About

Flour Confections evolved from a passion for dessert and a love for artistic expression.  I make wedding cakes and specialty cakes because I love the challenge of creating something beautiful out of something so simple as eggs, flour and sugar!  For me, the cake should taste as good, if not better than it looks!

Each creation is as unique as the individual for whom it is made.  That is my challenge - to bring your ideas and visions to my kitchen, delivering an edible masterpiece!

Please visit the website from time to time to see what's new.

Enjoy your art - Eat cake!

Frequently Asked Questions for Wedding Cake
Do you offer private tastings or open house tastings?
All consultations are private and by appointment only. At each consultation, couples receive a tasting box to share & enjoy at home.

What are your tasting hours?
Tastings & consultations are by appointment only.

Describe how you price, such as by slice or by tier, for your cakes?
Each cakes is priced by the design. Although our pricing starts at $6/serving, then end price is determined by not only the size of the cake, but the finishes and details which complete the design.

Do you offer custom cakes, or do you work with pre-designed styles?
I strive to create a custom cake design for each and every client. Pictures are perfect for reference, but changes are often made to the design in order to have a cake that is as unique as you are.

What (if any) special ingredients, such as fresh fruits or farm-fresh butter, do you use in your cakes?
Local creamery butter, pure Madagascar-Bourbon vanilla, Belgian chocolate, and local fresh fruits when available are just some of the quality ingredients that go into each our our cakes.

On average, how far in advance of the event do you prepare the cake?
Your cake will be baked 1-2 days prior to the event date, depending upon the design. Cakes are never made ahead and frozen for future dates. Cupcakes are baked early the morning of the event.

How many cakes do you schedule for a typical weekend?
Since everything I make is fresh, from scratch and completely customized to each client, I only accept a total of 3 wedding cakes per weekend, 2 per day.

Will you work with the client's florist to garnish the cake?
Yes - I like to work closely with both the bride & the florist in order to guarantee that the final look of the cake is what everyone has envisioned. I personally place all arranged flowers on the cake at the time of delivery.

What (if any) cake accessories, such as a cake stand or cake cutter, do you rent out?
Silver cake plateaus, cupcake towers and cake server sets are available for rent. Pricing varies depending upon the item chosen.

Do you offer delivery? If yes, how much is your average delivery fee?
Delivery within central Durham Region is free of charge. Outside of this area, delivery fees apply - please contact me for more information.
