12 Apr, 2019The story of our wedding
I wanted a small, intimate ceremony and he wanted a larger party. So we had a two day event.
We were married on April 12, 2019 from the Philadelphia Wedding Chapel. It was a gorgeous simple ceremony. We set out a good 20 minutes ahead of time, since we only had a 15 minute grace period. Only to realize my ID was missing! My bridesdude's wife was the hero of the day. She drove back to the house, took a picture of my ID, and brought it to the ceremony.
Then, after the ceremony we had our family pictures taken at Belmont Plateau. The day was windy and my dress blew all over the place. Everyone was laughing, and trying to throw hair back behind their heads! Husband and I stayed back for some more intimate pictures by the cherry trees while everyone else went back to the house. Thankfully, the downpour waited just long enough to get those pictures, and I got my good luck storm!
The pajama pizza 'not rehearsal dinner' began. It was a great, informal party. Exactly what I wanted (if a tad loud). Our wedding party got their gifts, and everyone got to just enjoy the day.

Gussied up hair and faces, and made our way to the venue. Even without a coordinator, the room was set up in 15 minutes. That was plenty of time for another round of pictures at Elfreth's Alley, and to be back for the wedding.
Our food truck caterer was set-up, DJ playing music, and guest book bottles signed. The reception went smoothly and was exactly the party my husband wanted. My mother in law even slipped in a secret song into the mother/son dance. My husband started crying the moment he realized "Child of Mine" transitioned to a song he wrote as a kid.
I look back from the food, to the dancing, to the intimate (and glitchy ceremony), to the wind blowing through our hair. Our wedding was us. Every inch of it. And I couldn't be happoer.
