Venue Options

Robin, on July 21, 2019 at 9:42 AM Posted in Wedding Reception 0 8

My fiance and I don't want to spend an obnoxious amount of money on our wedding, but we can't seem to find a venue that has the balance between affordability and aesthetic. I know that weddings are expensive, but we want to find something that we can actually afford. We're looking for a venue in Central/Northern NJ, Westchester County NY, or CT. The wedding is going to be on the smaller side (between 50 and 125 people) and we want the same venue for both the ceremony and reception. If anyone has any recommendations that would be amazing. Thank you!

Community centers tend to be a lot cheaper! Also think about it in terms of how you can make the space what you envision rather than finding the venue that's already that

Have you tried checking out the "Venues" tab here on Wedding Wire?

That was going to be my suggestion too! That's where we're having ours at, and it was only $275. It's a blank slate which is great for setting up someone's vision.

Have you told the venues you like you’re on a budget and ask about their 1) off-season rates, 2) Weekday night wedding rates, 3) Sunday brunch rates? Any of those options can save you 20-50%.

Look into s community center, or a state park pavilion! We are having our wedding at a local state park and we’re able to book it Friday-Sunday for under 600. Then we also rented a tent for supplemental space!

Definitely look at non-traditional venues, I’ve found venues that specifically focus on weddings to be much more expensive. My FH and I chose a group campground to host our ceremony & reception for about 65 guests. The site has a pavilion and is only $250/night, plus I think some of our guests will camp and save on a hotel since everyone will be traveling 2+ hours. I found several city parks with accommodations that were good rates and a few event halls that were under $1000, it just took some research. Good luck!

If you want an outdoor wedding you can check out parks or gardens they tend to be cheaper and don't need too much decor.

Do your research on venues that offer discounts for off-peak dates. We are having a Friday November wedding. Exactly half the cost for the venue if we would have had it 6 days earlier on Saturday, October 26th. Friday, November 1st it is!
