Best wedding photographer ever!

Jody was amazing--her photography brilliantly and beautifully captured the intimacy, the joy and the magic of our special day. She understood what we wanted and hoped for, and she exceeded our wildest expectations. From the moment we first interacted, we got a special feeling about Jody.
She asked good questions, adapted to our needs, was incredibly responsive to any questions we had, and came through beautifully.
Given the quality of her work, I was amazed at modest her pricing was. And her turnaround time was unbelievable! Truly, we can't imagine any other photographer doing a better job. We highly, highly, highly recommend Jody!

Jody was so collaborative and wonderful when photographing our wedding. She worked with us to help find a package that fit our financial needs and was so responsive as questions came up throughout the process. She took time to meet with us and provide advice about the day-of, and had us over to her house for a slideshow to view the final product. Could not recommend her more readily!!

Jody's photos are amazing - she made everyone look good from the 2 year old to the 97 year old. She captured the spirit and happiness of our event. She was responsive and we received photos the next day to remind us of a great night - and the final album is gorgeous.

It was an absolute pleasure to work with Jody. I planned a surprise trip across the country to San Francisco for myself and my partner of 12 years to get married and she was there every step of the way giving me information about scenery and also providing some information for places to see while we were there. She listened to my needs and went above and beyond to meet them. By the time the months of planning was over and the big day had arrived, I felt like we were old friends. She checked in with us throughout the day to make sure we were getting the shots we desired and she kept our expectations in order by advising us on timing and the best way to maximize the shots we wanted. The pictures were amazing and she delivered on her promises timely. She captured a very important day for us and we'd use her over and over for all of our events if we lived in San Francisco!!! A++++

How to describe Jody...In a word she was our "dream come true" photographer. We couldn't be happier with Jody's work, both during the wedding, and in terms of the end product. On the wedding day, Jody was professional yet warm, thoughtful, amenable to requests, she absolutely never interfered or was intrusive, and was a calming presence. She has a wonderful ability to put you at ease and bring a smile to your face. Her wonderful attitude certainly added to the day, and it's very clear that she has a great deal of experience and is an expert at her trade. And to top it off, she took beautiful pictures that I will enjoy for the rest of my life. I'm sure there are many options out there, but we could not recommend Jody any more - she's just the complete package and of exceptional character.

5 key elements to what I was looking for in an engagement photographer:

1) Expertise: Premier skill and equipment and editing
2) Communication: Ability to directly convey (kindly but with authority) how the shots should be taken
3) Comfortable: to make my fiance feel comfortable during the photo shoot
4) Focused: No 3 hour photo session - understanding that the entire experience can be made better if it is focused and kept under 2 hours
5) Attentive to any and all requests in the editing stage

Jody was all of these characteristics. She knows the city of San Francisco and knows where to go for photo shoots depending on the time of the year and the time of the day. We met Jody at the Gardens and spent a few hours laughing and just being ourselves. She immediately makes you feel comfortable and the time flew by. She was sure to ask Jane all about what she wanted but also offered advice on what has worked in the past based on our profiles, skin types and location. We had an amazing array of close-ups and panoramic shots. Her suggestion of taking photos in the bamboo shoots was an amazing one as those photos were spectacular. The follow-up took a couple weeks but we are more than impressed and shared the photos with family and friends.

I couldn't recommend Jody enough. Amazing photos, very comfortable during the shoot and very attentive to the needs of my fiance both during and after the photoshoot.

We found Jody on the internet and dropped her an email to inquire about her availability and willingness to take pictures of our wedding. We needed just a few hours, not the full package. She promptly replied that she would be interested. We arranged to meet, and without any pressure, we readily signed a contract. She showed up on time (actually early!), was very gracious and professional. She was personable, yet she was so unobtrusive, that we hardly knew she was there! The pictures were great, some spectacular. After the event, we received the pictures as planned. We have just great words for Jody, and we will recommend her to anyone wanting a personable and skilled photographer for an event.

Jody did an amazing job as a photographer – being a same sex couple from the moment that we met with Jody she embraced us as a couple and did not think the idea of a same-sex wedding was odd or unusual. The day of our special event she exceeded our expectations but getting truly candid shots and we did not even realize she was there – then meeting with her afterwards in her amazing home studio to see her work, it just left us speechless – all for a very reasonable price. Jody is the most amazing wedding photographer EVER. There were so many incredible pictures – too many to choose from so we ordered them all! Our pictures were truly pieces of art, not just photos. Jody was very professional and walked through what was important to us before the wedding so she was sure to capture all the shots we wanted. She was great with the parents and grandparents. So many of my friends have said to me “I wish I knew your photographer when we got married, she did such an unbelievable job”. Her photojournalist style captured our love in every picture and documented the joy in our family and friends who celebrated with us.

We did a lot of research before selecting our photographer, and Jody met every requirement we came up with. She understood our vision, and captured the spirit of each moment perfectly. She was fun and relaxed, and blended into the mix of people so that we really didn't notice having our picture taken constantly. Every single shot was included in our package, so we could immediately upload our favorites to share with friends and family. She also gave us gifts (I won't spoil the surprise and say what) that allowed us to have beautiful hard copies of some of the best shots before we make up our minds (which is going to take a long time). Highly recommend.

#1 She made me look good in our photo's which is most important.
#2 She made my partner look great which is important.
#3 She had a lot of great ideas in regards to scenery where we had the photo shoot. These great ideas came across in the final photo's.
#4 She is professional, but more importantly easy to get along with which put me at ease...this too came across in the final product.
#5 Quick turn around on finished product...no one wants to wait!

We worked with Jody for our engagement photos. From beginning to end she was professional, fun, energetic and knew her stuff! We wanted the photos to be outdoors in Tilden Park in Berkeley. She was willing to travel to us and met us in the Park. From there we explored the area for the best options. Jody was patient and got us to be relaxed and ourselves - which really came through in the photos. It was nice because she showed us the shots as we went along - so we could change thigns up if we wanted. In less than a week we received a CD of all our photos in a the mail - both raw photos and the touched up ones. I would highly recommend Jody to any potential customer!

Jody is a born natural with the camera: So much that you would hardly know she is shooting. Yet her pictures always tell a great story because she somehow finds the perfect moment, the perfect light, at the right time. We had the incredibly great fortune to have Jody Holman as our wedding photographer. Our photos turned out to be the best wedding pictures I've ever seen, and our guests thought so too! She captured every emotion of our day, from very personal moments between me and my husband to precious candids of friends and family.

She seems to have the ability to capture souls with her art. Sometimes, as the bride or groom, you miss how everyone else experienced the event but Jody got it all for us and after seeing the photos, we had a totally new perspective on one of the best days of our lives.

She has a great way of making you feel at ease and open up for portraits and during the action, she becomes stealth-like. I barely saw her but I know she was there because I have a beautiful wedding album full of memories to prove it.

We have nothing but wonderful things to say about Jody! She is so much more than an amazing photographer. You can see by her images that she has talent and style. What really makes her special is her ability to listen to what her clients want and execute their vision while making them feel at ease with the process. While we initially hired Jody as our wedding photographer in 2006, she has since become our family photographer and friend. Over the last five years, she has repeatedly captured amazing images of my husband and I as well as our children. Jody is tremendously talented and simply a pleasure to work with. We were married in the woods and she readily adapted to all settings--live bands and dancing to serene moments of joy and reflection-- as well as to a host of children in motion. Her photographs were not only beautiful, but told a magical story which enhances our memories. Jody's presence was amazing and never intrusive. She had the gift of being in the right place at the right time without us noticing! In addition, by the end of all events, our guests wanted to be friends with her too!
