DJ Ligo was incredible!
Working with Cage was easy and great! We had listened to their Chicago-based DJs and decided that DJ Ligo aka Nathan was our guy. He’s a popular DJs for weddings so we were nervous he might already be booked but lucky for us he was available! Everyone from Cage were really nice to work with and they were very accommodating. Nathan (DJ Ligo) did an amazing job at reading our dance floor, being an emcee, and keeping the vibes high all night. We didn’t think we’d be on the dance floor all night and figured we’d need breaks and would mingle with our guests more but, honestly, Nathan kept the dance floor so alive and we just never left it! We had a great experience and would recommend them to anyone. Thank you, Nathan and the rest of the team!

Kept the party going!
Cage and Aquarium was easy to work with throughout the process.
DJ Rawzhel was an effective communicator leading up to our big day and really understood what we were looking for musically. He kept the dance floor going and when there was a lull in energy knew exactly how to bring it back. We also had a saxophone player start off the dance floor and that was a perfect touch to get the party started.
Overall we really enjoyed working with Cage and Aquarium and would recommend them to everyone.

Cage and Aquarium was the best!
Working with Cage and Aquarium exceeded our expectations. Communication was timely and professional, and they took time to really understand our music tastes and the vibe we were trying to create for our wedding. Our dance floor was packed all night, and multiple guests commented on how great the music was. DJ Demchuck did an amazing job!

DJ Ligo was great!
We couldn't be happier with our choice to have DJ Ligo (Nathan) at our wedding! From start to finish, he kept the energy up and the dance floor packed. We received so many compliments from our guests about how great the music was and how smooth the transitions were —everyone was dancing all night!
Nathan curated the perfect mix of songs that reflected our taste, with something for everyone to enjoy. The transitions between songs were absolutely seamless, keeping the momentum going without ever missing a beat.
He was professional, easy to work with, and truly helped make our wedding celebration unforgettable. If you're looking for a DJ who knows how to read the crowd and bring the party to life, we highly recommend DJ Ligo!

Tyler and the Cage and Aquarium crew were absolutely INCREDIBLE providing DJ services for our wedding. From start to finish they were there every step of the way, ready and willing to address any questions or other considerations we had to make everything absolutely perfect on our big day. Tyler even took it of his own accord to bring an extra lighting setup day of, which added some perfect ambiance to the dancefloor. He had folks rockin from open to close, and we had the BEST TIME! You Make Me Feel Like Danicing!!
DJ Stack was awesome!! She watched the crowd and adapted to what people were vibing with—she really made the dance floor come to life! I use they/them pronouns and had specific requests around language at the wedding; DJ Stack honored those requests perfectly! We tried a new dance (the “how long have you known us dance”) and the crowd loved it. There were 2 technical difficulties when it came to the music, but it didn’t dampen our day

BEST WEDDING DJ EVER. Dj Ligo (Nathan) made our wedding incredibly special. He played all the songs we wanted and incorporated even better music throughout the reception. He followed all of our directions for when to begin songs during the ceremony and for the first dance as well as family dances. The guests from our wedding kept telling me how amazing the playlist was and how the transitions from each song were on point! Thank you to Nathan and Cage and the aquarium!

Hire C+A!!
We hired Cage and Aquarium to play for our cocktail hour and dinner + reception. Wow, I can't recommend them enough. Cage was incredibly supportive and professional throughout the entire process. They truly have the process down and make it very easy to understand the order in which everything happens.
We paid the extra fee to select our DJ up front and selected DJ Demchuk (Daniel) after listening to some sample audio clips. I cannot say enough how great Daniel made the experience for us. Not only did he attend our final walkthrough in person (also accompanied by another member of the Cage team) but he also made us feel so great about our musical preferences and was just genuinely excited to perform at our wedding which really put us at ease and made SUCH a difference during a pretty stressful planning time. Daniel also held a final call with us in addition to attending the walkthrough. Finally, on wedding night, he absolutely crushed it. We got so many compliments from our guests on our wedding music.
I would not hesitate at all to hire Cage and DJ Demchuk for your wedding and other events! If we ever host a party again, we will absolutely hire Cage and DJ Demchuk!

Best Experience with Nathan Pierson (DJ Ligo)
Cage and Aquarium was the perfect DJ vendor, recommended to us by our venue in Chicago. They provided us a "shortlist" of options, and we chose to work with Nathan. He absolutely delivered, and then some. His music was absolutely flawless and he played every single one of our "top" songs and requested genres. He was genuine, professional, and helped us throw an epic party. The entire Cage team was amazing, Could not recommend them and Nathan more!

We Love Cage and Aquarium
We used Cage and Aquarium for our wedding in San Diego last weekend. Everyone was so beyond lovely to work with and so professional. We don't live in San Diego and the team went above and beyond during our planning process to meet on zoom to make sure all our needs were met the day of. Michael was an incredible DJ for both our welcome party and wedding. We got so many compliments on his play list and he went above and beyond to work with us on editing some music for our ceremony and first dance. Michael went above and beyond throughout the entire process more than any other DJ ive ever known. We added kevin for the saxaphone the day of the wedding and the two of them together had this wow factor for our guests and they were blown away. It added such elegance to our wedding. Shelley and her entire team for photography and videopgraphy had the utmost professionalism and went above and beyond to get the shots. we cant wait to see the photos. I truly cannot recommend this comany enough its truly a one stop shop for all wedding vendors and we couldn't be happier with everyone from cage and aquarium!

Look no further for a DJ!
We hired Michael at Cage and Aquarium for our wedding at AutoCamp Yosemite. He is very kind, punctual, responsive, and well-prepared. We had many meetings with him to discuss our wants and needs. We were very prepared ourselves and had many requests, which made it easier to work with Michael overall. Michael even helped us set up a few things ahead of time, unrelated to DJ-ing, which was very nice. He provided everything that you could think of needing, such as portable speakers, lights, and microphones. If you are looking for a DJ that can also prevent your guests from requesting unwanted music, he has a very classy way of responding to the request. We received many compliments about Michael, from our own guests to passersby. We would absolutely recommend anyone to hire Michael for their DJ needs. (For those that are wondering, Michael is LGBTQ+ friendly.)

Great vibes and great service
Cage and Aquarium was a great choice for our wedding! They were super accommodating at the last minute when we had a change in our plans and had to hire a DJ with only a few weeks to spare. We had our event at The Joinery in Chicago, and we were concerned about the sound because the reception and ceremony are in the same room. DJ Ligo (Nathan) was so awesome, all the sound was perfect, and he kept the vibes high during our brunch wedding. We couldn’t be happier and our guests raved about our tunes! Definitely recommend for your event for how easy and professional their team was. If I could give 6 stars for flexibility, I would!

We are so glad that we used Cage and Aquarium for our wedding and couldn't have enjoyed having Trevor as our DJ any more. He was absolutely spectacular and people from the wedding wouldn't stop asking for his name after. Cage brings the professionalism and the funk
We have nothing but great things to say about Cage and Aquarium! They were true pros from the first phone call, anticipated our needs and were just a joy to work with. They came recommended to us by our venue and delivered everything we wanted: Exceptional professionalism, organization and communication; perfect follow-through and most importantly, passion for music! Trevor was amazing to work with in the pre-planning process—super responsive and always so helpful with suggestions. He made us feel very understand and cared for. When our DJ couldn’t make our walkthrough, he graciously volunteered to appear in his stead.
And Marcos, our DJ, couldn’t have been kinder or more gracious. He was so positive and open to all our music and was super professional from beginning to end. He executed perfectly on all the little details (guest arrival music, recessional, etc), and was a commanding host of the evening. He took control of the dance floor and packed it in accordingly. We would recommend Cage in a heartbeat!

Could not recommend any more!
We could not have been happier with Trevor as our DJ. From the start of the process, he was nothing but professional while at the same time laid back and made us feel like we were in good hands.
Our wedding planning experience was fantastic, we started with a personal preference and music selection survey coupled with a 1 hour virtual meeting with our DJ to go over every specific detail from the songs we prefer (and do not prefer), the vibe we sought out, and the pronunciation of our wedding party names. We could not have felt more prepared going into our wedding with our DJ and music selections.
On the day our of wedding, we experienced some last minute changes, moving inside from outside due to weather issues and Trevor and the C&A team could not have transitioned any easier and less stressfully.
Trevor has the perfect temperament of a wedding DJ, energetic and gets the party going when needed yet also quiet and touching in some of those softer moments of a wedding event.
Also, by selecting the turntable upgrade, we were truly able to see Trevor do what he is best at and incorporate his artistic take on the music and play to the vibe of the party.
Not to be forgotten is the amazing quality of the uplighting and photobooth (out guests could not get enough of the photobooth - it was a true hit, and the photobooth staff was terrific)
If we got to do it all over again, we would do it exactly the same!

DJ Ed and C+A Were Amazing!
Ed was our DJ from C+A and he was absolutely phenomenal. He was a great communicator, set up several meetings ahead of our wedding to align on details, and made specific edits to songs that we wanted for the ceremony.
Most importantly, Ed had the dance floor absolutely bumping. The dance floor was packed and enjoying the music for the entire night.
C+A really know what they are doing and their process with matching you to a DJ lead to us being paired with Ed and having an unforgettable evening.

From our very first meeting, Michael exuded professionalism and organization, paired with a passion for his craft that was both inspiring and reassuring. He wasn't just there to play music; he was there to create an experience. And that, he did with flying colors. Marcos (DJ Curt Henny) was our DJ for our September 2023 wedding at The Joinery. C+A was easy to work with in that they were thorough on the intro call and really laid out what to expect over the course of the next ~year. The directions for filling out our music preferences were easy and actually a fun couple activity. And when it all came down to our DJ assignment (we let them assign at random), we had good vibes from Marcos at the jump. Day of, it took a bit for our dance floor to warm up but once Marcos got our vibe, he really hit it and the floor was aliiiive. His announcements were fire and he was a great addition to our big day. Would recommend.

Amazing DJ!
DJ Demchuk (Daniel) did an absolutely amazing job during our wedding! The dance floor was bumping all night and we got SO many compliments on how good the music was, including from our older guests. Both the C+A team and Daniel himself were super professional, kind, and communicative to work with throughout the planning process and during the night itself. We asked for some edits to our first dance song and Daniel made it happen flawlessly. He also sent us a full track list from the wedding within a few days so we can relive the party over and over. Dancefloor was on FIRE all NIGHT!
From the very first meeting with Kevin, we knew we were in incredible hands. He asked thoughtful questions about our song selections, took the time to understand our vision for the event and the day of the event went above and beyond. He nailed every important song and our dance floor was PACKED the whole night. With a crowd with mixed ages, he handled it well giving different music that spanned generations as well as honoring our request to cater to our musical tastes later in the evening. We received so many compliments on Kevin's great music selection and his high energy the entire event. He even took a treasured behind the scenes video of us of our family lining up before we walked down the aisle. He captured all of our nervous energy while cheering us all on.
Beyond his skills, Kevin is just an incredibly kind, thoughtful and caring human being. He truly understands the power that music can have to create a moment in time at an event and we never once worried about music or audio since we knew Kevin was the utmost professional and had every single detail covered. Cannot thank the Cage + Aquarium team and Kevin (DJ K. Sity) for playing such a BIG part in our BIG day.

What a great experience. After reaching out to Cage and Aquarium, the whole team was quick to respond and professional and great to work with. DJ Mykol was amazing! From meeting with us prior to our big day, to day of, his attention to our requests allowed for our wedding to run smoothly. As far as DJ services, we had an incredibly fun reception with tons of dancing and a lot of that can be attributed to our fantastic DJ, Tyler. All of our guests were impressed with the flow of one song into the next, as well as the song choices. We couldn’t be happier with how things went. We also used C&A for videography and even though they are new to the videography scene we are very happy with our videos. I appreciated how accommodating they were with capturing and offering footage for the key moments of our special day. I highly recommend Cage and Aquarium for their professionalism and high quality services.

Cage + Aquarium made our wedding music dreams come true (and then some)!
During our wedding planning process, my husband and I agreed that hiring the right DJ was essential. Music was one of the most important aspects of our wedding, and we found out about Cage + Aquarium through our wedding venue. We're incredibly fortunate to have booked our wedding reception with Cage + Aquarium, and we were matched with DJ Michael Rodriguez (DJ Mykol), and we were absolutely blown away by his performance! DJ Mykol followed clearly understood our music preferences, and skillfully and seamlessly transitioned the music throughout the entire wedding reception. He was also extremely helpful and supportive, and was accommodating with last-minute changes to our wedding details and announcements, and he was extremely kind and generous - especially when we were stressing out on the big day. DJ Mykol did an outstanding job with the music selection, and the dance floor was just packed the entire night, and he knew exactly how to read the room! We can't say enough how glad we were to have worked with Cage + Aquarium and Michael. From start to finish, everyone was communicative, responsive, friendly, and made sure that every detail was just right. The best night ever!
As any couple planning their wedding knows, hiring the DJ is one of the most critical choices you'll make - the right (or wrong) DJ can really make or break the tone for the entire evening. So happy to say that Cage & Aquarium, specifically DJ Michael Rodriguez (@djmykol) absolutely knocked it out of the park! One thing that was important to us as a couple was balancing the music tastes of our diverse, multicultural, multigenerational wedding guests, with our own tastes as a couple. We still wanted the night to feel "seamless" between genres, and it absolutely did! Our wedding took place in September 2021 and he did an amazing job of reading the crowd throughout the evening and adjusting to ensure everyone was dancing/vibing the whole night, from cocktail hour to the end of the reception. If you're on the fence - absolutely hire Cage and Aquarium!!

Run - don't walk - to hire DJ Mykol & Cage & Aquarium!
Oh man, let me tell you, Cage & Aquarium, and especially DJ Mykol, brought the party to our wedding!
We first engaged with Cage & Aquarium when we got engaged way back in 2019 (the Before Times). We went to a wedding Expo and saw DJ Mykol spinning vinyl and just knew he had to be our wedding DJ.
Fast forward to December 2021 when we finally were able to host our event. DJ Mykol was one of our favorite wedding vendors. He was extremely responsive and positive throughout the process. And always game to try our goofy ideas (like Rick Rolling our guests). He made sure the dance floor was packed the whole event - and really was an asset to our event. Who knew that Alanis Morissette's Ironic would be such a wedding floor jam???? It's now going to be my go-to at all events moving forward.
I cannot recommend DJ Mykol, and his partner Mario (who DJ'ed our cocktail hour). Couples, hurry up and book DJ Mykol for your wedding. He is a true partner and visionary DJ.

Perfect addition to our wedding - dance floor was packed the entire night!
The Cage and Aquarium were a breeze to work with for our wedding! You can tell their passion for providing quality deejay and emcee services. Shelley was quick to respond to any inquiries we had and it was very easy having to deal with a wedding date change due to COVID. The team was more than willing to spend any amount of time with us in preparation of our wedding day. Michael (DJ Mykol) was amazing! I could not have asked for a better DJ and emcee. He listened so carefully to everything we mentioned and was very detailed when providing feedback. He even did a mash up of Taylor Swift for me and it made the day so special. He was calm and organized and everything went seamless related to sound/music/emceeing. Our dance floor was packed the entire night - had a great mix of old school, 90's/2000's and new music. All ages were dancing. Also worked great with the other vendors to communicate timeline for the day of. Trevor from his team was also a huge help - he helped us keep everything on track from the speeches to helping find my bouquet for the bouquet toss. I hope to have another event that I can use C+A at - I would give more stars if possible!

Great Package for the Whole Event!
Everyone we worked with with Cage and Aquarium was a true pleasure, from the original contact made with Shelley and Trevor, to dancing to DJ STACK on the floor, to re-watching the livestream that Kevin so expertly filmed from the ceremony. Planning with them was easy, from finalizing the contract, to answering all of the small questions we had along the way. The BeThere Livestream was truly a special treat for family that couldn't travel internationally to be with us. Everyone was polite, punctual, and we didn't have to worry for a second that something could go wrong.

Our Cage & Aquarium DJ for our wedding, Luis, was the backbone of an incredible evening. He calmly guided us through the timeline all night and had EVERYONE out on the dance floor; I'm getting requests left and right for him! DJ Justin was great!
We used Cage and Aquarium for our wedding DJ- I had worked with the company in the past for retail events but never weddings. I was so impressed! They are thorough, organized, and professional. DJ Justin was the DJ we were matched with in the process and he was great! My husband and I have very eclectic yet specific tastes in music - from Irish music to bluegrass...from Frank Sinatra to hip hop! But DJ Justin pulled it all together flawlessly! Our dance floor was full of all ages partying and dancing the night away. He did a great job with the intro's and MC portions as well of the ceremony. We booked Cage and Aquarium's DJ and livestream services for our intimate wedding ceremony in November 2020. They were so easy to work with and we were happy with how everything turned out. We selected the vinyl happy hour package and DJ Kevin Sanabrais was on-point with all the music selections. We definitely felt like all of our ideas and suggestions were heard throughout the process and it all played out seamlessly. Additionally, the livestream didn't have any interruptions and the quality was extremely high-quality. We received so many compliments from at-home viewers that it was hands-down the best wedding stream that they had seen. Our DJ Michael was amazing!!! Being a covid/micro wedding we were worried about not having a dance floor and how that would affect our wedding day vibes. Leading up to the wedding we had a zoom meeting with Michael and it made us feel SO much better about the idea of no dance floor. We booked Cage and Aquarium for their streaming service 48 hours before our wedding because we wanted to connect some family members that couldn't travel due to covid. My (new) wife and I recently had a surprise wedding (not a surprise to us but to our guests) and after speaking with tons of DJ's we landed on Cage and Aquarium partly due to the fact that they were recommended by our venue and partly due to price. I have to say, that the process C&A went through to match us up with the right DJ was impressive. After a conversation and filling out some information, they connected us with Michael. During our first conversation, we absolutely hit it off. He is our people!! We are pretty sure he was more excited for our surprise wedding than even we were. He put in so much time and effort to make sure the music fit us and the event. On the day of the program, Michael showed up early to get set up. He wasn't due to start spinning until 8 pm but he was set up by 4 and then jumped in during our cocktail hour and played some music for the crowd. After the ceremony and the dinner, he crushed it! He had everyone on the floor all night long. I am pretty sure that my 6 year old niece and Michael had a special bond. She danced the entire night, right in front of his set up, and wouldn't let anyone dance with her. It was so spectacular! I cannot recommend Cage & Acquarium enough. They are the ultimate professionals, will match you with the perfect DJ from their team, and make sure that your wedding or event goes perfectly. THANK YOU SO SO MUCH!!

Our experience with C&A and Tyler was as good as it gets. All of our communication the C&A team leading up to our wedding was smooth, easy, and tremendously organized.
Tyler was understanding of our needs, but also willing to run with minimal guidance and control the dance floor. Our venue had a 10pm curfew, which brought us to ask about silent disco, which it turns out Tyler has experience with and encouraged us to pursue. He did an awesome job keeping people moving; the silent disco might have been the highlight of our wedding. Our guests loved it, and we looked like heroes. Many thanks to Tyler and C&A for taking care of audio so confidently and happily on a day when we didn't want to worry about it at all.

Packed Dance Floor All Night!
DJs can make or break a wedding. Our dance floor was packed the. entire. night. thanks to Cage and Aquarium, and specifically DJ Michael Rodriguez. Cage and Aquarium were great to work with-- they were kind, responsive to questions, and flexible in helping us perfect our wedding. Most importantly, we really cannot say enough good things about DJ Michael, he just absolutely nailed our wedding music for our 7/20/19 wedding. His announcing was great, You can tell he loves his job, and he does it exceptionally well. In the aftermath of our wedding, so many of our guests have specifically told us that our DJ was amazing, and we couldn't agree more! We did the wax wedding package, where we had real vinyl during dinner. It was such a cool effect for our Classic Chicago themed wedding. It's so hard to book a DJ, but Cage and Aquarium have "date nights" where many of the DJs perform small samples, and they all have website profiles, so you can pick someone who matches your music taste. We can't say enough good things about Cage and Aquarium and DJ Michael. You will not have to worry about an empty dance floor.

Great Attention to Detail
C&A is a large DJ company, which obviously has it's pros and cons. We were a little worried about it feeling less personal to be assigned a DJ, but they do a really great job of surveying your needs and wants and pairing you with an awesome DJ. We were very specific about who we were looking for in a DJ and C&A delivered.
Our wedding had a few hiccups along the way, but our DJ (Sandra Suave) maneuvered them all night long and still made sure everyone was out on the dance floor. Neither my wife nor I are super music-minded people, but Sandra took care of everything and even gifted us a piece of vinyl from one of our favorite artists! She's the best, and we love the C&A was able to match us up with her. Our only regret was not paying a little extra to have her work our ceremony music as well!

C + A should be your DJ - request Michael!
Michael is hands down the best DJ - definitely worth requesting him to be your DJ for your wedding. Cage and Aquarium were beyond easy to work with, from the initial quote, to their online portal/system, ways to select/rank songs, etc. We also love that you meet your DJ in person leading up to your wedding - this simply helped ensure everything felt streamlined and all set for our wedding day. C + A were NEVER pushy, and we didn't feel they reflected the "ugly" grind of the wedding industry, which we were desperately avoiding during our wedding planning in Chicago. We LOVE they are members of the Green Wedding Alliance - our goal was to have as many vendors that were members as possible to be mindful of the environment, being sustainable and "green." Michael listened to ALL of our requests. Food, booze, and music were our legit top three priorities for our wedding, and Michael met the high bar we expected from him, as everyone raves about him. We noticed our song requests during cocktail hour, as well as dinner, my parents did, his parents, my family and my husband's family LOVED that their song requests were honored during the reception (even the off cuff ones like Spice Girls!). Michael was courteous, fun, and professional. We hope we can find an excuse to hear him DJ again! Use C + A if you want a pain free, budget friendly, amazing music experience - you will not be disappointed.

Put your cheesy DJs fears to rest! Cage and Aquarium has an amazing crew, and they put together "Date Nights" where you can go listen to their DJs spin to get a feeling for who would be the best fit for your wedding.
We were paired with Adam, and we couldn't have been happier! He was so professional and did an amazing job with music all night. He did our ceremony, cocktail hour, reception, and dance floor music. He did a great job helping us find the right music for our ceremony processional and looping it all seamlessly to account for timing. He also kept the dance floor packed and moving! He seemed to know the exact right music to play to keep people partying all night.

In the Venn diagram that is my wife and my musical taste, there is virtually no overlap. With that in mind, we gave Michael the impossible task of DJing our wedding. And he did an amazing job. My wife is very particular about cuts/transitions, and other things i never even notice and she was very impressed by his technical abilities. Over several meetings he took great care to learn about us as a couple and our personalities. He asked questions that got us thinking about the mood and atmosphere we wanted to create, and on the day of the wedding he did a great job reading the room. Michael is passionate about his work and he truly cares about putting on a performance that will make your wedding day special. We are very grateful for his thoughtfulness, his attentiveness and his warm and caring personality. Michael did an exceptional job at our wedding and many guests complimented us on the music and DJ. He was a essential part of our wedding day and we highly recommend his services.

Cage and Aquarium were a dream to work with. They made the whole process so simple, and were so on top of it, I never once had to worry about them. Our dance floor was packed all night, and everyone kept telling us how amazing our DJ was and how well the evening flowed. Truly thankful we were recommended to them. DJ Ed in particular is the best, and I can't thank him enough for his attention to detail, and willingness to collaborate.

Everything was absolutely PERFECT!!!!! The three things we asked for were great music, great food, and for everyone to be dancing. DJ Stack killed it. You gave us everything we asked for and more and kept the dance for lit. Our guests could not stop talking about how amazing the music was. Amazing service and awesome DJ
We loved how our DJ kept everyone out on the dance floor all night long. He listened to us regarding what songs/type of music we did and didn’t want to hear. Everyone we came into contact with at cage and aquarium was super helpful and professional. Our DJ knew how to read the room to make sure everyone was dancing all night. We had so much fun at our reception and that is thanks to our DJ! We would definitely recommend Cage and Aquarium and DJ Mykol to everyone!

C+A was amazing! We were matched with Lexi and could not have been happier with the service she provided. Cage and Aquarium were great to work with and we could not be happier with our DJ, Drew Crutcher. Drew took the time to get to know us and our music style and was able to keep our dance floor packed all night! He was so professional and rolled with it even when the venue staff were running behind. We told him we wanted a party and he delivered! All of our guests said they had never been to a wedding where so many people were dancing! He seamlessly transitioned from each song and his timing was perfect! My husband loves EDM and Drew tactfully wove EDM songs into the night so that even our grandparents were rocking out to Calvin Harris. I hate when a song gets played for too long and loses momentum, from the second we started dancing there was never any down time. Each song hit with the crowd and he read the room so well! If you want a DJ that can actually mix and knows how to pack a dance floor, book with Cage! So happy with our experience and I highly recommend Drew!

Cage and Aquarium impressed us from the very beginning with our first meeting with the manager (his name escapes me). My husband takes pride in his taste in music and wanted to make sure that he'd have plenty of say in the music played. During our first meeting, the manager was very accommodating to our musical requests while tactfully inserting his expertise to make the flow even better.
Lexi was our DJ and I cannot say enough good things about her. She was very knowledgeable, easy to work with, understood the musical feel we wanted during our cocktail hour, dinner, and reception, and executed flawlessly. Lexi even went above and beyond by putting together a mashup of Lady Gaga songs for the reception. She was very professional and thorough - especially in making sure she knew how to pronounce everyone's names in our wedding party. I had a blast with Lexi and definitely recommend her and Cage and Aquarium for your event!

The most difficult vendor to pick for our wedding was the DJ, because we both wanted people packed on the dance floor but it's hard to imagine what a DJ will do in the moment with your crowd of people from all ages. When we asked Cage and Aquarium how they keep people dancing, we loved their answer: they are real DJs who blend the songs together perfectly so a song never "stops". It's beautiful. We even had one guest who asked "how long is this song", not realizing she had danced to about 5 different songs.
From our phone call to our wedding, we felt perfectly at ease with Cage and Aquarium. Our DJ, Ajoyi (DJ Stack), was perfect. She came dressed for the occasion (she easily could have been a guest) and absolutely crushed it. She had the entire dance floor packed until midnight and we had multiple people tell us she should come with us to the after party. Not only was she excellent, professional, easy to work with, and just a great human, she genuinely seemed like she was having fun. She had so much energy the entire night. We had her booked for 6 hours but she kept dancing behind her turntables and singing the songs and having a blast. It was truly a joy to see how much fun she was having. I'd 100% use her again.
We had such a blast and we can't thank Cage and Aquarium and DJ Stack enough. You should absolutely stop searching for DJs and use her.

Everyone at C&A was awesome to work with - from the people we spoke to at the very beginning of our process to Lexi, who helped with all the administrative duties and was extremely organized, to Adam, our DJ, who did a great job emceeing the night, making sure sound was great throughout the venue, and kept the dance floor groovin'! Adam had DJ'd weddings at our venue (A New Leaf) in the past so he was super helpful with recommendations specific to our venue. If you get the chance, we highly recommend attending one of their 'Date Night' events where you can listen to and meet all of C&A DJs.

Hadassah, Jade, and Neville were professional, courteous, and clearly invested in making our Wedding day special. We mentioned what we wanted to get out of the day, and they made sure that was reflected in the music and pictures. No one was intrusive - on our wedding day, the only time we gave direct instruction to Hadassah and Jade was when _we_ wanted to make sure we had all the shots. The reception music was unintrusive, and once the dancing was underway everyone stayed on the floor. The package deal was a great rate in the Chicago area, and we'd recommend anyone consider Cage and Aquarium to be part of their wedding!

After talking with several DJs, we chose to hire Cage + Aquarium for our summer wedding. We could not have made a better choice! We were lucky enough to get paired with Michael Rodriquez (DJ Mykol) for our wedding day. Michael was amazing to work with. He was down-to-earth and extremely personable. You can tell he is passionate about what he does, and he offered up great suggestions and ideas during our meeting leading up to the big day.
On our actual wedding day, we were blown away with DJ Mykol! He provided the music for both our ceremony and reception, which were flawless! The dance floor was packed the entire evening. Michael even used some of the references in the speeches as inspiration for music played later in the night. He did an awesome job taking requests from our guests that went along with our overall preferences and the vibe of the reception. We received many compliments from our guests as well as to how awesome our DJ was. We cannot recommend Cage + Aquarium enough, and if you are lucky enough to work with DJ Mykol, you will completely understand why!

From our first meeting with Michael, we knew we'd hit the wedding DJ jackpot. He was professional and so friendly. It was clear Michael had already spent time learning about our music preferences and our wedding details. He brought such a calming energy to that first meeting, during a normally stressful time in the wedding planning process. We wanted to create a dance floor that felt approachable for all ages and stayed packed all night. Michael went above and beyond to deliver on that! He was attentive to all details and made sure that there was never a lull in the party! In addition to maintaining an epic dance floor, Michael provided such an incredible music selection for our cocktail hour and dinner music. We gave Michael a sense of what we wanted, but honestly, we just put our full trust in his choices and we couldn't have been more pleased with the selection! Throughout the night and after the wedding, we got consistent feedback on how amazing our DJ was and how he played such a unique and fun set of music. From start to finish, the entire process of working with Cage + Aquarium was seamless. We couldn't recommend Cage + Aquarium and Michael more to anyone looking for an amazing DJ/emcee experience!

My husband and I used Cage and Aquarium's DJ service for our wedding just over a month ago. We had a fantastic experience working with them from the get go! Our first meeting was with Tyler and he was nothing but friendly, professional and informative and we were beyond impressed. We met with some other DJ companies before Cage and this was not always the case. A few months after signing with them we were invited to a DJ Showcase at Revolution Brewing where we could watch/listen to a 15 minute showcase of each DJ so we could experience their style and music selection. After this we could submit our preferences for who we wanted out wedding DJ to be. Our wedding DJ was DJ Stack and she was great! She definitely brought down the house and we received ton of compliments from our guests after the wedding on the music selection. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a DJ in Chicago!

Adam Peindl was absolutely superb from the moment we met him at the Cage + Aquarium Date Night to the actual execution of our wedding reception. He was knowledgeable, helpful and, most importantly, kept the dance floor completely full! We had a blast dancing to his chosen songs and we have heard raving reviews from our friends and family. His read of the crowd was spot on the entire time. He even received an encore at the end because no one wanted to leave! We appreciated his professionalism but also the artistic nature of his DJing and recognize that he has truly worked hard on his craft. We love Kevin (DJ KSity). He was absolutely amazing. He got our taste in music right away, the night of execution was spot on and he gave us the gift of having Erik's mother's recording cleaned up so we can enjoy it and could use it in the wedding. He was flexible, he answered all my questions and listened to all of my suggestions and was just fantastic.
But even before we met Kevin, we met with Mike, who was absolutely wonderful and informative about the services. He helped us understand what we would be getting and what we needed to think about for a DJ. The DJ selection process was helpful and all the staff, including Alexa and Shelley, just completed the package. I would highly recommend Cage and Aquarium to anyone. The services were outstanding.

Michael Rodriguez was our DJ and he was AMAZING! Everyone was giving us compliments on the music during the wedding and still do now months later. Shelley Anderson was our main contact there and she was so helpful. The entire staff is laid back, friendly, helpful and responsive. ASK FOR MICHAEL RODRIGUEZ. Of all wedding planning decisions, hiring a wedding dj was something we spent the most time with. The music makes the party and we wanted the perfect blend of traditions, dancing, fun, and the groom's fav music. Michael rose above and beyond what we asked. He volunteered to meet us for additional meetings when he could see how concerned we were with the music. He was a rockstar with communications and assistance. And on the day of he was amazing. Everyone adored him from my grandma (she gushed it was the best wedding music she had ever heard) to our friends who rocked out.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about our experience with Janelle Allen and Cage and Aquarium. When planning a wedding or any big event, the best advice we can offer is hire the pros and trust them to do the work and do it well. Never could something be more accurate than with Janelle and the Cage and Aquarium Team who were a dream come true from start to finish.
My spouse was a DJ in a former life, so the expectations were high. After interviewing a dozen vendors, once we met the Cage and Aquarium Team, we knew they were the best in the business. One of the best things they do is "date night" where you go and watch all the "potential" DJs perform and you get to see the "full package" instead of being "assigned" someone that may not fit your style.
Janelle, DJ BlkBrd, is hands down not only a dynamic and fantastic DJ, but a first-class pro. She is skilled at making you feel comfortable and in control of her craft when in her company. On the day of, Janelle arrived in plenty of time and got everything set up without any issue, and delivered perfectly on all of our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception music. Our main goal was to have everyone on the dance floor all night, and Janelle made that happen. We even got a spotify playlist of the wedding- how amazing is that!
Thanks again for providing first-class service. With one of the biggest days of our lives and such a huge action packed event, we feared that we would not be able to stop and take it all in and the day would soon fade from our memories. However, you truly captured the essence of our day and who we are as a couple with all our favorite melodies. When we hear them today, and for many years to come, they will bring smiles to our faces.

My husband and I used Cage and Aquarium's DJ services for our wedding (specifically DJ Jake, whose handle is DJ Pickle, which I kept meaning to ask him the origin story of and never got around to doing!). After our initial meeting with Tyler we felt pretty confident that C&A would be able to provide just the type of DJ services we wanted, and we couldn't be happier that we went with them.
We had some very specific songs we wanted to hear, including a playlist for the cocktail hour, and Jake was receptive to all of that, and asked plenty of questions to fill in the blanks of what kind of music we wanted to hear. He even offered to send us the final playlist he would assemble a few days prior to the wedding, which he did, and with the exception of a couple of tracks (which he easily nixed when I asked him to) he knocked it out of the park.
On the day of, Jake arrived in plenty of time and got himself set up without any issue, and delivered perfectly on all of our ceremony, cocktail hour, dinner, and reception music. Our main goal was to have everyone on the dance floor all night, and Jake made that happen.
The only minor hiccup came when it was time for toasts. We were under the impression that there would be two mics: one for the DJ and one for the toasters. But there was only one mic, so once the toaster had it in hand, there wasn't one for the DJ to use to announce them. It wasn't a big deal and I don't think anyone other than my husband and I (who choreographed the whole night) even noticed, and once we realized Jake didn't have a mic, we just signaled for our toaster to go ahead and start speaking, and it was all fine. But if you're going to rely on C&A for mic services, just double check that you'll have the number you need.
All in all, we were thrilled with C&A and Jake and would highly recommend them to keep your party moving!

We booked Cage & Aquarium for both our wedding DJ AND photographer, after being happy to learn that doing both came with a nice discount (and just made things really easy). They knocked it out of the park on both counts. Our DJ, Cooper, was the perfect match for us musically and was an expert at being responsive to the needs and wants of the dance floor to keep things going. Our photographer, Hadassah, and her assistant Jade, took so many incredible shots that we're finding it impossible to pick just a few for an album. They even sent a USB with all the pics inside an adorable little album-like case, printed with some of our best portraits. C&A is all about the thoughtful details, responsiveness, and top-notch work. I can't recommend them highly enough for both DJ and photog services.

My husband and I hired Cage & Aquarium for our DJ service for our recent wedding and they definitely did not disappoint! We were drawn to this company because they use actual mixing and have professional DJs from their school, Scratch Academy. After signing our contract, we were actually able to hear their DJs perform in a party atmosphere and see their style. We choose Chris and we was an excellent match for us and the style of wedding we planned. He was on the same page as us throughout the whole process, and was easy to communicate with. He kept our dance floor packed the ENTIRE reception. Literally until the last song. We have been to several weddings, and I've never seen such an epic dance party at a wedding. So many of our friends (and even other vendors!) commented on this too and how well our DJ read the crowd. We would highly recommend Cage and Aquarium for any DJ service if you want to host an awesome party!

I cannot say enough about how AMAZING Cage and Aquarium was for our wedding! We got them from a recommendation from my friends/cousins wedding. We decided to go with both photography and dj and could not have been happier! They give a nice discount if you book with both. Shelley is head of photography and her husband, Tyler, is the head of the music part of the company. They were fantastic to talk with and work with! Let's start with the music, they have you take a survey so they can make sure they match you with the right dj for your event, and they know their stuff because they matched us with Adam and he was AWESOME!!! We met a couple of times, he got to know us, our vibe, and knew exactly what we wanted, and it was great. We got so many compliments about the music from our wedding, he was great! I am Greek, so part of the wedding needed to have Greek music, and he played it like he's been doing it forever. He did an amazing job mixing traditional Greek music with top 40/fun dance songs, we never wanted the party to stop!
Shelley hooked us up with Eva as our lead photographer, and Shelley was also there as the second photographer. They were fantastic! They took amazing photos, had great ideas for locations and we could not be happier with the end product. Aside from the staged pictures we took before and right after the ceremony, a nice thing was that we didn't even notice that they were there, we were able to enjoy our evening and have amazing photos to remember the night. Our style was more photo journalistic, we just wanted them to capture as many natural moments as possible, and they definitely did! I couldn't believe that they do a standard 10 hours of photography on the day of the wedding, and then you can add on more hours if you need. If we didn't get married on New Years Eve, then the 10 hours would have been plenty, but we were able to add on a few more and it worked out great. I highly, highly recommend working with C&A!!!

Working with Cage & Aquarium was a very enjoyable experience. We hired them both for photography and deejay services. When we met with Shelley, one of the co-owners of the company, we knew we wanted to hire them. I cannot say enough great things about Shelley. She is well-organized, a great communicator, and has a great ease about her which just makes everything seem so effortless and easy—it’s exactly what you want when planning a wedding. We selected Shelley as our main photographer and Chris Triche as our deejay and we were very pleased with both of them.
On the photography front, we did both engagement photos and our wedding photos with Shelley. Jade was the second shooter on our wedding day. Our engagement photos turned out really great and we can’t wait to receive our wedding photos next month! Not only was Shelley able to capture beautiful posed shots, but she also captured some special moments when I didn’t even know we were being photographed. Some of those turned out to be my favorite photos!
We picked Chris because we saw him perform at one of C&A's deejay showcases. We knew he was the one for us based on the music he played that night. Chris really took the time to get to know us and our musical tastes and it reflected in the music for our cocktail hour, dinner, and reception. We got compliments from both our younger friends and older relatives alike. One of my friends even said she wanted to sit down and take a break, but every song he played was so good, she just had to keep dancing!
Probably the best part aside from the music was Chris's ability to keep the event moving and keeping things on time. He knew when we needed to do the various things like our speeches, cutting the cake, etc. and was so great about letting us know without being pushy. He was truly a professional. We didn't have one worry the entire night which is really great because we were able to enjoy ourselves.
We highly recommend Cage & Aquarium!

I am a Wedding Planner with Storybook Weddings and Events here in Chicago. I had a wedding this past October and Kevin Sity was the DJ for our couple. The couple was Korean, and had a Paebaek ceremony in the middle of dinner service. Kevin did a great job working with the different moving elements of the evening and being flexible when needed. Cage & Aquarium is where it is at!! We went with Cody. If you are trying to decide between Cody and someone else, stop wasting your time and go with Cody! You will not find a better DJ in Chicago. We met with him and discussed our music taste and sent him a long list of songs. Unlike other DJ's in the area he artistically included everything we could wish for. What else could you want in a DJ but to listen to you and then make it amazing with his talents? I was super impressed with him all night and he even did a few remixes with some of our favorite songs that we will remember for a lifetime! Seriously, the DJ is the backbone of your wedding and you do not want to mess it up. Go with Cody. He did great from the first song of the ceremony all the way through the reception. Bravo and I thank him for helping to make our wedding the best day of our lives.

We had a great experience with Cage & Aquarium for our November wedding! Shelley and Tyler were friendly and easy to work with in the beginning stages of consultation and booking, and once we met our matched DJ (Chris), we were so excited to work with him for our big day! He was so friendly and professional, and we were impressed when he mentioned he was going to stop by our venue to check it out prior to the wedding, as he had never been there before. He handled the speeches and first dances well, and kept our boisterous group dancing the whole night. Thanks again, Chris, for a fun night we won't forget!

Tyler took great care of us! We were lucky enough to book Tyler for our big day this past October and couldn't have been more pleased. We threw a lot of logistics at Tyler that day - live music, many speeches, an organized dance and he handled it all brilliantly. He also introduced us to a few music options we hadn't heard of that worked really well while people filed into our venue. Also our dance floor was packed the entire time! We can thank Tyler for reading the crowd correctly and picking great songs to keep everyone moving. He's a real pro and you'll be in great hands if you work with Tyler for your wedding.

WOW! Cage and Aquarium was professional, helpful, and absolutely amazing every step of the wedding planning process. We used Cage and Aquarium for both our photography and DJ services because they were a preferred vendor of our venue, and wow am I thankful for that! Not only did booking both services through them give us a discount, it also made the planning process so much easier because I had one contact for both services. The initial sit-down with Shelley, the General Manager put me at ease for the rest of the planning process. She was organized and open, and answered any and all of our questions. Shelley was quick to response via email, and always available to solve issues when we had situations arise. There are not enough positive words to describe how amazing our photographers were! Our photographers, Katie and Hadassah, were (one of) my favorite parts of the entire wedding day! Both ladies arrived on time, professional, and excited to be a part of the big day. After the wedding, Shelley and the whole team at Cage and Aquarium have been very responsive, and even sent us a sneak peek of our pictures so that we could order Thank You Cards. I would recommend any and all brides looking for a relaxed, professional, caring and organized company for their photography services! I never felt like just another bride to them, and I thank Cage and Aquarium for making our wedding day the dream I always imagined! Our DJ, Sandra was amazing! I still have guests telling me how perfect the music was during the reception. Our meeting with Sandra before the wedding gave us time to discuss likes and get a good vibe of how the whole day would go. Sandra did a site visit before the wedding to make sure she was familiar with the venue. We had plans fall through last minute for live music for our ceremony, and Sandra stepped in to do our ceremony and worked with the groom for specific clips of songs he wanted for the ceremony! Overall Sandra was the perfect addition to our wedding!

From each step in the process, C&A was professional, timely and fun to work with. Their process for finding you DJ match was great and we got along with him (Cody) very well. They not only listen to your requests but also make great suggestions when you may not know what is best. On the day of the wedding, Cody was timely and extremely helpful throughout the ceremony and reception. The vibe was great during dinner and he kicked it off when it was time to dance. Before the wedding I was worried because I wasn’t really sure if our guests would be up for dancing but Cody made sure everyone was on the dance floor having a great time. We would definitely recommend C&A to anyone looking for DJ services for their wedding! (Married Oct 2016)

Our vendor first recommended us to Cage + Aquarium, and then we got to meet them at a wedding event (Wedtoberfest - so fun, you should go!). After meeting with their head DJ (Tyler) and two other potential companies, it was an easy choice. I really appreciated the chance to hear multiple DJs at one of their events, but we knew from the get-go that we wanted Tyler. Luckily, he was available to work our wedding!
Tyler's enthusiasm regarding our music choices was so great. And he was able to take our ideas and bring them to life the day of our wedding. Not only that, we had numerous compliments on the music that was played throughout the evening. Everything was perfect!

Cage and Aquarium are fabulous! They were the second vendor we picked after our venue. We first decided to book Kristin as our photographer and then, after the excellent and personalized conversations with Shelley, decided that we wanted Cage and Aquarium for our dj. We were matched with Tyler and felt that he really took the time to figure out what kind of music we wanted to hear on our wedding day. They asked so many detailed questions (photography and dj) and helped us make determinations about our first dance and other special songs. Kristin was a fabulous photographer and very efficient! I'm very pleased and cannot wait to see the finalized pictures!

Our experience with Cage and Aquarium was absolutely wonderful. We contracted with them for both photography and DJ services, which was an incredible value for us and helped us stay within our budget. Shelley was our lead photographer and she was so incredibly patient and responsive to all of our needs. We had a complicated wedding with two ceremonies in one day, but Shelley was completely on top of being where she needed to be to capture all of the most important moments for us. We also had Dan as our DJ for our ceremony and reception, and he was an absolute pleasure to work with. He got everybody up and dancing, and I ended up having such a blast at my own wedding! Would absolutely recommend the entire Cage and Aquarium team!

To sum up our experience with Cage and Aquarium…Perfection.
Top tier quality for an affordable price…C&A was amazing!
DJ- initially hesitant because not paired until very close to the wedding. But TRUST US, they went out of their way to accommodate our requests for a specific type of DJ…and Justin (Select Inverse) met all those requirements! C&A helped us fine tune our musical choices for the night by providing us with numerous potential play list ideas, along with their very in depth request/matching sheet. The DJ was one of the most important aspects to our wedding for my wife and I…the process couldn’t have been more perfect. Justin’s music choices were flawless throughout the cocktail hour/dinner and the dance floor was literally packed the whole night, never an awkward or dull moment just like we had requested. We even had a strict ‘no requests’ policy and he stuck to that to a ‘T’, probably when a lesser quality DJ would have buckled under the pressure of numerous drunkards’ requests. We had nothing but compliments on our DJ and are very grateful for all that Justin did for us!
Photography- Couldn’t have been happier with how organized/professional Shelley was on our wedding day…and the results…WOW! Very accommodating with requests we made prior to the big day, quick to respond to communications, organized and professional, and did amazing work! More importantly, she understood we had a budget and did everything in her power to stay within that. It rained, but Shelley had us well prepared with back-up photo locations! We are so thankful we landed Shelley as our photographer and she was worth every penny...plus some! She also did an amazing job on our photo album! Thanks again Shelley!
They are rated so highly on every website for a reason. BOOK them! They were the perfect combination of experience, quality, and affordability.

Our experience with Cage & Aquarium was nothing short of awesome. We worked with Tyler, who was friendly and professional from day one. We heard him spin at several wedding events around town and knew we had to work with him based on his sound. Such a perfect mix of music for a wedding -- across genres and eras, and so unique to us. He even went an extra mile to be sure that our introduction song was exactly how we wanted it (required some track splicing on the back end). We are so appreciative to Tyler and the entire C&A team for everything they did to make our day just perfect.

This review is way too long overdue - Ed from Cage and Aquarium DJ'd our December wedding and we still have people telling us what a fantastic job he did. In fact, my new brother-in-law who sings with a popular Chicago wedding band, has told us that Ed was one of the best DJs he'd ever seen. He read the room perfectly the entire night, from cocktail hour through dinner and then got our dance floor hopping right up till the very end. Even when he finished his set, people were still cheering for more. We also had him DJ our pre-ceremony and ceremony music and he did an awesome job with that, especially since we never rehearsed the timing.
Also, I'm what you would call a "Type A" bride if you were being polite. I swear, I must have emailed Ed about 60 times in the weeks leading up to the wedding with music requests, concerns, and timing notes. Not only did Ed respond to every email promptly and professionally, he went out of his way to make sure we had the exact music we were looking for and that all the songs we had requested fit the vibe of our party. He definitely helped make our wedding one of the best nights of our lives and a great night for our guests.

Martin with Cage & Aquarium DJed our wedding on 12.13.14. He did a wonderful job! We had a relatively small wedding, so we wanted to make sure that we played music that everyone would like and dance to. He absolutely nailed it! We couldn't have been happier.
The planning process was easy and smooth and the entire C&A staff was willing to help and answer any of our questions.
Martin did such a great job that a few couples in attendance at our wedding are hoping to use C&A for theirs.
