User2008051 Sent on 01/13/2015If you're looking for a place with wonderful customer service and great quality jewelry, come here! I came in without any knowledge and needed to start doing research on what kind of rings I like. I always assumed I wanted something extremely small and non-existent and that engagement rings was an unnecessary tradition for me. Rose, a wonderful Bert Levi team member, really helped me realize that it's actually pleasant to have and that it's not just this frilly tradition. She kindly and patiently explained everything to me without overwhelming me. I think this is the most important thing - some places can really push you to like you something that isn't you, but this company really wants you to fall in love with jewelry that best exemplifies who you are.
They have a great display of jewelry and a ridiculous amount of beautiful options. Rose let me have fun and let me look and try on over the top rings that I would never actually consider, but it was fun to just try. I really appreciate this – she wanted this to be an incredibly fun experience for me and nothing less than that.
I highly recommend this store to anyone and everyone in the area. It’s worth it! -
User2005984 Sent on 01/12/2015My girlfriend and I came across this little gem of a store while shopping at Horton Plaza. We went in to get some questions answered for various reasons, and we came away with many of them answered. Some of these questions weren't so much literal. My girlfriend and I tend to have different tastes in jewelry. On top of that, neither of us have much experience with high-end jewelry. So I wanted to get a better feel for what she liked, engagement-ring-wise. There were a great assortment of rings in this little neat shop. The saleswoman was super cool and very laid-back -- in a good way. There was no pressure, no pushy-carsalesman feel to the experience. She understood we were taking our first steps in the process and knew there would be one or two, if not many more, visits before I would be ready to fork over thousands of dollars. She had great advice for us newbies. We also came away with a lot of great bits of information. She knew her stuff and it's evident, from the mom-and-pop feel, that jewelry is in their bones. It's not like you're talking to someone who got a quick tutorial or rundown on what to say without knowing "what" they're saying, or, more importantly, why. She offered a lot of info that definitely helped us narrow down our likes and dislikes, efficiently and without a lot of disagreement between us. Would have liked to see more variety though, but can't argue much when this boutique pacts as much offerings as it does into its displays.

Thomas Sent on 01/25/2015To be honest this isn't about a wedding but an engagement to hopefully later turn into a beautiful marriage. I am going to propose to my 3 yr girlfriend 8 year friend, love of my life on my birthday this year. I don't think she expects this or expects me to be able to step up that much in my life, but I walked in here on a whim an was blown away with thinking that the prices were going to be astronomically higher and the people working there were really good with working with me not pushy or anything, very understanding. I am making sure I am making the right decision because this is not only my life im talking about but my best friends too. Well I am not writing this to just be a joker about the service literally they are in touch with me when i ask them too and not being over the top about any of it. I feel relaxed about it now. I was tense when i first went in there but now...I feel more confident and really good about the whole thing. I will be using them because i think i have seen the one I want ... leaning between a vintage one and a new one.. going to make the choice soon because I feel even more in love now! - Tom -
User2010212 Sent on 01/15/2015I had done very little engagement ring research on my own prior to stopping by Bert Levi's to give it a shot. All I knew was that I didn't want anything like what my friends and family members have. I want the ring I wear everyday to be unique and to represent my personality and style. The saleswoman understood that sentiment fully and spent time getting to know my particular likes and dislikes. She also educated me on specifics about band type and size and diamond cut, color, and clarity. I could tell she had worked with many ladies in my shoes before and really knew how to make the process fun and stress-free. They have a large selection of all sorts of rings, which was great because the one I ended up loving was actually not really what I had in mind to begin with. Trying on a large selection helped me learn more about what I want in a ring. I took photos and I'll definitely be back to continue the process. -
User2007362 Sent on 01/13/2015This store has such a “homey” feel to it. It is a family owned store and you can definitely feel that upon arrival. It is small and quant and has a good friendly vibe. I was greeted by Gloria who is absolutely the sweetest. I was scared to try on rings but she encouraged me to stating that you will never know what you like until you try the ring on. She allowed me to try on about 10-15 rings and assisted me with all the 21+ questions I had! She made me feel comfortable and assured me none of my questions were “dumb”. I loved the selection that had- from vintage style to more modern, they seemed to have something that would fit everyones’ taste. I definitely recommend coming to this quiet, cute spot and getting assisted in getting the perfect piece of jewelry for you or for your loved one! -

Sarah Sent on 12/27/2014When my fiancé and me were shopping for rings, we went to about twenty jewelers and just started eliminating them. We even drove up to LA and checked out some places there. We kept talking about the jewelers who were left and this one kept coming up because they were helpful. You know when a store seems helpful but they really are selling to you. That wasn’t like them. They were really trying to help us find what we wanted.
We ended up getting a semi-mount from them and our diamond somewhere else but they didn’t give us and hassle about not buying both of them from them. In fact, they still helped us with the mounting and they still offer cleaning and polishing and the rest of their free services. We’re going to have them do the wedding rings, too, and my band is going match my engagement ring.
I love showing off the ring! Even though I got the diamond someowhere else, people always comment on the ring part. (It does have little diamonds along the band about halfway on either side.) The people were really friendly, and I think I’ve stopped by the store about five times. Everyone always remembers me and wants me to show my ring and talk about my fiancé and what we’re doing. I tell them about how we’re going to go to our honeymoon in Prince Edward Island and they want me to send them pictures. I feel like they’re my friends and not like I’m just a customer.
We’re going to start nailing down the designs for the wedding bands in a few weeks, and I know that they’re going to do a great job. I think you should get your engagement rings here when you need engagement rings.

These rings will be with us a lifetime so we really wanted to be sure to find what we wanted. A friend had shopped at Bert Levi and raved about the service and attention to their needs and desires. Thank goodness all they said was true! We were delighted with the huge selection and how Bert and his wife Gloria and staff went out of their way to really listen and gently guide us into finding the perfect rings within our budget. Do yourself a favor and visit Bert Levi before you buy anywhere else! You'll be happy you did like we are :) Paul and Kimberly

This family owned business stands out at Horton Plaza because of their service and wide variety of price ranges, something beautiful for every budget. If you're in the mood to treat yourself (or someone else) to something sparkly and pretty, this store has something in everybody's price range. And if they don't, they'll make it for you. My now husband and I got our wedding bands here and we really could not have been happier with the whole experience. Bert and Gloria were so attentive, even there little girls were wanting to help! there is big family atmosphere in that store and I personally love that. And they really take the time to explain every detail of the jewelry so you know exactly what your getting. the free warranties are nice also! So remember, Bert Levi Family Jewelers is a very sophisticated, classy and very successful jeweler in San Diego & has been here longer than I remember. Before I was born to be exact, which means they must be doing something right. Go see Bert and tell him Lauren sent you.

User2023369 Sent on 01/26/2015I came in to Bert Levi Fine Jewelers in Horton Plaza, San Diego as a total “newbie” to the engagement ring process. Right away I could tell that the staff there knew their stuff. I learned so much from Zhara in the 15 minute conversation I had with her about diamond types (I had no idea there were gold, blue and even brown diamonds…totally exquisite!). I even learned some engagement ring etiquette, which I really appreciated (its been a while)! I felt totally safe in the hands of the staff as I asked my very basic questions and received very informative and respectful answers. The price points seemed reasonable for what I was looking for (around $1,000 to $2,000 along with some sets for engagement ring and wedding rings that were a little bit more). I was also impressed with the large selection and that all the refitting and facettings are done in-house. What’s more, I came in right before they closed and they didn’t give me that, “Go away, we want to go home” attitude that a lot of stores at closing time will. On the contrary, they were very professional and helpful every step of the way!
