    Perfect Wedding Venue

Captain Linnell became genesis for what was our perfect wedding day. Through the efforts from Shelly, everything went off flawlessly. Her attention to detail and experience cannot be understated, and that level of work led to our guests to have an amazing time. From the start she worked close with us to help us pick vendors and work on the reception timeline. All her recommendations were spot on and her coordination with all our vendors led to such a successful day that it felt effortless for my bride and I. Her husband, Bill, needs also boat load of credit for the phenomenal meal he produced as head chef of the establishment. Our guests could talk enough about how amazing everything tasted and almost every plate was left clean. Honestly, the only negative I can share is the fact they are selling Captain Linnell back to the town of Orleans and that this is the last year that anyone can experience their perfection. We will be returning when we can before closing and know that anyone who does not experience this location, for an event, or simply for a fine dining experience is truly missing out. Amazing. 10/10. Get there while you still can.

Captain Linnell House is such a beautiful, classic, rustic, romantic, and historic venue to exchange vows! We instantly fell in love with Captain Linnell by taking just one look at the backyard garden and gazebo, with the majestic trees all lined up around it. Both Shelly Hippler-Conway and her husband not only own it, but also work very hard and come with the package. Shelly was my coordinator. When ever I had a question, she was there to answer it, and worked diligently to make sure our wedding went off without any issues. Her organization skills were amazing, even if time or a detail slipped away for a bit, she would some how manage to pull it all back together. Her husband is the chef at the Linnell and his food was absolutely delicious (especially the filet mignon, yummmmm)!!! The perfect package that Captain Linnell offers and the one that I chose that was available at the time, include open bar during cocktail hour, wine & beer for the rest of the night, ceremony outside, reception inside, sit down 3 course fine dining, champagne toast, and a rose petal "shower" send off at the end of the event. Captain Linnell also stays open for dinner when no events are going on! Everything was beautiful, We highly recommend using Captain Linnell House for ceremony ad reception, and any other events as well! We look forward in going back to visit for dinner sometime in the near future!!

Captain Linnell House is a beautiful old ship captain's house on the Cape. The old charm is perfect for weddings. Shelly Conway is the woman in charge there and my fiancé and I felt completely comfortable with Shelly running the behind the scenes of our wedding. She seems very much the type of woman where if you want it, she will make it happen. We had our ceremony in back of the house at their gazebo which worked beautifully, the sun was beginning to set and as it came through the trees it was perfect for pictures. We also had our reception there. Their autumn bisque soup, which is only available in October and November, is amazing and very flavorful. We had one version of their surf and turf (swordfish and filet) and both were fantastic. The filet was incredibly tender and probably the best I have ever had. We would also highly recommend their bacon wrapped dates as a passed appetizer. Because it is an old house, the dinner is actually served in 3 rooms which all look out to one another and there are windows in-between so you can see and talk to people in other rooms so this was not an issue for us. They have a main ballroom where they have cocktail hour and then cake cutting and dancing so nobody misses out on seeing those. There are 3 fireplaces, one in the main ballroom and 2 more in the rooms where dinner was served that add to the ambiance. We were looking for a place that could handle the ceremony, reception and was unique. We could not have found a better place for us. In addition, the overall price for an onsite ceremony and reception were amazing and included a lot (linens, food, open bar for cocktail hour, wine at table and then beer and wine covered for reception).

I can't say enough wonderful things about Captain Linnell and the amazing staff there. Our wedding was absolutely perfect and it was largely due to Shelly and her team. Every detail was considered and attended to, Shelly was very available for questions leading up to the big day and the entire team went above and beyond to make sure our guests were happy. I've gotten more compliments than I can count on the food and service. I would reccommend this venue to anyone!!

We picked the perfect venue for our hometown cape cod wedding. The Captain Linnell House offers not only a spectacular atmosphere with historic architecture, interior design etc, very representative of the cape and its ocean history, but the service is unmatched along with the food. The value is the best on the cape. Being an analyst I had completed a comprehensive cost analysis of 20 venues on the cape and the pricing with the quality was unmatched by any other venue available.

If you are looking for a true Cape venue with amazing gourmet food and a spectacular staff and service you cannot pass on Captain Linnell. Even the day Bridget, one of the employees, stayed by our side and helped with everything. The food was also incredible! our guests were floored!

Many said it was the best wedding they had ever been too and a lot of that had to do with the food and venue.

Thank you to Shelly and the entire team at Captain Linnell! Even if you are not planning a wedding visit them year round and have a meal, they are a gourmet restaurant year round...zagat rated!

Loved everything! Still keep hearing great things from guests. Loved the venue, the meal, and the order of events. Staff took care of everything, and let us enjoy our guests and the evening. They were very accommodating to our requests to personalize the reception and make it unique.

She provides a booklet of local vendors and additional information to help brides plan their day, and will help organize and plan as much or as little as needed. She has a great reputation with local vendors as well.

The Captian Linnell House is a gorgeous wedding venue! We got married in December, and it was beautiful, cozy and elegant. The lit fireplaces throughout really gave the wedding ambiance. Shelly is a professional through and through. She made sure our wedding went off smoothly and without a hitch. I felt confident in her and her staff to carry out the evening of my dreams and they didn't disappoint. And the food!!! Oh my, the food is OUTSTANDING!! I received so many compliments from my guests regarding how delicious everything was! We loved our wedding at the Captain Linnell and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful Cape Cod wedding!

My husband and I wanted to get married at a place on the Cape that we felt reflected our relationship--intimate, classic, easy-going, and not too flashy. We found exactly that in the ambiance of the Captain Linnell. The backyard has a feel of a secret garden, and the interior that of an older club room. It's comfortable and beautiful.
Shelly, the reception coordinator for the Captain Linnell is an expert planner and walked us through every minute detail of planning our reception at their venue. Because Shelly has been doing this for so long, she knows what works and what doesn't work within the space and time provided, so be prepared to be told that some of your ideas may not work. I appreciated the direction, as sometimes I had a difficult time envisioning the layout or how timing may work. She will always give you her reasoning for leading you one way or the other, so there is never any miscommunication. I thoroughly enjoyed working with Shelly and her lovely staff.
OH and the food was delicious! We served the crabcake and filet and all of our guests gushed over their meal.
We had a wonderful experience at the Captain Linnell House, and forever have beautiful memories there!

We had an amazing Labor Day weekend at the CLH! The staff was extremely helpful and thoughtful. Everyone at the wedding raved about how great it was. Also our guests appreciated the true Cape feel of the venue. The only negative thing i will say is the owner would come up to my parents and tell them they may threaten to stop serving someone alcohol. It took a lot of fun of the the wedding for my parents and the owner should just deal with the individuals involved instead of dragging others into it. That was the only negative thing i have though.

We could not have picked a better venue for our reception than the Linnell House! Our ceremony was down the road, at Skaket Beach, and our guests loved the easy transition from the beach to the laid-back cocktail hour at the Linnell House. Everything at the reception went so smoothly, and the Linnell House was the perfect setting for us and all of our family and friends. Guests raved about how beautiful the grounds were and absolutely loved the food (no surprise there, dinner at the restaurant is always incredible).

Shelly, who oversees all of their events, was so accommodating, both ahead of time as we were planning the wedding and on the day of. She and her team were tremendous. (After you reserve your date Shelly also provides you with a very helpful list of her vendor recommendations, which is nice if you don’t know who to turn to for all details on the Cape.) We had the best time! My husband and I were so happy with our choice and highly recommend the Linnell House!

We were married at the Captain Linnell House last weekend (outdoor ceremony + reception) and it was absolutely wonderful. We fell in love with the house, decor and location on our first visit. We were a little worried about a few polarizing reviews, but decided to go with our gut and booked the venue.
As a couple planning a destination wedding, we didn't need/want to be involved in choosing every single little detail, and for that, the Captain Linnell package was pretty perfect. Shelly is no-nonsense and doesn't leave a lot of room for personalization, but she has also been running weddings for years, and we trusted her when she recommended we do something a certain way.
Planning: During the planning process, Shelly was quick to respond via email or phone calls, was helpful with small requests, had a list of recommended vendors available (but was still open to us booking vendors not on her list) and generally made us feel like everything was taken care of.
Decor: The house and yard are both gorgeous. No need for flowers and there's barely even a need for centerpieces - the mantle, front room and dining rooms are that pretty.
Food: Everyone raved about the filet & swordfish main courses and our appetizers. It felt like a cozy yet formal dinner instead of a catered wedding for 140 people, which is exactly what we wanted. The dinner did feel a bit long, but we still had a solid 2 hours for dancing since we elected to pay for an extra half hour at the end of the night, so the flow of the wedding still felt good.
Dance floor: The dance floor was large & carpeted (which we loved) and helped us have a high-energy night. It was nice to have the full house for mingling, dancing and eating instead of having just one large room.
Overall, we had one of the best nights of our lives at the Captain Linnell House. Everyone can't stop telling us what a great party it was - and they're right!

My husband and I picked our wedding date about 4 months out so we were really tight with time. This is one of two places that my parents looked at and they were open and willing to work with us. We choose to go with the large banquet room (seats about 50) and it was wonderful.

We paid about $130 a person but a lot was included in the price, open bar, cake, 5 star dinner and dessert, GREAT staff. They have done wedding for MANY years so they know what to expect, but at the same point they have only a few ways of doing things. They are not very flexible, which can be very frustrating. I only wanted to modify a few things and I hit a bunch of walls. I must say overall I would have it there againa and I would recommend it to ANYONE, esp brides who do not care to much about details. This is a wedding package that includes almost eveything and I loved it for it. Last note...my guests are still talking about the food...what bride can say that!
