Having our rehearsal dinner and welcome party at the Majestic was a dream!
We rented out the place for our rehearsal dinner and then after dinner, we had wedding guests simply join the party and had everyone mingling over an open bar and hors d'oeuvres. The venue itself is fantastic. The lit sign out front lends a more casual air but our guests loved the vintage inspired inside as well. Food was top notch. We had 50+ people for dinner and guests were allowed to order from a menu once we all sat down at dinner so I didn't have to corral everyone's order the week before. Cocktails were excellent and the wine selection is pretty good if that's your thing. Bartenders were friendly and offered interesting drink options for our guests to try. Working with management (thanks Amber!) was super easy and very flexible. We accidentally had a few extra people join the dinner that I neglected to tell management about and they just rolled with it. Parking isn't the best on King Street but since we were getting married in the Alexandrian the next day, guests who were staying in Old Town were able to walk to the party.
The only cons were parking (as mentioned above), no microphone for speeches, and management could have done a better job of screening non-wedding guests who were trying to come in for dinner/drinks. They did post a sign on the front door right at eye level that said "Closed for Private Function" but its amazing how many people ignore or don't even notice it. All in all, I loved having my rehearsal dinner and welcome party at the Majestic and highly recommend!
