married in a elopement ceremony just us, I wanted it to be centered on us and our relationship but also our family, and our children! We attended a wedding officiated by Susan in 2015 and were so touched by her words as soon as we were engaged a month later, we knew we wanted her inspiration and guidance at our own wedding.

She understood us within a short conversation and was making recommendations that added so much more to our ceremony. After 25 years together Jim and I have our own language which Susan worked into with such ease that it was magical. Susan is truly a blessing! Our ceremony was perfect! We cannot thank her enough!

Susan was great! She officiated our ceremony on 9/30/17 out at Addison Farms Vineyard. Since we are not very religious, she adjusted the wording and different passages that she felt would work best for our ceremony. Susan is also always available to you if you have any questions or needs you may have and will go through the ceremony on the phone with you. Susan Marlan didn't just officiate our wedding, she made our wedding all it was. She is a natural wordsmith who wove our love and personalities into a story. Susan officiated our wedding on August 26th, 2017. We were looking for someone who could be very "official" but would also be open to incorporating our own personalities and preferences into our ceremony- and Susan was perfect for us! She was great to work with- very professional, responsive, kind, and flexible! We had several traditions that we wanted to work into our ceremony, as well as our own twist on readings, vows, etc- and she was extremely open- our ceremony was just as unique and personal as we'd hoped! We contacted Susan during our search for an officiant. We weren't even sure exactly sure what we wanted, but she guided us through the ceremony and asked many questions about what we would like to do. After the first call, we were sure she was the officiant for us. Susan made our ceremony truly special. It is hard not to get caught up in the party aspect of the wedding, but the ceremony and the marriage is the most important part. Her ceremony was beautiful, and it truly felt personal to us and our love. She offers a ton of customization so that it can fit what you are looking for. We opted for a love letter box and her presentation of it was one of the most beautiful I have ever heard. We received a ton of compliments on the ceremony and Susan was a pleasure to work with.

We had so many compliments about Susan from our wedding guests!! Even though we had never met Susan in person and only had a few phone calls prior to our big day, our ceremony felt personal and flowed perfectly. During the planning process, she was extremely helpful in giving us ideas of elements we could include for our ceremony and accomodated all of our requests. Susan married us on quite short notice and I really couldn't have dreamed of a more perfect little ceremony! She met with us just before the ceremony to go over the sections and took care to ask us what we would like to in/exclude making it exactly what we were looking for. Susan was amazing! We had a medieval wedding and she did her best to fit in which I appreciate. She was very patient as we were running very late. When my husband and I began planning our wedding, we agreed it was imperative that our officiant be kind, well-spoken, and happy to perform a non-denominational ceremony. Susan was our first choice, and we are soooo incredibly pleased with our decision. Her ceremony was eloquent and romantic, and included all of the personal touches we wanted, and her delivery was comfortable and clear (despite the chilly weather & wind!!). It was very obvious to us and our guests that she's been doing this a long time, and we had several guests remark how much they enjoyed her reading. Prior to the wedding, we had one miscommunication about the ceremony time (which could have been my fault, to be honest), but she handled it very professionally and was able to work everything out without us having to make any changes. I would absolutely recommend Susan for both religious and non-religious ceremonies!!

What we loved most was that we got to include personal touches so that our guests got a chance to hear our love story. Ms. Marlin was very responsive and in tune with our needs and wants of our ceremony. When my significant other and I were searching for an officiant, we were looking for someone who would be open-minded and experienced. Susan is exactly that, and more. After our initial contact we set up a Skype-meeting (because we live in a different state) in which we explained what we were looking for, to which she added ideas of her own. By the end of our meeting, she briefly read a draft of the words she would say during our ceremony, and we were on the verge of tears, it was so perfect.
Aside from knowing exactly what to say and how, Susan is also very flexible: she told us a number of times that it would be no problem to change the wording of something, or leave something out, just before the ceremony. Since there is already a lot going on on the wedding day itself, it's great to know that should something change in the ceremony, it won't be a big deal.
Finally, Susan is just a very easy person to work with: welcoming, friendly, and open-minded. Several family members commented afterwards how nice she was and what a great fit she was for our wedding. Can't recommend her enough!

When Kim and I decided to have our wedding out of town, we were concerned about finding the right person to handle the ceremony. As soon as I found Susan's website, our concerns faded. Susan was so lovely to work with, she knew how to guide us even when we were not sure what questions to ask. Absolutely loved the way Susan did our ceremony. We would, without hesitation, recommend Susan to anyone looking for a personalized wedding ceremony experience. She is undoubtedly gifted at her work! After spending ample time searching for the "one", we contacted Susan. She responded quickly to discuss our ceremony line by line, word by word. In the beginning, we really did not know where to start and I was impressed by Susan's recommendations for our ceremony based on our life and our beliefs, but which was also respectful of the guests that would be attending. I especially appreciated the recommendations she made regarding the flow of our ceremony. We ended up incorporating a sand exchange which I originally thought was too trendy and a passing fad. However, being that we met in Florida, we were able to collect sand from the beach in the city where we met and used it in the ceremony. It was simply perfect and totally "us". I had numerous family members and friends approach me and say how impressed they were with the ceremony and that they could tell it was carefully planned. Susan was absolutely critical to the success of our wedding and we cannot thank her enough!

I couldn't have asked for a better ceremony. Susan was very professional and friendly and she spoke with us early on before the ceremony to make sure all our wishes were granted and what we wanted to say and what we didn't want to say. We are not a religious couple, and she was completely open and understanding to that. I was so nervous that we would be judged for it, but Susan made us comfortable and she truly shows how much our ceremony meant to her. My husband and I do not like to be the center of attention, but the words that were spoken put us at ease and we couldn't have been happier with how our ceremony went. I highly recommend Susan for any ceremony you need regardless of your beliefs. She has a big open heart and she truly makes you feel special.

Susan was amazing! I had always thought of the ceremony as a necessary evil to get through so you could get to the fun part of the wedding and I was also rather nervous because our families are a mixed crowd in terms of religious beliefs so I felt that it was impossible for everyone to be comfortable. I was totally wrong on both counts. Everyone talked about how lovely and moving the ceremony was and looking back on the wedding, it was my favourite part. She did a wonderful job (even over the phone, since we live in California!) of capturing the essence of who we are and what our lives mean to each other, and she found wonderful solutions to all of the potentially awkward sections that made everyone comfortable. I would absolutely recommend her to anyone!
