They made my mother's dress 30 years ago and then redid it for my big day. I was very happy with how they executed on my vision for redoing my mother's dress, despite me being larger. They were so helpful and we went through multiple fittings. At the final fitting, a month before the wedding everything was perfect. There were two issues day of - the lining they added back in was too small - I could not get the dress over my hips, and we did end up needing to rip the seams of the lining just to get it laying properly, which was unfortunate, but luckily not visible. The bustle hooks were also not sturdy enough - they ripped during the first dance, and my MOH had to sew it back on to my dress. That said it WAS the dream dress, and I am so happy with it.

My mom and I both contacted Kim about a year before my wedding day in 2020 to create both of our dresses. For my mom and I the fit was absolutely key for our dresses, and after trying on so many gowns prior, I knew I wouldn't be able to find a gown that would fit as well as a custom made one. My mom and I first met Kim at The Wedding Co. show just before Covid, and seeing her sitting and sketching dresses live, I knew she was the one who could make anyone's dress dreams come true!

From the moment we sat at her pink marble table in her new shop and she sketched my dress, I was SO excited. It is very hard to commit to a dress you can't try on until a week before your wedding, but just seeing her design with confidence and excitement, I knew I would have a magnificant dress. The whole design and fitting process was easy and really really fun. Week after week, through all of Covid, the lockdowns and small openings in between, Kim stayed a constant. She made us feel completely comfortable and was such a calming and caring presence to be around, as if there was no pandemic and no shortages or difficulties getting any material (even though there absolutely was)!

Kim & team, thank you for bringing the mess in my head to actual real life. When everyone saw the dress, they knew there was no other dress that would have been more perfect. The lace, the wings, the tulle, I almost didn't take it off. And the matching veil was on a whole other level. My family and I will cherish this dress for future generations. Thank you again for your dedication, time, effort, excitement, care, and love and I am so proud to support such an incredible local designer and small business right here in our own city.

I had all confidence in Valencienne from the very first moment I walked into the store after visiting virtually every salon in the city. I can’t express how grateful and happy I am with my dress! I had a very specific vision for my wedding dress. I also have some experience with sewing, making and wearing ballet costumes, so I knew exactly what and how I wanted it to be - a nightmare client combination!

For Kim and her team this was easy. The clear and consistent communication built trust between the two of us - Kim took every note and thought I had very seriously and I was able to trust her judgement and artistry. The end result was a dress I LOVED and made me feel like a queen.

My dress was very different to traditional gowns. I wanted a very couture look - a short, structured ballgown with an oversized bow on the back. There wasn't any existing imagery for us to reference so I made a mood board to clearly identify how I wanted each section to look. The result was a unique creation I will treasure forever.

I must have tried on at least 50 dresses at 8 different shops before coming to Valencienne, and couldn't find the dress of my dreams. There was always something I wanted to tweak with each dress I tried on. There was a dress that was almost perfect, but there were some details about it I did not like. I brought my dilemma to Kim and showed her pictures of my almost perfect dress. She listened to my concerns and was able to help me tweaked the dress to perfection. We changed the cut slightly, the lace pattern, and material. I was so comfortable on my wedding day, able to move and dance with ease. It was exactly as I envisioned it. Overall, my experience at Valencienne has been excellent! Getting a custom dress tailored to my body was way more affordable than I expected. It was also super fun to see exactly how a custom wedding dress is made. Definitely recommend if you are super picky bride like me!

Working with Kim was a dream. She’s so creative and will get you the perfect dress based on your wants, her extensive knowledge and the vibes of your wedding.

I loved how she not just designed what I wanted but also suggested ways to make my inspirations even better. She was also very helpful in telling me when my ideas wouldn’t work out as I’d envisioned so stop me from being disappointed / not actually getting what I wanted.

My dress was gorgeous and looked couture. You could tell it sentence just off the rack somewhere. I’d go through this process again in a heartbeat.

Last week I had the privilege of picking up my dream wedding gown!
There are not enough words to express my gratitude for all the talent within the Valencienne Boutique. A special thanks go out to Kim. She is the most wonderful, heart warming individual I have ever met. Not only does she shine with talent, but her care for her clients is over the top.

The week of my wedding, I hit a bump. It was due to undelivered decor that I had ordered well in advance for my big day. When I went to pick up my gown, Kim was able to know that there was something off from my character. She was able to come to my rescue and helped my complete my Fairy Tale Wedding. Her gesture in this goes way and beyond. It proves to me that she is not only beautiful from the outside, but her beauty shines within. I will miss her dearly but, will definitely return for future events! PS she has a contagious laugh that I will never forget
