I had no option but to use I-Do Cakes for my wedding cake through the Jekyll Resort and it was the worst experience I had with a vendor for my entire wedding. I asked for no fondant and was told to choose a design, so my Husband and I chose a simple ruffled piping design (pictured with flowers on top) and sent it through my wedding planner. I heard back that this was "too complicated" and the baker offered an EXTREMELY simple design that was nothing like my original choice. I asked if there was another way to do the ruffles, maybe in fondant even though I did not want fondant. I was then told it would cost $500 extra to have the ruffles in fondant. So instead of continuing to go through the venue planner, I attempted 3 times to reach out to the Baker directly with NO RESPONSE. I reached back out to my wedding planner and again asked if there was no way to do the ruffles and if maybe the baker could speak with me directly so I could work with her on an alternative design. I was then told it was taken care of and the baker would do the original cake I had chosen.
Fast-forward to my wedding day, where I walk into my reception to THAT. One of the most important details for my Husband was the cake, and we were both incredibly frustrated and disappointed that this is what was delivered. I was upset enough I begged my catering manager to just smooth out the icing as best he could because ANYTHING was better than what we received from this "professional" baker. It still upsets me how any professional baker would send someone a cake like this. I had family members asking if we did the cake ourselves it was so poorly done. I urge anyone considering this baker to go with someone else. Or if like me you're being forced to use them, DEMAND SOMEONE ELSE. This baker obviously doesn't care about her clients.
The picture with white flowers on top of the cake is what I asked for, the photo without a topper is what I received. They are NOTHING alike, and the lazily applied "ruffles" are absolutely disgraceful for a "professional" baker. I honestly still get upset when I look back on photos of my cake. This was easily the biggest disappointment of my wedding, my year, quite possibly my life so far. If there was one thing I could have changed, I would have NEVER allowed this baker to make this integral part of my Wedding Day. -
