Daughter's Wedding
Holly was the wedding planner for my daughter's wedding. Hiring Holly was the best decision my daughter and her fiance could have made! They gave Holly their budget, ideas, likes & dislikes, what was important to them, and not so important. She recommended vendors, venues, and all that goes into planning a wedding. She provided a rehearsal & wedding day timeline for the bridal party, which was incredibly helpful! Holly respected their wishes, worked within the parameters given, and the final result was a beautiful wedding and reception exactly the way our daughter and fiance wanted, and without unwanted surprises! Even at the end of the reception, I thought I was going to have to pack up and load all the personal items, but I did not have to. Holly had already done it all and loaded it all into our car! We cannot thank her enough for all she did for each of us! I highly recommend A Charleston Event! Holly is professional, personable, and affordable! A must have for any event! -

Our wedding would not have been the same without Holly and A Charleston Event. Holly took what I was dreaming in my head and made it a reality. Not only does she listen to what you really want she made that happen with even a budget and from hundred of miles away. Although I lived in ohio planning a Charleston wedding I trusted her opinion every step of the way. At the end, she wasn’t just my wedding planner she was and still is a dear friend. Anyone who’s getting married in the Charleston area, I would HIGHLY recommend Holly and A Charleston Event! -

Holly was absolutely amazing through our entire process! As a groom marrying a bride who pays attention to small details Holly was able to help my wife find all the vendors and work with them to enable a beautiful wedding day. Holly made sure that the day of, the focus remained on both me and the bride. She was a huge component of it being the best day of my life. I honestly don't know how we would have been able to pull it off without her! -

Holly made our wedding day (and everything leading up to it) go super smoothly! It was great to not have to worry about anything on my wedding day except getting my dress on - Holly took care of everything else! Additionally her design ideas were great! Our wedding would not have looked half as nice as it did without Holly's ideas and input.
Holly is also very friendly and personable and immediately puts you at ease from the moment you meet her. We interviewed a lot of wedding planners but when we met Holly my husband, parents and I all knew she was the one to work with! The most valuable thing she did was calm my nerves throughout the entire planning process and on the day! -

I really cannot tell y'all how amazing Holly is enough to really do her justice. She put together such an amazing wedding with exactly the right aesthetic, while I lived 4 hours away. My husband and I still say, 3 years later, that it was one of the best days of our lives and that is entirely to her credit. Also, she sewed one of my bridesmaids gowns up on the fly, basically saving the day without blinking an eye. Holly is incredible at her job, absolutely flawless. -

Holly simpson was on point with the planning and execution of the wedding details. With the men she made sure they were ready and didn't take any BS as some of us tried to push the boundaries. With the ladies she was thoughtful throughout the planning and made sure it was a day to remember for Lynette. Where do I even begin!? Holly was Perfect. We used A Charleston Event this past October for Wedding Planning Services and the Officiant. Holly went above and beyond our expectations. We actually chose Charleston as a destination for our wedding and were planning from out of state. Holly recommended all the vendors, who all were excellent! She truly made the wedding planning process as stress free as possible. On my wedding day Holly was there bright and early and was super attentive to everyone to make sure everything was running smoothly. We had a few hiccups and Holly completely fixed everything. She is extremely creative and a problem solver. For example, my Maid of Honors dress zipper broke minutes before pictures and Holly was able to use extra fabric we had and fix it. You would have never known in a million years that the dress was broken. I told Holly we wanted a short and sweet ceremony and that is exactly what she delivered. The vows were beautiful! Many of my guests told me how incredible they thought Holly and the vows were. It was truly a pleasure working with Holly, I highly recommend. Worth every penny! -

My husband and I decided to get married, literally at the last minute. (2-3 months before) We wanted an elopement style wedding but with a big wedding feel. I had reached out to at least 20 people looking for help and/or guidance and was continuously turned away. Then, I stumbled upon Holly! I called right away and received excellent customer service from our first conversation. Holly is so kind and always goes above and beyond to make sure that everything is scheduled, taken care of and perfect for your special day. (She even kindly helped calm my nervous and stressed self minutes before the ceremony) She took our small wedding and turned it into more than I had ever dreamed of! She worked great with our smaller budget and always replied right away when I had a question. I honestly would recommend her to everyone looking. If you are looking for the best? Holly is your girl! -

Holly Simpson was simply amazing to work with. She genuinely cares about your wedding day as if it were her own, and she does a great job at personalizing your ceremony to be what the bride and groom want. She gently, professionally and gracefully led us through our vows in a way that made us feel so intimate and that each and every word is a treasure. I hadn't met Holly until our day before rehearsal and I felt like I had known her for years once we finally did meet. I would 100% recommend A Charleston Event for any wedding planning needs! I had a pretty good idea of the vision I had in mind for our wedding and Holly was absolutely instrumental in putting it all into action. Holly and I were in constant communication via email, texts, and numerous phone calls leading up to the wedding. She had fantastic ideas and recommended some wonderful vendors for the wedding and rehearsal dinner. She always made me feel like I was a priority and no request or idea was silly or too small. I knew the day of the wedding I had nothing to worry about. Holly took care of everything and made the day picture perfect. She was even able to fix my wedding dress bustle when a guest accidentally stepped on it and ripped it out. Holly made the whole wedding planning process as stress free as it could be. My husband and I interviewed just about every wedding planner in Charleston before deciding on Holly. Lets be honest, they all do the same fundamental thing and picking one can be very overwhelming. For us, we chose Holly because we 'clicked' with her and I knew that we would have fun along the way plus the fact that she has AMAZING recommendations from prior brides. We were planning our wedding from DC and thus made several trips down to Charleston during the year we were planning our wedding. Holly always had them perfectly organized so that when we got there, we could go from meeting to meeting and get our tasks accomplished, I didn't have to do any planning whatsoever. She introduced us to many vendors and always gave us her honest recommendations based on the type of wedding we were going for. If there is one thing that occurred during our wedding which summarizes how dedicated Holly is, it is this - the night of our rehearsal dinner, the vendors set up the decor. I got back to the venue afterward and noticed that quite a few things were not how I wanted them to be set up (mind you it was about 1030 pm). I called Holly in a panic and even though she had a friend staying with her, she showed up at the venue in about 10 minutes to go through all my concerns and calm me down. Once everything was fixed, we had a drink on the deck and just chatted about life because Holly is incredibly personal and gets to know all of her brides. The next day, her face was the first one I saw at 8 am saying 'Good morning!'. Throughout this whole process, she was my rock and I couldn't imagine how our wedding would have gone without her. Holly has become a dear friend to me and we have kept in touch even after the wedding, I am very thankful she played such a large role in our special day! -

I have been a driver for many of the events with "A Charleston Event". Holly is a dynamite planner. Every event I've helped with was professional and all I heard from the wedding party's and guests over the years was how it was the best wedding they have ever been to or a part of. I've driven for numerous weddings over the years and the ones that Holly has been in charge of were the best organized and orchestrated. Just #1 in my book. We found Holly at a wedding convention. We automatically liked her personality and thought she was very knowledgeable. We initially booked her as our officiant and she helped us figure out our ceremony details. 2 weeks prior to our wedding day we realized that we were becoming over our heads with wedding details. Holly was able to step in as our day of coordinator and helped us out greatly. Holly did an amazing job with coordinating with our vendors and bringing together all of my wedding details on the day of the wedding. She exceeded my expectations and was 100% worth the money. We were able to be stress free on the wedding day and would definitely recommend her! -

We are more than happy with Holly's services. She was simply outstanding. The wedding went off without any issues. It was beautiful, fun and delicious. Holly was able to remove all the stress and strain typical of weddings, but she did it in a way that was not pushy. She was very professional in how she managed all the personalities involved. Holly Simpson, owner of A Charleston Event, made certain the day of our daughter's wedding went PERFECTLY. There was not a moment of concern as all had been put into place long before that special day finally came. We were able to get lost in the joy and great fun of the day without lifting a finger or having to deal with a single detail. There was NO fretting, only excitement and enjoyment as the day rolled out and moved into the actual ceremony and reception. Truly, it was a dream wedding that so many enjoyed and are still talking about. That doesn't just happen; it takes great time, energy, personal investment, and a true desire to make the day the very best day ever for the bride and groom. This wedding was a Destination Wedding for all, guests and bridal party. There is no way our beautiful event could have ever taken place without Holly Simpson. MOB (myself) being a control freak, I was completely confident that we had hired the right event planner from the first time we met with her. Nothing was impossible, no detail overlooked, mindful of our budget, lead us in the right direction from the bridal salon, flowers,cake,rentals, DJ and hair-makeup stylist's. Oops almost forgot transportation! Everyone that we dealt with couldn't have been kinder or more helpful. I learned from Holly, there is never a "dumb" question or idea! Without a doubt if I had another daughter to marry this is the person I would turn to again. That being said, I would fly her to Maryland to do it here! Can't say enough about this pleasant experience we had. Did I mention, she has now become "family". How she does all that she accomplishes is beyond me. A Charleston Event was the best decision we made for our wedding. We used Holly for our day-of coordination, and I couldn't have done it without her! She set up an amazing day-of schedule. It worked perfectly and everything went off without a hitch (that I know of). I was so calm on my wedding day because everything just happened with Holly's push behind it! The reception timing was incredible! All of our preferences were met with also important suggestions that made the party run so much smoother. I didn't have to worry about anything.
I remember seeing my ceremony and reception venue for the first time. I was blown away. It was absolutely breathtaking, and Holly was there making sure I was happy. I do theatre, specifically costumes, so being a designer I was super worried about how everything would look, but it looked better than I could even imagine. Even my husband said how amazing it all turned out.
Best part about Holly, she makes sure that you and your groom are well taken care of. Water was passed into our hands, we were given our own table with plates of food and encouraged to eat, and Holly was always looking after our well-being as well as the rest of the event. If you don't want to worry about a thing on the day of your wedding, hire A Charleston Event! It's worth it! -

I was VERY last minute planning the details of my ceremony. After my first conversation with Holly (I didn't call her until two weeks before my wedding) I was SO glad she was flexible enough to work with my crazy schedule, she made me feel much more at ease. My husband and I were really grateful for Holly's suggestions for our ceremony. It was short and sweet (just like we wanted) and I received several compliments from friends and family over how smoothly it went. Overall, Holly was really easy to work with and made me feel calm and collected before/during/after my ceremony, and I could not have asked for more. Thank you Holly! -

Holly is not only professional, creative and prompt, she is truly a partner in your event. She repeatedly went above and beyond in helping us achieve the perfect day - from start to finish. She reccommended high quality vendors with strong reputations; each delievered exactly what was promised and on time. I knew my guests would be well taken care of, but was relieved at how calm and protective she was over me and our overall vision. Everything was executed as we planned it, and under budget! Holly is an angel. We live in Ohio and hired her to be our full planner for our wedding in SC. We couldn't make any trips down so all the planning was done through communication and pinterest photos. Everything, I mean everything!, was just as we asked for. She worked with our budget and gave us every vendor/service that we wanted. She planned our hair and make-up appointments, even a short notice nail appointment the morning of, she did a just beyond perfect job. Everything was perfect. She listened to us and really made it about what we wanted. We can't say enough about what she did for us. Our families were and are still raving about what she did. She's not just your planner through the wedding process, she's your friend and that's what makes her team and what she does even more special. -

If it wasn't for Holly we could never had pulled off our amazing wedding weekend. From the minute we made contact, she was professional, dedicated and committed to making sure that everything my husband and I wanted came true. We threw her many curve balls along the process including pushing the wedding up by 14 months after already booking a venue, and leaving her less then 8 months to put it all together, a six hour time difference and having her convince all our potential venders to wait until 45 days out from our wedding to make us finalize contracts and menus so that we could meet with them in person since we lived on another continent. Through out the entire process I came to think of Holly as more then just our wedding coordinator but as a life-long friend that I continue to stay in contact with over 6 months after our wedding. If you are going to do a wedding (or any other event for that matter) and you need a coordinator, Holly and A Charleston Event is the ONLY option in my opinion!! -

Holly Simpson, owner of A Charleston Event, was absolutely amazing in helping me plan my wedding! I had TWO WEEKS to put the whole event together because my fiancee is in the Navy and we decided at the last minute to have a ceremony and reception before being relocated to Hawaii on Jan 28. Holly was brilliant with her suggestions of all the vendors I would need and helped with introductions, negotiations, contracts, all the hundreds of questions I had, and keeping me sane (not to mention on budget) throughout the process. Our wedding day was more than I could ever hope for, and our friends & family agreed. Even though we only had 24 guests total and a $3500 budget, Holly's ideas made our day feel like we'd spent millions. Thank you Holly! -

She went above and beyond for all our planning, visits, reviews, rehearsal dinner and of course our wedding. She is still in contact with us to this date to see how we are doing 6 months after our wedding. Holly was so helpful throughout the while wedding process. I especially loved her familiarity with the other vendors in the area, which gave us insight into which vendors to use, and made everything 100% easier. Also appreciated her composure under fire. It's not everyday a wedding planner has to deal with guests who don't know how to make s'mores or who insist on feeding the resident alligator, but she dealt with everything with aplomb and grace. -

My husband has said on multiple occasions, "no wedding should ever take place without a "holly"! She was SPECTACULAR.
After our rehearsal with Holly, I didn't feel an ounce of stress. She made our day go by seamless. If there was an issue, she handled it without me even knowing. I had been in many weddings where I felt the bride and family didn't get to enjoy every second because they were always dealing with last minute details. Holly handled everything to the point that my family and I got to enjoy every part of the best day of my life. She was great before, during, and after our wedding weekend came to an end and I cannot recommend her enough.
It's not every wedding that your family and friends compliment the wedding planner weeks after your wedding is over! Thank you, Holly, for making every fun, stressful, crazy second of our wedding year of planning, come to a perfect day! -

Holly completely coordinated the entire planning of my daughter's destination beach wedding!! I was thrilled! The vendors she recommended were all excellent AND reasonably priced. My daughter and I provided the vision of what we hoped for and Holly made it happen! It was even more beautiful than I had envisioned. She stayed and directed the vendors and ensured everything flowed smoothly. As mother of the bride, I actually relaxed and enjoyed the whole night!!

I cannot speak enough praises of all the work that Holly did to make our wedding go off without a hitch. She really grasped what we had envisioned and ran with the theme and did more work than we could've imagined. We thought we had everything figured out and weren't planning on getting a coordinator but decided to talk to Holly and she had so much input and so many great thoughts that we hadn't even considered. She worked closely with the folks at our venue both before and during the event to make sure that everything was in place and we didn't have a single worry on the day of our wedding. I would highly recommend A Charleston Event to any of my friends. -

This was the first wedding I experienced as a father of the bride and I couldn't have asked for a more incredible setting. From the attentiveness of Holly, to the attention to detail and just her positive attitude that everything would be great was phenomenal. All I needed to do was pay attention to my daughter, share in her Cinderella moment and reassure her of how much this day meant to me also. I couldn't have asked for a better first time experience and can only pray my other two daughter's weddings are as incredible. Holly did a FABULOUS job! We planned a destination wedding at Folly Beach and used Holly for day-of-event coordination. The fact that she knew the venue so well and knew the staff by name made such a difference. When we did our walk through a few months before the event, she had a ton of good ideas and was open to any of ours. She listened to everything we wanted, made recommendations to fit our style, and on the big day, she was always 2 steps ahead of us. She worked through the night to make sure everything was ready. We could not have pulled it off without her. Throughout the planning process she was very responsive to email, texts, and phone calls. -

We live in Houston, but got married in Charleston where my husband's family lives. I really was at a loss trying to plan a wedding in a city I had only visited a few times. Thankfully I found Holly! After our first meeting I had complete confidence in her. I can honestly say I was not stressed a single time thanks to her; I trusted her and knew that she would handle and take care of every detail.
No words can explain how thankful I was to have Holly Simpson as my wedding planner. She went above and beyond and was always there when I needed anything. We contacted Holly a full year before our recent marriage and she was right there with us the entire way; from planning and picking DJ's and flowers, to sampling cake and dinner items, to decorating the venue and choosing linens and so many other small details, and up until the last minute when we took off on our boat departure after the reception (which was one of her many awesome suggestions). So many guests complimented on the small touches, decorating and details during the ceremony and reception, and all were thanks to Holly!
Once we got to Charleston we gave her all our decorations and pictures and candy and wedding items - we arrived at the venue to see it so beautifully displayed and put together - then had it all boxed up and back to us the next morning. None of my family or friends were stuck having to clean up or get it ready, and were able to enjoy the day with us. She guided us through it all, and I cannot praise or recommend Holly enough! She is worth every penny and more for all she does for her couples. -

Holly planned my last minute elopement perfectly! She arranged for an officiant, location, flowers, and a photographer $300 under the budget that I set. Since we are from Richmond, VA, having someone at the destination to arrange for vendors was very relaxing. On our way down, we got stuck in traffic for hours, meaning we were not able to apply for our marriage license in time to pick it up for the Saturday ceremony. Holly met us to notarize our license on Monday before we went home. She also went totally beyond the call of duty by showing up on the day of to meet me, even though the officiant and photographer (who were both wonderful) could have easily handled the day. Holly is quick to respond to e-mails, calls, and texts, and plans beautiful events. She definitely made the wedding :) -

Holly was great. As a groomsman I was concerned I would step wrong or turn the wrong way at some point. Holly reminded me of a football coach mixed with a dance instructor. She eased my concerns with her no non sense directives when it came to movements and constant feedback as the party performed. I witnessed her being aware of moments needing to be caught by the photographer and boldly making the call to insure the moment was captured. She was able to sternly redirect the groomsman when needed but freely joined in during lighter moments. She seemed to be omnipresent at every event and she made the events go off without issue and in a way the guests were able to focus thier attention on the bride and groom. -

As the mother of the bride, I of course wanted my daughter's wedding day to be everything that she had dreamed of. She and her fiance' had planned every moment and we knew that it was going to be beautiful. Several weeks out we realized that there was no way that we could take care of all the details that putting that day together entail and stilll enjoy the wedding. My daughter did some calling and some interviewing and found Holly. That was probably the best thing that happened during the entire wedding planning process. Holly stepped in and made every dream that they had for their wedding day come true. She executed their plans flawlessly and took care of all the things that we hadn't even thought of. My now-husband and I almost fully planned our wedding before I freaked out about how our beautiful plan would be executed while I was busy getting my hair and make-up done and spending quality time with my girls on our wedding day. We decided we needed a day-of coordinator less than a month before our wedding, and we luckily found Holly. I was very impressed with Holly from the start. She was very quick to respond to emails and phone calls. She offered wonderful suggestions regarding décor and vendors that fit with our existing plans and budget - for example, I found a beautiful accent table cloth for our cake table, but couldn't get the size I wanted and eventually settled on a different table cloth. When I showed her what I really wanted, she knew just the vendor to supply the exact table cloth I wanted in the size I needed. She jumped right in and communicated with all of our vendors and began working on a day-of schedule to make sure the day went smoothly... and it really was a perfect day. I would not change a thing. She had a plate of appetizers waiting for me and my husband when we arrived at the reception and made sure we (and our parents) were taken care of the entire night. She also went around with our guest book to make sure everyone signed it! We recently went to a family wedding and their coordinator was a nightmare, so my mom was a bit unsure about hiring someone... my mom has gone on and on about Holly and said it was the best money we spent. I completely agree... I did not worry about one thing the day of the wedding. And I walked into the most beautiful enchanting reception without having to lift one finger! -

Last weekend Holly Simpson from A Charleston Event was my sisters day of planner. To say she was wonderful would be an understatement! She was amazing and was able to multi-task like no one I have ever seen, which is key on a wedding day! While running the show from behind the scenes she was also holding my 8 month old to keep him from crying throughout the ceremony!
Holly also has such a wonderful personality that you can't help but just love her!

They exceeded expectations and truly made our wedding dreams come true. A few fun memories of working with Holly and her team: seeing her smiling face when we arrived at the Francis Marion in preparation for the wedding, her calming presence, bringing me fresh contacts from my groom's toiletry kit on the day of the wedding, setting up our night of suite, running to grab additional gin because we were running out, everything was on schedule!
In sum, if you are not sure if you need a wedding planner for your wedding, I recommend taking the leap of faith with A Charleston Event - to reiterate - best decision we made! It was completely worth it.

A Charleston Event helped us plan our wedding on March 23, 2013 and she was absolutely wonderful! When I started the planning process for our wedding I contacted Holly and gave her a list of the vendors I needed and the type of wedding we had in mind; within a few days she had me reasonable quotes on all vendors that I needed and once I agreed she handled the communication and coordination with them. As the time for our wedding came closer, Holly always kept in touch with me and helped me coordinate last minute details...on the day of my wedding she made it all happen and I did not worry about anything! My parents live out of town and my mother spent many sleepless nights worrying about how the wedding day would go....Holly came in and put her mind at ease and delivered exactly what we needed. At first, the thought of my friend using a wedding planner was silly to me... then I actually thought about it, I would need one too!! My best friend and her groom are two of the most laid back people you will ever meet. They are last minute, fly by the seat of your pants, and very easy going. Without the help of sweet Holly, I'm not sure we would have had a such a perfect rehearsal, ceremony, and reception. Holly and her side-kick made everyone feel so relaxed and calm. Everything was smooth sailing all weekend... and if it wasn't, I had no idea & I was with the bride all weekend! Holly was very kind, patient and an obvious hard worker!! Elyn Rahman and her staff at A Charleston Event went above and beyond in ensuring that our daughter's wedding was such a beautiful and perfect day. From the moment we began planning to the moment the happy bride and groom drove away, I knew everything was being taken care of and under control!
Elyn had so many wonderful, yet simple, decorating ideas that were so lovely....and the FLOWERS...I have never seen flowers so gorgeous - from the bride's and bridesmaids' bouquets to the table arrangements and areas of outdoor seating - everywhere I turned were bursts of color that all tied in so perfectly. Simple yet so elegant.
The staff was on hand throughout the day keeping us on schedule and steering our guests in the right direction when it came time for the first dance, cake cutting, etc. From set-up to tear down, they were there handling what ever needed to be done - even keeping an eye on the gift table and making sure the presents were packed away safely in our van after the reception.
We thank Elyn and her staff for their expertise and calming influence throughout the whole wedding process. JOB WELL DONE!!

Momma Elyn knows her stuff. Through all of her professionalism, she has the ability to learn what the bride wants, and then adds her personal touches, to make the event everything you've envisioned. Listen to her and take her suggestions...especially when it comes to vendors. She has wonderful vendor contacts and will advise you of the extent of services you need from them. She will work with you to stay on budget and suggest ways to save money as she's very good at cutting through all the fluff out there when it comes to impulse buying. A bonus to working with her was that her staff is knowledgeable and able to handle questions and issues in her absence. I would highly recommend her. -

Planning Services: While we had previously lived in the city where we got married, we had just moved about 700 miles away. Planning was going to me a nightmare, or so I thought... Elyn, Christy, and the rest of the wonderful ladies at A Charleston Event & Bridal Library made my life so much simpler during the planning process. The few times I was in town to meet vendors or make any wedding decisions, they did everything they could to maximize my time.
From setting up appointments with all sorts of vendors, to getting some great deals for me, they really went above and beyond. I would never have met the musicians (whom we loved!) if it weren't for ACE, and same goes for the dress boutique and photographer we used.
Flowers and Decor: I really did not have a clear picture of what I wanted for decor, much less for flowers. Using the vague ideas and descriptions I had, along with what I knew I didn't like, they managed to make a beautiful and classy environment. Pictures are the only thing that can describe what they set up well enough, my words won't do it justice. -

Christy Roper was our on-the-day direction coordinator and also provided one-off consulting whenever I need her! She helped me coordinate logistics with all of my vendors and put my mother and I at ease when it came to the timeline for the day of the wedding. Wow! What a wonderful wedding planner we had with Christy Roper from ACE and Bridal Library! Christy guided us through the wedding months with confidence, kindness, fun, thoroughness and a smooth ride. When there was a glitch beyond her control, she handled it with such ease and discreetness that no one really worried about it and we all had a wonderful party.
Every bride should definitely have "on the day direction" where the last month is given over to the wedding planner. Christy quickly responded to all my e-mails, was gracious everytime I wrote an e-mail (and there were many) and above all, my daughter and Christy have become life-long friends I am sure!
If Christy does weddings outside of the Charleston area, we are in for the next time around. But, let's wait a couple of years! :)
Her assistant, Whitnie, took care of us all night long too. She seemed to just "be there" whenever I needed something!

We contacted her for assistance as a day-of-coordinator, but she provided much more than that. Through her professional contacts and business, we were able to obtain wedding invitations, chairs, and gifts for ushers/best man/matron of honor/reader at a substantial discount. But her services as a coordinator were the best value of all. Every meeting that we had with her was so useful and helped us feel comfortable that we were moving forward and meeting deadlines. Right before the wedding, she coordinated with the hotel, officiant, designer/florist, and dj to ensure everyone was on the same page. We had a very limited budget, and she worked with us to help us find the best vendors in the area within our price range. She is incredibly resourceful and very knowledgeable. She helped save us money in numerous different areas. She was by far the best wedding investment we could have made. -

This was by far the best part of my money spent on our wedding. At first I thought I could do it but being a destination wedding I added this 6 mths into our planning.The ease of the wedding day was so awesome I am so glad Elyn and Christy were there. A Charleston Event did an amazing job helping us to plan our daughter's wedding. Especially because we had to deal with the death of my mother less than two months prior to the wedding day, Elyn and Christie and the rest of their team took care of many of the details while I was spending full time at the hospital with my mom. I truly felt that I could rely on them to take care of all of the necessary planning and that I didn't have to worry about anything. Also, they provided so many extras that we were not charged for--from thoughful homemade goodies for the children who were attending to elegant embellishments to the decor. Where to even begin!? There are so many positive things to say about Holly with A Charleston Event. After getting engaged, I started my planning my destination wedding (we live in Illinois and were getting married in Charleston). After much stress of trying to plan it on my own in a city I was miles away from, I decided to look for a wedding planner. I was extremely nervous and kept thinking how do I know if this one is the right choice? I flew down shortly after signing a contract with her (about 1 year before our wedding). From the moment I met her I knew I had made the right decision. She was so friendly, organized, easy to work with, made me feel more at ease and was there to answer any of my questions or concerns. After those few days and looking at multiple venues, we picked the wedding date, the venue, the photographer, the rental company and even had a cake tasting. It was definitely a trip well spent. Over the next few months we would keep in contact here and there and she was always available to talk when I needed to. We flew down one more time before the wedding (about 6 months before our wedding) to take engagement pictures, apply for a marriage license, have a hair trial & book our DJ. Again, a trip definitely well spent and Holly made sure to have everything planned out for us. As the wedding came closer, we kept in contact pretty often. We came down a week before the wedding to make the trip into a vacation and Holly was on top of everything. She was there to pick up and do anything I needed, making our vacation stress free. She organized the entire rehearsal and had an itinerary printed out for my wedding party the day of the wedding. None of us had to set up or take down a thing, Holly did every bit of that!Looking back now, I don't think I could have ever made it without her, especially our wedding day. I feel like I can never thank her enough for making my wedding day so special/stress free! I highly recommend to anyone considering booking Holly! -

Holly was amazing to work with both leading up to my wedding, and on the big day!! We met a couple times before the wedding to go over my ideas, and she was a huge help. She weighed in with her opinions when I asked for them and gave very useful advice based on her extensive experience without being overbearing. She brought to my attention things I hadn't considered and went above and beyond what I hired her for by helping me book vendors. She easily sorted out small details that were stressing me out and helped piece together all of my random ideas to give me a great vision of both my ceremony and reception.
She was invaluable on the day of the event!! She spent all day at the venue organizing vendors and setting up my detailed DIY decor. I was very impressed when I showed up for the ceremony and everything was exactly how I described I wanted it! Holly made sure my ceremony and rehearsal were completely stress free for me by rolling with every kink in the plans. She repurposed my candles that wouldn't light, reorganized my processional in the middle of it when the groom wasn't standing where he should have been, and who knows what other problems she solved that I wasn't even aware of!! Throughout the entire event, she stayed cool, calm, and collected, which really helped keep me relaxed. She even served my groom and I dinner and packed all of our decor into our car for us after the event so we could join the after party!
Holly was a pleasure to work with throughout the planning process and especially on my wedding day. Her experience and calm demeanor kept me confident and relaxed, and I highly recommend her to any Lowcountry bride! -
