R&H Gatherings: Where Wedding Planning is Stress-Free and Dreams are Realized
I have been dreading this review since writing this makes it all so real that my fairytale wedding & the fun planning process with the most amazing people, is over.
I cannot express how magical my wedding experience at Rod & Hammer Gatherings was! From the moment we started planning, the team there transformed my dreams into reality.
We loved RH Gatherings so much that we also had our Welcome Party at the Barrel Room of Rod & Hammer Rock property. This was also filled with amazing food and service.
The Carrisa venue was absolutely breathtaking – it exceeded all expectations for our intimate wedding. The planning process was a joy, primarily thanks to the incredible April, the event director. Her responsiveness, positive attitude, and genuine care made me feel like my wedding was her top priority. Lyndsey's sweetness and support were also invaluable.
Rod & Hammer Gatherings even surprised us with the most heartwarming wedding gift, bringing me to tears. It's those thoughtful touches that set them apart.
If you're looking for a wedding experience filled with warmth, beauty, and professionalism, look no further than Rod & Hammer Gatherings in San Luis Obispo. We had a small wedding reception for our dauther at SLO Brew. The venue is amazing and the food was great!! Very laid back atmosphere but very nice and very organized. Working with April on the planning went very smooth and everything turned out great. I would highly recommend this venue!!We had a small wedding reception for our dauther at SLO Brew. This is for the SLO Brew location on Higuera. We booked the outdoor area as well as the upstairs mezzanine for a pizza and beer party the night before our wedding. It was a great experience to be had by all and would recommend to others looking to do something similar. We worked primarily with Sarah, but also had some conversations with other members of the team.
The agreement was for the reservation of the outdoor area and the upstairs mezzanine during a 3-hour period. This included three waves of pizza (Green Machine, Straight Up, Brew Za, and Yard Bird) as well as beer to help us meet a food and beverage minimum. This was for approximately 100 guests. We had to inform our guests that they couldn't order other food items because it might have backed up the kitchen. Didn't like the lack of flexibility, but completely understand the reasons.
All in all, it was a great time to be had by all. If I had to offer some constructive feedback, it would be that we probably could've used 1 or 2 more servers. I think we had 1 or 2 serving us throughout the 3 hours (and they were great). Also, and this is less about SLO Brew and more just advice for others, for 100 people, you probably don't need to book the mezzanine and the outdoor area. The two are separated and none of our guests actually ended up using the mezzanine. This is for the SLO Brew location on Higuera. Wedding welcome party
I had my wedding welcome party at SLO Brew Rock.
Overall, the experience was decent. However, there were a few things I did have issues with:
- We had booked our welcome party (for about 100ppl) months in advance. A week before the event, the venue asked if we could switch spaces (at SLO Brew) due to the other wedding party being nearby and them having a loud band. Ultimately we did go ahead and switch, but I would have appreciated if they gave a little more lead time.
- Following up on the above, during our event, the bride, groom, and a few guests from the wedding walked through our space! You can imagine this is frustrating, given that my Wedding Welcome party is supposed to be a private party!
- The venue put the mezze (appetizer) station right in the line of the paella, so if any guests wanted appetizers they had to cut into the dinner line. It was an odd decision I thought to put it there.
- I was told there would be two (separate) paella stations. Instead there was only one, which meant that there was a really long line for folks getting dinner.
- (more minor) I was not introduced to the lead waitstaff person for over an hour upon arriving at the venue (and even then I had to go find her). I would have liked her to introduce herself to me, me having dealt with all of the logistics and emails beforehand.
- The venue and food itself is quite expensive. We were over 3x above our food and beverage minimum. Just a heads up for couples wanting to plan a low cost event - this is not your venue.I had my wedding welcome party at SLO Brew Rock.
