I was looking to find a hotel that offered space for the ceremony and reception. Being in Oregon during October my outdoor wedding was pretty much voted out. Red Lion hotel helped in creating what I truly wanted for my day. The room was perfect and the tables, chairs and linens they provided were fantastic.
They also gave us a discount for those who wanted to stay in the hotel for the wedding weekend. We got a hotel room for the night of the wedding for free, wine and strawberrys. The staff was super nice and always said Hi and bye as we came and went that weekend.
The food was fantastic and the service of the wait staff was amazing! -

The Red Lion - Portland Convention Center exceeded all of my expectations! The terrace was the perfect location for my ceremony, and the Windows Skyroom was great for the reception. I didn't have to rent anything, as they had everything I wanted onsite. We used their Governor's Suite as our get ready room, and it was exceptional. The food was exceptional, and the staff was friendly and helpful. Sharyl was very easy to work with.
I highly recommend them as a wedding venue. -

Unfortunately, the hotel will be gutted and completely renovated in October, so this means several things. One - everything in the hotel is very old and badly in need of renovation. Two - the staff are facing a minimum 3 month layoff as a result, so in the year between the time I booked the venue and my actual day, I went through FOUR changes in wedding coordinator staff, which was frustrating. They are also extremely inflexible as far as being overpriced - I felt I was being nickel-and-dimed quite a bit. However, the view can't be beat, and the lounge and terrace itself is a beautiful locale for a wedding. I had a great day, but were I do to it again with the knowledge that the staff would be what they were, I would have booked elsewhere. -
