Have you used MissNowMrs or a Name Change Service?

JennaKate, on November 18, 2011 at 3:52 PM Posted in Married Life 0 10

Hey ladies! I am just settling in after the honeymoon (Sandals La Toc in St Lucia was a dream! PM me if you have questions!).

I'd love to know if any of you married ladies used something like MissNowMrs or if you decided to do all the paperwork yourself? Was it worth the money to use MissNowMrs? Was it worth the savings to do it yourself? Was it so complicated that you wish you had used MissNowMrs?

Thanks ladies!

Here's a wedding preview for you!

I bought it 1/2 price, seems easy to use although I'm only part done with it. Still waiting for more 2nd originals of the marriage certificate. However, I don't think it's anything you can't do yourself.

I purchased it for 1/2 price as well. I like that it's simple to use and populates everything for you based off information you originally provide.

For my busy lifestyle...this made more sense. Handwriting is a tad more time consuming...though I've been told there are a couple things I may have to hand print...won't know. I still have to take time off of work though to submit most of these. But the nice thing, that I liked most...was that it puts together a letter for you to send out to your banks.

I also feel as though it's fairly informative.

For me, I think it was worth it...but I know others on here do not.

I'm not sure about in other states... but here (Texas) all I had to do was go down to the social security office with our marriage certificate and have it changed there, and then when I had to get my drivers license renewed anyway (25th bday), I just brought my new social security card & marriage cert with me and they changed it on my license.

I would definitely not pay someone to do that... Juts my 2 cents.

ETA: I guess maybe it would be worth it to get it changed on your bank accounts... but I just waited until the next time I needed to deposit a check, and went inside instead of using the drive-thru with my "proof of identities". It was easy enough as well.

EdubbsWife did a great discussion on this topic, with links to a free site.

For people who also have to change their name at their bank(s), alumni associations, job, etc, I can see something like MissNowMrs being completely worth it. I probably will just to keep from loosing paperwork or forgetting something doing it on my own.

Now... if it would change everything for military couples, I would have paid for that in a heartbeat. Which they may do, I'm not sure because I never looked into it.

It was SUCH a pain changing his status with the army and adding me as a dependent on his VA stuff, disability, etc. THAT would DEFINITELY be worth the money to me.

I used MissNowMrs and it really helped me save a lot of time and confusion. It gives you your state laws on certain things that you need to change some things and also what you need to bring to change other things like your name on your social security, drivers license, etc.

    Hey Charlotte,

Awesome, good to know. I live in Texas as well and was curious if it was worth it. Did you have trouble changing your car title? Or is that done at the DMV as well?

Thank you, again, for the insight!

I wish I did it myself. I did upgraded package and had pre-printed forms an pre-stamped envelopes. The DMV for was not correctly printed and the postage on all of the envelopes was $.47, not $.50. So I had to get additional postage.
