The story of our wedding
We had an intimate wedding on Nov. 9, 2019. Our ceremony was at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Arlington, Virginia and the reception was at the Marsh Mansion at Heritage Hunt Golf & Country Club in Gainesville. My husband and I were introduced by common friends, dated in March of 2018 and were engaged in February of 2019.
In February 2019, my husband took me to Paris as a birthday present and surprised me with a proposal after our visit to the Notre Dame Cathedral. We got engaged two days after my birthday, by the river Seine with a view of the Notre Dame Cathedral in the background. My husband couldn't have picked a more perfect place than Paris! The best part about this engagement is that my husband apparently went to my parents' house before our trip and asked them for my hand in marriage. My parents knew about the upcoming engagement way before I did.
For our wedding, we went with simple but elegant. Our colors were dark green and ivory. To pay tribute to my Filipino heritage, we had a traditional Catholic-Filipino wedding where we incorporated the arras (coins), lasso (cord) and veil during the ceremony. Our ceremony was followed by a dinner reception at the Marsh Mansion where we celebrated with family and close friends. Our garter removal was unique. My husband, who is a musician on weekends, surprised everyone (including myself) by playing the bass guitar as he removed my garter!
