  Fall Wedding in the Perfect Vermont Setting

  Mountain View was the perfect setting for the fall wedding of our dreams. Working with them over the eighteen months leading up to our wedding was very iterative and allowed for us to design the right setup. They were very responsive and cooperative as we made adjustments to customize our vision. The outside and inside spaces were so charming, unique, and expansive. We also hosted a mini family reunion the night after our wedding while everyone was still in town, so not only would we highly recommend Mountain View for an outdoor wedding, but also great for any big family occasion!

  Wedding at When Words Count Retreat

  We had the wedding of a lifetime at When Words Count Retreat. If you're looking for the most picturesque of settings and incredibly joyful weekend, then look no further. Tommy and staff were very accommodating giving the current circumstances. We would HIGHLY recommend to any of our friends or family looking to get hitched!!

  Incredible!!

  Tommy, Amber and Sam were all so helpful. Our stay was perfect. We had our wedding ceremony under the arbor in the field and our reception in the barn. It is the most ideal wedding venue. It was so convenient to have the house and chateau to sleep our family and friends, even more convenient that there are so many nearby air bnbs and inns. We couldn’t be happier. We even had a rainbow at our wedding! I highly recommend it.

  Small, Intimate Wedding

  The setting was absolutely perfect for a small, intimate wedding. We were able to rent the main property as well as a neighboring property. Tommy (the host) was incredibly responsive and helpful. Amber, who catered both the rehearsal and ceremony, was EXCELLENT to work with and the food was phenomenal. It was perfect for our needs.

  I am so thankful for the folks at WWCR, they were attentive, reliable, flexible, and just all around great people! The main house is absolutely gorgeous as well as the country back drop which offered a rustic elegance that I was looking for.

  My husband and I chose this "venue" specifically for its non-venue-ness; when we found them, they had just recently started using the grounds for weddings (it was actually a writer's retreat) and we loved that we could make it our own.
  We had a very DIY wedding - the only vendor we used was a caterer for brunch - and our wedding was perfect here! The views and scenery are unbeatable. The gorgeous old farmhouse was great for sharing with our immediate family members and the wedding party (we had a small wedding with about 40 guests). We all stayed here for the weekend and rented the additional cottage on the property, as well. We also hosted our rehearsal dinner here, a very casual and intimate dinner that we made ourselves.
  I would definitely recommend having your wedding here if you want to be able to customize everything and you are willing to do all of the work yourself. There is no on-site coordinator, no one that is going to help you set up/take down (at least at the time we were married), but that means the sky is the limit in terms of how you want your wedding to look and feel. That is exactly what we were looking for. In fact, I hope that it doesn't become a wedding factory like many beautiful places like this do. What made it so special for us was that it was completely our own.
  One final note for anyone considering this venue is that there is no back up plan for your outdoor wedding; the house is not big enough for a wedding and the barn is not usable at all (only to take pictures in front of), so if you're worried about rain I suggest renting an additional tent or having some other sort of backup. Otherwise, this spot is perfect for a Vermont country wedding!
