Hidden Gem - wonderful wedding venue!
We had already booked a venue when we went to the Lumber Baron for brunch. We were so enamored with the beautiful location, the uniqueness of the venue, and the friendliness of the owners that we decided to cancel our first venue and booked with Lumber Baron. They were responsive, professional, and overall wonderful the whole way through the planning process. The owners, along with the events coordinator were so wonderful that they felt like old friends by the time the wedding arrived. They clearly love to share their amazing space with others and truly made sure that we didn't have to worry about anything. The chef and staff were amazing! We're so happy that we stumbled upon the Lumber Baron and would highly recommend them for weddings and other events. -

The staff at the Lumber Baron Inn in the Highlands in Denver, Colorado were exceptional! They hosted our wedding venue, providing delicious food, the gardens for our ceremony, and Erin, our efficient, gave a personal quality of care and professionalism that was so warm and welcoming. We stayed an additional 2 days, as well as our wedding night there, and had the joy of breakfast prepared by one of Denver's respected chefs and Innkeeper. It was a perfect fairy tale wedding from start to finish. -

Walter is great! I got lots of comments at the actual wedding, wondering how I found the location. People thought it was lovely, even though it was a 104 degrees. :) -

The Lumber Baron Inn offers lots of charm and personal service. The setting was very intimate, which was our #1 goal for our wedding. Being lucky enough to enjoy a gorgeous day of weather, we held our ceremony and reception outside in the gardens which were beautifully accented with lots of flowers and greenery. The owners were great to work with. We were slightly disappointed with the honeymoon suite. We would have appreciated it if there were a few small toiletries provided, since it slipped our minds on such a busy day to pack those items. Overall it was a great experience. -

Walter and Julie and the folks at the Lumber Baron Inn & Gardens were terrific with us! The venue is an absolutely beautiful Victorian Mansion with immaculate rose gardens! The planning meetings leading up to the event were handled very professionally, but with a relaxed tone. On the day of the wedding, they made sure all the other vendors were doing what they were supposed to be doing in the time it needed to be done. Walter even saved my butt, as I had forgotten to bring my vows, the day of the ceremony. I called him while in route about it. He asked if I had a smart phone and could email them to him. I do, and I did. He had them printed out and waiting for me when I arrived. phew!!! Thanks Walter. ;-)
They took great care of all our guests! Everybody was relaxed and having lots of fun! And made sure that we, the bride and groom, had absolutely nothing to worry about except to say "I Do".
Because the LB is also a Bed & Breakfast, we stayed with them (in their honeymoon suite) for the night, as did several others from our wedding party. Beautiful, romantic, and comfortable accommodations, with the privacy that a bride & groom need after the nuptials. They made sure our every need was taken care of and served up a terrific breakfast in bed to us in the morning, with a nice quiche, muffins, toast, bacon, sausage, fresh fruit, coffee and orange juice. In the morning, set on a small table near the foyer, were all the items they'd found in clean up that a few of our guests had misplaced the night before. Check out was very laid back and even helped us after the event was over by holding on to the top of the wedding cake and Bride's Bouquet in their fridge for a couple days until we could pick it up from them. Thanks Walter, Julie, and staff for your part in giving us a beautiful stress-free wedding day. We are eternally grateful!

This was a beautiful, unique venue. Also, the owner, Walt, had a very well-planned schedule that was easy to follow instead of having to guess at our own. A truly beautiful place!! -

Only our reception was held here. Lovely old mansion now a bed and breakfast owned by husband and wife Walter and Julie. It was exactly what we were looking for but, we paid a price for it. First of all, about a month after we signed our contract, Walter called and told me that our date was not actually available. He gave us a few options and after realizing that we did not want to start the search over again, we agreed to move the date. While he gave us Saturday for Sunday's price, it still left us with a bad taste in our mouth.
It is not easy to get ahold of them either. Emails and phone calls would sometimes not be returned at all.
They do not include a changing room other than the bathrooms on the 3rd floor. You have to rent a room if you need to get dressed there.
Had a meeting 30 days prior to cover all the details with Julie. Julie was not able to attend the wedding and it would seem that some of Julie's notes from the meeting were not relayed to Walter. All just minor details really but, would've been nice if it was the way we wanted it.
Also, when called a couple days after the wedding and asked for a breakout of the bar tab and were told we could not have it. That didn't set well at all. -
