    Incredible venue

We LOVED SBMM! We rented the entire facility and we could not be happier with how the day turned out. The staff were great and accommodating. One of our highlights was being able to take photos on their yacht that was available!

    Unique location

SBMM was a great and unique venue to have our reception at. The displays throughout the venue kept our guests intrigued and security was great on the day. The cocktail hour area is also beautiful and overlooking the ocean. The best part was we could use any vendors we want, which significantly reduced overall costs.

We had our wedding at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum and I’m so, so glad we did. My husband and I toured and considered many venues and we loved the museum. It felt unique inside as well as being on a great location on the water. We had our ceremony inside in front of the lighthouse lens and it was absolutely perfect. It was also a great space for the amount of people we had (under 50 guests) - it didn’t feel too big for the amount of people we had which I was grateful for. Our guests all loved the location and we were so happy with how kind everyone we dealt with at the museum was. They made our day extra special on top of providing a great location!

    Santa Barbara Maritime Museum's reply:

Hi Kara! It means so much that you loved your BIG DAY! It's truly so special to have a ceremony in front of the Lighthouse lens - such a unique backdrop! It's like the worlds largest chandelier! haha. Everything was truly so beautiful start to finish - make sure to visit us again, perhaps on your 1-year anniversary!

We had our wedding of approximately 120 people at the Maritime Museum. It's a gorgeous venue and you have to do very little in terms of decorating in order to make the room look stunning. Our guests loved the harbor location and the awesome exhibits. We used the Munger Theater to broadcast a video montage for our guests - it's a great selling point for using this venue. The staff was helpful and friendly. If you want a unique and beautiful setting for the happiest day of your life, I can't recommend the museum highly enough.

    Santa Barbara Maritime Museum's reply:

Thank you so much for your kind review! Brides like you are what make our job so fun!! Warm Regards, Museum Staff ; )

We had our wedding at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. This was the first place I toured for the reception once I knew I wanted to have my wedding at the Old Mission Santa Barbara. Toured other possible reception places as well, but my heart was set on this location! The view of the marina for hors d'oeuvres was amazing! The Crow's Nest's view was even more AMAZING. My guests absolutely LOVED it. The museum was also great. It fit perfectly with my 130 guests. There weren't any issues with the set up, and if it there was, my awesome wedding coordinator took care of it. My husband and I had a PERFECT DAY. Our family and friends had fun, my husband and I had fun , and everything went well!! So pleased!! Thank you to William for providing everything to our wedding coordinator!

    Santa Barbara Maritime Museum's reply:

Renee thank you for such kind words! It means so much to us that we were able to celebrate with you on such an important day. William is absolutely a star! He and all our staff had so much fun working with you to make your dream day come to life. And so glad to hear your guests enjoyed the views and ambience of the Museum - truly a unique spot in Santa Barbara!

Please make sure to come back and say hello! Warmest regards, SBMM Staff

I'm happy that I chose the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum as my reception venue – Chrissy and the rest of the SBMM staff truly helped to make my wedding a success!

PLANNING: Professional, friendly staff from initial planning stage to event set-up to execution. Staff members were very accessible (e.g, working to finalize my contract while on vacation over a weekend and participating on planning conference calls, meeting me for my first site visit so I can snap photos and measure the space, setting up my slide show on a laptop, etc.) and accommodating (e.g, providing easels for my posters, helping to get me safely up on the museum's docked boat for the money shot, etc.).

VENUE: If the sneak peek gallery of stunning pictures I've seen from my photographer is any indication, the harbor view location was perfect, the maritime theme inside aligned with our American Riviera theme and red/white/navy wedding color scheme, and the venue was the perfect size/set-up for cocktail hour outside and on the 4th floor observatory deck as well as dinner/dancing on the main floor.

    Santa Barbara Maritime Museum's reply:

Thank you for such kind words!! We absolutely loved celebrating with you and your family and friends. Such a good party! Truly hope to have you back with us many times in the future : )

We had our wedding here in April 2017, and it was great. We had about 130 people with 13 tables and still had room for the bar and the band. The positives were the table and chairs come with the venue, and some high tops as well, they let your bring in your caterer, no need for decor since its a museum. We used the front patio for cocktail hour and everyone had a great time, the staff are friendly, and even let us bring in our very well behaved dog to tour the venue knowing he would be a part of the big day.

    Santa Barbara Maritime Museum's reply:

Hi Maureen! So glad you loved celebrating with us! We love that the Museum makes it easy for our clients in that they don't have to bring in tables and chairs, and "less is more" when it comes to decor so it definitely saves on the budget! That way you can focus on just having fun the day of! haha. Please come visit us again soon!
