We’re having our first bridal party meeting in a few weeks. What is the expectations for my bridesmaids and his groomsmen's?

Technically, it's to buy the appropriate attire and stand up with you two at the wedding. However, if you have other expectations, that conversation can be important. Like, if you want them to actually help with wedding planning details and such, you should mention that towards the beginning and see how open they are to it. I would discuss budgets with each person separately because most people aren't going to be comfortable sharing that in front of others.

Buy their attire and show up to the wedding. Your MOH (or a bridesmaid if you don't have one) should hold your bouquet during the ceremony. His BM (or a groomsman if he doesn't have one) sometimes holds the rings during the ceremony. Each of them can give a speech at the reception if they/you want them to.

Agreed with PPs, but you could also discuss some details or at least your current thoughts on how the days around the wedding will go. Will there be a rehearsal dinner? Do you know where both parties will be getting ready? Will you be doing photos beforehand, or during cocktail hour? Do you have an idea of what they'll be wearing, or want input from them? Technically, their responsibilities are pretty minimal, but I'm trying to be as transparent as possible with everything involving my bridal party.

I've never heard of a bridal party meeting, is it like a mixer or thank you party? Basically, the bridal party gets their attire & shows up. If they choose to do extra like plan a bridal shower, bachelor or bachelorette party, couples shower, etc. that's great but it isn't required.

Yeah, well at least the weddings I’ve been in we would have meeting every few months just to make sure everyone is up to date with all their responsibilities (dresses, shoes, tux’s, etc). It actually helps cause if someone is slacking it gives the bride and groom time to either replace that individual or extend their deadline to have all their stuff done. Things come up and sometimes it can be a struggle so I want to give my bridal party the benefit of the doubt

Get your dress/tux and show up on time. Every now and then my FH will pop into our respective group chats to make sure everyone is doing alright. We are planning to have a BBQ for the bridal party this summer for everyone to mingle and have fun.

We might ask for bridesmaids and groomsmen to help out with a few things at the end of the wedding, but not much.
