For all the brides over 30 and are not afraid to admit it....

My sweeties and I are planning to have the candy buffet but with the candy we grew up with. Such as Slow-Pokes, Beemans gum, Banana Splits, Clove gum, Boxed Cracker Jax, Neccos, Goo Goo Clusters, Charleston Chews, All Day Suckers, Marathon Bars (which I can't locate), those candy buttons on the papers, Wax Coke bottles with the fluid in them, Wax lips... you get the idea I hope.

My question is.. what candy do you miss the most and would be most happy to see (bring back memories) that you haven't had in awhile.

My sweeties is doing this (it's his little mission) so I would appreciate some suggestions.

TIA

I don't remember what they are called but when I was a kid I loved the candy that comes with two white sticks and then three kinds of power to dip them in. They were the best!!!

I'm not over 30 by a long shot, but I am so madly in love with your idea! My parents always got the old style candy when they could because they loved it and some of it is truly awesome (Charleston Chews, Wax bottles, Snowcaps, Boston Baked Beans). What about orange slices? Or the maple sugar covered chews (don't really remember the name, and I think it changes).

How about pixy sticks, pop rocks, those lollipops that were almost shaped like a top and they had two or three color layers in them, know what I am talking about? Let's see...old fashioned candy sticks, bit-o-honey, chocolate coins, sixlets, gold nugget bubble gum. I don't know if you've looked here, but check out this site, they have a lot of candy and things. http://www.orientaltrading.com/party-supplies/candy-a1-380860-1-0-SXBwPTE2Jk5lPTM4MDg2MCZOdGs9YWxsJk50eD1tb2RlIG1hdGNoYWxscGFydGlhbCZOPTM4MDg2MA==.fltr

Sorry, one more time...apparently the Marathon Bar has been "replaced" with the "Curly Wurly" bar, supposedly tasting the same. "Mars" company no longer exists, but Cadbury is making these curly wurlys now that are very comparable.

I don't know if you found a spot to buy your candy from but were having a candy bar too and I found this website www.groovycandies.com Maybe you can search the site and find more of your favorite candies.

Goobers, Teaberry Gum - remember the Teaberry Schuffle. Turkish Taffy. I don't know what they were called but I used to love these hard candies that looked like millifiori. They had a colored outside with a white center that had a flower in it. I loved the orange banana peanut candy. Good'n plenty, raisinettes, Jr. Mints, Fire Balls, Double Bubble - much better than Bazooka, Skybars, Baby Ruth. Of course they don't have them anymore but I used to love the taste of candy cigarettes - but "they" never tried to get kids smoking did they?

There is a place that advertises in Yankee Magazine that has all the old candy. I don't have a copy to look at to get you the name.

I still grab Clove & Beemans gum when I find it, and neccos, and wax coke bottles yum yum yum, Candy Dots on paper was my favorite when visiting Gram.

Thanks for the walk down memory lane.

Did you used to make gum wrapper chains too? I made one that was better than 50 ft. long.

Other than candy - Rat Finks, Trolls
