Ring and candle ceremony?

Okay. I’m putting together our ceremony. I was wanting to do the unity candle lighting. With that said, can we still exchange rings? Is exchanging rings considered a type of unity ceremony? I’m a little confused.

You can literally do whatever you want at your ceremony as long as your officiate agrees to sign off on it. Ours is very lenient and is letting us do whatever. But there is no rule that says if you do one you can't do the other. So have both!

Does your venue allow candles? Our specifies (no open flames). And yes you can do both.

I think in some cultures the exchanging of rings counts as a unity ceremony, but most weddings I've been to do rings in addition to a unity ceremony.

Like Rachel said, nothing is off limits as long as your officiant and venue say it's cool.

The unity candle is usually in addition to the rings. I've never been to a wedding where there was a unity candle or unity sand and then no rings
