Adelphi Mill is a great space with a lot of history and character. We looked at several venues offered by the PG Parks Department, and we chose Adelphi Mill because it is affordable, has a lot of charm, and had enough room so that all of our guests could eat and dance inside where there is air conditioning (a must for a July wedding in MD). There are many places to take great wedding pictures both inside and outside of the Mill. The river and the gears and the basement provide extra opportunities for interesting pictures. Many of our guests commented on how they never knew the Mill existed and how much they liked it.

Be aware that it is a lot of work if you plan on having a wedding at Adelphi Mill. You cannot set anything up before the time your contract states, which can add extra stress on the day of your wedding. We went to check the Mill a few days before our date to see what state it was in, and we're glad that we did. The water was turned off and the bathrooms were a mess. We called the Parks Department, and fortunately they responded pretty quickly. We can only imagine what would have happened if we found out about the problem on the day of our wedding.

Adelphi Mill is a beautiful historical building beside a stream and hiking trail. If you're on a budget, this is a great location. We took some beautiful photos outside, and they even have a playground if you have any younger guests, or want to take some fun pictures.

They don't have any requirements for your vendors, or put limits on your decorations. The biggest drawback for me was that you have to setup the locale the same day, and they do not have any staff on-hand, so either be prepared to pay somebody to setup all your tables, decorations, etc, or have some dedicated friends and family on hand. They do provide several folding rectangular 6' tables, and folding metal chairs - mostly in shades of brown. You can use them, or rent your own from a separate vendor.

The mill has 3 levels - the main floor, the second floor, and the basement. The basement has some really cool old mill machinery, but it has an old linoleum floor, awkward layout (due to the machinery) and we didn't use it for anything besides storing the extra chairs and tables. We served lunch on the main floor, and had cake and dancing on the second floor.

Overall, we loved the location, it was within our budget, and we got lots of compliments on it.

We choose Adelphi Mill because it reminded us of the parks we take long walks in. It was gorgeous on our wedding day and we wished we’d went ahead with the plan to have the ceremony in the clearing by the creek. We did take lots of photos near the creek and on the rocks further down. There is also a bridge about a four minute walk from the Mill past the clearing but we didn’t make it down there for time’s sake. Adelphi Mill is a do-it-yourself venue, which was perfect for us. We had it the entire day to do with it what we wanted. It was rustic and charming! My bridesmaids and I used the lower level to dress and have our own private area. The meal took place upstairs on the highest floor and everything else took place on the ground floor (dancing and mingling). The patio in the from the door is perfect for ceremonies. We were able to fit 100 people easily.
Everyone had a great time and the photos came out lovely. I definitely recommend the Mill. Can’t beat the price!

We chose the Mill because it was rustic beautiful and super cheap! We got great use out of the venue. We had the ceremony outside, cocktail hour on the first floor and reception on the third floor :) It was clean and had tables so we didn't have to rent any. If I had wanted to use thier chairs I wouldn't have had to rent any either but I chose otherwise for my own decrative reasons. I was very happy with the venue it's warming kitchen and the overall space, and for the price ($625!!!!) you can't beat it!

Beautiful venue. They are very flexible with decor, but not with timeframes.

It was a great place to have a unique and less formal wedding reception without blowing our budget. Was perfect for Autumn. It was a really great value and easily accommodated 120 guests.

The mill was the perfect place for our wedding. And it was perfect for our budget. We used it on a Saturday night, and unfortunately the folks who used it the night before didn't put the tables and chairs away properly, making extra work for us on our day. Out of the three bathrooms, only one of was usable (thankfully the handicapped one!) I don't think it was entirely the fault of the park system, just that they need to have a little more oversight and upkeep when the space gets so busy.

The venue was very beautiful and well kept. Maintenance does a great job. Keep in mind though, that you're paying almost 800$ just to use a building for a few hours-and they only give you 3 hours before to set up! Also, you're dealing with the government, so they don't really care what you think. We live 3 hours away and they wouldn't make any exceptions with picking up the key, making the deposits, and sending them back. Also- they wouldnt give us our security deposit back since we set up the night before for our wedding. If this is for a party or soemthing-i would recommend it, but not for a wedding. Who wants to wait until 3 hours before the wedding to be able to set up? Anyway-it was beautiful and we loved it, but don't like the people we had to deal with to get it.

I love having my wedding there!! Only because it's beautiful and great price
BUT if we are talking about the service... it was terrible! So I do recommend it
for people that are on a budget like myself, but be aware they do not pay attention to your needs!
    PROS:
    The price!
The possibility to have an indoor or outdoor ceremony.
    The uniqueness.
How huge the place is! 2 floors and a basement plus the outside.
The path that goes from the bridge behind this place to the park.
    >>>CONS:<<<
I asked them to have everything cleaned and no chairs on any floors, since I rented my own...
They said yes yes and that day everything was dirty and we had chairs all over the place.
And may I remind you it's 2 floors!!! The office told the cleaning crew there was a "birthday party" at 1pm
so that's why they came late to clean... I paid from 8am-11pm for a wedding!! I had to decorate everything
myself with family and friends, so I got there at 8am exactly. (huge problem!)
