    Beautiful Venue!

The venue was absolutely stunning and set up wonderfully for weddings. Their event coordinator Adrienne is also a wedding planner and went above and beyond even without me being able to afford her custom services.

The house is spotless, with historic details and super fun touches like a custom Dallas mural on one wall. The huge kitchen was amazing for the vendors I brought in. Rooms are big, beds comfortable, and the bathrooms are gorgeous.

    Great venue and wonderful staff!

The Gaston was the perfect venue for our small, covid-19 friendly venue. It was everything we were looking for- inside/outside options, in Dallas proper, unique, and elegant. It was such a joy to get married there and work with all the staff! They were incredible.

    The Gaston Dallas

Due to the pandemic we were looking for a space that understood our need for space and safety precautions. Our wedding weekend was so beautiful and everyone loved the venue! It was located close to downtown and provided valet which our guests loved. Staff wore masks and the space offers several spaces for guests to spread out. Highly recommend.

    Best Micro-Wedding Venue!

We had a last-minute change from a 160-person wedding to a 30-person wedding due to COVID and found The Gaston House just in time! Adrienne and her team were able to work with us to secure our date and also helped guide us through the event planning (tables/chairs, vendor coordination, bar service, etc). She was more than willing to help with anything that we needed and was very responsive in the days leading up to the big day.

The venue is absolutely gorgeous and photographed so well in our wedding photos. There are details throughout the house that make it very unique and have some great history. We had most of the wedding party stay in the house, which made for a great wedding weekend! I highly recommend this venue and all of the people that helped make our wedding happen here.

    My Wedding

My husband and I live in Washington. We chose to have our wedding at The Gaston, because we could rent the whole place out, have an outdoor ceremony, and it was close to our families. The original quote I received was $13,000 for 60 people but ultimately I paid $18,000 for 80 people, in advance. However, due to COVID, we were only able to host 45 people. Therefore I was expecting several thousand dollars back, this assumption was confirmed by the caterer and the wedding planner. On Monday before the wedding, the forecast said there was going to be rain on my wedding day. I contacted the planner about options. Previously, she had stated a tent for the backyard would be around $2500. I asked her to contact the company. On Wednesday she came back with a quote for $8000. I felt this was astronomical, an additional $8000?? I asked about other options, they said they could cover just the patio for $4000, which I still felt was way overpriced for a tent, or move the wedding inside. By Friday no one had a plan or seemed to be working on the issue. When I asked how it would work if we moved the wedding inside, they did not know. My family and I were very disappointed with the venue and their lack of options or planning. My father approached the owners, and made it clear that it was unacceptable to expect us to pay extra for a tent, because as a wedding venue they should have options for bad weather. I flat out refused to spend another dime. We asked the owners to provide a tent, and in the end they did. Hours before the wedding, I checked on the cake. The cake looked nothing like the picture I provided. I was very upset because there was nothing that could be done at this point. The wedding planner picked up the cake and signed off on it. It was totally different then what we had asked for. Later when we cut into the cake we realized the flavors and filling were incorrect as well. I was extremely disappointed. Monday after the wedding, I asked the planner to contact the bakery and let them know about the cake and to contact the caterer for my refund. I received an email, stating I can get a credit for a “regular-sized” cake from the bakery anytime in the next year, but no refund. I live in Washington and obviously have no way to use this. They ruined a once in a life time experience and a cake doesn’t make up for their bad service. The refund from the venue was $500. I was livid this was what I was told I would receive. I emailed wanting to know where the rest of my money was. The planner stated once they accounted for the "additional costs”, I didn't get a refund, but “by the grace of The Gaston," they would give me $500 since they felt bad about the way things were handled. The Gaston charged me for the cost of the tent. The owners never came to us with prices or asked us if we would cover a portion of the cost, or told us we had any responsibility for the cost of the tent at all. In fact, we flat out told them we did not want to pay for a tent, but they charged us for it anyway, informing us after the fact. After all that, the tent leaked badly, and my wedding dress was soaked and muddy after our first dance. Another once in a lifetime experience ruined. I definitely would not recommend The Gaston. The hassle we had to go through was not worth it.

    The Gaston Dallas's reply:

Thank you for the feedback. We are always looking for ways to improve and provide the best experience.

Unfortunately, we aren’t a tent vendor so we don’t control availability or the pricing. Because you were offered a tent multiple times and declined, the rates did increase significantly the week of your event since it was last minute, on a holiday weekend, and during Covid. I know you wanted your wedding outside and, unfortunately, we don’t control the weather either - I wish we did! When you decided you needed a tent 24 hours before your wedding due to the weather forecast, none of our vendors could accommodate the request at that time so we had to find a tent from another source. The tent charge you were given only covered the labor and staffing. The house was reconfigured for you to get married inside, but you still decided to get married outside while it was raining so there was not a way for us to avoid your dress getting wet.

As far as the refund, guest counts were reduced after the food was purchased. We are only the venue so we have to abide by our vendor’s policies. It’s important for us to also add that a guest would normally have been charged an additional damage and cleaning fee the way you left the house, but we waived this for you so you could get some money back.

I wish this situation could have been different for all parties involved because we also had some upset vendors due to how they were treated. Best of luck in the future.
