Cool! @Allison would love to chat with you about decor if you like! is there a PM function on this site?
@Nas thanks! We're actually getting married in costume, on stage at a theatre with a professional lighting crew lol. My fiance works in the theatre industry. It should be a lot of fun! I'll be the Red Queen and he is the Mad Hatter.
We're trying to incorporate small wine elements. Our first date was at a winery and we got engaged at a winery. Place cards will be held with wine corks, candles (flame less) will have wine corks, etc. Still debating on doing table names of different wines and wine bottles with floral arrangements (or grape leaves).
We are doing a Victorian esque pirate/mermaid theme. The tables are going to have wine bottles with candle sticks in them, lots of jewels and pearls, his and her themed cocktails and fishnets over the table linens.
We are trying to avoid it looking like a kids party at all cost, which is where the Victorian theme comes in to play.
He loves pirates and I've always wanted to be a mermaid and that's why we chose the theme.
Story goes, he caught me at sea and now shares all his bounty and treasure with me.
We are doing nerdy with board games. My FH and I love playing games with each other and our friends and family! So we are having each table a different board game. Our table will be the game of Life which is perfect!
We're doing a sleeping beauty inspired wedding. So like the guest book will be the story book from the movie, I have a spinning wheel to incorporate into decorating and me and my BM's will carry a single pink rose. Hopefully it'll be subtle and elegant.
Mine is slightly Aladdin themed...officially "Princess Jasmines garden"
Purple/blues/teal/silver...moroccan arches on stage with hanging crystals/flowers in the arch openings. Escort cards will be held by little genie lamps (which guests can take with them) "card box" is a giant genie lamp I painted purple and added a crystal design to, etc
I'm half Arab and my fiance calls me his "own personal princess jasmine" and so it just seemed the natural fit
I coordinated a wedding that was Alice meets Beetlejuice themed. It was a trip. The groom is in a fairly well known alt rock band and somehow this actually all made perfect sense when I met them. It was at the Hollywood Castle in the Hollywood Hills over looking the batcave haha. All of the guests came in costume. The bride wore a custom made blue period style Alice inspired dress. All of the groomsmen wore tails. Their tour manager in full Beetlejuice get up was their officiant. The FOB was the mad hatter. The groom serenaded the bride on the violin with a song he wrote her as she walked across the drawbridge of the castle to the ceremony. All of the centerpieces were mad tea party themed. It was a lot of fun.
Our wedding is a bohemian style, but we will have hints of Harry Potter (for me) and Lord of the Rings (for him). I think my favorite part about it is we will have a sign saying to sit on the side of your preferred literary work during the ceremony.
Everything else we are incorporating will be very subtle touches!
