My husband and I were lucky enough to work with some very reliable vendors during our wedding, but The Why We Love team was our favorite vendor of all. The Why We Love is a husband and wife team and let us tell you that these two people are one of the most friendly and warm people we've every met. Thank you for making us feel so comfortable during our photo sessions and giving us lots of beautiful photos and moments to treasure for the rest of our lives. We love how our engagement and wedding photos turned out and most of all my husband and I enjoyed every bit of the times that we spend shooting these photos. We highly recommend The Why We Love team to anyone that would like to have their special moments captured by these two very talented photographers. Initially, we found this adorable husband/wife team through a wedding blog (100 Layer Cake- love them) and booked them for our engagement photos. We met over a beer to talk about "our vision" (admittedly, we didn't have much of one) and they helped us hone in on what we really wanted from our shoot. They listened and used their creativity to turn our engagement photos into something better than we imagined possible. We were sold- we hired them as our wedding day photographers and they wooed all of our guests. Everyone was asking who they were and how we found them... I'd honestly say I would recommend them to anyone getting married, taking family portraits or just getting some beautiful photographs. They are worth every single penny (and probably more). :)

This is long overdue but I wanted to make sure to give The Why We Love a proper review. We knew that photography was going to be our biggest investment for our wedding because those pictures will be around forever. We knew that we wanted to be able to look through those pictures and see the emotions from that day. I found Kevin and Danielle through the wedding blog 100 Layer Cake. I contacted them, we met them, and we agreed that we were all a perfect match! We met one afternoon at a park in Pasadena for our engagement photos and seeing the resulting pictures only made me more excited for the wedding and ecstatic that Kevin and Danielle would be there. I, personally, do not like being photographed but Danielle was so sweet and encouraged us to just be ourselves. After about 5 minutes, I was honestly having a good time and you can tell from pictures! Seeing them again for our wedding was like having your friends take your pictures, except the photographs are amazing, beautiful, and make you cry when you start remember how awesome your wedding day was. Their style and artistic talent shine through the photographic memories. I'll treasure these photos forever and will without a doubt ask Kevin and Danielle to take future photos of our family.

Another thing that drew us in to The Why We Love is that they take both film and digital pictures. They also know that your wedding is the start of something even more important- your marriage. On the day I married my best friend, I wanted to make sure that we surrounded ourselves with family and friends who support us. Kevin and Danielle are a part of that group of loving and supporting people and I am so glad they were there to share that day with us.

The photographer is always an important part of a wedding. For an elopement, the photographer is absolutely crucial. After all, they are the ones who make it possible for your friends and family back home to be part of your wedding.

I couldn't imagine a better experience than the one we had with Kevin and Danielle. Something about working with a husband-and-wife team was really comforting and affirming. It was like we were joining a really cool club and we had the most awesome couple inducting us in.

As our photographer, videographer, witnesses and wedding attendees, Kevin and Danielle's presence really set the tone for the day. I can't speak highly enough of how much much I appreciated their warm, loving and lighthearted energy.

The photos were amazing, but the real hit was our wedding video. I almost skipped the video, as I was trying to manage costs. But my husband said we should go for it and I'm so glad we did. The vintage-style of the film and the thoughtful music choices made it such a special record of a wonderful, meaningful day.

Kevin and Danielle shoot on film, which has a very special look. Be prepared that it will take a little while to receive your photos and/or videos. But I'd be willing to wait twice as long, because when I did receive them, I was blown away.

Where to begin... We found Kevin and Danielle while researching photographers for our California elopement. In particular we were looking for artful photography, but more importantly quality cinema that we could share with our family and friends upon our return. I stopped my search as soon as I found their site as I was instantly won over by the cinema. It only got better from there: Over the months before our wedding, we talked to Kevin and Danielle several times over the phone and email. It didn't take long to feel like they were also friends.
In addition to all of their film services, they also helped us find our officiant, Danielle's mother did our flowers, they met with me to scout locations for the elopement, and Danielle completely understood my "vision" and styled our "reception" with a picnic blanket, basket, etc. They have the best personalities to do this job, and such an eye for beautiful. Th All I can say is they went above and beyond over and over again. I couldn't imagine it working out more perfectly. Never bossy, never overbearing, very kind and warm couple.
Finally, upon seeing our film and photos, we were again blown away. The Why We Love has my highest recommendation.

Danielle and Kevin were fun and laid-back to work with, and they really "got" what we were trying to go for with our wedding. I would recommend them to anyone.

Honestly, if you want to have the best experience EVER for your photos, this is the team to be there on your special day. My husband and I couldn't have asked for anything more... Not only were the photos beautiful and professionally/creatively shot, they were wonderful people to work with. We absolutely adore them both. Looking forward to making it back out to Big Sur for an anniversary that we'd love for them to capture on film again!

They Why We Love (history behind the name is explained at their website www.thewhywelove.com) is a husband and wife photography team that was referred to me by a friend. I immediately loved them through our initial conversations and upon meeting them. They can adapt to any situation and capture unexpected or unplanned moments that you will be thankful for later. Of course we had the portrait or posed pictures taken which turned out beautifully, but some of our favorites are the natural shots taken throughout the day. We got married at a beautiful country club and they took pictures in places and ways that I don't think were captured by other photographers. They are also very warm and pleasant people who helped to put a calm tone on the day. In many cases you wouldn't have even known they were there because they were almost part of the backdrop and slipped in and out of the crowd. I highly recommend them for your wedding, engagement party, or family portraits. You will not be disappointed.

My husband and I hired The Why We Love for photos and a five-minute short film for our small, eight-person wedding which took place in October of 2015.

We paid $5800 in full for a photo and film package a year prior to our wedding date. While the photos were delivered to us in a timely manner (~five months after our wedding) and were of high quality, we still have yet to receive the film almost 18 months / 72 weeks out.

1. We were told to expect the film 12-20 weeks after the wedding, or roughly March of 2016. After following up at the end of June 2016, we were told the timeframe was actually one year.
2. This was the first time in any of our communication they mentioned this. We were also told in this June 2016 communication that we were number two in their queue.
3. After not receiving any communication from them for several months, we followed up again in December 2016, assuming six months would be sufficient for them to complete a five-minute single camera film without any audio components other than a background song that would be edited into the film in post-production for which we were number two in queue back in June 2016.
4. Four weeks later, we still had not received a reply to this communication. We sent another follow-up email.
5. They replied and noted that due to a family health issue that originated in June of 2016, they would not be able to complete the film on their own and would have to outsource to an associate editor.
6. We were told they would need four additional weeks to come up with resources to pay this editor to do the work, and from there, it would take her four weeks to complete.
7. In January 2017 we were promised, in writing, that we would have the film delivered to us by the end of February 2017 or sooner. It is now March 25, 2017 and we still have not received the film.

Paid $4100 and NOTHING has been done 13 months AFTER our wedding. No updates were ever given as to the delay, I was only made aware when I emailed him on our 1 year anniversary where he told me nothing was done AND he does not have the finances to do anything with the film. Total lack of communication after this also. No concern to get this figured out.

Update: Moving forward with a lawyer and a lawsuit, anyone else going through the same email me @ kelcrice@gmail.com. I am asking for unedited film and my money back, which was not given. I know I am not the only one with this problem.
