Laura Dalbey grew up in Billings, received her bachelor’s degree in violin performance from Wheaton College Conservatory, and her master’s degree in education from MSU-Billings. Violin teachers she has studied with include Dr. Nancy Critelli, Vikki Payne, Randy Tracy, Mary LaMonaca, Dr. Lee Joiner, and many others through Suzuki and other violin pedagogy workshops. She has taught violin, viola, and piano privately for over 20 years, general music in the public schools, and is currently the orchestra director at Saint Francis Catholic School. Along with teaching, she performs with the Billings Symphony, Rimrock Opera Orchestra, String Orchestra of the Rockies, Copper Kelly, Yellowstone Chamber Players, and is the music director at her church. In her spare time, she loves to read, ski, and play with her nieces and nephews.
LAUREN CARR began playing viola through the Billings Public Schools at the age 10 and later developed a fondness for chamber music during her teenage years at Red Lodge Music Festival. She has studied with Jenanne Solberg, Uri Barnea, Dr. Michael Jamanis, Dr. Peter Chun, John Kirk, and Randy Tracy. After earning her BA in anthropology and music at Franklin & Marshall College in Lancaster, PA, she went on to teach music theory, ear training, and viola improvisation at Forerunner Music Academy in Kansas City, MO. While in the midwest, Lauren contributed to several live and studio albums for various recording artists. She has performed with professional orchestras in Billings, Bozeman, Helena, and Bolivia, but she continues to enjoy playing with live bands of all genres including a local John Denver/James Taylor cover band. While pursuing a masters in education from MSU-B, she teaches orchestra at Billings Christian School and a private studio of viola, violin, and piano students.
Lindsey Selman, a Yellowstone County native, began her musical studies at the age of five. In 2010, she earned a BA in church music with an emphasis on violin performance, and has spent several years involved in church music, performing, directing, recording, and conducting workshops across the US, Canada, and Russia. In addition to Stillwater String Quartet, Lindsey also performs and teaches with many local other organizations, including the Billings Symphony, Billings Youth Orchestra, Musikgarten, and also maintains a studio of private students.
