John was such a detail-oriented photographer. He was very punctual, and his work is truly professional. He photographed my wedding, and we are so happy we chose him for the occasion. Surprise Proposal
I asked John to capture a surprise proposal and it went perfect!! She had no clue and was completely surprised, photos confirm this, he stayed hidden and still captured beautiful photos!! He made suggestions to make it more special and was responsive the whole time. Can not recommend him enough!!

10/19/24 wedding
we had John do our wedding photos and so glad we did. I found him on one of the Facebook bride pages and he was within my budget. His work was beautiful on his portfolios. The day of he arrived on time, I think maybe early even, and went straight in to work on all the detail shots. With his services, you will answer a detailed questionnaire of all the shots you want ahead of time. So it was not complete chaos when the group photos came up after the ceremony. The wedding party got to actually enjoy cocktail hour. We are not the type of people that love to have pics taken, but John made us feel at ease. All the guests said he was great too. Definitely recommend him to anyone looking for a wedding photographer.

Love this Photographer
I came across the Blue Media Works Photography website while I was searching online for a photographer. I began my search by choosing vendors with photographs I liked best and then narrowed down my search by price.
I was impressed with John’s online photographs and intrigued with his five star ratings on all media outlets. His pricing was beyond reasonable for the services to be offered.
In my first (online) interaction with John, I could tell that he had a great personality, which I feel is very important when working with a vendor. He thoroughly answered all of my question in a timely manner and made me feel comfortable in trusting him with my engagement and wedding photography.

John is absolutely the best photographer you could ever have. He is incredibly professional, replied to every message right away and with a courteous and clear response. He worked with me to find a package that fit my budget and needs. John was absolutely outstanding on wedding day. He knows exactly where to be and what to say to capture the moment. He listened and understood our vision for the photography and totally matched my energy. I usually hate photos and get antsy for them to be over but even the posed portrait session was laid back and quick and John got all the shots. He made us and our guests feel relaxed in front of the camera and he fixed little details like sleeves, veil, bra straps, hair, and ties without it feeling fussy. The candid photos of the reception and ceremony are also wonderful, I don’t know how he managed to be everywhere at once but he didn’t miss a thing and I was able to interact with our guests without being distracted by photographs. The photos are incredible, rich and beautiful and I know we will cherish them forever.

I have been a church wedding coordinator. I have worked with many photographers. Some have been excellent. John was an amazing photographer to work with for our wedding. Although he is based in the Houston area, he was willing to travel to Austin to take family/wedding photos. He was flexible and understanding when we made changes to the timeline due to the pandemic. He arrived early and worked very well with the two young kids we had in our group. Since we had extra time, he offered to take bridal portraits, which I wasn't expecting, but very much appreciated. The photos were delivered online within 7 business days and they turned out great! My husband and I reach out to Blue Media in 2019 for wedding photography and they definitely did not disappoint. We were ever so lucky to work with John and there are not nearly enough words to describe how amazing and caring he was throughout the whole process. Even when we were postponed a year he was still super supportive. When it came down to our wedding day John was more than we expected. He not only took the best photos but he also took care of us when we needed it most. Like any other wedding day things go wrong and when that happened John was right there to make sure we were ok and was almost like our second coordinator or even family. John Squyres was absolutely amazing. I would highly recommend him for any wedding! We got married at Oak Tree Manor and he was incredibly easy to communicate with throughout our planning (even though we planned our wedding during a national pandemic AND while living in another state!). He checked in on us during dinner and was incredibly organized. He was early and even stayed late. John had wonderful suggestions for photos and he was QUICK about getting shots- especially ones with grandparents and kids in the Texas heat! He was so personable and easy to work with. Where do I start?! John was beyond amazing! If this review could reach everyone in the Houston area I would want everyone to read this and meet the team! John went above and beyond and he made our wedding the most beautiful and memorable day. I could not thank John enough for the great work he did for our special day. We had a wedding at Kemah Boardwalk on a private Yacht and did a small ceremony at the beach house. He captured the moment very eloquently and words cannot do justice to the captivating images we got from John. John walked us through the day and he made time for us, his professionalism speaks volumes. He gave us moments during the day to give us a breathers and really listened to our needs. Anytime we e-mailed him a question/concern he was quick to answer. Throughout the whole day he was very professional while also being very friendly and offering lots of great suggestions. He made sure he fully understood our timeline, something our wedding coordinator failed to do. She had forgotten we wanted to do the shoe game during our reception like we had discussed. John came up to us and asked if we had decided to skip it because he was unsure as to why we hadn't done it yet. If it weren't for John keeping up with the schedule we would have missed our chance to play the shoe game entirely. By the end of the wedding we basically felt like he was a friend of ours, he was so easy to work with. Upon looking at the photos we were blown away by the hundreds and hundreds of beautiful photos he took. It has been extremely hard to choose my favorites because they are so great! I truly don't have a single negative thing to say about John and 100% recommend him and Blue Media Works Photography.

Excellent Engagement Photos!
We had the pleasure of working with John Squyres for our engagement photos! My dad paid for an hour shoot as a wedding gift. We had a blast! They are the best!
Our wedding pictures are amazing! Eric and John were so nice and patient with us and they even helped out with things that weren't photo related. I am so thankful I was able to get such great photos at an affordable price. My brother was originally going to be my wedding photographer and videographer, but a couple months before the wedding, my brother decided he could only one and not both. John is so professional, easy to work with, responsive and flexible. When asked to adjust the hours of service he did not hesitate at all. On the day of the wedding he was there early and very clear with his instructions or guidance while taking his beautiful pictures. He even talked to the next wedding party that was in a rush to put their decorations to wait awhile while we were still taking pictures. He also took some city shots and roof top shots of us which were amazing. In the reception even when he was not done eating he gladly took pictures for us as requested. John Squyres was one of the many blessings at our wedding, I am so happy we chose him. In addition to being a fantastic photographer, he is one of the kindest people I've met. He showed up early, even though our wedding was on a Friday evening and probably not easy to get to; when he arrived, he started to quietly take pictures, capturing so many details unbeknownst to me. He knew what to do and took many pictures before the wedding started. He gave guidance without ever being pushy. Our wedding was the most beautiful night of my life, but one part of our story is not traditional, my husband and I had our daughter before we got to have our wedding, and the plan was that our 3 year old would be the flower girl. When the evening came, she didn't want to leave my side and was holding on to me like a koala for pretty much all of the ceremony. At one point after the ceremony, John asked if my husband and I could come over to the side where some arching oak trees were. We walked over and he was able to get some pictures of just the two of us underneath the trees (I'm so glad he asked us to do this). Then at the reception, he asked if there were any more I wanted (luckily he thought of them because I couldn't, your wedding night is a whirlwind). A day or two later, I became concerned that we might not have had pictures that captured the two of us because of how things had went with our toddler, she wanted to be held the whole time. John and I talked and he relieved my concerns, he sent the pictures and they were stunning! I cried when I saw them. There were so many amazing pictures. If he can capture incredible joy and beauty in the middle of toddler moments, he can do just about anything. He is very gifted. And the reason we chose him? Because in addition to having 5 star reviews, he is affordable and was within our budget. Thank you John for making your photography attainable; you're bringing joy to many families and giving us keepsakes for a lifetime.

Honestly there are not enough words to describe how blessed we were to have someone as amazing as John Squyres capture every special moment of our Engagement, Bridal, and Wedding pictures! From beginning to end it was a pleasure working with him. He made booking appointments very easy, and had tons of suggestions if asked, whether it was photo locations, or time of day, etc. This was both of our first times doing any kind of photo shoots and he always made us feel comfortable and we had fun with it! The day of the wedding could not have gone any smoother, and John was such a big part in that. He was always within eyesight and noticed very small details that made for better pictures. John was very organized and willing to work with our timeline. We were very limited on time with outdoor lighting after the ceremony and he made sure to capture all our formal pictures as well as our special requests. He worked incredibly well with our videographer, and even made sure the videographer was able to get all the shots he wanted as well. We were thrilled to be sent 1000+ photos in such a short turn around time. On top of that we were blown away by the quality the pictures had from beginning to end of our special day! I had my engagement photos and traditional African wedding photos with John. Photos were lovely. John is very nice, patient, thorough and with great eye for details. His pricing was very reasonable and got all my pictures in one week.
John goes above and beyond to ensure you have a great time, you are not stressed. First off, we never had any experience with booking photographers or setting up anything that puts us in the limelight. We are wallflowers through and through. So, initially I thought we wouldn't photograph well. As soon as I met John I knew those fears were baseless. He was very polite and punctual and he made us both feel at ease. If he didn't have the camera, he could have easily been mistaken as a dear family friend. He helped us with posing and effortlessly put us up on the center stage of our wedding day. He was very flexible with time and I deeply appreciate that. It's rare that you meet people with passion in what they do, but you clearly see it with John. I am in awe with how the photos turned out. First of all, about one month before the wedding our previous photographer had backed out. We were lucky to come across Blue Media Works on WeddingWire. John was quick to respond and easily extinguished our panic. He was very responsive, arrived on time, and was very flexible! Our DIY wedding on the beach was a little uncoordinated, but John and Eric just went with the flow. The short version: John Squyres is someone you want to hire to capture those special moments; not only is he an amazing photographer but also an amazing person.
The longer version: For those brides who wants amazing pictures, John Squyres is the photographer for you. I wish there were 10 stars for John because he deserves all of them. We met a few other photographers prior to finding John and they were either not a good fit for us (uncomfortable meetings) or outrageously priced.
We set-up a meeting with John and as soon as we met him we knew he was the person we were looking for. His humbling demeanor and ability to make us just feel comfortable was a plus for us; he actually listened to what we wanted and provided ideas. We booked him inmediately after our meeting - is important to note that to reserve our date it was only $10!
John also did our engagement session and was very adaptable. Our photos were supposed to be done outside but it was raining so bad that we decided to do our photos in our apartment (note, John arrived an hour before to just monitor the weather - he truly cares!). The photos were amazing and he didn't even have a problem with including out fur baby in the pictures. Although, we were excited with our engagement photos (which looked straight out of a magazine), but then our wedding photos were done and exceeded our expectations! The photos were breathtaking and here is the best part, we received over 1000 photos exactly one week from our wedding date - the turn around time is truly incredible. The wedding day was a long one and John was there for it all - 7 plus hours with a smile on his face. He didn’t even bother staying a little extra to capture our fireworks show, which I told him of the day of the wedding. He captured every special moment of the day; during the entire time John was within eyesight which made it so easy to take pictures with family and friends.

John did a great job capturing all of our special moments. It felt like he really enjoyed the time he spend with us; his energy and excitement was phenomenal! We asked for several different groups of people to be photographed with us. It was a big part of our celebration and we appreciate the time he took to get all of the special group photos we wanted. John was just simply AMAZING! He was extremely informative with any question I had for him and responded very quickly. The day of the wedding he worked very fast and smoothly. He listened to what we wanted and made it happen! Very easy going and open to any suggestions for poses/photos. The photos themselves....there are just no words to describe. He did a wonderful job capturing the moments throughout the night. I would definitely recommend Blue Media Works to ANYONE!

John is the best photographer ever!! He was booked thru our wedding coordinator Precious with Precious Nuptials & Destinations.
He did our wedding photography on June 12, 2015 in Galveston on the beach. He was very patient with us and also helped us with our 81 yr old Grandmother who wanted to witness our wedding on the beach. We got great family photos as well as pictures of the whole wedding ceremony. He was very creative in many of his shots including having us go under the Pleasure Pier to take pics with our rings on a piece of driftwood. I love every shot! We will be getting many pictures enlarged for family and also our home!
Thank you John for making our special day so memorable. We will treasure these pictures forever!!

John with BlueMediaWorks did an amazing job with the photography for our wedding. He communicated with me before the wedding day to confirm all the details and get a feel for the style and type of photos we wanted. When I arrived at the chapel John was waiting outside, helped me out of the car, adjusted my veil and told me that everything was going to be great. His calm demeanor instantly helped me relax and enjoy the rest of my wedding day.
The ceremony photos are lovely- John was able to capture everything I wanted as it was happening during the service. My entire family said how nice he was and they appreciated that he was able to get our large and rambunctious group through the formal photos efficiently. After the ceremony, John took us (bride and groom) out onto one of the Seawall jetties took shots on the beach. These beach photos are my absolute favorite- the energy around us and the waves in the background are just breathtaking.
Our wedding photos were already online when we got back from our honeymoon. Our friends and family have all loved seeing the pictures from our big day so soon after the wedding and everyone has said how beautiful they are. Working with BlueMediaWorks was an absolute pleasure.

He was amazing! Throughout the wedding he took beautiful pictures, but we never felt like he was ever in the way. He would show us the picture he just took to make sure we were happy with it. He was also very helpful throughout the night. He would make sure I had everything I needed and helped me in any way he could. We got our pictures rather quickly after our wedding as well. I'm extremely happy that we chose blue media for our photography.

John was great! He very patiently put up with my wild bunch of wedding guests and crafted some very lovely photos. He seemed very flexible about the post wedding shots (and the wrangling of different guests for group photos) and stepped in to direct when needed and backed off when needed. He'd also patiently let my professional photographer friend also step in and take pictures occasionally.
I really loved how our pictures turned out. I don't think I'm photogenic, but he let me pretend for a day. ;)
He distributes his photos online and also via a disc. I would recommend John to anyone looking for a wedding photographer.

John photographed our elopement in Galveston, TX. He was amazing, so personable but relaxed, very go with the flow. He had some creative ideas. We especially appreciate him carrying my jacket and purse all over the strand for us while taking pics on the Strand. :) He even posted some pics that same evening for us on facebook so we could share with friends and family. He really helped turn our elopement into a special celebration even though it was just the two of us. I love looking at our pictures and seeing the exact moment we were married and all the fun afterwards! Thanks John!

Jordan did our wedding photos on very short notice - we had a private ceremony so we booked Blue Media for just two hours about five days in advance, and Jordan was fantastic. He was flexible, approachable and very professional, as well as being pleasant to chat to and amenable to hanging around because our celebrant was late! We received our proofs within minutes of paying the balance on our account, and the disk with our photos appeared promptly several days later. I would most definitely recommend Blue Media and specifically Jordan to anyone for their wedding pics. Neither of us enjoys being photographed and he managed to produce many really lovely shots of us. Highly, highly recommended.

The first time we met John he drove all the way out to Dayton for us. He stayed with us the entire day to get a full understanding of what we expected. The actual wedding day, I didn't feel bombarded with a camera in my face from him or Jordon. He made it an extremely lax environment for everyone. Family members wanted their share of pictures as well, being the sweet guy he is John stepped back and let everyone have their turn.
Our pictures look absolutely amazing. My husband wore a navy tuxedo and the way he made the blue more vibrant in our pictures left us in awe. John and Jordon were a joy to work with. I feel so blessed to have had them on our side to capture all of the crazy moments of our day. Blue Media Works has everything you are looking for; dedication, approachability, attention to detail, AFFORDABLE...they are fantastic!

The spot he suggested for the formal pictures (wedding party and family) was perfect. The color contrast made the photos AMAZING! John is a true professional.
