    Wedding ceremony and reception

I cannot say enough wonderful things about the Loretto! We held our ceremony and reception there on 9/26/2020. It was so BEAUTIFUL!! Our coordinator, John, was the absolute best! He was amazing to work with and handled even the most unpleasant situations with grace and kindness. We are forever grateful.

Brian and Susan were amazingly helpful during the entire process! I would highly recommend asking Brian for recommendations of the vendors.

We got married September 25, 2010 at The Loretto and couldn't of been more happy that we picked this venue for our ceremony and reception! It was more then we could ask for...having the beautiful historic chapel and awesome reception room! Both Brian and Susan were such a pleasure to work with and so helpful with everything. Another plus was having a packaged deal with the venue and pictures because having Brian's photography company, Zumare Images be available at The Loretto. It was so nice because he knows everything about The Loretto and the layout making him able to show you the best spots to take pictures and him being an amazing photographer just made our pictures that much better. ( they look amazing!) It was just the perfect and very memorable place to have a wedding!

We had a wonderful wedding and reception in this wonderful venue. This historic building was the most beautiful place and was perfect for our needs. From the bridal suite, to the chapel, to the reception hall... it was all perfect. The all inclusive nature of this venue, plus being able to provide our own alcohol, saved us a lot of money too. We highly recommend the Loretto for your event!

This location has everything I wanted: a beautiful, unforgettable ceremony location attached to a fully decorated reception. The caterers they want you to use are VERY yummy; we got a lot of compliments! Gorgeous facility and Brian and Susan are lovely people to work with.

Our March wedding was beautiful at the Loretto! The chapel is incredible and the Grand Ballroom was perfect for our 215+ wedding.

Brian and Susan were very kind and professional. They answered all of our questions and met with us on several occasions to discuss the venue.

The venue was a bit on the pricey side after their extra charges (which are clearly stated in the contract), so tack and about a grand to the venue total.

Overall, this is the perfect all-in-one for a wedding ceremony and reception!

Everything went off without a hitch. The Loretto staff was very clear about everything, and they exceeded our expectations. They were helpful and friendly, and made a number of suggestions that we hadn't even thought of. Probably the only surprise is that there weren't any surprises at all. Thank you Brian and Susan for doing such a wonderful job!

The Loretto was wonderful, the place doesn't need any decorating for the ceremony or the reception, it is beautiful and the perfect wedding site.

We really loved so many things about The Loretto. They were very proffesional and helpful. We had the loveliest dressing rooms with a full bathroom attached. They have a gorgeous marble entryway. There is also a drive so that guests can be picked up or dropped off and plenty of parking which is nice for guests. We also loved how all of the guests lined up along the drive as we drove away. The balcony overlooking the chapel is really nice as well and I was able to stand up there with my Dad and watch the beginning of the ceremony before I walked down the aisle and no one could see me. It is really a beautiful building with fantastic stained glass windows. It was also convenient to have the reception at the same location and they have a full kitchen for the caterer. We highly recommend this location.

The perfect place for your perfect day. We got married this fall, and the grounds at the Loretto were beautiful in our wedding photos with the trees and falling leaves. Plus, the chapel is so beautiful. I can't imagine a better day! A huge thank you everyone at the Loretto for all you did to make my special day so wonderful!

I saw a comment from someone who said they had problems with the staff. That wasn't the case for me. Both Brian and Susan were awesome to work with. They know what they are doing, and they know how to guide you through making decisions about how to plan your wedding. They're good people, and they did a great job with my wedding.

My daughter's wedding and reception were at the Loretto. The building is absolutely gorgeous, and the people there worked hard to help make her day wonderful. I really appreciated how much time they took with us in discussing different options and showing us how the reception hall could be arranged. Planning a wedding is a lot of work, but they made so much of it easier.

We just got married 7/18/10. I would have to say that the Loretto is one of the most impressive venues in Kansas City. Once I walked in and saw the Chapel I new that was where I wanted to get married. Then the second time I brought my fiance back and he agreed. I would have to say that the staff was beyond accomodating and went out of our way to add the special touches that we wanted for our day!!! The only thing that I was overwhelmed with was all the fees so it was way more than what we wanted to spend, and we aren't rich lol So if money isn't a deciding factor I would definitely recommend The Loretto because Iourrwedding turned out absolutely gorgeou and was well worth it in the end. And throughout the whole wedding process it really made me happy when the people that we worked with were so nice and willing to accomodate us! It makes a big difference.

I had my wedding and reception at The Loretto two years ago, and I just recommended them to a friend. We had such a perfect day, and I credit the hard work by the people there. They really seemed to care about making my day special!

We had our wedding at the Loretto a few weeks ago. The building is SO beautiful and was absolutely everything that we wanted in a venue. It was expensive, but a lot of things were included. Throughout the planning process, Bryan was great to work with. He was quick to respond to emails and phone calls, helped us make important decisions, and let us come in to meet face to face whenever we had a question. Susan was our ceremony coordinator, and she was fabulous as well. However, we had been told that someone would be present throughout our entire reception to assist us as needed. The manager of the building was introduced to us and we were told he was our "go to guy" for the rest of the night. After the ceremony, we didn't see him once. People were lost, no one knew what was going on, and the groom had to find the lights to turn them down for dancing. The caterers, DJ, and photo booth all had questions for him, and no one could find him, though he did resurface to do the walk through at the end of the night. Because of this, our reception was chaotic and rushed. Definitely hire a coordinator of your own to assist you during your event. Other than that, we had a very positive experience with the Loretto. It is a beautiful building and our pictures turned out great. The guests loved not having to travel between venues and also having the chapel feel during the ceremony.

They were a wonderful location for us. One important thing was to have the ceremony and reception in close proximity because we had a ton of out of town guests. This was the perfect solution.

My wedding was at the Loretto this past summer. The Loretto is a beautiful venue, but the manager Brian Marello is completely unprofessional. He is arrogant and rude and almost impossible to work with. One week before our wedding I had to call Brian to see about adding one extra table to our reception room (of which there is tons of space). I was appauled when Brian gave me attitude. Instead of working things out with me Brian had his father-in-law (who owns the building) contact me. The owner was fantastic! He had a solution to our table problem immediately. It's a shame that Brian doesn't have just an ounce of the people skills and kindness that the owner has. We had another issue on our rehearsal night. Brian wasn't there, but a very noticeable note was left on the altar. The note was written in a very passive aggresive way and listed the fees we would be charged if we were 1 minute late getting out of the building. It was embarrasing for our families to see such a rude note the day before our wedding. Brian apparantly had his assistant working that night, but we didn't meet him until we were leaving. I still don't understand why he wouldn't have his assistant pull me aside before the rehearsal and explain things to me instead of posting a note for all to see.

To sum up the Loretto is a beautiful building, but I highly suggest you search out another venue. You don't need the headache of dealing with a jerk one week before your wedding.

    The Loretto's reply:

I am sorry Nick Blees had a perceived bad experience, but the table he wanted to add was in front of a fire exit. There are 4 owners here, and I pulled myself out of the equation, because I wanted to find a solution for Nick, and I new with John’s vast experience he would be able to do so. As for the note, we provide everyone the same note reminding them of the 1 hour time frame for rehearsals. In 15 years it has never been a problem. I do agree with Nick about one thing, my father-in-law is a nice guy, and I am honored to be his protégé. He has 40 years experience dealing with customer service. Also, Nick's wife wrote us a nice thank you note saying how well the event went. So there is some inconsistency here. I don’t take this personally, even being called names. Even when you have been in business as long as us, you can always learn more. So if you are a bride considering The Loretto please feel free to call me personally if you have any concerns.
I sincerely wish Nick and Melissa the very best. Brian Marrello

Never had a worse venue experience

This place is fine if you don't mind roaches, cold water only, and staff who won't return your calls.

    The Loretto's reply:

    Ms. Ramona,
We're sorry you had such a bad experience with the previous owners! Rest assured, the new owners completely renovated The Loretto and re-opened in Summer 2019....and it is shiny clean. We appreciate the feedback and will make sure we maintain a premier facility!
