Rent or buy wedding dress

Nora, on March 24, 2025 at 7:22 PM Posted in Wedding Attire 0 7

Hey everyone, I’m looking for opinions on whether to rent or buy my wedding dress.

I don’t plan to wear it again and don’t have the space to store or display it as a décor piece. What did you do with your wedding dress after the wedding? Did you just keep it in your closet forever? Also, any tips on how to properly store it? Thank you very much!

Are you able to find a place to rent a bridal gown from? I haven't heard of any that rent them because the majority of gowns need alterations to fit you properly.

As far as after the wedding, you can have it preserved and stored in a box or you could donate it.

You can check sites for a dress that are being resold. That way you at least avoid the full expense. Rental places are harder to find but places like Vegas will have some.

You can look for different options afterwards. You can keep it another year for an anniversary. Another option is to have the dress altered and dyed to create a different look. Or you can donate to groups for military brides. You can also resale through StillWhite or other consignment sites.

I bought mine, but honestly, it’s just been sitting in my closet ever since. If you don’t have space or sentimental attachment, renting could be a great option! If you do buy, proper storage is key, acid-free tissue paper and a garment bag help a lot.

Thank you. I guess the dress needs to be professionally cleaned before storing.

Its totally okay to rent. No one wears the dress again anyways. You might be able to sell the dress after, but that is more risky.
