The Best Bay Area Photographer Ever!
Duy is an exceptionally talented wedding photographer, and we could not be more thrilled with our experience. He previously photographed my sister’s wedding and one of my close friend’s weddings, and from the moment I saw their photos, I knew I loved his work.
From start to finish, Duy exceeded all of our expectations. The photos are absolutely stunning and capture the day so beautifully that it truly feels like reliving each moment all over again. His ability to bring emotion, movement, and storytelling to life through his images is extraordinary.

We worked with Duy for our engagement session and our micro wedding ceremony at the Legion of Honor. The experience was beyond anything we expected.
He took time to understand us. He noticed our natural movements, our personalities, and the energy of the spaces. During the ceremony, he captured moments quietly and candidly. During portraits, he gave clear and gentle direction that helped us feel confident. We had no photography experience at all, and he guided us in a way that felt easy and comfortable.
He delivered our engagement photos and wedding teasers/full gallery very quickly. Since our wedding was a micro ceremony with only our immediate families, sharing the images with friends and loved ones has been so meaningful.
The results are stunning. The photos have depth, feeling, and a sense of place. You can see how carefully he composes each scene without ever interrupting the flow of the day.

We booked Duy for the 10-hour wedding package, which included our engagement shoot, and he was absolutely amazing. My husband and I are usually awkward in front of the camera, but Duy made us feel so comfortable — our photos turned out beautiful! On the wedding day, he was with us from the first look through the end of the night, always friendly, calm, and easy to talk to. The group photos after the ceremony were super efficient thanks to his assistant calling out all the names — we were even ahead of schedule and had time to take more photos around the ceremony site before heading to the reception. Duy also went above and beyond to capture shots I really wanted, like with our floral arch, and they turned out beautifully artistic. He’s super responsive, and even the preview photos we’ve received are stunning — we can’t wait for the full set and our album! -

Duy photographed our wedding and we had such a fun timing shooting with him! Our photos came out so unbelievably amazing that we couldn’t even choose our favorite because they were all so perfect. What we didn’t realize until working with him was just how invaluable his demeanor would be.
Duy is the perfect balance of professional and easygoing. He brings a calm, empathetic presence that put us at ease from our engagement shoot to the big day itself. We had a couple of scheduling hiccups while getting ready, but Duy handled it all with grace – seamlessly pivoting to make sure we still got every single shot on our wish list. I cannot recommend Duy Ho and his team enough! From the moment we saw his work he was on the top of our list of photographers. My husband and I didn't just want someone who could get great shots of us as a couple, but someone who could really capture the entire day and all of those who were a part of it. Duy captured all the shots we wanted and so many more. He was very generous with his time, answering all our questions and making himself available to meet with us. He helped us hone in on our timeline to ensure we got all the shots we wanted in each location we had celebrations at through the day and his work so beautifully captured our wedding. At moments we had ideas of where we might want to stage family portraits but needed his help and his eye for architecture found us the exact right spot, he lead us and our HUGE family through rounds of portraits with great ease. His team worked seamlessly with our other vendors and they were very kind and helpful throughout the day. When we got our teasers and photos back we were absolutely BLOWN AWAY. There's so much intimacy in his style of shooting, something we knew we wanted captured. His eye for capturing moments ensured we had photos as my husband offered a prayer at the end of our ceremony, Duy caught the moment the doors of the church opened and I saw my husband for the first time, he got my maid of honor staring at me lovingly as I got ready. The list of moments he captured goes on and on - as a bride the day swirls around so furiously and is over so quick, that to have such a skilled team preserve the day from so many angles I couldn't see is something I am so grateful for. We knew from the moment we saw his work that he would capture the day in the way we hoped, and he absolutely delivered. His photographs of our wedding are so honest they bring us back to the emotions of the day every time we open our gallery. We are so, so, SO happy we chose Duy as our wedding photographer! We were looking for cinematic, emotional, beautiful images, and boy oh boy did he deliver. He made us feel super comfortable in front of the camera, and captured our personalities perfectly. He has an amazing eye, not just for composition of a frame but for capturing the emotion of the day as well. He also really paid attention to the things that were important to us on our wedding day. For example, we had four 90+ year-olds (one was 99!) at the wedding, and it was very important to us to have great photos of our elders at the wedding. Duy captured some really beautiful images of our grandparents that we will cherish forever, in addition to serving us some absolutely FIRE couples portraits/candids of our guests/etc. He also brought on a second shooter for part of the day who absolutely crushed her shots, too.
Duy is also wonderful to work with on the day – he brings an energy that is professional, calming, fun and positive. We had a blast with him. Also, he delivered our sneaks SO FAST?!?! I was amazed. And our full gallery arrived sooner than expected, too. We were super impressed.
If you’re looking for a luxury-style photographer to deliver incredibly high-end images in addition to being a fun, positive collaborator, look no farther than Duy! Wish we could relive the day but are SO happy we have these stunning, Vogue-quality images to look back on forever!!

NYTimes quality wedding photographer
Everyone can claim to be a photographer now, especially since we all carry a camera around via our smartphones. But not everyone can claim to be a good photographer or has an eye for detail which Duy Ho definitely has. If you are an avid reader of the NYTimes wedding section, which I have been for years, there is a certain style of photography that catches your eye - they are subtle, but magical, ie..couple sneaking glances at one another, a teary eyed father-of-the-bride, a nervous ring bearer, etc…- Duy Ho’s photographs embody that style. I have been in advertising and marketing in SF, NY and LA for close to 30 years and have a strong appreciation and pretty high standards for creative work. So when it came to hiring a photographer for our wedding, I took the task of finding a good photographer very seriously. I scoured through tons of wedding photographers' portfolios in the Bay Area and can honestly say, there isn’t even a close second. So when Duy told me he was available for our September 29th wedding, I didn’t even hesitate to book him and sure enough, my instincts were right, he was amazing. We have shared our wedding photos with many of our friends and family and they all have said the same thing about Duy’s photographs. They all love the small details, the lighting quality and how he was able to capture emotions in his journalistic photos. We've had people tell us our photos could be on the cover of a magazine and two people, one a New Yorker, told us our wedding photos belong in the NYTimes. Aside from his eye for detail, he was also a joy to work with. He was professional from beginning to end. We had two meetings with him prior to our wedding. The first one was to go over what to expect from him and the second meeting was to go over the wedding timeline and what types of photos we would like him to capture, besides the journalistic ones, any formal portraits or anything that would be important on that day. You can tell a lot about his work not just by looking at his portfolio, but also his instagram posts. He seems to keep it pretty current, so you can get a good idea of lighting quality based on the time of year the wedding is taking place. It is obvious he takes pride in his work and is truly passionate about it. I couldn’t recommend Duy enough. And yes, I will be submitting our love story to the NYTimes, especially since we have a large amount of amazing photos to choose from, thanks to Duy. -

Duy photographed my August 2023 wedding, and his artistic sense and professionalism were phenomenal!
Initially, his portfolio stood out to me due to his excellent composition and editing style. Compared to a lot of other "photographers" out there, Duy has full mastery over the fundamentals – from how he frames his subjects, to his usage of space, the stories that the photos tell, and more. He doesn't take weird photos of the bride's behind or random photos with no space above one's head; his photos all make you look and feel good! :) His editing style is also very natural – no over saturated colors, no fake noir style graininess – so your wedding will preserved exactly as it was.
During the planning phase, he was very proactive in reaching out to us and going through all the details of our schedule – enumerating all the formal portraits, when each portrait session would happen, what events needed to be documented when, etc. The day of, everything was executed as planned. He was always there when things were happening, never intrusive but always ready.
So in summary, Duy takes wonderful photos, is very professional, and you should totally book him :) -

Duy Ho is hands-down the best wedding photographer! He captured our day perfectly, from super special moments like our first look and ceremony, to the details throughout the venue, to the priceless candid photos of our nearest and dearest having fun and dancing the night away.
We actually connected with Duy before hiring him when we were deciding between two venues in San Francisco and saw that Duy had photographed weddings at both. He was super responsive and gave us objective and helpful information to consider, which really helped us to make a decision.
After choosing our venue, we were thrilled to see Duy on the preferred vendor list. Of course, we did our due diligence by chatting with all of the other preferred photographers, but Duy stood out to us on an artistic, professional, and personal level. We love his style of photography and wanted to work with a photographer who was already familiar with our venue. We also preferred working with an individual photographer, rather than with a larger company, to have that personal touch, and Duy made us feel heard and like we would be well-taken care of.
Everything was smooth sailing once we hired Duy. He continued to be lightning-quick to answer our millions of questions. As we were finalizing our day-of timeline, Duy was very open to our ideas and also provided extremely helpful feedback and suggestions to make our timeline as efficient and easy as possible. For example, my husband and I both wanted portraits of our extended families, which are large (like, 20+ people on each of our parents' sides), in addition to the wedding party and immediate family portraits (also not small). Given our venue's very strict time and space constraints, Duy helped us brainstorm different scenarios to make sure that we got all of those shots. Duy absolutely nailed it, thanks to a lot of flexibility and creative maneuvering on his part. Additionally, Duy's calm demeanor helped us to relax and really enjoy every moment of the day.
My husband and I have been swooning over all of our wedding photos and it has been so much fun sharing them with our family and friends. I think we will all be looking and relooking at these photos for a long time, thanks to Duy! -

We were initially impressed by Duy’s aesthetic and style from looking at the examples of his work on his website. He is experienced and knows exactly what he is doing, fading into the background to get his shots. He captured so many wonderful small moments during the preparation and the important moments during the ceremony, as well as posed shots. He made the most of the setting, knowing exactly how to position us to get the nicest shots. Duy provided photos that truly captured the most important parts of our elopement and our family. We cannot be happier with having Duy as our wedding and tea ceremony photographer. Duy made the whole process so easy from beginning to end. Before our wedding day, Duy met with us to go over exactly what our plans were and what we were looking for. Duy and his team were punctual and professional for all our events. Simply put, we felt so comfortable during our wedding events and had so much fun with Duy. He even laughed at our nervous corny jokes. For many, the most important aspect of hiring a wedding photographer is the photos. Duy delivered work product that went above and beyond our expectations, both in terms of quality and quantity. He gave us so many photos that were all edited to perfection. Both posed photographs and candid photographs were shot so well by Duy. One thing we were hesitant with Duy about was his ability to corral our families for group portraits since he is on the quieter side. But every group photo has everyone smiling and perfectly position. The day was a blur so we aren't sure how he was able to make it all happen. All of our family and friends have complemented us on the photos. We also booked a wedding video with Duy and it is wonderful. Our parents have it on a loop on their TVs. We can't recommend Duy enough! -

As a groom, I was very unfamiliar with the world of wedding photography. My wife and I reviewed close to a dozen portfolios of photographers in the Bay Area, and every one had something missing. Some were too expensive, some didn’t have the eye we were looking for, and others didn’t even respond to our inquiries.
As we were beginning to get worried about finding a photographer, we came across Duy’s website and were instantly captivated. His work had an authenticity about it that we hadn’t seen with other vendors, so we knew we had to talk to him. It was the best decision we made for our wedding.
Duy spent 3 hours with us in downtown San Francisco doing an engagement shoot, which was key to getting us comfortable with his style and being photographed generally. We felt immensely at ease and very “in the moment” — we had locations in mind but the shots and poses were spontaneous, dictated by the conditions and our chemistry.
For the wedding, Duy and his assistant were consummate professionals. They coordinated with our wedding planner and other vendors, kept on schedule (timelines are crucial!), and captured our day perfectly. We never felt rushed or overly produced, but his experience and attention to detail were evident that day. The shots turned out better than I could have imagined, and were truly unique to who my wife and I are as a couple.
I recommend Duy to all my friends who are looking for a photographer, and make the same recommendation to whoever is reading this review. You won’t regret it! -

Booking Duy as our wedding photographer was one of the best decisions we made. If you are considering him, do it - I promise you won't regret it!!!
When we first found Duy, we were drawn to his ability to balance authenticity, sophistication, life, and drama in his shots. Rather than being heavy-handed with color correction and wedding photo trends, Duy allows the moment and the people shine through. Working with him day-of was fantastic; not only did we receive several comments from our family and friends about how he put them at ease, but he also made several decisions on the fly based on the weather. After the wedding, he delivered several previews in just a few days....and we were absolutely floored. Like, literally screaming. We are so thankful to be able to look back on this beautiful day through his lens. -

I am so glad that we ended up working with Duy to shoot for our wedding day.
First impression: Duy replied to our inquiries and follow up emails super fast. In the entire preparation process, Duy is super helpful in answering all our questions. Besides, he never hesitate to offer great tips as we have zero experience planning or shooting for wedding (probably true for most people :P)
About two weeks before the wedding date, we also met up online one more time to discuss the particular site we will be shooting wedding party photos in. Duy offered professional suggestions as to what time of the day is the best, and explained how circumstances could change the lighting, to give us the right expectations for the photos coming out.
I am most impressed with our 8hrs experience with Duy on the wedding day. We have a couple of separate locations to shoot for, first at a home to do make up, and then to an outdoor site for wedding party photos, and finally to the church for ceremony and reception. It was hectic as various things flew around: waiting for people, finding the angle with the best lighting, coordinate order of shots, etc. In the entire process, Duy and his assistant were super patient. We were free to express our ideas for shots, and they tried to capture all I requested (various wedding details, my nails, my lovely dessert station, photos with more motions, etc). They are super chill to work with, which reduced our anxiety. Thanks to Duy's professionalism and experience, each time I ran through the upcoming items with Duy and after getting his OK, I felt confidence and peace that things would go well.
At the venue, all of us are so nervous doing our own thing, and I did not manage to tell Duy anything about what to shoot for, but he captured all the details that I could ever ask for. Since I DIYed every single piece of detail for my wedding, I am so glad that they captured those things and kept a good memory for us.
Duy is the type of photographer that would feel invisible as we focused on the event, but when you need him he will show up promptly;
In general, our of all the 5-star photographers you can find on wedding wire, it is really hard to compare. Eventually it is a matter of whether the style clicks with you. Duy's photos keep the natural, authentic moment of the event. They are easy to serve as a time machine for you to recall what happened on that big day. One thing I noticed was that Duy is very good at capturing strong emotions. While we have video recording, we actually felt stronger when seeing Duy's photos of the same moments. So if this is something you value, I'd definitely recommend Duy. I talked/worked with some other photographers whose style would be more artistic. They tend to give you more suggestions before the shooting about some details such as dresses/color of hair, etc. Their photos also come with more post-editing. I love both, and I tried to align our expectation when working with different styles of photographers. Hope this review helps you find the right photographer for your wedding! -

My husband and I were planning to get married May 2020, but ended up having to postpone twice due to the pandemic and just trying to find a better time where everyone could gather more safely. We ended up finally getting married in May 2021. Our wedding took place outdoors in Joshua Tree at a private property.
I have had the privilege of working with Duy in the past before he was my wedding photographer, so I already trusted him immensely. Seeing Duy's wedding photography over the years, and being floored with every gallery he delivered for the art events we both worked together on, I knew I wanted him to shoot my wedding when the time came. Duy's attention to detail is like none other, and if you're looking for a unique non-generic wedding photographer then Duy is your dude. What I always loved about his work was that each photo evokes strong emotion and collectively his work tells the story of the people that come together at the events/ weddings with a docu style approach. Also, my husband and I both being SUPER awkward in front of the camera never concerned me because Duy is SO good at what he does that he can capture any socially awkward couple and make them look like freaking supermodels.
Duy is punctual, flexible, has strong attention to detail, knows how to prompt genuine reactions and poses, and holds himself at a professional standard that is so hard to find these days.
He is brilliant at shooting in bright lighting AND dark/ limited lighting venues. He always has great communication with his couples which is so helpful, especially when you are the bride and the event planner. I actually never provided him with any list, because he just gets it. He doesn't need to be micromanaged because he truly is the best at what he does. He is a storyteller and captures moments and details beautifully. I will treasure the photos from our wedding so much because I have a terrible memory, but when I took at my photos I remember every single detail and moment of the day exactly as it happened. And I think that is just something really special.
Thank you Duy, you are truly one of the best wedding photographers/ photographers/ artists I have ever met and we are lucky to have had you document our big day. Bonus that you're our friend as well. -

Highly Recommended!
After selecting an absolutely gorgeous wedding venue, we knew that our number one priority was finding a talented photographer who would be able to capture the beauty of the venue and as well as all of the special moments on our big day. We knew just from scrolling through Duy's portfolio that his photography style, which was full of energy and vibrant colors, was exactly what we were looking for. Duy was extremely responsive via email and was so flexible when we had to alter our plans after the pandemic hit. He was easy to communicate with and put us at ease with his calm demeanor. My husband and I aren't used to being in front the lens of a professional photographer, but Duy was so patient with us and somehow managed to turn all of our awkward giggles into works of art. That's true talent! He and his second shooter were never obtrusive on our wedding day and were able to capture so many moments that I didn't even realize they were there for. When the coronavirus pandemic upended our wedding plans, my partner and I decided to still get married. Since we didn’t take engagement photos, I really wanted to take photos on the day-of our wedding. The photographer that we hired for our wedding lives outside of the Bay Area so that wasn’t an option for us. I came across Duy’s photography back in 2018 on instagram and I really appreciated the aesthetics of his photos. After we had the initial phone conversation with Duy, we knew we wanted to use him.
Duy was incredibly flexible, we wanted to take portraits in the morning to capture the right lighting and then he came back that evening during our ZOOM ceremony. Since our ceremony was 100% remote and in our living room (not the most beautifully decorated) I wasn’t sure how the photos would turn out but when I first saw the teasers, my heart bursted with love. He captured every emotion: the nervousness as we said our vows, the love after our first kiss and our parents faces as they beamed with joy.
Duy was able to capture such a historical moment, not just for us but for generations to come. Our children will be able to look at our photos and know immediately that we got married in 2020 during the COVID-19 pandemic. It takes a real artist to capture the emotion and essence of a ceremony in such a unique setting with no friends and family in attendance, other than via zoom, and at a venue (our condo) a fraction of the size of any reception. I was a bit heartbroken that our families were hundreds of miles away and separated by borders that are indefinitely closed but these photos brought us together. -

Duy is such a nice guy and a very talented photographer! We were so lucky to have found him in our search. Our wedding photography was obviously something that we researched intensively to find the right fit. I am not a fan of the bright, washed out, airy photos that a lot of photographers enjoy. I wanted something that was full of life and color and contrast. Duy's style was exactly that. We worked with him twice - once for our engagement shoot and again a year later for our Napa Valley wedding. Your wedding day goes by so fast. That’s why we knew having a great photographer was a top priority and investment. Duy and his assistant Jen captured every moment! Not only did we love every photo, they were able to capture the best candid shots and you could feel the emotions felt in each photo. We had the pleasure of working with Duy and his assistant for our wedding. When it came time to choose a wedding photographer, we did a ton of research and found a lot of great options, but never felt confident enough to make a decision. Then we found Duy, and My husband and I both agreed instantly that he was the photographer we wanted to work with. Because of him, we now have the most incredible photos to hold as memories and to hang on our walls. He was able to bring the emotion, the friendships and the love of our day to life. His work really speaks for itself. We are so incredibly happy with our decision to have Duy as our wedding photographer. There is simply no one I would have rather worked with. -

I've known Duy for many years, so I can speak as both a client and a friend. It makes sense that Duy is an amazing photographer; he is an incredibly talented artist, musician, and architect. He is also one of the most down to earth and cool people you will ever meet, a fact that helped to keep our wedding day as relaxed as possible.
Duy's photographs of our wedding day are absolutely stunning. He managed to capture all of the emotion and energy of the day in rich candid shots and gorgeous portraits, balancing a photojournalist's attention to people and an architect's awareness of place. Looking through our photos, we found everything from the glances my mom and dad exchanged during the ceremony to the way the sky and autumn colors framed our guests just before everything began.
I've been to weddings where photographers were divas and needed to be front and center. Duy was always right where he needed to be but just under the radar, happy to be borrowed to take a group shot or left to document the dance floor. He is absolutely professional.
In the craziness before our wedding, I didn't get a chance to show Duy around the site. There was no reason to worry, of course. He took a look around and identified perfect spots for photos with our wedding party, family, and for me and the husband. On the way back to the reception, he noticed the sun coming through the trees and stopped us for one last photo. People are still talking about it.
We are so fortunate to have had Duy with us on our wedding day. We have absolutely no regrets, and neither will you.
