  Flawless Execution

  The staff at SVCC are nothing less than stellar. They cater to any wish you have, are highly professional, and go out of their way to make the wedding day flawless. The amount of preparation done by their staff means we didn't have to do anything for our wedding. No set up, no tear down, no worries. I cannot recommend this location, and a special thanks to Debbie and Tim for their time and efforts to work with us on everything. They even let us settle the bar tab when we got back from our honeymoon!!

  the grounds and backdrop to the country club is beautiful and made the perfect scene for our wedding photos. the staff were extremely accommodating and helpful up to the big day. the food was delicious and a wide variety was offered to choose from.

  My husband's father is a long-time member of the country club, so we had the opportunity to have the whole club closed for our wedding. Even aside from having the whole place to ourselves, Jennifer and Bob were wonderful in helping me work out every detail. The waitstaff and bartenders were all lovely on the day of the wedding--very helpful! Errol (the chef) is AMAZING at what he does. We had chicken chesapeake and filet mignon, and both were excellent! A lot of people who had the steak complimented the fact that even though they were cooked in bulk, they were all done perfectly! Cocktail hour food and late-night snacks were just as good, too. Although the decor could use a little updating, it's probably the best place we could have picked in the area!

  When I first booked them they were having a lot of management and communication issues but by the time the wedding rolled around our planner Shey did an amazing job. The day went very smoothly. The country club is also a beautiful location.

  The food was excellent. No need for a lot of decorations with the exception of flowers. The outdoor areas make for a great back drop for pictures!

We wanted to have our ceremony and reception at the same place and for these circumstances and the size of our guest list, SVCC was undoubtedly the best option. We were lucky and had an 80-degree day for our October ceremony so we were able to take advantage of the stunning backdrop the Club offers for an outdoor ceremony. However, we knew that the ballroom with its fireplace and chandeliers would have been a cozy setting on a chillier day.
  The Club is a very popular choice in the area, which mean the staff is very busy. Responsiveness could have been better in the months leading up to the wedding; however, I know that they kept track of all the details because the day was just as we'd discussed and went as smoothly as possible.
  For couples looking for a venue that accommodate both a ceremony and a reception, you can't find a better value than SVCC.

  When we booked SVCC in March of 2014, to the time of our wedding in June of 2015, we went through 3-4 event coordinators. We were promised a number of different things including special requests and prices, which all changed each time someone new came into the role. No one ever contacted us as these positions changed hands, and we found out through one of our vendors once, and through our lack of returned calls, otherwise. It was extremely frustrating, until SVCC hired Toni Niles. Toni was extremely organized and quick to return calls and emails. She can multi-task with the best of them, and is good at repeating information back to make sure she was understanding our requests. Given the nature of our planning madness, she was great at working with her boss, to ensure we weren't shocked by various fees that weren't in the previous contract, and waived a few things because of that. Toni and Steve were great at working with us for the 2 months before our wedding, and when we learned that Toni was going to be on vacation the weekend of our wedding, we were so confident in her notes and keeping the whole staff informed, that we were only sad we couldn't toast the day with her, as well. When the toasting wine we special ordered didn't come in, she called in a favor from her vacation spot and managed to get someone to drive 3 hours to pick it up (this was not our request,she is just that awesome in making you feel important!). Colleen (main bartender) was also excellent in Toni's absence, and was genuinely excited to help us with our questions. She helped us with a smile on her face all morning as we set up on Friday, and again greeted us with a smile on Saturday night for our reception. She was phenomenal in making the day perfect! Despite our frustrations at the beginning, our wedding was perfect in the end! The food was excellent, the view was beautiful, and the staff was incredible! Our wedding was just as we imagined it!(Changing staff rate: 2/5; current staff: 5/5!)

  Beautiful Site! Convenient Location! Everything worked out in the end but....getting there was not so easy. When we first booked SVCC we had a very nice and helpful event coordinator however a couple of months later when I was trying to get a hold of the coordinator to start talking details I was informed that he was no longer with the country club. After a couple of weeks I called back to find a brand new event coordinator who did not know much about the details of how weddings at the club were run and who appeared disorganized. It was a very frustrating and nerve racking last couple of months whenever I would try to give her more details I just would see a shuffle of little papers in a folder. About 3 weeks before the wedding the coordinator lets me know that she will be on vacation during my wedding and the club manager will be able to handle everything. (Granted I never had a meeting with him). While she was on vacation I met up with the manager to go over everything with him and I had wished that he was the coordinator I was working with from the beginning. In the end the wedding was beautiful and all the details fell into place. This is a beautiful location for a reception or ceremony and reception! The food was 5 stars and I would recommend having your wedding here! Most likely the new wedding coordinator will be more experienced by the time you need her!

  The view made the day

  Although our view and our day turned out perfect, I had some issues with SVCC. Our event coordinator and chef quit in the middle of planning our wedding, and I was never notified until I reached out due to lack of communication from the original planner. They did replace the staff quickly, and set me up with a second taste testing. Having a coordinator was a positive experience because she was able to order all our linens, tables, set-up etc. All the landscaping was dying/weeds, props to the coordinator, Debbie, because she was literally pulling weeds on the night before my wedding and they did have mums/pumpkins delivered prior to my ceremony. The two managers were accommodating the day of, providing golf carts for photos and then even serving at the bar at some points. The food was delicious also. Although there was some disappointments, the view and the price point was worthwhile.

  Had a tasting/meeting scheduled with the event coordinator for several weeks. She called me two days before and cancelled it because they had to "clean their kitchen fans" we were traveling from out of town and had it all planned to come and find it a bit unprofessional that our tasting was cancelled because of a cleaning?! Needless to say, we booked a different venue!! Do yourself a favor and do the same! Who knows what would have suddenly came about on my wedding day!

  Just wanted to watch a football game in the dining area, and got kicked out because “we weren’t members”. We weren’t causing trouble and weren’t being obnoxious, just wanted to watch the TV for the final minutes of a football game. Manager didn’t want to hear our opinion, and was frankly rude. Disappointed for an otherwise nice wedding reception.

  Just wanted to watch a football game in the dining area, and got kicked out because “we weren’t members”. We weren’t causing trouble and weren’t being obnoxious, just wanted to watch the TV for the final minutes of a football game. Manager didn’t want to hear our opinion, and was frankly rude. Disappointed for an otherwise nice wedding reception.

  Susquehanna Valley Country Club's reply:

  We appreciate your response and concerns. Unfortunately, when the whole clubhouse is not rented out by the client, the restaurant and TV room remain open to members only, and this is known to the client upon booking. As a guest at the function, I can see how this could be confusing, however we did try to explain the situation more than once. Thank you for noting that the reception was good despite being allowed to view the football game in our member area.
