Singing during ceremony?

Furure Mrs., on July 31, 2020 at 11:39 AM Posted in Wedding Ceremony 0 5

So, the best man in our wedding messaged me last night asking if, as a surprise for FH, he could sing a song during our ceremony. I know having his best friend sing at our wedding would mean a lot to FH so I told him he could, however I don't know where in the ceremony to put this. It's a really nice song, but I feel like it's going to be awkward no matter when it happens. We are having a fairly traditional ceremony, but short and sweet is the name of the game here. I was thinking right near the end somewhere, but wanted to see if anyone else had any ideas of when would work best.

Usually if people do a unity thing then there would be a song for that

At my brother's wedding, they had a traditional reading from the bible then the pastor's four children sang a song while he played guitar. It was very beautiful and not awkward at all. During my ceremony, my grandmother read a poem that she wrote rather than a normal traditional reading from the bible. I would have him sing in the place of doing a reading. I think it would be something very nice and personal that you could include.

That's a good idea! We aren't having anyone do any readings during our ceremony, but that would be a good time to have him sing. I'm so glad that he asked to sing because it's going to be really nice and mean SO much to FH, but I've never been to a wedding where someone has sung before and wasn't sure how best to make it work.

Our officiant basically just said along the lines of at this time Mary Smith, the grandmother of the bride, will be reading a poem she wrote for the bride and groom. My grandmother came up front and he handed her the microphone. She read the poem, gave us hugs then sat back down in her seat. I would have your officiant do something similar. The best man would sing then take his place back in the line up. It will be a nice little break up from all of the talking. The song the pastor's children sang at my brother's wedding was very pretty and heartfelt.

This would be my suggestion as well! Have his song be the background to your unity ceremony.
