That looks yummy! I like the look of it how will it look with everything else you are doing for the decorations? Part of me though does feel the cake is naked...hmmmm

I haven't had one, but I really wanted one for my wedding. FH said NO! He wants traditional. I love the look of the first cake.

Interesting concept, never saw these before...I can see having one for a casual rustic wedding tho...

I think it's adorable. And I don't like a lot of icing so I would be very happy to see this.

Fireworks Bride, we're too much alike! I gave my cake decorator this picture for inspiration. Mine will be 3-tier white cake with raspberry filling and a cream cheese frosting gutter that ruffles out of the sides. Then coated with powdered sugar.

    It's a naked cake.

    Love it Jmedd!

Do you think they could do half and half?

Or maybe bottom tier chocolate, middle teir uniced and top tier wedding cake like?

Fiance hates white cake and white icing!

It is not my favorite look, but if you love the look, go for it. They can look very cool.

My sister did no icing and it was AWESOME... they got all positive feedback on it. The baker usually makes the icing filler a little thicker than normal so there is enough icing to go around.

Edit: It totally fit her... I'll post some wedding porn for ya

@Lynzey OMG... she did!!!!! Love the pic

Oh and to add my sister added fresh flowers....I'll see if I can find a pic.

These were all from her wedding this past summer...totally fit them as a couple.

FH and I are totally against it.

Mmm looks like pancakes! I prefer to follow the motto of "more icing the better"

I totally disagree with Ray... It makes a cake look "rustic" and cute

It's not about anybody else, but you and FH (if he has any input). There will always be haters, lol. Fireworks, I like your idea of switching it up and it can be done. I'd love to see it switched up.

I don't think it looks right. I have always believed the wedding cake should represent the couple though. So if it works for you than it doesn't matter.

It looks good to me and its really about what you want. in my opinion though the icing is the best part.

I love this cake style! I don't like a lot of frosting anyway so this would be perfect!
