Wonderful Cake and Experience

There are wedding cakes, and then there is City Sweets. Working with Deborah was like working with a close friend who genuinely wanted to make sure we chose the cake of our dreams in both vision and taste.

As someone who chooses her dessert before choosing her main course, our wedding cake was extremely important to me in every aspect, and City Sweets went beyond my expectations. We chose two flavors (coconut cake with dark chocolate ganache & Champagne cake with three berry filling) and could not get enough of either! I am not typically a fan of fondant, but Debra uses an imported type that tasted light and “marshmallowy”, instead of that heavy plastic that people usually scrape off to the side!

The design of our cake was stunning. I wanted a Winter theme and my husband had an aversion to flowers--in stepped Deborah with the creation of delicate cascading snowflakes. Our solid shimmery tiers alternated with her signature stamped design which made the cake look beautiful from every angle.

To say our cake was delicious and beautiful is an understatement. I’m actually looking forward to digging into the tier we saved for our 1-year anniversary and can't wait to work with Deborah in the future for other special occasions!

Superior Customer Service, Incredible Attention to Detail!

Deborah, the owner of City Sweets by far understands customer service. I am an event planner who had a cake emergency with a wedding cake from another baker. I called Deborah, who never meet me before, for help! I was desperate for a new wedding cake in four hours. Deborah worked her magic and I had a cake we could proud present to the newlyweds at their ceremony. I highly recommend Deborah!

Most amazing wedding cake!!!!

Deborah is a genius baker. She made us the most elegant and flavorsome cake we could have wished for on our wedding day! All of our guests complemented us on the cake. During the tasting we weren't sure how we were going to pick between all of the wonderful flavors available, so Deborah made each level of our cake into a different flavor which turned out fantastically. Deborah is extremely kind and professional and an absolute joy to work with. I cannot recommend her enough!

Our cake from City Sweets was not only beautiful, but delicious as well! We had so many people tell us how delicious it was. Deborah makes planning the cake you want so easy, offering multiple flavor combinations, and you can completely customize each tier. I only wish I ate more of it on my wedding day, but look forward to celebrating with a slice on my anniversary! Thank you!!

My (now) husband and I are serious cake people. For example, on our first anniversary, we celebrated with three different kinds of cakes. Obviously, we wanted only the best for our wedding cake. We first tasted Deborah's cake at a friend's wedding, and knew we had to hire her for ours. Deborah is lovely, easy to work with, and her cakes are incredibly beautiful and seriously delicious! For our wedding last weekend, we chose three cakes in one: almond cake with chocolate frosting, chocolate cake with raspberry preserves, and peach cake with passionfruit frosting. It was delicious. So delicious, in fact, that there was none left over and now we need to order another cake for our next event (ok, the event may just be binge-watching Netflix, but it still calls for cake) because it was that good. We came to Deborah last minute because another baker couldnt fulfill our gluten free cake request. The cake was gorgeous and yummy!!!! Just one of the easiest experiences in the whole wedding process! And did I say the cake was YUMMY!!!!

In planning our NYC wedding from London, it was important to use that we had our cake provided by someone we could trust. We contacted multiple cake vendors and were lucky enough to land on City Sweets and Confections.

Deborah was fantastic to work with -- from the first call we had with her she was the best. She listened to our vision for the cake and provided helpful suggestions and ideas for what she could do to make it perfect.

But what about the tasting living overseas? Deborah took the time to provide us a tasting one week before our wedding, the day after we arrived in NYC, so we knew we would have the cake that we wanted. When disaster struck and we got caught in traffic going from the Bronx to Manhattan, and we were over an hour late to the tasting (getting on past 7pm), Deborah boxed up a number of the most popular cakes and creams for us to take back to our hotel and test at our leisure, letting us know she was available if we had any questions. It really felt like she went out of her way to make us happy and cared about our event.

We selected the delicious red velvet, and when we saw the cake at the event our jaws dropped. It was absolutely amazing. We received many compliments on how it looked, and tasted, and we look at the pictures now and still talk about how great it was. Deborah worked with our budget, was incredibly friendly, and we couldn't be more happy with how everything worked out. Thank you, Deborah!

Deborah was incredibly thoughtful from start to finish. Her cakes are delicious and our wedding guests loved her Prosecco cake with three berry filling. Additionally, I have a gluten allergy and tried many bakeries that are "known" for their gluten free cakes, but Deborah makes the best. Our guests had no idea! We attended another wedding a year later and her cake was again delicious. If you want a cake that is guaranteed to be delicious City Sweets & Confections is your place.

Deborah was wonderful to work with and is truly an artist when it comes to creating cakes. She helped us design a stunning cake and using pictures of the lace on my dress, hand-piped every other layer to match it. The flowers on our cake looked so real and almost too beautiful to eat. Her cakes don't just look beautiful, they taste delicious! Deborah was helpful when choosing pairings and completely open to our ideas and suggestions. We loved working with her and highly recommend!

Deborah Lauren was an absolute delight to work with. She offered a wide array of styles for our wedding cake. Not only were they absolutely stunning, but they tasted INCREDIBLE as well. There were so many different cakes and icings - we could not go wrong. In the end, we chose a delicious funfetti cake with buttercream icing. That cake, WOW! When we needed a cake on somewhat short notice (about 2 weeks before our wedding), Deborah said she could do it and arranged a tasting for us on what happened to be a snowstorm that threatened to shut down the city. Not only didn't she cancel, but we stayed for hours having great conversation with her, and she was so responsive to our ideas and questions. The cake at the tasting was amazing and she lets you try a whole bunch of cake and frosting flavors when you go! We ended up with a beautiful 4-tier butter cream cake with 3 flavors (one extra tier for us to take home): Green tea/lemon frosting, Red Velvet/Mocha frosting, and Vanilla/peanut butter chocolate frosting. She is so professional and friendly and everyone raved about the taste of the cake and most people tried 2 or all 3 flavors! We can't wait to come back from our honeymoon and eat the tier we took home!

Deborah at City Sweets is fantastic! From the moment we spoke on the phone I knew that I wanted to hire her to create our wedding cake. At our initial meeting I brought 2-3 photos and Deborah took it from there. She offers unique flavors (champagne cake) and is a truly talented artist. Our cake was exquisite! Deborah was amazing! Not only was the cake PERFECT for my daughter but she was so professional from the moment I saw her website to all the times I spoke with her. The most notable of many great experiences was how willing she was to talk or communicate with me at all hours of the day. I'm sure she does not want to make a practice of that; but she took such care of getting every detail down of a vision my daughter wanted for her cake that she communicated at our convenience which was not always normal hours. City Sweets was by far the most professional and reliable vendor we have dealt with so far. Wonderful professional lady running this show.

Deborah is not only an amazing artist but such a sweetheart!! First of all, our wedding cake was delicious and a work of art!! She made all my dreams and crazy pinterest ideas come to life!! I couldn't stop staring at my cake during the reception and remember thinking, "I can't believe this gorgeous cake is ours!!". Ms. Deborah is a god send. From our first conversation on the phone I knew she was going to e my wedding cake designer. Deb Lauren at City Sweets is an amazing artist! Not only was our cake beautiful, but tasted great. Her flavor selections are the best. She uses only the best ingredients to flavor her cakes and fillings and it is evident when you taste them. We had 4 different layers and each was to die for. Champagne cake with berry filling, lemon cake with lemon filling, chocolate cake (like none other) with vanilla filling, and vanilla cake with vanilla filling. Every layer was so flavorful. Guests commented nonstop on how great the cake was. Would use her again in a heartbeat!!!

Deborah Lauren is fantastic. She was the first wedding cake vendor we saw and we fell in love right away. My husband and I are into a really unique blend of flavors and foods, so when we heard about the champagne cake, we knew we had to try it. Yeah, it's as good as it sounds, and with berry frosting in the middle, it's to die for! I wish I could preserve the cake top we have forever, but we don't even plan to wrap it and freeze it for our first anniversary, it's THAT good (we just may order another fresh one instead ;) ). The design of the cake was really beautiful as well, as Deborah took two of her previous designs and combined it into one--truly the work of an artist! I highly recommend City Sweets, and will definitely do business with her again!

The wedding cake was absolutely amazing - it was definitely a work of art! Deborah created a gorgeous five-tiered wedding cake for us with different flavors in alternating tiers. We received so many compliments on the taste and look of the cake. The cake was so moist and delicious - probably the best wedding cake I've had. We love the combo of green tea and chai tea flavored cakes. Also, the cake looked beautiful and fit our spring wedding theme so well! Deborah is fantastic! She was so accomodating, patient and helpful. She created a gorgeous three tiered cake, based on a Martha Stewart picture I gave her. Each tier had different flavors - that were all insane. She even let us come twice to taste since we loved every flavor and couldn't decide (hence three different flavors). She also created our favors, which were black and white cookies each individually wrapped and delicious. I went back to the venue the next day to get all the leftovers because it was all that delicious!!

My cake was GORGEOUS art. From the moment I met Deborah I knew she would not disappoint. We went with the champagne flavored cake with fresh strawberry and vanilla filling. I'm still getting compliments to this day on the taste and look of the cake. Can't wait to order my husband's Birthday cake very soon :) and to defrost our top tier in a year. Deborah is absolutely amazing. I changed the design multiple times (even two days before) and Deborah was nothing but a professional. She designed the most beautiful wedding cake ever imaginable. The cake was so beautiful in fact that no one thought it was real. The cake was so delicious that we are still beings asked today if there is any cake left (although my wedding was 2 weeks ago). The flavors we choose was Champagne with Strawberry and Almond with Vanills bean Mascapone. We can not wait for our 1 year anniversay to be able to taste her cake again (since we get a free top tier). I would definately recommend her. In fact I already gave her info to a few people that attended our wedding.

If you want your wedding to end on a sweet note, City Sweets is the best way to go. Deborah Lauren's cakes are amazing. If I could give her 6 stars, I would. Deborah was extremely helpful in our first tasting, provided a beautiful sketch reflecting the cake that we discussed after our meeting, and delivered the cake on our wedding day to our venue in stellar fashion. It was sculptural, and beautiful and the talk of the party. I'm still hearing about how delicious it was weeks after our wedding. Rarlely does a wedding cake taste as good as it looks, and my cake was over the top visually, and in yummyness. Deborah was extremely attentive to our needs, and simply a joy to work with. She was also probably the most stress-free part of the wedding planning process...after our initial consultation, I didn't worry one bit about the cake not turning out the way I envisioned. I recommend her to EVERYONE, hands down. -AMANICOR-

Getting our wedding cake from City Sweets was one of the best decisions we made for our wedding. Our cake was absolutely amazing. Not only was it the most beautiful thing I've ever seen, but it tasted unbelievable as well. Deborah is truly a cake genius, and the cake was definitely a work of art. Everybody loved the cake, and it looked so wonderful in the setting. Numerous people approached me during the night to tell me how beautiful it was.

Additionally, Deborah was so pleasant and flexible to work with.

I think I need to start finding new reasons to have cakes made.

Delicious. I had looked at a number of vendors, mostly concentrating on price and appearance because I assumed all wedding cakes would taste mediocre anyway. I'm so glad a wedding planner recommended Deborah. I was shocked at how good the cake tasted. It wasn't just good for a wedding cake - it might be the best cake I've had. I find myself craving it and thinking of an excuse to have some event that would necessitate my ordering another cake. Also, the cake looked good and the price was very reasonable. As a side note, I would trust her instincts. She suggested a flavor in my tasting that I didn't think I'd like and I ended up picking it. Ditto on the decorating. I didn't really know what I wanted so I just gave a general description. She ran with it and the cake looked beautiful.

Deborah created a delicious wedding cake that guests have been raving about. We continued to nibble on it on the days that followed. There were endless options for the cake and icing and it was difficult to choose between them because they were all fantastic. She produced exactly what we had in mind. I have already recommended her to friends.

Deborah from City Sweets made us the yummiest wedding cake I've ever tasted. She has such interesting flavors, from lavendar and mint chocolate and amazing basics too. She was able to do tiers of different flavors and made a wonderful design. Great sugar flower work and stenciling.

Deborah was really creative with the design and was able to do an amazing cake for a reasonable price. Even my mom was thrilled with it--a HUGE accomplishment!

Deborah Lauren is an absolute pleasure to work with! First of all, the wedding cake tastes delicious. We had a five tiered wedding cake with alternating layers of champagne flavored cake and chocolate cake. We highly recommend the champagne flavored cake. Her buttercream frosting and fondant are equally amazing. A group of guests seated at the same table were so impressed that they all asked for seconds! Second, Deborah takes the time to meet with you to go over a personalized design. We could not have been happier with how our cake looked -- a work of art! Deborah is the best!

Deborah made the most beautiful cake for our wedding last weekend. Design was perfect - including a ribbon border that perfectly matched my dress. And the cake was the best g-d cake ever. The flavors were pure - valhrona choc, vanilla bean, red velvet - super moist with delicous fondant over all. And she worked within our budget and was responsive and professional. Simply put, Deborah is amazing and makes the most delicious and beautiful cakes.

I worked with her to create a groom’s cake that would taste great and surprise my then fiancé. The taste was perfection – almond cake with triple berry frosting. The surprise… the cake was in the shape of Mr. Met’s head! My husband is a huge Mets fan and absolutely loved it. Needless to say, everyone at the rehearsal dinner was very impressed.

With our 1-year wedding anniversary quickly approaching, my husband and I began talking about the cake that we were supposed to eat. Typically you eat the top tier of your wedding cake. The only problem was that our groom’s cake was much better than our wedding cake. We thought it would be easier to just go with the venue’s wedding cake. In retrospect, that was silly, but I can’t worry about that now! What we can do is say goodbye to tradition and say hello to a re-creation of our groom’s cake. Tomorrow is our anniversary, and I’m so excited to relive the deliciousness! Thank you, Deborah!

My husband and I love cake and wanted our wedding to be something that people would remember! Deborah created a cake that was beyond our wildest dreams! Deborah from City Sweets was wonderful to work with. She made us an incredibly beautiful 4 tiered wedding cake for 150 people. Two of the layers had the design of our wedding invitation and well as beautiful flowers. The cake flavors we chose were strawberry cake with chocolate filling and chocolate cake with raspberry filling. The cake was the best wedding cake I have ever tasted in my life and it was definitely a piece of art. The flowers she created were not the colors we had discussed but in the end it was much prettier that way! Put your trust in Deb as she really is an artist. She also made us a groom's cake in the design of a tux and that cake was pistachio with chocolate filling. Delicious! You will only thank yourself for booking Deb - everyone is still talking about our cakes. She is also very affordable for the incredible quality she provides. I already can't wait until our 1 year anniversary as she has told us we didn't need to save our wedding cake top because she will give us a complimentary fresh one on our anniversary. We're so looking forward to that!

I'm not one to write reviews, but I thought it was appropriate in this case. Deborah was such a pleasure to work with and the cake was absolutely perfect! I approached Deborah with a pretty elaborate idea for the cake, yet we were also on a budget. She did not think twice and assured me she could pull it off - and she did! She surpassed all expectations. The cake was exactly what we wanted (it looked incredible in photographs) and tasted better than anyone ever imagined. All of our guests complimented us on the cake and wanted a second serving. In fact, someone even swiped the remaining slice that me and my husband left unattended on the table for one minute! We can't wait to have some cake again on our first anniversary which is coming up.
Thank you to Deborah for making it such an enjoyable process!

Deborah was wonderful from the beginning of the wedding cake process to the end. She worked with us to design a cake that was more beautiful that we could have ever imagined and fit perfectly with the whole decor of the wedding. She was so responsive with all of our questions and was a delight to work with.

The cake was DELICIOUS!! We received so many compliments on how beautiful it was and how great it tasted! It was one of the best cakes we ever had and are so excited to eat it again on our first anniversary.

Deborah was AMAZING! First, her cake flavors are out of this world creative and super delicious.

her decoration skills are classy and elegant.

And she is SUPER FLEXIBLE and AMAZING! My wedding happened the weekend of Hurricane Irene. And we had to change our wedding reception venue the day before the wedding because our original venue was on a yacht. So our new venue was in Morristown, NJ and Deborah actually baked ALL NIGHT so that they could deliver the cake to my reception hall since all the bridges and tunnels were shutting down at 12pm that Saturday.

So all in all, that kind of dedication cannot be bought. I love Deborah and her cakes and I thank her so much for working with us through the Hurricane!!!

The wedding cake was DELICIOUS! I generally thought that wedding cakes were a waste because they taste bad and no one eats it...until I had my own wedding cake from City Sweets. Our cake was a great price, fed 120 people and most importantly was so, so delicious. We had three cake flavors that Deb carefully helped us match to fillings and again, it was delicious! Don't waste your money on cakes that are 1-from bigger name bakers or 2-look really elaborate, but don't taste good...this is the way to go.

Deb from City Sweets made me a reall Oreo Wedding cake, with a delicious filling and a grooms cake of the world cup trophy that was a hit. We also had beautiful cupcakes made with gold fondent in different flavors. Everyone loves it and my guests took some home too.

Definitly make an appointment for a tasting. Your guests will remember how delicious your cake was :) at your wedding.

City Sweets provided both the Bride's cake and the Groom's cake for my Oct. 2008 wedding. I had very special qualification and expectations for both. I needed a great looking well-designed cake that was yummy, City Sweets accomplished both. Each tier of the Bride's cake was a different favor with handmade sugar flowers and the Groom's cake was shaped like a DJs turntable as a surprise to my husband. I requested a special order Key Lime filling and she delivered my request beautifully.

On our 1st Anniversary we thawed out the top tier of our wedding cake and believe it or not it was just a good it was the night of our wedding. Three years later my guests are still talking about Deborah’s amazing work. Her passion, attention to detail and professionalism are unsurpassed. Thank you for making my wedding so special!

The amazing wedding cake we got from City Sweets & Confections was a highlight of our wedding reception!! We wanted something elegant, romantic, beautiful and most of all, delicious. The cake we got went above and beyond all our expectations. In our first meeting, Deborah listened to us, got a feel for what we wanted and who we were and designed the cake to fit us. She made everything so easy that I didn't have any wedding planning anxiety over "the cake." At the reception, when I actually saw the cake, I was in awe - it was so beautiful and EVERYTHING we wanted! Then we tasted it... It was moist, and flavorful and perfect. Simply put: Deborah is amazing. Her cakes are gorgeously crafted pieces of art that are delectable to boot. Hiring her to do our wedding cake was one of the best decisions my husband and I ever made! Ours is a marriage of two cultures, and Deborah was able to capture that perfectly with our cake flavors (chocolate cinnamon tiers to represent the Mexican side, chai + pistachio tiers to represent Asian-ness). The cake itself was airy, moist, and flavorful without being overly sweet. People seriously pigged out on the cake -- our caterer said she'd never seen a wedding party devour a cake so ravenously.

In addition, Deborah very calmly agreed to put together 300+ black-and-white cookies for our black and white themed wedding with virtually no notice. Didn't even bat an eye, just got the job done.

Add to this Deborah's professionalism coupled with her warm spirit. . . endless patience. . . an amazing eye and attention to detail. . . this is so clearly a labor of love for her. You must hire her before she's booked for your wedding date!

As beautiful as our wedding cake was, it was even better to eat! Our first bite of Deborah's strawberry cake with vanilla mascarpone filling and vanilla frosting was a WOW moment. Several of our friends at the wedding asked where our cake came from and told us that it was the most delicious wedding cake they had ever tasted - my husband and I could not agree more! We found ourselves craving more of the cake after the wedding.

Deborah is exceptionally kind and thoughtful, as well as professional and extremely easy to work with. She helped us design a one-of-a-kind cake based on some photos we showed her, and was able to understand what we wanted before we were even able to articulate it ourselves. Deborah was also very careful and accommodating of my husband's severe nut allergy. We could not recommend her and City Sweets & Confections more highly!

City Sweets and Confections made the most beautiful birthday cake for my mother's surprise 75th birthday party. We had 30 guests and everyone was raving about the cake. Not only did it look beautiful (it was a work of art) but it tasted fantastic too. We had 3 layers and each flavor was more mouthwatering than the next. Deborah did a fantastic job on our wedding cake. We went back and forth about what design we wanted but Deborah was willing to provide numerous sketches of the cake. We also had a great tasting with her to determine the flavor of cake and filling. The final product was excellent and just as promised. She also baked three smaller cakes for us for birthdays of guests and a kosher-style sugar free cake for my husband's grandmother!! We heard many compliments from our guests about how good the wedding cake tasted unlike most wedding cakes that look good but don't blow you away on taste. The pricing was also very reasonable. We contacted many vendors who never responded to us. Those that did lacked any follow through. Deborah responded back to us promptly throughout the entire process. We knew immediately upon meeting Deborah at the first tasting that we would be hiring her to create our cake.

At the onset, we were willing to sacrifice aesthetics for taste…with Deborah we didn’t have to do that. Her samples at the tasting were mind blowing. As a UK based Bride to Be planning a NYC wedding, I found things fairly difficult at the beginning of my planning. However, finding vendors such as Deborah of City Sweets made things so much easier for me. From the very first email exchange Deborah was so helpful and nothing was too much trouble. She was full of ideas and suggestions and always willing try and incorporate my own ideas into something "do-able".

My now husband and I were totally blown away by our wedding cake, when we arrived at our Reception venue we were amazing at what a wonderful job Deborah had done. One word: Amazing. Two words: Book Her. Deborah was amazing very flexible and responsive in terms of flavors (ie we picked flavors that would be bad and she told me so! and i was very happy she did). Her design was perfect and exactly what her sketch looked like. And to top it all off i heard from at least half the guests that the cake was amazing (how often do you ever hear that at a wedding?). I was having a wedding on a budget and Deborah really made the cake affordable for us and tasty to boot. Do not waste any more time and book her before Oprah has her on the show and she becomes super fancy.

My fist meeting with Deborah, was great.. I took my matron and maid of hoor and we went for a tasting.. At this point i was not sure i was using Deborah, it was a feeling that i got when we met that i said when i left.. she is my cake ladie.
The flavors where the most outragously fabulous tasting cake we had ever had. Deborah was one of us. She just knew what I was looking for. The day of my wedding, was great needless to say, but when the cake arrived and they brought me in to see it, i got all chocked up! it was everything and more!
After we cut the cake, my guests didnt stop for days commenting on the wedding cake, number 1 how beautuful is was, andnumber 2 the taste and flavor... My husband is a chocolate / raspberry man and he said in all his years that he had never tasted anything that was so outragous, i knew then it was all good.

Deborah also made my guest tak home treats.... She made everything just a beautiful... If i were to make another party, she will be my first call..
Thank you Deborah again for the best cake we could have ever dreamed of having.

Words cannot describe how thankful we are to Deborah - the cake she created for us was absolutely beautiful and beyond delicious (our wedding ur guests are still commenting on it)..it was a truly glorious evening.

The design was literally exactly (!) what we envisioned. It was

I ordered my wedding cake from City Sweets and couldn't be happier about how everything turned out. First of all, Deborah is one of the sweetest and sincerest people I know and I could instantly tell that she really loves what she does. Having been to quite a few cake tastings, I instantly fell in love with the flavors that Deborah presented me with, especially the three berry mousse and the strawberry cake. Her red velvet is also the best I've ever tasted. I booked her on the spot because I was confident that she can deliver. I just had my wedding and was extatic by how everything turned out. The cake looked amazing AND tasted amazing. My guests are still raving. If you need a wedding cake or a special occasion cake, go to City Sweets, you will NOT be dissapointed. One of my favorite vendors!

Citysweets did our wedding cake one year ago and it was perfect (white cake, white icing, hazelnut filling, sqaure three-tiers.) We loved it and our guests loved it (they must have, we didnt have any left to take home with us for our 1 year anniversary!) I called citysweets to make identical cupcakes to help us celebrate. Citysweets did this for us and even shipped them a few states over! I surprised my husband with the cupcakes (he was touched) and they made our anniversary just a bit more special. We loved that we had time to savor our cake this time; its so hard to stop and appreciate everything on the actual wedding day. This time, we ate our cake and remembered our day and remembered how great it was to have our friends and family around us.
Thanks to citysweets for the delicious, lovely cake and the thoughtful follow-up to make our anniversary memorable.

Deborah is the most lovely person and a very talented baker. She provided us a cost effective cupcake tower for our wedding and everything was delicious. She is an amazingly nice person who is reliable and totally sweet. I felt so comfortable with her. We saw her on her wedding day and I couldn't help but give her a big hug. People are still talking about our cupcakes.

OMG! The cake that was created for our reception was truly awesome! It was pleasing to the eye and perfect for your taste buds. All of our guests asked us "Where did you get that cake?"

It was a pleasure working with Deborah. She was very sweet and caring during our tasting. She completely understood what we wanted and delivered 100%! I can't wait to have another event to order one of her cakes!!

I struggled to fill these oversized purple boxes I ordered for my wedding favors. I met Deborah through my DOC and felt the angels answered my prayers. Deborah's personality was very infectious and she offered plenty suggestions on how to fill the boxes. We setted on three mini cookies in different flavors, they were a HIT!!! Her cupcakes are to DIE FOR, our budget did not allow for both, but they are HIGHLY recommended. Deborah was professional throughout the order process til the perfectly wrapped cookies in cellophone were promptly delivered. It was a pleasure working with City Sweets & Confections!

I absolutely loved working with Deborah. From the minute I met her, I knew that she was one of the vendor's that would make me happy on my wedding day. Being an indecisive bride, I changed the design of my wedding cake numerous times before settling on what I finally wanted only 5 days before my wedding. I gave Deborah a lot of creative leeway because I trusted her artistic abilities and am so happy I did.

Our cake was so original and one guest even thought that it was an artistic sculpture!

Everyone loved the taste and the whole cake was gone by the end of the night. I never thought I would save the top layer but I had to because it was too beautiful and tasty to throw away!

Deborah was the absolute best! I randomly found her on another wedding site, and from the minute I first contacted her, she was very quick to respond. My fiance and I probably had about 5 different tastings because we could not decide what flavor cake we wanted. Her flavor combinations are absolutely amazing (my favorite is the white vanilla bean/passionfruit/buttercream frosting)! We ended up with a monstrosity of a cake (6 layers), with 5 different flavors for each layer (bottom and top layers were the same) at a very reasonable price. Our wedding cake was beautiful and delicious. Deborah also made her beautiful cupcakes for my bridal shower, and she is also making the cake for my upcoming baby shower. Of all the vendors I worked with to plan the wedding, she was by far, my absolute favorite. Any bride who is looking for a beautiful and tasty cake need not look any further!

Deborah Lauren is incredibly talented and works some serious magic with her cakes! She made our wedding cake for this past weekend and not only did it look like it should be on the cover of a magazine, but it tasted delicious too! We needed a non-dairy cake (which most bakers said no to right away), but Deborah said that she could do almost all of her cakes/frostings non-dairy. When we met with Deborah for a tasting a few months ago, I thought that there had been some sort of confusion because there was no way the cake and frostings were non-dairy....but they were! Seriously delicious and gorgeous. It was such a treat to have such beautiful art served at our wedding. Everyone commented about how much they loved it, and we couldn't have been happier. Deborah is a pleasure to work with and is truly as good as it gets.

Our cake was white chocolate with chocolate frosting for some layers and vanilla cake with passionfruit frosting for others. The cake was draped with fondant and covered with the most beautiful sugar peonies and hydrangea to match our centerpieces. Simply fabulous!!!! I recommend City Sweets to everyone!

We are certainly looking forward to coming back to Deborah for every cake we ever need in the future!

Perfect! We met Deborah not having a real idea of what we wanted. She presented 10 different flavor cupcakes and fillings for us to try (all delicious). It was difficult to decide because everything was so good. She guided us through the the process asking questions; low and wide, high and thin, round or square....? We told her what we like and some ideas of what we were looking for. She presented us with a breathtaking cake. She is an artist. The handmade, edible flowers looked freshly cut. I could not believe how beautiful it was. The guests couldn't stop talking about it. The best part is it was as yummy as it was gorgeous. We had lemon cake with rasberry filling and buttercream frosting. She captured what we wanted perfectly. So many guests have commented on the cake. The other great thing is how nice she is. She answered my inquiry promptly, was flexible in meeting us and just so pleasant and friendly. I will have her make a cake anytime and cannot recommend her enough. Thank you, thank you Deborah!

Deborah was wonderful to work with. She truly brings your concept to life and surpass your every expectations. My husband and I were very happy with the amazing range of flavors, filling and quality ingredients she has to offer. She was also able to provide a cake for special dietary needs, gluten and lactose free. The guests at the party was raving about how delicious and beautiful our wedding cake looks. Deborah is amazingly talented and professional. She has a passion for what she does. Her technique and amazing artistic nature not only makes her cake delicious and beautiful but a masterpiece to any weddings. We had fun working with Deborah and highly recommend her.

I highly recommend City Sweets and Deborah. She is so friendly and professional which is relieving when you're planning a wedding! Deborah was a dream to work with!! She came referred by by amazing planner, Michelle of Pink Monkey Events in NYC. Deborah created my dream wedding cake, taking my idea of fondant "pearls" to to another level by combining tiers of pearls with an elegant scroll design in my light purple color palette. She included flowers and worked in my cake topper perfectly (look in her portfolio, my cake is the 6th one in it) She brought tons of ideas to the table, the flavors of the cake were ALL delicious (we went with one tier each of lemon curd, raspberry jam, and vanilla marscapone) and our guests haven't stopped raving since! Seriously. Deborah also made tiny, delicious cupcakes with coordinating scroll designs, which she packaged in lavender flower-shapes boxes for our guests to take as favors. She was absolutely fantastic and I can't recommend City Sweets any more highly!!!

There was so many choices of creating the cake. The cost of the cake was very good and the little kids loved it! Came on time and it was my dream cake for my wedding.

Deborah is awesome. At our tasting, Deborah made us probably 10 cupcakes and 10 different frosting samples. She has a background in graphic design, so she and parkgroom really clicked, and I knew she would do a great job. Parkgroom and I were both so excited about her cake and frosting (respectively) that we e-mailed her right after our tasting to tell her we wanted to work with her. She told us she’d make us a fabulous cake for the number of guests we were having for our budget, and she delivered! In fact, we trusted her taste so much, we gave her nearly free range over our cake design and we were not disappointed!

My husband and I came across City Sweets by recommendation which is why I feel so passionately about recommending her to future brides...you will NOT be disappointed! Deborah was such an incredibly professional, responsive and flexible person to work with. Nothing we asked of her was too difficult, and she made fantastic recommendations to us along the way. We felt the creation of our wedding cake was a wonderful collaboration of our taste and style, and her unparalleled creativity and skill. Deborah continued to meet with us throughout our planning process to gain an understanding of exactly what the theme of our wedding was and how we wanted the cake to tie in. She brought us mini cupcake in different flavors to taste, and went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable with every step of the process. The taste of the cake goes beyond anything we could have imagined (this is coming from true dessert addicts). Your guests will be raving about the texture, taste and elegance of your wedding cake. Everyone commented on how it was so moist and the flavors of each layer really came through. While planning our wedding we trusted and worked with vendors that came highly recommended by friends and other brides, that being said we cannot recommend Deborah and City Sweets & Confections highly enough!!!! When my daughter told me her friend was going to make her wedding cake I thought: uh oh! After all, this was her wedding day � one of the most important events of her life. I wanted everything to be perfect for her. Little did I know that her friend, Deborah, was a gifted artist that would provide us with one of the highlights of the event.

The cake was literally a work of art. A multi-tiered tower with a winding vine of delicate, realistic orchids from bottom to top. How did she do that? I thought. How was that possible? How did she make something so beautiful from flour, eggs and sugar?

I still don't know the answer to those questions, but I do know that Deborah has set a new standard in her chosen field. Did I mention that the cake tasted as good as it looked? If you're lucky enough to have her prepare one of her creations for your special event, consider yourself blessed.

I had such a great experience with Deb. From the initial meeting where we sampled some of her amazing flavors to the design process where she really tuned into what we wanted to the big day, when the cake was fantastic and tasty....I would recommend City Sweets to anyone. They also helped me with the cupcakes for an office bridal shower and what a hit! All the deserts we had from Deb were beautiful and delicicious...which is not always the case with other places where things don't always taste as good as they look. The cakes here look good, taste good and the experience working with City Sweets is all around pleasant. Definitely check them out.

Delicious and decadent! Deborah exceeded all of our expectations! She created the most amazing wedding cake for us on 9/5. We went with the red velvet and vanilla cream...and the dark chocolate with raspberry filling. AMAZING!! She created a simple yet sophisticated design of the most gorgeous sugar flowers. The roses were a perfect match to my bouquet. I literally cried when I saw the cake for the first time! So beautiful! Deborah could charge 5x what she does. She's NYC's hidden gem!! My husband and I cannot wait to order our next cake from her!

I came across City Sweets by accident online but I could not have had a luckier find. Deborah was such a lovely person to work with. Nothing was too much trouble, she understood exactly what I wanted and effortlessly created the most beautiful wedding cake I have ever seen! It almost brought tears to my eyes when I saw it, I could not have imagined anything more perfect. It also tasted as good as it looked. I opted for a different flavour for each layer and it worked really well. I have to say that the coconut sponge was to die for though and proved to be a firm favourite among my wedding guests. Everyone commented on it and how nice it tasted and as testiment to this not a slice was left! I cannot recommend City Sweets highly enough, my expectations were not only exceeded, they were completely blown away!

Our City Sweets cake was absolutely delicious (white chocolate cake and frosting with triple berry mousse filling) and looked amazing. Working with Deborah was great from the initial tasting where she made cupcakes of each of the flavor combinations and helped us design the cake to the actual day. We met with several vendors (many much more expensive) and none of their cakes tasted anywhere near as good as Deborah's samples which were moist and flavorful.

Deborah Lauren is truly an amazing baker and artist! Working with her was one of the best and most enjoyable vendor experiences of our whole wedding. Deborah was gracious and happy to accommodate all of our tasting requests - the many different cake and filling flavors she offers are so tantalizing, it was difficult to choose - and it was clear from the tasting that she only relies on high quality fresh and natural ingredients for her cakes, which was really important to us.
Deborah had suggested a green cake to go with the colors of our wedding, and I agreed, although I wasn't quite sure of it. When we walked into the reception after our ceremony and finally saw the cake, it truly took our breath away! I have never seen anything so beautiful - the color was gorgeous and perfect, and she had decorated it with handmade white sugar flowers that actually fluttered in the wind!! It was unique, simple, elegant and classic - which was exactly what we had wanted.
The cake was absolutely delicious, as well as beautiful - all of our guests made a point to tell us how much they enjoyed the cake - many telling us "I've never had a wedding cake that tasted so delicious!!"
My husband and I agree, and are so happy we decided to work with Deborah and Citysweets for our wedding cake. Deborah put so much time, effort, care and attention to making the perfect cake for our wedding - we could not have asked for a better baker or a better value for the cost. We will recommend Citysweets to all of our friends. I can't wait for the next occasion that we'll need a cake for, so that we can work with Deborah and her delicious cake again!

Deborah's cakes are amazing! Every year I order a cake from Deborah for my son's birthday party. One year I didn't and the guests were clearly disappointed! Once you've had Deborah's delicious cakes nothing else can compare! This year the guests were going back for seconds. There wasn't a crumb left! Glad I got a piece!!
