Wedding Report with Pics!!!

We finally got married! I only have a few pictures on my work pc but i'll do my best to paint the picture!

From the beginning... my fiance and I met on the school bus when we were 11 and were friends for many years before becoming a couple at the age of 17. We got engaged 3 years ago and booked our Vegas wedding 2 years ago so that we could give family and friends enough notice to save up if they wanted to come. In the end we had 35 guests! Most local to us in the UK but 2 came over from Germany to see us get married!

There were 16 of us on the same flight going from Manchester so we thought it would be daft to have everyone make their own way to the airport so we called on the bus company of the double decker bus on which we met to provide us with transportation and they offered to do a return airport transfer for FREE to take us all! The story even made it into the local paper and we became mini celebrities :-)

The bus journey was fantastic! Everyone got in the holiday spirit and we were all looking forward to the adventure that lay ahead.

When we got to Vegas, we had 3 days before the wedding to do last minute phoning round and meeting our co-ordinator etc. so we barely left the hotel. The day before the wedding 10 of us went to get our nails done at Encore which is a majorly swanky hotel, it was amazing! They put on champagne for us and we all had lovely hand massages with our manicures, the perfect way to relax before the big day! As you can imagine we all walked out of the hotel holding our hands up near our faces so that nobody would knock into them but they all stayed immaculate :-)

The morning of the wedding I threw up I was so nervous! It wasn't even the 'getting married' bit I was worried about, I just hoped that after 2 years of planning that it all worked out as planned! I went down to breakfast in our hotel with my 4 bridesmaids, my mum and my mother-in-law.

Now, i'm usually a good eater but because of the nerves I couldn't even eat a few strawberries! Oh well! Back at the room, the hairdresser and makeup artist arrived and they were lovely! I started to feel more at ease when everything started pulling together and the nerves slowly went away. The girls did an amazing job of our airbrushed makeup and hair ups, and we had a good chat about the infamous Don't Tell the Bride Vegas episode because they did that bride's hair and makeup - the groom couldn't even tell them what colour his future wife's eyes were or how long her hair was! Then our photographer arrived to take pics of us all getting ready, he was great! Such a nice bloke, and helpful too! I had to ask him which leg my garter went on - he had seen it thousands of times before he knew the answer!

After me and my bridesmaids had gotten into our dresses, my dad arrived. This is when it all felt real! He gave me a hug and told me how beautiful I looked. I ask him to put my lucky sixpence in my left shoe before putting it on, then I gave him his present - a pocket watch with an engraving on the back saying "Today a bride, tomorrow a wife, always your baby Aimee" (I'm the youngest and always get called baby Aimee).

We then started to make our way to the hotel lobby where we had to meet the minister and co-ordinators to pick up our bouquets.

The photographer look loads of photos of us in the lift, and in the casino as we were slightly ahead of time...

We then moved along to meet with our minister. He is the nicest guy you could ever meet! He had a chat with me and my H2B seperately so that we didn't see each other, so that he could personalise the ceremony. He did a FANTASTIC job! Everybody laughed, everybody cried, it was perfect! The vows included words like "with this beautiful expensive ring, I thee wed!" and "I promise to always be as cute and beautiful as I am today!" ... it was fabulous! It meant more to us to have a ceremony that represented our personalities and therefore be more meaningful to us, rather than to have religious vows (which as non-religious people we would have felt as though we were lying to each other).

This is us after being declared husband and wife, walking back down the aisle...

After the ceremony we had our guests hop on board another double decker bus (can you spot the theme here?!) to go on a tour of the strip and to have some photos taken at the Venetian. We hooked up the ipod and played some tooooons! Sexyback, Boom Boom Shake Shake the Room etc. haha! This is everyone on the top of the bus...

We had a different photographer follow us for 4 us after the ceremony so that he could stay with us outside of the hotel (the hotel photographers only do it for a very large cost!) We don't have these back for another couple of weeks though - stay tuned!

After the Venetian, my hubby and I went on our own with the photographer to get a taxi to go to the neon boneyard - this is where all of the lights and signs from old hotels go, google it! It's really quirky and we can't wait to see the photos from this! We stood in a que of about 30 people to get a taxi it was hilarious! Some offered to let us infront but pur TOG had just nipped to the lav so we had to wait anyway, but everyone told me how great we both looked and some even had photos taken with us! We then got to the boneyard and it was nearly dusk so lighting and temperature were perfect for our photo session there.

We had pics with an old wedding chapel sign, the letter for our surname's initial and many more! It was lovely just to get this time together as we could talk whilst walking around.

A limo then picked us up to take us to the Vegas Sign. It was a brand new limo! We got champagne and I got a rose too, and we reflected on our wedding day and how brilliant it had been. At the Vegas Sign we had some more photos taken, and came across an Elvis impersonator with a pink cadillac so we had some with him too! It was so cheesy it was great! He even gave us a signed photo from him...random! It's another souvenir from our wedding day :-)

The limo then took us back to the hotel where our guests were waiting in a suite for us to have our reception. We had checked into a large suite in the morning so that we could tell our guests which room number to go to, but apparently whilst we were having photos our bridesmaids went to that room to find there were drunk people strewn all over it! It was like something out of the Hangover! but luckily my girls took control and sorted it out with concierge who then bumped us up to an even bigger suite! It was bloomin' fantastic! We hooked up the ipod to the ipod dock for music, our caterers had already set up the food and the open bar was flowing. We then gathered everybody so that we could cut the cake. We believe that it's a custom in America for the couple to feed each other a bit of the cake (we don't do this in the UK!), but on the spot we ended up shoving it into each other's faces!!!...

We started to mingle with our guests and then the lads got ready to do their speeches. My Dad's speech was lovely, telling me how proud he was of me and how much he welcomed my hubby into the family. My hubby then got to do his. He had been so worried about his speech hewas writing some of it on the plane and even the day before the wedding! When he started, he hardly looked at his notes and he spoke so naturally that you could tell it was from the heart and he knew exactly what to say. He made me cry, a lot! He made our guests cry. It was beautiful. He thanked everyone with so much honesty that it was the perfect way to show our appreciation for everyone travelling so far to be with us on our big day. He ended it by highlighting how much I need looking after (he's not wrong!) and how i'm even a messy eater (true!) so he made me turn around and shut my eyes to give me a present....putting something around my neck I opened my eyes, looked down, and saw my own personalised Baby's Bib!!!

Straight after this, our Elvis impersonator arrived! This was kept a surprise from everyone so everybody's faces just lit up! The impersonator was actually our minister who had married us and once everyone realised they were in hysterics! He started off by renewing our vows in true Elvis/Vegas style (which we weren't expecting at all but it was hilarious and we loved it!) and he sang our first dance, Can't Help Falling in Love. He continued to do another 6 songs and everybody got up to dance and had photos with him - he was only meant to do 3 songs but he enjoyed himself so much he stayed!...

After Elvis left we all carried on dancing to the ipod in the bedroom of the suite. We jumped on the bed, had 6 of us dancing in the shower (yes, it was that big!) and even had a few of us doing the Dirty Dancing lift!

So many more stories but I best be off! Hopefully this gives the jist of our big day pretty well and I'll post some of the other professional photos up when i get them! Thank you for reading :-) xxx
